Mods:
Can you make a sub-forum for Samsung S3 Mini 730A? Because this phone is entirely different from international version which is i8930 (something like that) and the rooting processing, and installing TWRP ROM are very different. So far no one was able to root 730A with any success, only 4.2 not 4.4.2.
Thanks!
did you try to root with https://towelroot.com/ working well on my sm-g730w8 ( same hardware as g730a)

I installed and executed the program and it says, "phone is not supported." I assume you have 4.2.2 not 4.4.2, no?
Thanks.

Hi, AceHaven...
Before you use vRoot... it might be worth checking out towelroot first.
Although ostensibly hailed as a method of rooting the Galaxy S5, towelroot has been reported to successfully root a wide variety of devices. I have no idea of it will work with your device, but the simplicity of its implementation (install towelroot app and run it)... means it either works... or it doesn't. If it doesn't, the device just simply reboots, with no changes made.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The problem with vRoot, is that there have been long standing security concerns... that the originators of vRoot are harvesting IMEI numbers from phones... for who knows what potentially nefarious purposes.
I used vRoot myself a couple of months ago (before towelroot became available), but I took considerable measures to mitigate against any possible data harvesting from my phone. See my post here, where you can read in detail how I used vRoot to root my S3Mini.
--------------------------------------------------------------
So, in conclusion....
Try towelroot first... if that fails... then try vRoot. But be aware, that there are a lot of dubious question marks surrounding what else vRoot maybe doing (or trying to do), other than just rooting your phone.
Hope this helps... and good luck.
Rgrds,
Ged.
Hello, I have Samsung S3 Mini - model 730A. I managed to get my phone rooted, but unable to install TWRP via ODIN3; it says "fail" with red color on it. Why?
Thanks.
I think you accidentally might have chosen the version for the GT-I8190.

Verizon and ATT Samsung S3 mini smartphones are version 730A. The differences:
1) Locked bootloader. Hardwired - I think.
2) 1.2 Ghz as opposed to 1 Gz as found in other S3 mini model.
That's pretty much it. I think.

Ok, for me:
1) Locked bootloader. Hardwired - I think.
=> Have you search an thread on XDA for an alternative root method for this model ?
The basic hardware unlocked method don't work (for me), so if i am you, i will search how to unlock 730A bootloader locked..
Do you understand ?

Since we have a locked bootloader, the only thing we can use is SafeStrap
Hi,
I am considering to buy a S5 mini - but I would like to use custom ROMs and root. Now I read that the S5 useses KNOX and that there is also a KNOX-counter (seems to be 2 different things).
Is there a way to get root without changing the KNOX-counter?
And - is there also a way to get a custom recovery without changing the KNOX-counter?
(this are 2 different questions and I would love to get an answer for both seperately ...)
It seems like there is no method to get the KNOX counter back from 0x1 but there seems to be a method to get - at least root - without changing the KNOX-counter.
I had been searching around quite a bit but could not really find a definitve answer - plus: I am not a native speaker but consider my english as quite good - but the phrase: "trip KNOX-counter" which is often used in this context (e. g. here) confuses me (checking trip in a dictionary gives you just some funny results) - I assume it means the counter is changed (i. e. ++1)?
regards
at this moment there is no way to get the s5 flashed without void break in the KNOX-counter.

Hi,
thanks for the answer.
I assume that applies to recovery and root? And I also assume that we both are talking about the S5 mini?

ofcourse s5 mini, and yea, flashin a root kernel and custom recovery will touch the knox counter
Kingroot seems to not trigger Knox on the mobiles i have tried(S3 and S4-I9505 and S4-I9506) and (LG Leon), atm i am waiting for s5 mini to arrive and i will test it.
I got a trick to flash recovery without knox counter trip on the other mobiles too which i will try on s5 mini also, i will report back tommorow or the day after.
Try Kingroot at your own risk as always, through it is only root and not recovery too.

I tried latest Kingroot (4.9.3 as of yesterday from apkmirror.com) and no deal (G800H latest ZTO 5.1.1 version, BPE1 basebabd)... If you're successful with your other method, please post. Thank you.

I wrote before: G800H.
I think the list of supported phones lists G800 for the stock KitKat 4.4.2 ROM only, it doesn't work on 5.1.1.
sm-g800f kingroot works without trip knox, my knox is still 0x0, but i cannot get recovery on the same way as the older galaxy with Rashr or Flashify.
At the end as second handy I got a samsung s5 mini allready free sim (on other post I was asking if there was a way to unlockit but it seams is hard to do it) so now I will just make different questions then I iwll search on this forum just to don't go OT:
1) I'm planing to root my s5 mini (I downgrade it to kitkat 4.2.2 any suggest a "good"/quick way to root
it?
2) I neade a "good" app to finde/enter wifi routers (that why i neade root I have seen a few on the forum but I dont realy know witch cipset haves my s5 mini
3) Out the box of mu samsung 5 mini is written :" European SIM card only" there is a way to unlockit (maybe with a "secret code" or similar to unlockit so that will work olso with sim card non only Eurepean?
4) Last question..just doing root there is a good application that can upgarde the wifi rx and tx of the samsung s5 mini (so will help olso useing the application for getting access to wifi routers?
Thank's
Helen
I don't know much about G800F, but if you're on 4.4.2 (I don't think there is 4.2.2 for S5 mini), then probably Kingroot can root it. You can find a thread here in XDA.
