Ive seen a lot of workarounds for this, but this is the only one that seems to work universally without breaking anything else. I also haven't seen it mentioned here yet (surprisingly). Requires root.
Go to play store and install Disable Service
Launch it and locate the listing for Google Play Services
Disable checkinservice ONLY
Reboot
Edit - apparently this fix has been posted here already. Ah well, I couldn't find it, so maybe it will help others too.

Weird, that didn't come up when I searched. With how many people this is affecting, you'd think it would be posted everywhere. Thanks - I didn't mean to steal anyone's thunder or anything. I found it the comments of another board early this afternoon.

Cool will retry. thx
[EDIT] well things work when you uncheck the service under Google Play Services and NOT Service Framework. DOH!!!!
Anyone else noticed that disabling the checkin service is creating a wakelock? Have seen multiple threads on it on the Nexus 4 board and am experiencing this myself. It fixes the calling but prevents CPU sleep.

I'm here in Brisbane / Australia .. Have a HTC One M7 .. Yes, still using it .. Phone dials, but can't hear the dialing ringtone.?
Both The HTC One M7 & the Receiver ( mobile or land line) can't hear each other, yet it is connected.? .. Seriously need help please!
Phone is rooted, unlocked, running AICP 7.1.2 , Magisk v13.3 .. Nothing fancy, it's my partners phone .. Can't make phone calls, Help!!
Hello guys, i'd really appreciate any help to my problem. I have an htc one m7 for 3 years now and since 2 days ago there was no problem, but all of a sudden i can't make outgoing calls, the moment i press the call "button" the call ends, my provider signal is ok and i am not in airplane mode, others can call me just fine and the sound is normal. I searched the forum but couldn't find anyone with the same problem. I rooted the phone about 2 months ago, and since then i 've tested many roms (tryed to find a stable one), the moment the call problem occurred i was using InsertCoin 7.1.3, i tryed some tricks that i found on google but nothing is working. Now i am running the stock one i had backed up when i first rooted the device, but still have the same problem.

Hello.
I recently dusted off my Australian Velocity after the Nexus 5 went for a swim at the beach. I have S-off, rooted and installed the albinoman ROM.
There are a couple of issues I have noticed so far.
The 4g connection is patchy at best. Not very stable at all but I can live with that.
The battery indicator is acting strangely it stays in 100% for ages but then it starts going down very quickly until it gets to 14% where it stays for a long time but once it gets past that it just goes to full discharge very fast.
I am having the same issue that many other guys and my MMS capabilities are not working. The phone just stays sending or retrying but messages never leave.
Any suggestions about what to do? I have wiped and reinstalled the ROM a few times and it makes no difference.
On the other hand I love the overclocking capabilities makes the phone feel a bit more responsive.
Thanks and keep up the good work

As for the 4G connection, once you've accumulated 10 posts you should mention this in the CM 11 ROM thread and ask if the APN needs to be any different than normal (or if the mod changes the APN). The battery issue should get fixed if you let it fully charge and fully discharge about 3 times. The MMS capabilities is a known issue; try the specific nightlies that albinoman recommended to fix the MMS issue. New nightlies might break previous fixes and stuff.
Same Issue
I'm having the same issue here for AT&T HTC Vivid, none of my MMS were sent, nor have I received any. It's really essential for me cuz of my group, clubs have MMS and inorder for me to get those notifications I need MMS.
Calls are okay, but there are times where there's no sound on the other caller, so to fix that I end call and call again, which fixes it.
One final issue I've been having since Jellybean and Kitkat is the proximity for when calls, it does not respond. So i have to turn on Settings>Accessibility>Power button to end a call, because the phone's screen stays black during call, and 10-30 seconds after call. Camera is okay too, but doesn;t function well in video recording in apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Overall, it's a great ROM by albinoman, I wish the Sweep2Wake is soon embedded, that's really great and wayyy better than the power button.

I tried Albinoman suggested rom and I still have issues with MMS.
The battery indicator is normalising as you said it would.
I know about the 10 posts count but it is hard for me to just write a post for the sake of getting the count up.
Yeah, I hear ya, I've been there before too. The posts will generally come easily and quickly posting to q&a and general, so you're on the right track

I'm also in Aus.
Been running CM versions now for over a year.
The new CM11 has been trouble free, with one quirky problem. I manually set my network preference to 2G at one desperate battery extending moment.
Now i can't find how to select "4G"??? When i use the preferred network type i only have 2 or 3G as options.
When i search for available networks i get an "error"

Many thanks, i saw the post!
Yeah I tried clearing everything. Did a manual reinstall of the APNs using a number of different configs.
Did the wipes ....... did a little dance .... pulled the battery and sim ...... sacrificed a small packet of tofu (no goats, i like goats) The gods of mobility have still not smiled my way.
Wont find networks when i do a search yet am nicely connected, can make calls etc etc.
thanks for trying. If i get no joy will reflash a nightlie and see if it resets?!
Yeah, although wiping the caches didn't do the trick, reflashing a nightly (along with wiping data, cache, and dalvik-cache) should take care of the problem. If you are really attached to your app settings, look into titanium backup for backing up your apps along with their data; it's also the way I save my WiFi passwords.

Hi, tried the dialer solution and no joy.
Installed INtelli3G but it needs the xposed framework which simply won't install. Have tweaked instal options appropriately so it should???
Mike
EDIT My bad, didn't like installing from bluetooth transfer, downloaded on phone worked .... will test I3G
Fixed
Many thanks rignfool
I installed xposed and Intelli3g and with a bit of mucking around now have 4g back!
Seems to work, have 4g 4 bars!
My initial attempts to force lte caused me to have no coverage (I was at work in North SYd so good LTE normally).
Using the "use all" option in Intelli3g, a reboot and swapping around towers was the trick for me.
Thanks again
Mike
Awesome! Do you want to make a step by step instruction set on how to fix that? I would like to know, and I'm sure a newbie who runs into the save problem would really appreciate it.

hello
Since this morning I was not able to listen to the person on the phone and he could not hear me either. I dropped my phone yesterday. Not a hard thud but it took some hit. I checked if the speakers are not working but they are working fine. I could listen to music and both the speakers are loud and clear. I could also use google now so my mic is in perfect condition. I could use a headphone to talk to other person but cannot while holding my phone right next to my ear.
Now I am really confused as to wt could be the problem. I have not changed firmwares or roms in the past few weeks. Can someone please help me?

Go into Settings>Apps and clear cache and data Google Play Service, Google Services Framework and reboot. If it persists try clearing some more apps cache and data. There have been many reports of this issue lately it's almost always some dirty cache.
Some users have reported that switching to a different su app has fixed it for them but I'd go with App cache and data first.
It seems to be related to the latest round of Google app updates.

pardon me for being ignorant but how do you downgrade superSU? install an older version?
You can check which version of SuperSU you have by opening the app and viewing settings. Version is at the top of settings window.
To change to a different version you can just flash a zip in recovery.

I've checked the apn setting and they are good. I can't find out why my data was slowed this much. I have the same amount of service bars and it's also telling me I'm getting 4G, didn't have this problem on CM12.1. So my question is how do I fix the slowed data

Has anyone been able to figure out how to go about fixing the internet lag that Marshmallow brought? Any app that uses internet seems to lag for a long time before actually beginning to load, including web pages, play store downloads, etc. I haven't been able to figure out yet how to correct that.

no internet lag here at all, on marshmallow. actually, any lag that youre having would most likely be because of your provider, and not because of marshmallow. is your apn correct?
same here. .no internet lag..
I experience the same lag, especially on the two apps he mentions. Strange because I don't see that on any of my PC's, laptops or internet TV's so I don't think it's a provider issue. I have checked my APN's and they are correctly set. It's not horrible with the browser, a five second delay before loading but sometimes the play store has to be stopped and restarted (or turn off wifi) to connect.

Same issue then! And Simms, I believe my apn is correct, it does this for me on WiFi too and same as said here in this quoted post, I don't experience this issue on any of my other devices in the house, just my Nexus! odd then. maybe its because of your "set up"? if you have twrp recovery, would you make a backup then try a factory reset. see if it happens from the beginning or not. you can restore your back up after.
same issue and im bone stock, If I have some time i will be trying a few different ROMs over the few days until I find "the one" so I will report back my findings. I'm on tmo and have the issue whether im on wifi, lte, H+, or H.

I have tried this and even in 100% stock. Unlocked bootloader still and same lag. Kind of seems like only Marshmallow brought this, possible in the radio file it comes with. I'm stumped about why. I'm running newest cataclysm with multirom and cm 13 on secondary. Using newest elite kernel. Multirom TWRP is my recovery. Also, it is safe to install Lollipop radio and use with Marshamllow? Can you mix radios like that? I may try that next if possible!
I don't know if this is an issue with me or chrome app. I'm on tmobile and sometimes it lags on wifi as well. Haven't tried a different browser.

Search Google for marshmallow data stalls. It's a very weird bug, turning your screen on and off is the only thing that helps.
I Flashed a cm13 rom and it is gone for me now. Maybe try that and see if it works for you? You could always nandroid anyways if it didn't fix it.

i just purchased a nexus 6 and installed marsh. i am also on TMOUS and i get slow loads on browsers and social media apps. Instagram and Facebook as well as with both Chrome and Dolphin when accesssing any webpage. ive been toggling with the APN and surprisingly turning the screen off then on shows minimal success. Page loading reminds me of when i had Nextel running 2G service; its that slow or times out.
However i do not get this on Wifi.
I had an issue similar myself. Speed via speed test were crazy slow too, even when in LTE. My fix was very simple though. I flash the factory image from Google and booted first time. Then factory data reset and flashed radio before booting, suddenly all was working again. However my issue wasn't app related but rather system wide, also WiFi was just fine. I've read somewhere that certain providers limit speeds when phone looks like it is a PC to prevent people from tethering. APNS would normally solve this issue.
If I recall correctly it was from "Sprint" and all providers using their bands.

Hi all,
After upgrading to EMUI 10 three days ago, all my Google apps (Maps, YouTube, News, Google Play Store, ect) won't work on mobile data (but.......they all work perfectly on WiFi.)
I tried to check the settings but I didn't seem to find anything wrong.
All other non-Google apps work on both mobile data and WiFi.
Any ideas/suggestions?
I've been trying to fix this for around 3 days now. Nothing works rn, I think its a software bug. For me all apps on mobile data do not work...(unless i restart phone or hit airplane mode on and off until it works)
