Any of you experiencing this? I have my phone for 10 days and for 7 straight days now, my phone is powering off by itself even if still have at least 50% charge. I haven't rooted it yet, all stock.
Yeah it's a known issue at the moment and I don't think there's currently any fix for our problem. Or I at least I haven't checked the thread that's open for this issue in a couple days. From what I read it seems to be hit or miss on the first wave of Nexus 6's from ATT and Motorola. I'm not sure about the T-mobile, Verizon, and Sprint versions of the phone.
Got a notification for Software update, I think it's 5.0.1, but I didn't update. That's when my phone powers off by itself. When I a do a manual systems update, it says my phone is up to date under version 5.0. Could the update might've fixed this?
I just read that if you have the Amazon apps installed on your phone that's part of the problem. Google and Motorola confirmed they're working to address the issues with the reboots and shutdowns people have experienced. 5.0.1 is suppose to fix some of the bugs but not all. Amazon apps or Appstore is related to most of the reboots due to an incompatibility with the OS.
Yeah the amazon app is quite slow on the n6

My phone did the same thing. I returned it to AT&T for a full refund and will wait until I can get my hands on something not from AT&T.
AT&T Random Shutdown
I had a Pre-Order and mine was doing it almost twice a day. I returned it and exchanged at the store for a newer one. The new ones have a green dot on the box next to the IMEI barcode. Been on the new one for a week and a half and it has done it 3 times now (it is updated to 5.01). However now when I power it back on my home screens are wiped, essentially set to default but everything is still installed and setup EXCEPT google now. I do have amazon apps installed but just removed after reading previous post, will see what happens.
I went to store also and they will exchange again but IDK at this point if it will help?
Mine has turned off by itself twice now, I am on 5.0.1. Having come from the LG G3 which would do this whenever I took a photo, unless I switched to Airplane Mode, I thought I had seen the back of this problem.
Also the OK Google recognition screen cuts in when watching You Tube videos all the time.
I'll remove the amazon app. And see what happens.

I uninstalled both Amazon app and the Kindle app. Lets see what happens.
Just an update: 2 days after uninstalling amazon and kindle app, my N6 hasn't powered off by itself. I think it does affect my phone.
I removed Kindle App and Amazon app on 12/19/14 no reboots since.
That's good news, is it possible the Amazon app was causing the issue? I got my N6 from t-mobile and experienced my random reboot about an hour after the initial setup and 5.0.1 update. Wiped Cache Partition as suggested on another thread. But if the Amazon all is the issue here I will uninstall it too...come to think of it I setup my Amazon app last along with my Ebay and NewEgg and shortly after my phone restarted....hmmm thanks for the info guys!
I uninstalled all Amazon apps (appstore, instant video and the Amazon app itself) and still having that shutdown issue. Totally annoying. As far as I could see it almost only happened while my earphones are plugged in. Just happened 1 time without plugged in earphone. 2 weeks N6, already about 10+ random shutdowns. Any known solution for that? It's totally annoying... :/
Running latest Euphoria OS, but also happened before rooting.
Going to uninstall Amazon App
I have been having random reboots lately almost 3-4 times a week. It is getting super annoying and i did notice that i do have the amazon app installed. I have uninstalled it and will see if it helps with the random reboots/power off. Thanks for the updates information on this issue.
I haven't encountered this prob for over 2 weeks already. I guess it's amazon.
I just had my Play Store nexus 6 reboot on me. Its on verizon, never have installed amazon. Very light amount of apps installed, almost nothing running. Stock, unrooted. 5.0.1
Hrm
rebooting is real
My new Nexus keeps rebooting about twice a day. Missed several calls due to this.
. 5.0.1, noncarrier. 5 apps installed. Do I have get an iPhone - shudder.
What apps do you have installed? Is the 5.01 factory installed or updated through your carrier?

I'll try to keep this brief. Earlier tonight I downloaded the Nova Launcher on the google play store. It worked fine, I set it up how I wanted, etc etc. Well I went to looking for an app to replace the circles app on stock ICS. I found an app called "Fancy Widgets" and downloaded it. Practically as soon as it finished downloading my phone rebooted. I thought, maybe, it just needed to reboot for the app to take effect. I had to do that with a previous phone.
But no, Now my phone is just in a constant loop of boot and load to the home screen, wait 10-20 seconds and reboot. It just keeps going through this over and over so basically my phone is useless at the moment.
Does anyone know how to help this? I'm lost. If I can't get it figured out I'm going to have to stay up all night trying to figure it out because my phone is my alarm clock and I'll oversleep otherwise. So.. Please help!! Thanks!

Already tried power and volume down button (6 sec)?
Good news is the att sound works as a good alarm. I found out when mine did that. Restart in safe mode by holding down power and volume rocker then do a factory reset.

funny, I've had nova launcher working with fancy widgets when i updated my phone and it went into a reboot loop. it only happened to me when i updated the phone though
My first Atrix HD rebooted itself daily, sometimes bootlooping and causing me a lot of grief. The phone was fine for the first two days. After that, it went haywire. I would run logcats to try to determine the causes of the bootloops. I always found an error with some random app. I'd uninstall it and the phone would be fine for awhile. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that a problem with the wifi radio was the underlying cause. If not, the wifi problem and reboots were co-morbid, so to speak, and related to the same problem. I was pretty sure the real problem had to do with faulty hardware. I exchanged the phone for another. I've had this one for three days now and it just rebooted itself about 15 minutes ago. That bugs me.
I like the phone, but I think there may be an unusually high number of defective units out there. That's based solely on anecdotal information, but I believe it to be true. If anyone has any additional theories or has an explanation for these reboots, that would be a great help to me.

Yeah, I wish someone knew what the problem was. After I posted this originally at the beginning of October, I deleted Fancy Widgets and didn't have any more problems with boot loop until this week. I blamed it on my two newest apps and un-installed them, but the problem is there somewhere and I randomly reboot after installing Nova back.
This really bothers me. I had just gotten used to how I had everything set up in Nova. The stock launcher is disappointing in comparison now that I've experienced something better.

Replying to myself, but yeah..
It now looks like my issue has something to do with DoubleTwist music player. Nova worked until I tried to put a DoubleTwist widget on my homescreen and it IMMEDIATELY went into boot loop.
Just had my first forced reboot this morning. Cant really believe it happened since im not running a custom rom. Onlything ive done of running the phone for 2 days has been rooted it with PwnMyMoto, installed Xposed\MotoXposed, and froze MyATT and Visual Voicemail apps with Titanium Backup.
I have pretty much The same setup and i had one reboot and im sure it was from zooper widget ...never happend again since i uninstalled it

Also had 1 reboot while checking a very long email chain in Gmail with lots of embedded images. I'm pretty sure Android does this as a safeguard when the system is overloaded in some way. Don't think it's an issue.
Had one while poking at Greenify. No issues since that point and I've poked at Greenify plenty.
Random reboots have been a thing since my first Android phone. Hasn't gone away since.
Just noticed my first random reboot. Phone was sitting on my desk sleeping then it randomly rebooted.
Barely installed any apps, running stock rom unrooted unlocked.
I've had this issue with my Samsung phones in the past, too.
Is this something I'll just need to live with? Is it a software or hardware issue?
Had one while on call yesterday
I get reboots in my vehicle all the time. At first I thought it was Drive assist or whatever so I disabled that. Turns out my Bluetooth is the culprit. I can't really narrow down what specifically makes it happen, but it only reboots when I'm in the car. I expect it now and wait for it. Annoying.
I've had 2 random reboots so far, unfortunately this is a somewhat common issue that should be improved after an update or two.
Has anyone else had this happen? Mine did and there's a big gap in my battery usage. I'm singing l assuming this will get fixed when they post the factory images considering the N9 has had 4 updates so far.

Happened today while I was on youtube, so far only once. What do you mean of big gap in my battery usage? Did the battery % decreased after the reboot or are you referring to the battery usage graph? On mine the usage graph restarted but the battery % was a continuation..

Yes it did here's a screen shot I took. I had a brief one earlier but this one was worse.
Phone rebooted today when i received a video message in hangouts.
Mine now does this weird thing where it opens random apps to the setting menu that has the option to force stop, disable and uninstall and keeps flashing and switching between them. I haven't unlocked the BL yet or done anything to the phone, I think its a software bug and hopefully google will release an update soon.
Edit: the random weird thing described above was caused by Greenify so I uninstalled it.

I've had a couple more, I called Google today and made a trouble ticket to see if they are pushing out an updated build for us. I awaiting their response, but I'm certain they will fix this with an update.
Well it looks i got a lemon, its rebooting every 2 minutes, anyone knows google contact info for RMA?
Mine just started doing this. It happend twice the other day and I thought I did something, but just now while I was surfing the net on my computer with my Nexus 6 right beside me it rebooted for no reason.
Mine hasn't done it since I posted last. My Nexus 9 had the same bug so maybe its an app causing the system reboot.
I was just sitting on the couch 20 minutes ago, with both my Note 4 and N6 sitting next to me. I wasn't using either, but almost in unison, they both randomly restarted.

It's the aliens!
i get them a few times daily as well. usually it happens much quicker if i disable mpdecision, and use the ondemand governor. if i dont change anything, then i might make it through the day without a reboot. oh, and 99% of all my reboots happen when im using the browser. and the odd thing is, no last_kmsg gets produced.
I had two reboots an hour after I activated the phone on T-Mobile for no apparent reason. Went into network settings and changed from Global to LTE and the reboots never happened again
I changed mine from Global to LTE a week ago once I activated it yet mine has rebooted at least 3 times. I did notice that the last time was after I used wireless charging. I'm wondering if maybe the heat caused it to reboot.

I also just picked one up from Bell (32GB Blue) today and had a random reboot while the phone was sitting on my desk idle. This was moments after tons of updates from the Play store. I read in some threads that doing a factory reset didn't work for most.
I also got a 15MB system update, on stock build LRX21O. Hope this isn't caused by hardware!
Edit: Just sent a text using "Textra", 2 mins later a random reboot occurred...

So I just had another one immediately after opening and closing the Messenger App (I stopped using hangouts) ... funny enough, same thing happened yesterday right after I closed the messenger app ... going to go back to hangouts as default and disable the messenger app to see if that helps
Was hoping the 5.0.1 update would fix this problem, but I'm still getting random reboots and shut downs, at least once a day.
my reboots are cured. the ondemand governor is broken in stock, and aosp, and has been the cause of the reboots. as soon as the developer of lean kernel fixed the ondemand, no more reboots using lean kernel
Hey guys, so I've had a bit of an weird issue recently, it started up randomly, I hadn't installed any new apps or anything.
I had rooted my phone and gotten TWRP stuck on it so used Wugfresh to flash it out. During this I fully reset the phone to the stock ROM. Even after this I had this issue. Check attached files for an example of what it looked like.
I thought, maybe it was an app that I had installed previously? So I booted to safe mode and waited a while, and sure enough, the issue persisted.
Today, the Stock 6.0 ROMs were released. So I thought, might as well flash it, my device is being RMA'd for another issue (top speaker loudly crackling when audio isn't being played). So I flashed the 6.0 Stock and left it lying on my laptop for a few minutes as I chatted with a friend on facebook. And sure enough, what's floating there at the bottom of the screen? An empty toast notification.
This is a completely fresh flash. This was on the first screen before I'd logged in or set it to restore my apps or anything. This is the screen where you hit the arrow before adding Wi-Fi and such.
What could this be?
TL;DR: I have constant toast notifications and they're there regardless of safe mode or clean flash. They even exist between major updates (5.1.1 > 6.0)
I have the same issue on my stock ubrooted nexus 5 running 5.1.1
It's driving me crazy! My nexus 6p can't come in the mail any faster!

I've sent in an RMA for my Nexus 6, hopefully I get it replaced. I'm going to use my brother's old iPhone in the meantime while I wait for a response from them, and then leave my replacement unopened and resell it on kijiji. I can't trust my N6 to last when after only around 8 months it's crapping out like this.
Having the same issues on my Nexus 5. Anybody found out?
UPDATE: I installed an Xposed module called Enhanced Toasts, it logs all the toast shown in the device. In my case the Sim Toolkit app showed these blank toasts, i recently changed my SIM.
Anyone else suffering random reboots? I have got my Note 8 N950F for a few days now and sadly have to notice that I see random reboots from time to time. Sometimes I saw the Samsung boot logo, sometimes i noticed it because I hat to enter my PIN after reboot. For now it seems to happen once or twice a day. Quite annoying.

Rogue app?
Sounds like something installed is not agreeing with your device. Usually thins can get tangled up when you do a restore from an old back up for example.
Did you have an older model note device that you restored form perhaps?
I'm using a T-Mobile variant ands no such issues.
As an aside, there is an option in the phone (you may already know this) that will restart the phone at a setting you setup.
Maybe also try clearing cache on your device?
Did you disable a lot of stuff with a package disabler?
A couple of mornings now I've woken and my phone asks for a password because it restarted overnight. I haven't experienced a crash or reboot yet, but something seems to be happening overnight.

Do you have Substratum installed? I installed Swift Dark and noticed what I call mini reboot, phone would lock up for a second and just the carrier label came on and everything was fine again. Was using the S8 for my Substratum setting and I guess the Note 8 isn't compatible yet. Uninstalled most of the layers and haven't had a reboot since.

Ive seen people that posted having random reboots being that they transferred a backup to the new device.
There's something to be said in a fresh manual install into a new machine with new guts and firmware/builds....
My Note 8 just randomly rebooted itself this morning for the first time. I have had my phone since September 7th. After the reboot it has been fine but shortly before it rebooted it quit functioning altogether. I think I will go in and clear the cache when I get to work.

Its a system wide ad-blocking app that does not require root
My note 8 n950u1 has rebooted multiple times, but not in one day. It has restarted for the third time (ever) this morning. The first time was Gmail, second was Facebook, and this third time was Gmail again. My best guess is it might be a ram glitch because it seemed to happen when the app was trying to do a lot. Now, I have no idea if this is true, but it is my best guess. At first I thought it might be because of the snapdragon but seeing how others on an f varient with the exynos chips are rebooting too, that theory is shut down.
Could be apps like others pointed out. 2nd option the battery? But due to how new this phone is, I doubt that. In my past phones it was old bad batteries.
Not a single random reboot since day one, I got my note 8 on 22 Nov 2017, I dont use substratum or adhell, but I installed bk disabler and blocked all bixby, microsoft, google music, video, books, all carrier trash, almost all samsung stuff in "bloatware section", also disabled many services in a lot of apps, I am running naptime, greenify and hibernator, so far, all working fine
SM-N950F here same problem.
Mine ended up random rebooting four times from Sept 7 through about Feb 1. Then about two weeks ago, it completely froze, then decided the port was wet and wouldnt charge at all (port wasn't wet). tried a few things, then did a factory reset, where it actually rebooted probably 20-22 times (well, during the reboot process, the black screen with Samsung flashed probably 20 times).
Needless to say, I talked with Samsung and then TMobile. Got a replacement and it's been great since.
Can't believe it's now been over 5 months since I first got my Note 8. Even counting the replacement, I still LOVE this phone.

Thanks for the update, please keep us up to date even if you continue to have no problems under Oreo. BTW, I have the exact same problem (using N9500 dual SIM with Samsung processor as opposed to Qualcomm) as you but do not have Oreo available yet. I'm getting the restart message every few days and its always after the phone has been idle, usually overnight. Its asking for a PIN due to restart as I use face recognition. Also I transferred over data from a Note 3. Want to ask you, did you try to wipe the phone completely as a solution to the restart problem (before Oreo became available)?
Thanks so much in advance!
I am still waiting for oreo OTA, but after almost 5 months, I have not had a single random reboot or freezing, even though I have a bunch of stuff disabled
