It has supersu built into settings. AFAIK, gapps have nothing to do with supersu anyway.

I'm having push notification problems with this ROM. Several apps (Whatsapp, Hangouts, Wechat, etc) are not receiving pushes until I actually open the app. I have tried clean installing and using different gapps, but same issue remains.
Anyone having similar issues, or have any suggestions?

Try flashing stock kernel first and then Franco. I'm not facing any such issue on Code Blue so I guess it's got something to do with the kernel if the problem persists.

You can flash directly. Obviously clean flash. Also you'll need 5.0.1 gapps. I would recommend PA ones.

Do you guys find this is stable enough for a daily driver? Trying to find which ROM to flash on my wife's nexus 5 that is stable but has more features than stock Google 5.0.1
Also is default kernel recommended or is a different custom kernel recommended in order to get fixes and updates faster?
Does the ota updates part work?

Its very stable and battery friendly. I'm yet to find a bug to be honest. Plus it has a lot of useful features.
I would recommend code_blue or ElementalX kernels. Best battery life with balanced performance... OTA works but it's not delta updates... Basically it notifies you about updates and changelogs...

Thx for the reply I'm thinking of flashing this ROM cleanly since my wife is having problems of having apps randomly exit while she's using them etc (not a FC so not a crash) and other quirks. Plus I think she would like the custom features that custom Roms provide too. I was also leaning towards elemental X kernel after reading about it. How do u customize it? Any specific app?
As long as I can dirty flash the updates without problems I should be OK, hopefully delta upgrades gets added in the future
What DPI do u guys run?

absolutely. if youre on a aosp based rom, you can even try a dirty flaah(not wiping anything. but make a backup in recovery first, just in case. if your on a stock or cm based rom, you will have wipe data(factory reset) first
edit.. just read, youre on stock. so, in recovery before you flash this rom(+gapps, +supersu), you will have to wipe data(factory reset)(nothing else) first. dont wipe whats in your storage!

All I really know of are the improved quick settings features, a few animations, new security, HD voice calling, dual sim support, some contact app tweaks, and other various system tweaks. This is Android 5.1, I'm not sure of it but I think the memory leak is rumored to be fixed in Android 5.1.1.

There was absolutely nothing for our device merged since I updated last. So I'm going to cherry-pick a few things so at least there will be an update worth downloading. I'll be updating tomorrow morning instead of tonight.
I added an updated build with a few cherry-picks including the ability to change your screen density, for those who like to do that sort of thing.
I've tried CM 11 and it was decent, except for the app redraws at times. Any other KitKat based Custom Roms that give decent performance and battery life?
I've tried many Lollipop based ROMS such as CM 12.1 and Candy 5 ROM but they have app redraws and the phone charges very slowly on Candy 5 ROM. I haven't tried AOSP but in general I think stock KitKat 4.4.4 was faster and better than stock Lollipop 5.0.2.
Sent from my Moto G 2014 using Tapatalk
Titan Prime 1.03 is a very stable Lollipop. No charging or redraw issues and it's stock based. There is a later version, but 1.03 seems to be the best.
Sent from my GT-P5210 using Tapatalk
According to me the best kitkat based rom you can use is stock rom itself.. It gives the best battery backup and best multitasking.. For battery life use Greenify and hibernate all the useless apps you don't use (I get around 5hrs+ of on screen time) and for multitasking use the RT Ram manager script by DiamondBond and choose supermultitasking option in it. After that install xposed with GravityBox so you can have all the cyanogen mod features! I'm using it since 3 months and yes I've tried all the lollipop and kitkat roms (including cm11)and byfar, stock rom is the most stable and battery efficient rom you can ever get.

The reason I'm looking for a KitKat based ROM is because I found that KitKat ran faster than Lollipop for me. I compared my friend's Moto G2 (running Lollipop stock) and my Moto G2 (running KitKat) and my phone opened up apps and everything evidently faster than his phone. My theory is that if stock lollipop is slower than stock kitkat, all custom ROMs based on Lollipop will be slower than ROMs based on KitKat.
I've used CM 12.1 as well as Candy 5 ROM (which was praised for its RAM management) but I got app redraws on both of these and battery charging was quite slow on the latter.
Anyway, I'll give Titan Prime ROM a shot and see how it goes. However, in case that doesn't work well, could you suggest a decent KitKat based ROM?
If it were me I'd do what the other poster said, stay on stock and root. For the simplicity of installing flashable zips like xposed, I would also install TWRP as a custom recovery.

Thanks, I'll do that...
Also, just because the 5.1.1 based custom ROMS (such as CM 12.1 and Candy 5 ROM) lag, is it right to infer that 5.1.1 stock will also lag (i.e. when it releases for Moto G 2nd gen) ?

I would think not. I personally don't use the CM based roms, for various reasons I don't care for them. Honestly though, I have had no lagging on the stock based roms. I do put Titanium Backup on first thing and debloat any rom I flash. Right now on 5.02 with transitions turned off in developer options, my phone is just as fast as it ever was in kit kat.

Thanks... Is there a specific reason that you turn off the animations? Does keeping them on give you any issues as such?
EDIT: Also, I should mention that majority of the app redraws I do face are when I press the home button whilst using Chrome (even though only 1 tab is open and no other major apps are in the background).
Try MicroMod by DiamondBond: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/rom-micro-mod-11-t3032290
Very smooth and stable tho not being a custom ROM. Just don't update apps from the play store and try expose for customization.

Well, @DiamondBond optimized the apps himself (compressed for less ram usage and better performance) and when you update them, the optimization is lost.
Still, this is (in my opinion) the best rom so far, very very fast, stable and smooth.

Chomp SMS lets you do that in stock Kit Kat. It's best feature that I lost in Lollipop was it auto enabling data to send or receive MMS, then disabling data. The developer wasn't able to offer that feature in Lollipop.

My Nexus 6 is on TeamOcto OS with their custom kernel but this glitch also happens on other custom firmware that i flash a custom kernel too.
When using certain apps like the you tube app or waze the screen glitches out into like 4 different boxes and the only fix so far is to switch off my screen and switch it back on. I want to know if it is due to a faulty part on my phone or if it is because of the kernel's i flash onto the phone
Edit: Will post a picture when it decides to glitch out, since it isn't doing it right now

Old hat, this glitch is. There are equal chances that it is either software or hardware related. The right kernel may solve this, as well as making sure to use the default DPI (560). If it's hardware related, you'll be looking to RMA the device.
Can't RMA it since I bought it of of swappa but I'll probably just try flashing a different ROM without flashing a custom kernel
This comes up in the ElementalX kernel thread every so often. Recommend work around is to use Interactive governor.

I had this problem and the only two kernels that every resolved this were Flash kernel and LeanKernel (which is no longer supported and has not been updated in ages) Somewhere here in XDA for my nexus 6 I posted a photo of the same problem, it typically have happened after playing youtube videos.
I stopped using Elemental X as I have this problem with it every time, I know there is the interactive governor to resolve it but I just went to LeanKernel and then to Flash kernel. Problem solved.

Actually it is a combo of the two. People seem to think that any kernel will work with any rom. This is not the case. Each room team codes their kernel to work with the rom so other kernels may not work.

That's true, but I haven't heard of any specific rom for elemental x. Not bashing elemental x, it was my preferred kernel for my nexus 5. I am thinking it depends on the date your specific nexus 6 was built, some aren't affected, while some are . They were shipped with different eMMC and ram

True. This is why I only use the kernel that comes with the rom I am using. This way I know they are coded to work together.
Please excuse my bumping an old thread.
I recently decrypted my Nexus 6 and the problem completely stopped. The Interactive Governor solution only decreased the frequency of the occurences.
Hope this helps!

I don't know why included gapps and su is a big pro. You only need to flash it once as it survives updates.
Personally I don't think there is something like 'the best ROM' as everybody has different needs or preferences.
Also I am not the right person to recommend a ROM as I am highly biased as LineageOS maintainer.
But if you look at the other ROM's shamu sources you'll see where the real development was done

Thanks brain.
Magisk is the reason for those errors, im using custom kernel since android 7.0 with system less superSU only, I already tried three different custom kernels here and they didn't gave me any camera errors

Wow, smartass answer for someone who can't flash a kernel without breaking the camera.
Actually, the answer is the solution you need, search and read.

Thank you friend, sometimes being nice and giving the simple solution is the simplest method.

What it's a shame is that there are people who don't know how to read.
Magisk does work with custom kernels, but the order you flash them in is important. Magisk alters certain files in the /boot partition, which is also where the kernel is located. You should flash Magisk first over a clean ROM prior to flashing any custom kernels, or else you may run into issues. If an update for Magisk is pushed, you should also install it in the following order:
1) Dirty flash ROM (or stock kernel)
2) Flash Magisk
3) Flash custom kernel
I'm currently using Magisk v11.6 with Franco's r16 on OOS 4.1.0 without a problem.
Don't mean to be rude, but did you flash the compatible kernel; and not using adb sideload problems; on TWRP 3.0.4-1?
If you did, well then Magisk seems to be a problem for you.
And do post logs next time of you encounter a problem until and unless you are sure you everybody can reproduce that problem with the steps mentioned (which should be though)
If you're still in Android 7.0 (like me), do not use the latest custom kernel release, it will break your camera (Unknown Error). I think it's because the dev has rebased their kernel to the new Android 7.1.1.
Currently, I'm still on FredomOS 2.5 (OOS 4.0.3) and its combined with BluSpark v.72 (last release before the 7.1.1 rebase).
I don't want to use the latest OOS update since it's still full of annoying bugs.
In my opinion only people who understand what they are doing with this kind of stuff should get the oneplus 3 or 3t as it isn't very noob friendly and takes someone that is some what an advanced user or at least knows a little about flashing ROMs and kernels etc..... Or at least is willing to search around and read before they complain to everyone that they can't figure it out. If you want a phone that is simple and noob use friendly then go to Samsung or Apple. not oneplus as phone from this company are aimed at the intermediate up to power user that understands how to solve irregular problems. I've had none of these issues even when I was using my oneplus x. I use the unofficial RR with ex kernel and no problems with camera or anything and great battery life. Bottom line is (in my opinion anyways) oneplus phones are for the more technically savvy so if you aren't some one like that expect to run in to difficulties and have to do some deep research in certain cases. But this is a great community here at xda and we are all willing to help as much as we can but patience is a must.

Same exact order as you, even flashed fresh ROM and kernel only. Can't explain it at all. For now, I'm on stock with no custom kernel but have magisk.

No sideload, using most recent TWRP, and yes, I will have logs to post tomorrow. As a quick flasher I never really bother for the logs, but this time I'm getting down to the bottom of this. I'll have logs tomorrow

Flashing kernels made for 7.1.1 on 7.0 FW.

You might want to read the kernel threads for help. Seems like if it was a kernel issue like you claim then someone else might have noticed it. Sounds like user error to me

Hi all !
This discussion might be related with my issue explained here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/camera-flashlight-youtube-t3886260
but only thing is I never flashed custom kernels, issue appears after a official update !
Any opinion, ideas ?
Thanks
