Camera Aspect Ratio Issue

I used to have 5MP /16:9 back and 2.4MP front camera but after upgrading to Lollipop it's downgraded to 4.9MP/4:3 and 1.9MP/4:3
I am wondering why is that? why Lollipop messed up the Camera? how come I get over from this and take 5MP/16:9 photos again like I used to do.

I am also having the same problem.
So, lollipop is just a software update, so no real megapixel change here. After comparing it with the kitkat's camera, there is no quality difference I noticed. So no need to worry there's nothing wrong with the camera and lollipop update.
But there is a change. Camera was not like that. Another one is that when I click pictures of white paper then the picture comes out bluish in colour and the focal distance has been reduced to 3.44mm. But in HDR the focal distance is 3.5mm.
I tried taking a photo of a white sheet but did not notice any blue coloration as mentioned. And we all know that this mobile is not for professional photography but to take OK pics (no offence).

P20 pro photo colors

Hi everybody,
Anyone else here having the same issue
I think there are some issues with software regarding image colors.. Resolution and focus are gr8 but the images sometimes looks washed out(specially front cam) and some times looks so sharpened
This issue is confirmed after i saw mkbhd camera blind test
Can we open a ticket with customer support regarding this issue?
I'am so confused about that issue.. the camera hardware is gr8 by the way.. And the night images specially are gr8
Apparently the front facing camera is improved in future updates. As for being washed out, I think this is because the camera is overexposing slightly.
As for the over sharpening, if you install snapseed from the play store you can reduce the detail which effectively reduces the over sharpening.
I'd rather have a slightly sharper image I can reduce the sharpness, than something from the S9 for example which is not sharp enough.
It's kind of like having better low light capability than the S9, with sharper images than the Pixel 2. The only thing the Pixel 2 does better is takes pictures of is moving flowers and selfies.
Hi guys..
I have discovered an alternative camera app that solves the overexposure/soft images of the native camera app.
Image 1 - Taken with the CameraMX app.
Image 2 - Taken with Native p20 pro cam
As you can see, there is a noticeable quality difference in terms of contrast, details, color temperature and saturation. Personally, i like Image 1 better
I'm on update 128 and the front camera still overexposed.
It's not over exposed, the white balance is more accurate.

Here is a tip to improve selfie picture quality

Use the ar emoji camera instead of the default one, the picture just comes out way better, there's more detail and better colors.
Idk why but when using the stock app the picture looks ok on the viewfinder, but when you take the picture the quality just drops a ton, even on Instagram i get better selfies.
when taking a selfie use the wide angle camera its not actually taking a wider pic but instead not croping the image so you get a higher resolution selfie pic.

[PHOTO PRO] Burst mode vs single shot photo quality

Hi,
Is it just me or does anyone notice the difference in photo quality between photos taken with “single shot” and “burst (both LO and HIGH)”?
It appears to me photos taken using “Burst” mode are merely just “screenshots” taken from a “video” that starts recording the moment you long press on the shutter button...if this is the case, the burst function would be kind of lame (I wish I’m wrong)
I don't think they quality is worse with burst. Here are 2 photos I've taken with burst. I have a hard time believing they would been better with a single shot! Got many burst photos of my kids to that are great. Love burst mode. Brrrrrrrrrrap

I'm on Tapatalk so maybe the pics are being downscaled as fck...

I've noticed mostly the colours are less contrasted and that there's a smidge more noise but assist from that, it's great stuff. Much better than a screen grab from a video feed
The colors seem to be a tad more washed out for the BURST SHOTS compared to the NORMAL SINGLE SHOTS. Hope they can continue improving the quality of the burst shots over time with updates

Question Poor quality when taking pics of people

Hello guys,
First of all I love the camera. It is so good but I am facing two issues and would be good if anyone has a solution.
1- When recording a video and zoom between 1.1 - 2.9 the quality is super poor and unusable, however on 1X or 3X the quality is super sharp and great, I am not sure why the main lens act poor when zooming in to 2.9 before switching to the tele lens.
2- taking selfies is great when there is one person or two in the photo but when there are more than 2 in the photo, their faces become so cartoony with no details, even in day light, this happen also when using the back camera. I am using the standard resolution, no idea if using the 40mb or the 108mb will make any different
Other than these, the camera is great!

1. That's normal. 1.1 to 2.9x zoom is digital zoom. Don't expect the same quality as when you didn't zoom.
2. Use group selfie or disable bokeh from your selfie shots.
