GPE on the m8 - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Runs so smooth, just got this phone free from sprint, S-OFF it, installed a GPE lollipop ROM and I am in LOVE. And I've had a lot of phones. Thank you XDA!

agreed, probably the smoothest gpe port ive used on the m7 and now m8. Props should go to captin throwback and digitalhigh and their respective teams on making such a wonderful rom.

Aside from the annoying voice-mail notification, this thing it tits.

What I've been doing is every few hours clearing the phone.apk cache. Goes away, come back in a couple hours, maybe the next day. What was causing the issue?

From what I've read its a voicemail that's been left on an old phone but still shows up I never got it on sense based Roms but as soon as I put aosp or gpe, voicemail consistently and I'm doing the easy pay which means I can't swap out to another phone leave a voicemail on it then delete it and switch back which should also clear it, thus my solution was to edit the smali in the apk and haven't had a problem since and since I'm not the only one with the issue I posted a fix for us unfortunate enough to have said issue. Annoying? Yes, but now its all good with the fix. It should work for any gpe and even cm(haven't tested yet)

Is your GPS working on GPE lollipop? I'm on HK edition.

Yeah if it isn't for you easiest method is to boot a sense based rom and open maps to get a lock on location then reboot immediately from there to gpe

Thank you this worked perfectly.

[GUIDE] Easily Enable 1080p YouTube on ALL Nexus 5!

As many of you may know by now, Google rolled out the ability to play 1080p YouTube on 1080p Android devices. However, most Nexus 5s, and countless other 1080p phones don't have this functionality. It's seemingly random, but it isn't. Why, you ask?
Because ONLY Android versions 4.4.2 and L get this luxury. How do I know this? Well, I've tested this on almost half a dozen different Android phones.
Enabling 1080p (and 480p) playback in YouTube is frustratingly simple, and WORKS ON ALL 1080P ANDROID DEVICES WITH YOUTUBE v5.7+!!
So let's get into it! FYI, you need ROOT for this tweak:
First,
------ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR BUILD.PROP BEFORE EDITING IT-----
I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong on your phone. This is dead simple though, and if you create a backup there should be no problems
1: Open your build.prop file, and find this line:
"ro.build.version.release=x.x.x"
(With "x.x.x" being your current Android version number)
2: Then, replace that "x.x.x" with "4.4.2". The line should look exactly like this, (without quotes of course):
"ro.build.version.release=4.4.2"
3: Save, then reboot your phone.
4: Open up YouTube, play a 1080p video, and select 1080p from the resolution menu.
5: Profit
Note that this will make Settings and all other apps think you're on 4.4.2. However, your phone will still be on whatever version you started with (this isn't just gonna magically upgrade your OS XD). In order to revert back to stock (you must temporarily revert back to install OTAs), restore your build.prop backup or simply change "x.x.x" back to what it was before.
--If this helped you please leave a Like and share it with your friends! If you do mention it somewhere, please give me/this thread credit --
EDIT: So far, I've only posted this on here and the OnePlus forums (under the same username).
UPDATE: According to a couple people on the forums, Google has fixed the issue on their side so that you can see 1080p regardless of your Android version. Unfortunately, my only device now (the LG G3) is still on 4.4.2 so I can't test it. Also, I'll leave this guide up in case anyone still has issues

When I had the Developer Preview on my Nexus, 1080p was an option by default, so I couldn't say. There's no reason why it shouldn't work, though

So this also explains why updating to 4.4.3 on the M8 removes the 1080p option. Stupid Google!

Very nice catch
Just to clarify, this is a Google issue? Reason I ask is that would explain why the G3 is beginning to get the 1440p option due to the screen but why haven't Google enabled their own phone? It makes no sense...
I get 1080p without messing with it lol.

Stupid google, what about 4.4.4? as anyone tried that version number, as its basically 4.4.4 anyway, ill gladly add it to build.prop if it works.

4.4.4 isn't on the M8 yet (they say they've rolled the security updates into 4.4.3 but hmmmm) but on my Nexus 5 running 100% stock 4.4.4 I only get 720p (I don't root my phones any more so although this information is good it doesn't help me!)

I tested 4.4.4, 4.4.3, 4.4.2, and 4.4 on the M8 GPE, Z Ultra GPE, and Nexus 5 (L also on the Nexus 5 also). 4.4.2 and L are the only two to receive 1080p/480p YouTube.

Lol weird i wonder why not for 4.4.3/4 so if you want to use it without changing build.prop then you need an modded youtube app right? Nice thread btw i didnt knew about it since i was still using on kitkat the old youtube v4 app. Another thing to do when i have time is looking into the youtube app and maybe find some hidden stuff
I tried this on Mahdi ROM. It just makes the 1080p option show up in the settings, but I cannot switch to it.

This is a glitch on some ROMs (from my understanding you tap it but the bubble doesn't fill in?), but in my experience it does in fact play 1080p, just not fill in the selection in settings. It may be very difficult to notice the shift in resolution, but I'd try pausing on some text and changing it around. If it actually doesn't change, then I'm guessing it's a problem with the ROM (or even theme for CyanogenMod in some cases).

Easy mode/Simple Launcher... Would it work?

Ok so I've seen this both on the One Max and One M8, just curious if anyone knows or thinks it'll work on the M7.... Here's the thread link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2725455
Anyone with any knowledge or insight on this, lemme know, I'd love a simple little mode like that, actually made by htc and part of Sense. I'm on a Verizon M7 4.4.3 and we don't have it, and I know that the Verizon M8 doesn't either...

I don't have the One mini, but I know in the One Max forums they flashed it n it worked n I know they don't have 4.4.4, just trying to get some feedback before flashing n avoiding having to do a restore of possible. I'll probably give it a whirl within the next day or 2 if nobody knows. Been curious about this 4 a while now

Just looked under all the sections under settings about phone and nothing about One Mini, just HTC6500LVW . I dunno, it doesn't seem like it's something that could break anything, especially since it appears to be just a launcher of sorts that's dependent on the Sense 6 framework.
On a unrelated topic, I just flashed the new Moto Droid Turbo Control Center Widget and it's lib files, and that works... (look at me , going OT in my own thread) anyways, point being, I'm just gonna go ahead and flash it 2morrow morning when I wake up. I've got a good nandroid , so it can't really hurt.

Don't say that. A nandroid is not a complete fail safe.
Just figured I'd let everyone know it installs fine, and for the most part, it works. As stated in original thread, when u click messages, it says app not installed, and it disabled the little green unread msg count that usually pops up next to the msg icon when u get a new msg
Update: 3/10/15- FOUND A SOLUTION THAT EASY MODE WORKS PERFECTLY ON MY M7 (Verizon). . When u flash the EASY MODE zip, it messes up the stock HTC green unread count u have on sense... BUT- If u extract the apk and install it normally, it installs , it WORKS 100 % , and doesn't mess up unread count.

Why does this keep happening?

At first there were some reboots on custom Roms and kernels I chose to run - no big deal. But then I decided to run stock Roms and this began to happen. I'm not exactly sure how to recreate it but it seems to happen when I pick the phone up after it gets a notification. I went back to the complete stock, unrooted image and boom! It happened again! If anyone knows what's going on your insight is greatly appreciated. The phone is not even a week old.

RIP HTC Vivid

It saddens me that our beloved phone is officially dead. I hope some dev out there challenges our desire for a 5.0 update by destroying hardware limitations, battery consumption and the occational bugs. I'll be waiting for the day that Vivid rises from the ashes.
I'm still using mine since 2012, it's a good, reliable phone but admittedly has awful battery life.
Well, if it's hard to love, and you loved it. You're married to it.
RIP
Still using mine every day, thought admittedly as a WiFi-only device. Still a great screen and camera though. Just wish I could get a download of this custom ROM though as all the links in the thread have not surprisingly expired:

I'm currently using that ROM by Albinoman, i think you can send him a private message and ask for a link.
I don't have any copies of the rar file because i've been in this ROM for the past 4 years or so and my PC had a lot of anomalies that required a reformat.
I hope you find the link, you're gonna love it.

Well man you might be in luck. I'm porting 5.1.1 as we speak. Just a warning IDGAF about cellular connections, bluetooth or..... a lot of things. I want the camera to work, wifi and all my apps to work. SO. Maybe once I do that I can work on everything else if I want... But I really have a burning desire to at least boot Lollipop on this device. Cheers.

[7.1.2] |Unofficial| 2017.5.26 Lineageos14.1(Probably) for m7spr

Built using latest lineageos source
Don't blame me for something strange in the settings
Thats something I'm working on of my own project
(Also the reason for the "Probably" in the title)
It should have no bugs. I'm not a heavy user of m7 and up till now it worked pretty fine

no bugs ? should be there ? as the lineage build itself is not stable
I'll give this a shot.
Oddly the past few weeks I've been having ridiculous random reboots on text messages with good ol cm11. Even No HTC/sprint/Google software installed.
Flash the stock rom, no issues...
Never had this issue the past 4 years until recently... And Trump has been trying to change some laws... Ironic!

What about GSM sim and APN? Looks like "no sim" on screenshot.
Works good. Some minor issue.
Bluetooth isn't passing Pandora info to cars Bluetooth. Kk worked OK.
Setup wizards times out activating cellar service on every boot , canceling it kills it, and works regardless.
Texting/cdma/callls/lte are OK.
I've gotten a few random reboots, not sure if it's related to me and the stupid things I try. It was flawless until I started to add my personal daily driver apps.
Tethered 120Gb the past few days through it without issue. Gets warm, but I need to get my new battery installed.
Anything specific or logs just ask and I'll try hand supply them.
Much Michael appreciated work on the efforts to keep the m7 living strong! I have 4 more spares...
