One of the standard features in the stock Google Phone app was caller ID for incoming calls that are not in your contacts. I had this on my gs3 with cm11. So far I have not been successfully able to locate an option on my turbo to get it to work. Anyone have this working?

I miss this! I thought it was a standard kit kat feature but apparently not? Anyone have any idea how to get this back? (had it on my S3 with slimkat)
Verizon prolly wants you to pay for the caller id app that comes on the phone

If you have a Maxx you can install it following these instructions, works fine.

I use the TrueCaller app which I find to be pretty amazing

I'm looking for an android app that will answer a phone call after a defined number of rings and record voicemails to my SD. It obviously doesnt need to run if the phone is powered down.
I think the problem in designing this is having sound sent from an app to the caller.
Does anybody know if this exists? (in all countries.. ie not googlevoice)

Youmail? I've used it for years and love it.

Youmail is awesome, no regrets using it, especially since it's free

Anything that can be used in canada? Youmail doesn't work here.
Ya as he said you mail is the best and its free!
Paragon rc4 rom
espyel paragon r4 v.2.6.32.9

Try hullomail. Its free too.
Are the actually any voicemail apps for the phone itself. I really don't want to subscribe to a service even it it is free and would rather have all my voicemail left on the phone as OP originally requested.
Hello,
I just switched from a Nexus 4 to the Moto X (on T-Mobile, running stock). I noticed that my dialer in the Moto X is missing the Google Now functionality (it's not searching local businesses, etc)
Is this happening to anybody else? Is there a setting that I'm missing that turned the feature off?
I found a support entry from Google (Use caller ID by Google) but the option listed (Menu > Settings > Caller ID by Google) is not available on my phone.
I'm going to go home and check on my Nexus 4.
Never mind, I figured it out. Please delete me
Thanks!
Just what did you figure out?

Probably that it's a feature only available on Nexus devices.
Yeah, That's what I came up with... which is why I asked.
Ya I read in an article it didn't make the cut, but all you have to do is install it, it's posted the forums

Has anyone figured out how to get this working with the stock launcher? I'd really like to use the Google Dialer but I don't want to have to use Nova.
Use one of shortcut creating apps in the store. See thebdialer tread in Apps forum.

So I have a Moto x that I bought from ting. I unlocked the bootloader through the Motorola website. Then I flashed a nightly Cyanogenmod 11 room through TWRP custom recovery. All works well through ting. But the unlock screen and notification tray say Verizon wireless.
Anything I can do about That?
Also does anyone know when active notifications or touches or control might be added? Or can I add them myself?

What's ting? And good luck with seeing any of the Moto-specific apps getting added to CM. Grab them off the Play Store, I have no idea of they'll work or not.

The play store tells me they are not compatible with my device. Ting is an mvno carrier that uses Sprints network. When you call them during normal business hours a live human answers the phone, and the pricing is quite good. I highly recommend them.
Maybe I will go back to stock Android 4.4 and simply have root. Now I have to figure out how to do that.

Can you link me to the cyanogen version you used please?

Surely....... http://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/51605/cm-11-20131217-EXPERIMENTAL-xt1060.zip
That is the direct link to the download. It works great on my phone. But I miss the two features that make the moto x the moto x. Without the active notifications and touchless control I may as well get a Nexus 5.

What exactly does CM give you that rooted stock with Xposed and Gravitybox can't or don't?

Cm gives less customization than stock ROM does , you still need exposed and gravity box, also cm gives you sound issues and camera issues

Yeah after a few days I can't recommend doing what I did. I'm gonna go back to stock rooted. I have no data and my handset doesn't work through the normal earpiece (speaker phone only)

I have the Gummy 4.4.4 PA ROM and can't figure out how to get VZW visual voicemail to work, did some searching and saw some possible build prop changes that could possibly fix the issue, has anyone had any success getting thus to work on the VS989 G2 rooted with a custom ROM.
Thanks in advance

May not be what you're looking for, but have you tried Google voice? It has the ability to transcribe to Sms and replay voice mail (among other things). I've never used Verizon visual voice mail; is there a feature other than voice mail transcription?
Could somebody who has an AT&T branded Nexus 6 being able to provide the apks for both of these apps? I have an unlocked Nexus 6 on AT&T but these apps in the Play Store are not compatible for the Nexus 6 for some reason. Thanks!
I have a branded phone but can not get it either...
I was able to install but I get this error message. I have an unbranded nxs 6

You have to turn off WiFi and just be on the network when you first set it up.
Just got a call from a customer (I do tech support for at&t) and he was upset device is not supported. Too bad I can't really recommend side loading as it would mean referring to a non supported website.
i downloaded the apk from here. works fine on my n6.

I'm also looking for the messages app. The voicemail app is now available on the play store but not it.
