Hi
Is was hoping if someone could help me with something...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 and the touch-pad got broken but display is intact.
Someone told me that I cant buy only the touch-pad ( i think its called a digitizer too ...), that I need to buy a touch-pad with display in one piece.
So I wanna know If I can replace the touch-pad without removing my display which is intact.
Thanks in advance
Unfortunately the whole thing(screen n touchpad) is a single unit...I don't think u can buy it seperately.. try though

You can find only display+digitizer... i think this is because the display is amoled. I had a galaxy spica and I broke my digitizer, and i replaced it (without having to buy the lcd)
sorry mate for your phone
Hi
My Galaxy S got a permanent screen burn-in after 6 month use.
After got a service, I think I got a LCD instead of AMOLED.
So, I'm wondering if galaxy s (i9000) can use LCD(probably for i9003).
Anyone know this? I'd like to complain about this.
Because, I bought Galaxy S to get OLED screen.
Thanks in advance.
anything is possible tho this sounds very unlikely to happen.
try to compare it to another SGS and see if theres a difference (and dont forget that a poor screen protector can change colors)
if u r still unsure u should send it to a lab to get it checked
Dude, believe me if you had your phone for 6 months and got a LCD display, you wouldn't be just thinking it wasn't AMOLED - you would have already sent it back for replacement. Just look at the display at a steep angle from all the sides and if it doesn't fade to white you've got AMOLED.
Would the amoled screen on the rogers vibrant s work on the T-Mobile t959 phone? I have the t959 with a cracked screen and can get the rogers phone with a bad internal SD for about 40 which is cheaper than buying a screen new and I know how to swap I just don't know compatibility anyone have an idea?
Can i putt a lcd on my galaxy s1 amoled version?
Touchscree iz broke, realy bad but still works.
So i need a new touchscreen.
And i cant find one without a lcd screen
I've noticed when scrolling down pages etc that occasionally the touchscreen seems to miss a spot, like it's not sensing any movement in that particular area of the screen, a "deadspot" if you will..
has anyone else noticed a similar occurance? On my Iphone 3GS I noticed no such issues.
The basic concept behind a capacitive screen is that it has a grid dot array, and senses current change between any multiple "nodes" and then registers your input accordingly. If you look at your screen under the sun you will see this grid dot array, with many tens of dots splattered around the screen..
However, I noticed my old iPhone 3GS had a LOT more of these dots on the screen. I'm wondering if it's just my screen protector interfering with touch motions, or if its the fact that the grid array isn't comprehensive enough.
TL;DR
Does anyone notice dead spots on the touchscreen of their Optimus 2X?
Also, I notice I need to aim slightly above my intended target when pressing links and such, does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks.
No deadspots that I can register, potential culprit could be the kernel you are using.
As for the aiming slightly above issue, I agree with you, if I use my thumb I really aim a bit higher, but if I touch with my pointer finger, it is dead on
I cannot compare this touchscreen to iphone because I've never owned one, but responsiveness and precision is as good as on Galaxy S which my brother currently has
I have noticed no deadspots or lags (despite of some leaked roms with this particular known issue..)
Compared to my friend's Iphone 4, noticed no difference..
Iphone4 displays are LG displays..so apart from the resolution, everything is same..!!

Apart from the resolution, the screen, the digitizer and the screen size? That would seem very different to me.
Well its a 3.5inch in an iphone so yeah the size is def different..
Do i have to spell that out as well :-\

Lol. Anyway it seems the issue isn't the screen but rather just some apps seem to have this dead spot.

Can't it be checked if its a hw or sw issue by just flashing ur Rom n in case the prob persists flash ur regions stock Rom ,unroot n go to service centre :-\

It smells like a hardware problem. I never had it and I never heard anyone have it. Send it to service.
Actually our touch its pretty good. 10 points of multitouch.
What I remember is that with gr1 rom from modaco if i recall correct some raws on the right side were dead so you couldnt hit "p" easy but that was roms problem. CM or stock are fine.
I think you got a bad apple (no pun intended)... I upgraded from iphone 3gs/Xperia x10 to optimus, had the three of them side by side for some time, and the o2x's screen responsiveness is, at very least, on par to iphone 3gs. X10 with wolfbreak's rom was a little bit less responsive, but no compaints about optimus 2x. A dead spot issue looks like a hardware fault.
And sorry for my bad english...

Youre lucky, my friend dropped it from 2 feet and it smashed to bits
Apple invests a huge amount of money in marketing, because they are supposedly the best in every activity they are involved, which of course is nonsense!

Yeah, I meant the display felt less responsive/precise, not considering the dual/multitouch capabitities, bcos wasn't the focus of the discussion...
What ROM are you using? Maybe you're running some bad kernel with the touch-bug? For example Pauls r23 have it. Try neoblaze. Or if your running a stock rom, what version is it? I think there is one stock with the bug also, not sure.

No touchscreen unresponsiveness here
My touchscreen is as good as apples too. It's very responsive!
Every person saying it's not as good as apple have a bad firmware or a hardware problem, I think.

Have you all seen the Nook Tablet tear down by iFixit ..
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nook-Tablet-Teardown/7121/1
Here is the Nook Color
http://www.zdnet.com/photos/nookcolor-teardown/487636?tag=mantle_skin;content
Don't all the parts look exactly the same as the Nook Color.. even the new battery has Nook Color on it.
Here is a comparison pic of the two boards. Attached.
So could the parts be interchangable...?
According to B&N, the Tablet does have microphone, so the bare board must have some sorts of difference.
Can you re-take a look at the Tablet's microphone, it should be somewhere in the lower left corner of your picture (opposite side of the jack)
Yes its actually on the other side of the the board and doesnot create a problem.
Just a small hole needed ...
It's possible you could run into problems with the lcd and touch screen controllers. I know the Tablet uses a different model touch screen, but as long as the connection is the same that might only be a driver problem that would require a custom NT kernel with that NC driver added. The lcd controller is on the system board and appears to possibly be an identical model (LVDS83B), but there are other numbers on the chip before that and I honestly don't know if they indicate different models
They look similar to the extent they are the same size and shape with some parts in the same place, but to me they look radically different.

Sure, but I think he's asking in terms of being able to swap out a system board from a NT (like if he found one with a broken screen that is being sold cheaply for parts) and many of the internal changes to the system board wouldn't affect that
The thing I like most about this tear down is their use of connectors NOT soldering. Makes replacing high wear parts much easier. Also the neat thing here is the interchangeability of parts between NC and NT, should make the screen/buttons/battery quite cheaper.
Aside from that I didnt see any notation of onboard bluetooth. Did I miss it?

Bluetooth is built in to the Wifi chip on both of these. It still remains to be seen if the Tablet's BT can be activated though

The teardown doesn't list the wifi chip. I don't think they even exposed the processor fully. Are you sure that's true?
Well even replacing the battery with the tablets one which is much bigger is a huge benefit.

No that's wrong it appears the batteries are identical. So the only benefit possibly is replacing the main board.

The pictures show that the batteries are identical, and the Tablet's battery was even labeled as "NOOKCOLOR". The battery life difference comes only from newer, more efficient parts like the CPU, GPU and probably the screen too
Hmmmm, I have a Nook Color that the motherboard is fried on.
I was going to replace it with one from Portatronics or hope someone is selling theirs with a broken screen or sell mine for parts.
I'd be willing to try to replace it with a Nook Tablet motherboard and see if it works once they become available (depending on cost), the only thing that looks like it might give trouble is the touchscreen controller.
Everything else looks like it has the same orientation and connectors.

Sorry, I got a great deal on one from a Nook Color from Ebay.
I replaced it and it works great again.
I remember reading somewhere that CM9 includes the touchscreen driver for the new screen but I could be mistaken.
Hey all,
I recently picked up a Note 3 but I'm really unhappy with Samsung's interface and layout of it's hardware buttons and so I'm think of returning it and getting something else. The HTC One has always been appealing but I was a not fan of it's lack of external storage and small battery. I recently found out about the Butterfly S and it seems to address of the issues that I had with the One. I'm a big fan of HTC's interface and so I'm wondering if still makes sense to buy a Snapdragon 600 device now the SD800 devices are on the market. I know specs aren't everything as I have gone back to my Nexus 4 and even tho that device is way lower spec'd than the Note 3 it performs a whole lot better. I'm not a big phone gamer and I mainly use my device to surf the web, read twitter, watch videos and read comics. Mainly I want to know how smooth is the interface(is it as good the Nexus 4) and how good is the battery life? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My opinion is, by all means, go for it. The Butterfly S is a phone I'm genuinely happy with. The interface is really smooth (I only noticed a lag about two times in the whole time I've been using it) and the battery is fantastic, also refer to this thread. (My experience is that it lasts two days of medium usage and I still have about 30% left at the end of the second day.)
Anyway, it's up to you. If you like to buy a new phone every few months when a new phone is hyped up, it may be too late. Myself, I'm not comfortable shelling out hundreds of euros every month on a new phone just because it's newer and has better specs, I tend to buy a gadget (phone, laptop) and then use it for two or three years, until it gets really cumbersome. For me, the Butterfly S was almost certainly the best option at the time when I bought it.
So, all in all, if you like to switch to a new plaything often, it's probably late for you. If you intend to stick to your phone, you can't go wrong with this one.
i fully agree with koniiiik, there are just a few phones like the Butterfly S, unless you want an even bigger screen of course.
LG G2 - looks nice, snapdragon 800 and all, but i dont trust LG because of previous experience (lack of updates, had to return one phone SEVEN times for them to fix it).
Samsung Galaxy S4 - doesnt have the stamina of the Butterfly S and i prefer the Super LCD 3 screen of the Butterfly S.
Sony Xperia Z1 - very nice build quality, great screen and camera, also has the Snapdragon 800, i didnt want to wait for this phone though.
a friend of mine got one so have been able to try it, what i really dont like is how it feels in the hand, the Butterfly S feels more natural, even though its thicker.
actually, the thinness of the Z1 makes it harder to pick the phone up from the table, the BS is way easier to pick up.
and last, the Z1 is waterproof, thats nice, but also means all ports are closed with small covers, means you have to pry open the usb port to charge it, unless you buy a cradle.
LG Optimus G Pro - see G2
and none of them have the front stereo speeakers, a feature i think all phones should have
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'm going to jump on board.
the only reason not to buy this is the price, its quite a bit more expensive than the Z1 or S4
and ofcourse you'll have to import it if you don't live in Asia, so you probably will have to pay import tax

Yeah the price is a bit high but I currently have no interest in anything that Samsung is pushing and the Z1 I heard has poor battery life and screen view angles.
i'm amazed the angles of the Z1 screen are so poor, with all the know-how Sony has put into it
and i really dont like how it feels in the hand, it doesnt feel natural, like the BS
the Z1 is only 3,5mm wider but you can really feel the difference

Yeah the angles on the Z1 have been a big disappointment and you would think Sony of all companies would get the screen right.
I came from an Xperia Z. Horrid phone. I was just giving Sony a shot and I realize that they're exactly where they were 3 years ago. The only things that they can do are bump up the hardware, put flaps over all the ports and submerge their devices inside water tanks for show. Otherwise, they've got nothing else going for them.
My answer is yes. Get this device. You won't regret it.

I was a BlackBerry user for the past few years and using HTC Butterfly S was perhaps the best choice mobile device I had made... enjoying it, not just because it is Android but rather of its GUI, Sense 5, battery life, expandable storage and bigger screen. Go get this device... unless like what many others said, you just want to swtich device as and when better specs come.
I also think this is the best phone ever this is a complete device i no longer have to look for a device until the next year or more. How i know this is a great device? Lol i have flashed roms but i am now back to stock and rooted and enjoying it so that should tell u something it is a monster out of the box
i dont feel the need for a different rom either, the only thing it really needed was Nova Launcher, home screens on Sense aren't customizable enough, now its perfect

I wanted to relocate BlinkFeed, sadly you can't have BlinkFeed on any other homescreen besides Sense. Then again, i have BlinkFeed as a shortcut, but i don't really use it, so now i don't mind that didnt work out.
But i also didn't like the app drawer and more importantly, the number of icons per screen. Now i can have 4x5 icons per screen, that is something you should be able to set in any homescreen, maybe Sense 5.5 will have this...

I got my phone today and I really happy with it so far. The only that notice is that I'm getting some odd static feedback when using headphones. Is this happening for anyone else? If so how did you fix it? I have tried 3 different headphones and all are the same.
Edit:
After inspecting the jack I notice that a tiny bit of the plastic inside the jack is broken. I'm hoping Negri will be able to repair or replace it.

Were all headphones you tried in-ear? With in-ear headphones you may get some hiss and CPU noise, and possibly crackling with bass at highest volumes (not everyone has this problem but I have it =/). If you use high impedance over-ear headphones the hiss is almost inaudible..
The first time you use a headphone (especially one with mic input - 3 black bands on the plug) on the Butterfly s you might get some static if you spin the headphone plug, but it will go away.
To answer the question of this thread, I still think it makes sense to get one. HTC's last high-end phone with 3 buttons, future phones will only have 2 buttons and a lot of people don't like that. Unfortunately I am not sure how well HTC will be supporting updates but considering it is mostly an Asia-only product I will likely be updated faster. I really hope to see Kit-Kat on it at the least...
Yeah it has pretty much gone away. Like you said I still get static when I twist the plug in the jack. I guess I'm going to need to pick up a mic free headset. It still blows tho. I have never had this on any other phone. Other than that, this phone is fantastic.
