First of all, I've got to say that Android is awesome.
Now here's the thing
I enthusiastically bought a phone with, among many other fantastic things:
1. 800x480 resolution
2. 512mb RAM
3. 32mb storage capability (phones supposed to format 32mb)
4. A high end screen ( that I now understand to be 3 years old), for what should be smooth scrolling
5. stable 3G connectivity
6. And I assumed the gallery would be at least as quality as the older firmware versions. In truth its still solid but its fair to expect firmware updates to, at the very least, not make stuff worse...
Meanwhile the froyo update is going to "free up additional RAM" and be able to format said SD cards. Don't get me wrong I don't expect Android to fix the ridiculous antennae placement or make the cameras flash more useful. Design defects are certainly tolerable and sometimes even expected, but only to a point.
I feel like broadly experienced bugs and specification shortcomings should be fixed ASAP.
I love that Android is going to give us additional, awesome features in future updates. But I don't think we should have to wait for bug fixes while Android packages them as new features in a forthcomimg update, as though they are doing us a favor. Android can take as long as they want to give us new features and I'm grateful for them and I won't complain about the wait.
But I must insist that my phone have the basic functions I purchased within at most a couple of months. We are talking about solving problems not adding features. Shouldn't the priority of the updates reflect that?
I don't know if they've released the changelog or not, but let's hope for several minor upgrades to come with it...
What's the question?

All I want is my ram. I'm very upset over that.

Hj's are cool I guess.
But If you were told the nexus one had 256mb ram and like 600x300 resolution and so on, would you have so excitedly purchased the phone? I sure wouldn't have...
I thnk we should have the basic functions the phone is supposed to have. I know its early but only ram and SD card formatting are mentioned in froyo. Shouldn't the phone have the resolution that it says it has, the ram that it says it has, and the other basic functions that it says it has prior to fun, cool, exciting feature additions? And isn't weird that Google hasnt even mentioned any intention to fix the phone so that it meets its own spec sheet? We aren't talking about demanding flash or decent video playback support or a UI overhaul. We are just talking about features and functions we were told we were buying.
Should we really still be waiting for that? I feel like we shouldn't
But the phone does have 512MB of memory and it does have 800x400 resolution. Crack it open and take a look at the parts yourself.
Sure they might not have complete software support for everything at launch and that can be frustration for some, but as far as I am concerned they put more hardware into the phone than they could use at that point for future proofing reasons. I'm happy about that.
Even after they enable all of the memory it still probably won't be used by anyone.

When I received the phone I was ecstatic. That's before realizing half the ram was disabled.
I wasn't really planning on running official roms anyways, so maybe that differs for me. So I've never really been of the mind of "waiting for google to do their thing". I'm a tweaker by nature, from my phones, to my vehicles, to my shoelaces.
As far as the "false resolution" of the oled displays. Lol, you can't expect new tech to be measured by old standards.

"640K ought to be enough for anybody."
It would be nice if android were proper open source, instead of open source when google feels like it. For example, 'Firefox', as soon as development starts on a new version, it is completely open from the start. Though we are dealing with two different companies, with different objectives. Mozilla wants a free and open internet for the sake of a free and open internet, Google wants a free and open internet because it is good for the bottom line. In the end, both benefit me.

Wait.... I was under the impression that when they say 'extra ram' its freeing up RAM from the OS, not physically?
Is someone saying we have the same amount of RAM as in the desire then? :/ (that f'ed up number, like 560 or something)

thats what i was thinking. why would you buy an HD7 with the intention of putting android onto it, when you could have just bought the Desire HD.
Oh FFS, here we go again

Guys I just brought my HD7 can you send me the link to WP8?*
*sorry had to do that, still wetting myself with laughter at the moment. Putting aside the fact that the phone is just 10 days old and has no way of upgrading it's native OS at this moment in time why would anyone want Android on the HD7? There are already perfectly good phones with the same spec that already have Android as the native OS.
It's a bit like buying a car and expecting it to FLY me to Spain.

That review in your link is a WP7 ad, dumbass. What about lack of multitasking? Lack of copy/paste? A terrible browser? Lack of flash? WP7 is clearly not ready for prime time. Anyone with half a brain would know that Android is much, much better in its current iteration.

What's with the hostility?
I'm a massive android fan, always have been, always will be. I had the G1 when it was first released here in the UK and I've convinced many people to take the jump to Android.
I now have a HD7, I wanted to try something new (yes I've tried iOS before and hate it). Android isn't "much, much better" infact there are a lot of things that WP7 does 1000x better than Android. Ofc there are things missing and there are also things that Android does better but they're pretty equal imo. Infact, Personally I actually prefer Windows Phone 7.
Before you call me a "dumbass" like you did to the previous person, may I point out that you're talking to someone who is currently perusing a Computer Science degree at one of the best Universities in the UK and has had Android for exactly 2 years today.
---------------
Just to add, back to the OP. It's not possible to "install" android atm. It might be in the future though we'll never know.
And for people calling him stupid, it does sort of seem stupid at first glance but think about it this way:
Android = Open Source
WP7 = Closed Source
WP7 will therefore never be on an Android handset.
It may be possible to one day port Android over to WP7 handsets due to it being Open Source.
So theoretically, buying the HD7 over the Desire HD could be getting you a device capable of running 2 OSs, we're just too early in the lifecycle of the OS to even think about porting Android yet.

OK, so copy and past and multi tasking are not there yet, Flash? When did Flash come as part of Android? You can add it after, which again is going to happen to WP7 in the future.
Before slating someone else, maybe at least have half and argument to back it up.
And as for the original OP, it IS a silly question, the OP obviously has some knowledge of multiple operationg systems to be able to ask that question and not as naive as people may think. Some people are so hooked on having the latest and greatest, shiniest shiny thing, that they already want to replace a 10 day old OS!
I never realised the foot-and-mouth syndrome was still out there.

I love that you call someone else a dumbass then put forward these over used and dry arguments. It is so bad when people have to try and pick holes with half hearted points.
First multitasking seems to be a big buz word and on a phone is a lit of hype over nothing. For 90% of smartphone users it adds nothing to the expirience but extream battery drain. All I seemed to do whith my desire is close programs wasting away in the background.
Flash and copy and paste will be here within a very short time a d tbh I am thankfull tha MS has given us wp7 now with the promise then make me wait longer for it to be out, if you can't live without it till the update then just wait for it before buying as you would of dond if they held it back till then anyway
And last the browser that at first glance looks like android wins and tbh it is so much better to use BUT it is a huge memory drain and that linked with multitasking means if you move to a diff app while on the wrong site and when you come to make a call, the thing a phone is for, you will have no power to do so.
Wp7 is not perfect but j feel people see Microsoft and jump on the it must be rubbish bandwagon. Wp7 is a real revolution in phone os and I for one am glad that I sold my desire to get one the benefits far outweigh the small to be fixed holes.
I read somewhere that starting with Android L Google is taking control over the system updates using the play store. I don't remember exactly where I read this but I would like to confirm this information with you guys.
Is that right? Does it mean that after android 5 the fragmentation will end? Or I just misunderstood the info?
I wonder if this being implemented maybe the core of the system would be on a separate partition and the OEM mods on another... Maybe?
Thank you.
Maybe for pure androud, but not for oem skins. Touchwiz, HTC Sense, etc.

Sad, just sad. I'm interested on note 4 but Sammy doesn't give love to updates.
Agree they only update it once,
I suspect that the Note 4 will get the bump to Android L since the release is relatively soon. Hopefully they are working in conjunction with the carriers so that they don't have to wait until Sammy completes their image before beginning their testing. THAT's what takes so long!
Beyond the base of Samsung L, who knows?

I would expect update to Android L in the end of January for Note 4 - judging by how Note 10.1 was updated in the past.
I agree since the Note 3 is still sitting on 4.4.2. They need to keep up and allow the phone to stay fresh.
If you want upgrades, buy a Nexus or a Moto X.
Don't buy a Samsung/HTC and them complain about upgrades. You know what you are buying, Note is not a device which is meant for fast upgrades. It's should be quiet obvious to anyone.
If upgrades are your primary concern, get a Nexus.
Rumor has it the Note 4 and S5 will get Android L "late November or in early December" and that "Samsung may be working towards having updates ready sooner than usual."

Before I broke three HTC Android phones. and I left forever HTC Android phones, now I broke Samsung S5 and no more Samsung Android phones.
Reason is crappy battery
Poor android design.
Poor rooting capability.
Phone didn't last 1 year.
Every time google is bul****ting that with new version we improved performance, battery life. I was with android family since 1.6 and in that period I didn't performance improvement. Always forcing you to buy now and more powerful phone. If update to new version of android so your phone is getting ****ed. So where is performance?
My next phone will Windows 10.
If you broke that many phones, I'd say the problem is not the phones
windows phones are great but they are not made from steel so dont think they will last from a fall like you said :silly:

Is not about steel, its about stability, battery life and multitasking. . I want smart phone, not just phone to make calls. Did you notice that with every big update it takes more and more space, also it eat more memory and CPU. I expected that it will be more polishing and looking a way to improve battery life. We don't need to wait until it comes better battery technology.
Another interesting thing. Why smartwatches last longer than android phone? Why they can't make same on android phones? Watch is 6 times smaller than phone . I think that google are going to wrong way something that I didn't expect. I though that google developers don't follow apple strategy to make OS which consume more and more battery and power to force people to buy new phone because of OS and Security flaw. I buy with two reason every two years: With contain better hardware and improved OS. But always you get improved hardware. So when they will start to think how to improve OS? How many years we need to wait until they will go to right way?

Sagem & htc are my first models not tactiles one's
I discover Samsung by galaxy s1 nowadays

big choice developpements : roms kernels
Recovery & others things
My idea : Windows 10 is very good for pcs
for phones it's debatable btw !
Regards, bro !
I don't understand people talking about broken phones as the subject is Android.
And i have to say, I also start to feel like a fool every time we see new Android updates supposedly improving performance, battery and ram usage.
The reality is that battery does not improve, everything takes more space and ram. All the times Google told us battery improved, we should have phones that last 10 days already...
All the security issues for which there is no quick patch available for everybody highlight another big(ger) flaw of Android.
I also think that Google should take a step back and improve all these points and stop being a accomplice of this "programmed obsolescence" used by all manufacturers to push people to switch to new phones from lack of support after not even 2 years.
We are using phones more and more as computers and payment methods, we do everything with them. Security deserves a more important focus that it currently does, especially for such expensive phones.
Hopefully Windows 10 will improve this, bring some better competition and push Google and manufacturers to take this more seriously...
Samsung is cheap Korean junk. I should have stuck with Sony, more so considering they still provide FM module and are better build quality plus easier to root without knox-type crap. Enterprise won't use rubbish android, only ios.

I agree with your battery point but I think breaking phones is ur fault! Samsung is one of the easiest brand that has phones really easy to root, to find roms and to be kept update through years
If Samsung doesn't follow HTC by shipping phones with dozens pre-installed apps so battery life it would 20% better. I don't use crappy apps what Samsung is offering. I paid £600 for peace of technology but not for crappy apps. So better I will buy phone which is close to stock and allow me to install what exactly need to me and for my work.

I have gotten 2 updates for it so far. One after I turned it on and one yesterday I think just a minor update for security and gesture functionality. Camera is actually not too bad. For some reason tho in my room I'll get these black bars going across the camera but not with the wide angle lens. It doesn't appear outside or anywhere else tho and I don't know what in my room would cause they lol but it shows up in pictures. Outside pictures with good lighting came out really well maybe a lil too much highlight but with some updates it would be cool. I really wanted a 7T for the macro mode on the camera and surprise this one has a super macro mode that actually works pretty well too. I don't know if I can post photos in here or no I don't know how. Don't use this forum often as I was on iPhone life the last 2 years.

Yes,the features of the camera are great on paper but I've seen a lot of comparisons on YouTube and it seems to fall short compared to the Oneplus 7T for example but it can improve with updates and probably will.
I'm encouraged to hear you have gotten two updates already but am disappointed that Realme won't be giving Android 10 until q2 next year, that's quite late and they don't state anywhere their policy on the life of support which you would hope would be at least 2 years.
Macro mode looks awesome and the zoom, have you tried that ?
I might actually email Realme and ask them about software because in fairness they did email me back the last time I asked them about shipping and stuff,
I might buy this if the support will last 2 to 3 years but will need to lol at some other reviews

Yeah I'm not thrilled about Android 10 coming so late. I didn't even know there was an app so this makes everything way easier lol. Hopefully some nice custom ROMs will come out similar to oxygenOS. The OS is very fluid but still have something in Chinese and no Google assistant as built in assistant which I was really looking forward to. I'm attaching pictures I just went outside to take to show you 1x,2x,5x, and wide angle (or not keeps saying bad request?)

I think you should probably wait for the global rom to sort out your issues with the google, yes some custom ROMs would also be nice.
Maybe you can only upload small pictures here I don't know

How hard is it to flash another rom? I don't do that stuff often. I tried when I was younger on an no old Android and wiped it clean lol.

I'm not too keen on it myself, did a bit when I was younger but there are plenty of tutorials out there and XDA is quite useful of you have any questions.
Right now I'm just at the point where I need the phone to work and I need the manufacturer to support the OS of my device,
Currently have a Oneplus 6T and it's great for software, just got stable A10 yesterday morning on 1 year old device. If I was you I might start thinking of trading in your Realme for a OnePlus 7T or 7T pro.
The X2 pro is great on paper but I'm not sure about the software at all. Will be interesting to see some more reviews for the device especially as it comes out in the EU next week
I just switched to it today from my X. Will see how it does this week as a daily. Runs fornite mobile with a controller really well and COD mobile looks even better so smooth it's insane with highest graphics.

Hey Dude, cheers for the samples, they look good but I'm no expert.
Have looked at a lot of comparisons on YouTube and when they compare the camera on the x2 pro to that of a flagship like the p30 pro or iPhone 11 they generally say the x2 pro suffers in some areas.
I would say your photos look good but not amazing, maybe they aren't that sharp or the color is a bit off, maybe a bit noisy in areas, again no expert.
But how's the rest of the phone going,is the ColorOS any good,is it annoying,
How are the features etc ?
Still haven't pre ordered mine and not sure yet if I will

Pictures aren't bad especially in good lighting. Idk if photos get compressed when uploaded so that could be another reason. ColorOS is okay it's like a iOS kinda vibe but very well Android. It's usable but you can't change launchers or set default apps. Some stuff on the phone is still in Chinese. No Google assistant you have breeno instead which isn't usable because all Chinese. They have their own iCloud type deal on the phone too which doesn't work well cause again Chinese. Battery life tho is really good so far one of the best phones I've had with battery life and the charging is unreal how fast it is. I also pull faster data speeds on my iPhone X than this phone. WiFi is fast but my T-Mobile data is half as fast or less than that compared to the same service on the iPhone . If they could get oxygenOS on this thing it would be a beast.

Thanks for the detailed insight,I do think most of these google related problems will not exist on the global EU version, there will be no Chinese on that and you should be able to set the default launcher, OxygenOS would probably be amazing on this phone,it all depends on the dev community, though things do seem fairly quiet so far for this phone on XDA,I'm sure it will gain some type of dev following

Even if no one makes custom roms for this phone would I still be able to flash the global ROM when it becomes available?

That I do not know for sure with Realme but I don't think you will have a problem,The hardware is the same so I would hope you could easily flash the global rom.
Keep an eye on the forums here for advice and maybe read elsewhere like reddit.
Oppo are launching Color OS 7 with Android 10 next week and Realme are launching this phone in India the same day. Seems unlikely to me that they'd hurt sales by not getting this OS to this phone a lot sooner than Q2 next year.

Regarding Android 10, the twitter account for Realme Spain confirmed that it will release on Q1 2020 for every Realme in Europe. So it's a bit earlier than expected.
