Well, kind of 3 months ago I discovered that my lyrics app (Lyrics Grabber) didn't find my music anymore, and magically it did find other audio files (Recordings, Ringtones, Attachments from Any.do, Whatsapp Audios). So I noticed that the "Music" folder is being ignored by the app; all other folders are found. And it's exactly the same with musixmatch, shuttle, nexmusic and google play music. So I assume that it happens to all the music players but... poweramp. It's pretty weird but it's so. The only music player that finds my music is poweramp. It may be because poweramp has an option to manually choose which folder are gonna be scanned but I don't know what's going on with it. Any ideas?
Note: I'm 16, and I'm learning to speak English by myself, so if I made a mistake or you didn't get what I'm trying to say, plz tell me and I'll try to explain it better

Has anyone else noticed that with either Windows Media Player or the HTC Audio Manager, it will always use the same shuffle order? Doesn't this defeat the purpose? Anyone know how to get it to "reshuffle" with every play. I am getting tired of hearing my play lists in the same order everytime.

Amen, thought I was the only one who noticed this!
Yes, surprising isn't it. Even a using a search on all forums didn't turn up this same question. I think this is true for Wondows Media Player on all devices, or at least the one's I have owned. Would be nice is HTC could provide a shuffle option that actually shuffles with the Audio Manager. Perhaps they should call it "Reorder" instead of "Shuffle".
Just searched and this is the only thread I could find on this problem.
My media player doesn't actually play the library in folder order, but seems to shuffling only a few songs on the list.
Is playing them from the library the only option? - you can play only one song at a time when accessing the music folder with windows explorer.
to "reshuffle" have you tried turning off shuffle, selecting another track, playing it, then turn shuffle back on.
Thanks for the suggestion - yes I've tried that, but it just seems so hit and miss with the Windows media player and the shuffle play seems to repeat a few tracks too often.
I've now installed MortPlayer and it's working great, so I'm not going to bother with the WM player now.
Thanks.

Yes, this is my half baked solution. I just scroll down and start a few songs later in the list as it is sorted via the playlist. It still does not "shuffle" though, just puts me at a different point in the (properly termed...) reordered playlist. If it's a short playlist though, you will figure out pretty quickly that the songs go in the same order every time, you just started at a different point.
In computing, the random doesn't exist, we can only approach it by simulating.
You won't never get a "real" shuffle. When you select this mode in WMP or HTC audio manager, it follows an algorithm, that's why you always hear songs in the same order with the same playlist. The best way is to change your playlist.
I hope this explanation is helpful and clear, and if somebody can give us more details on the subject, don't hesitate (I like learning more and more )

I hear what you saying regarding computers not being good at random, but I can tell you that this MortPlayer is doing a damn fine job of it.
I think that these workarounds with the playlist are a poor reflection on WM media player - I have about 1.5G in my music folder and MortPlayer can shuffle the lot without the need to first create a playlist.
I didn't say that you need to create a playlist. On the contrary, more the numbers of songs is high, more the order in which you will hear its is changing, because the probability of finding the song "m" on a sample "M" diminishes when you increase "M" ( "M " can be a playlist or 1.5 GB of songs)
Hi all,
got something that's driving me crazy, i can sync my music with windows media player fine and the music copies across as it should however when i come to play the music with touchflo 3d it only shows the first lot of music i put on.
I cannot seem to figure out how to refresh the libray on touchflo 3d...
does anyone have the answer for me?
thanks
If you tap 'Library', then slide accross to Albums... do your recently synced items show up there?
I am having this problem too
I cannot see any of my music in TF3D music player
no nothing is showing up i resynced all my music with media player and still nothing shows, it nows says no music found.
there must be a better way to sort the library.
there shouldnt be this hassle just to put music on the phone!
I think you require too much for a phone so cheap.
Try the advantage,or wait for HD.

i want your job if you consider this to be (a phone so cheap)
you get paid too much.
on the plus side to the normally challenged people out there , you have to update the library in windows media player, then go into library on touchflo 3D, select all songs and play the first track it then updates all the tracks for you.

thannks man, this has been driving me crazy - talk about a flaw in the system!
Will
Delete Application Data/HTC/AudioManager/AudioManager_Eng.vol and do soft reset.
this will rescann your complete library.
i got the same problem and this helped
I still cannot get it to work - all my music syncs of from media player and I can play it on media player on the diamond but on TF3D it just hangs on Searching!!!
If i delete all my media and load 1 song it works fine if I do the above deleting of the HTC application folder but if I then try to add some more it does not work!!
Has anyone got this working? or is it just me?????

prob just you lol, works for me try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397819&highlight=tf3d+music+albums
just add the music to internal storage yourself? :S works fine for me
nope didn't work...must be just me!!
I have moved to S2P but its a shame i wanted to use the built in stuff
I had the same problems too. Until I read and followed the instructions for adding songs and album art and updating the library on TF3D.
Now for the enchilada!! Does anyone know how you can update windows media's library (once you have added more songs to the Diamond from PC) and set it to search in a particular folder instead of adding all the media files on the phone(tomtom files, alert & warning sounds and the like) to your music library. Only solution thus far more is to delete these files every time i update, which is now getting a bit tiring .
Any help or suggestions welcomed.
I use my phone as a mp3 player alot but the software that came with android is very limited and does not give you enought options to use our phone as a fully funcional mp3 player. Like for example creating playlist, search songs by name or artist with the keyboard. etc.
I hope some developer is working on a better player...
You can do all of that you mentioned already. To add to a playlist long-press on a song and choose add to playlist and you can make a new one or add to an existing one. To search just slide out the keyboard and type it will return all results for artist, song, album, everything. Hope this helps

thanks you right about everything. I just found something else I have every album in separate folders let say I would like to select just one folder to play that album only, is there any way to do that, because as far as I see the player looks for all the music files in the sd card and display them in the library together.
thanks
I don't think you can organize by folder but maybe try clicking album on the home page of the MP3 app? That will read all the ID3 tags of the MP3's and sort them by album to play. Unfortunately what sucks for me is a lot of my music files are .m4a from my iPhone which the G1 can play but I don't have album art or tags or anything and it blows because you can't add tags to them and I don't have the time to convert them to mp3. Oh well, hope this helps you!
i think we will see a lot more once paid apps come- coreplayer are working on an android version for one.
I just figure another issue, I create a folder with ringtones .mp3s and the player put them on the play list to This is crazy it should at least ask you if u want to add the new audio files to the play list. now I have 10sec ringtones playing on my playlist
I'll pay for a player with all the features that an audio player should have.
What folder are you putting your ringtones in?
I have my ringtones in a folder named 'ringtones', my notifications in a folder called 'notifications' and the media player doesn't pick any of them up.
One thing for sure, Shuffle blows for some odd reason. It's always the same damn order! The only way to get something different is to Shuffle -> Party Shuffle. This needs to be fixed.
Also, it would be nice if they added the fast search (like in contacts, dragging letters on the right) to the song list, as well as speed it up quite a bit.
I'm not impressed with the MP3 player. I'm hoping someone is working on one that is a little bit more iPhonish, as I like the looks/usability of that. S2P for WindowsMobile nailed it.
Is there something wrong with tunewiki? maybe that is more to your liking?
I like the double click headset to change tracks, single click to pause/resume. Although i'm not sure if this functionality would exist with A2DP? It could do with a few more features i'll admit, but it looks fine to me.

Samsung Galaxy 4.0 Android MP3 Player.
Samsung calls this an MP3 player, but it is really a great Android phone -- without the phone. The form factor is great for carrying around. I find I'm using it much more than my iPad to access email, listen to podcasts, watch videos, and more. The Gingerbread Android OS is snappy and easy to use. With Skype and Wifi, you get voice/video connectivity.
Samsung Galaxy Player 50
Agreed. The stock app never allows me to view my playlist like the iPod does.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA
Check out MKZIplayer.
Great for video and music
If you use a custom rom you can download "PlayerPro". Best MP3 Player.
(Or try "Apollo", its included in Cyanogenmod from FreeXperia)
Is there any Developer working in a new audio player, with a lot of new features including just play songs from the folder you select.
I use my g1 on my car alot and the stock audio players sucks!
for example I can't play songs from a specific folder, the player takes all the songs from the g1 sdcard. the shuffle option don't work right I have about 1500 songs and it playes the sames songs when on shuffle etc.
I'm desperate for a new audio players with good features, specific to use the g1 as a real mp3 player, and for car mp3 play use.
TuneWiki perhaps?
^^^ I hate tune wiki. It never displays the right album artwork.
Hey there! Not trying to hijack your thread, but I got a quick question...I noticed that you said you use your G1 in the car. I have Ford Sync and I have heard the music/navigation broadcast over the speakers, but only when I was actually on a call. How are you connecting? Bluetooth doesn't work and I've also tried using the usb cable.
I also second your "request" for a new music player. The G1 is lacking in the music/video department. My boyfried has an iPhone and I just can't argue when it comes to the media part of the phone...my only argument is having to use iTunes.
Perrosky, have you tried aPlayer?
I'll agree with you on those points. I have a lot of poorly-tagged music and just being able to browse by folder/file would be helpful. Shuffling a folder would be nice as well.
I ended up creating a ton of playlists to accomplish this with the current players. Tunewiki is a step up from the bundled player, but it is still quite lacking.
Some other features I'd like to see:
1. Audio controls like EQ, Balance, etc.
2. Bookmarking. If I'm 15 minutes into a 30 minute audiobook track I'd really prefer to not have to remember where I left off when I start listening again.
I'm sure it is only a matter of time before somebody ports an open source audio player to Android. If they can do it for Rockbox, they can do it for android...

Funny it does for me. Best player out there right now. Coreplayer should be coming out with one soon for android.

AMEN! I Have been searching for a media player that could do that.
That is the ONLY thing I miss about my windows mobile phone is the windows media player!
I hope coreplayer can do this. Almost 80% of my songs are poorly tagged (ID3) and being able to play an entire folder would be perfect!
I've used search... on this forum and several others...
The native music app, and what seems like the vast majority of free 3rd party music apps, are missing what is to me, a vital function of any music player software... browse/play by genre.
I love the simplicity of the default app, and if the default app had this feature, it would be perfect for me.
Anybody have any suggestions for music apps that browse/play by genre?
Don't think of the music players will do this, but you can create playlists by genre and play those.

Grrrrr... For me, genre sorting is actually more important than album or artist sorting, but thanks for the help
That news is disappointing. Since I randomize which 8 gb of my 40 gb collection gets sent to my phone every few days, static playlists aren't really viable for me. Maybe if there were smart playlists?
ooooooh... just watched that video of the experimental H-port of the Hero build. I spied Genre sorting! Guess I'll just have to wait and hope

if you want to organize them by genre just put them in files named hip hop or country or metal rock whatever. then go get the free app. "mediabypath" then open it and it will show your music files or whatever.
go to the file with the genre you want and dont click it press and hold on it (so if you have a hip hop folder dont go in it just press and hold)(make sure you dont have anything in the current playlist) and itle say "queue all next" click on that.
while its playing go to the music player , click on the top right hand icon that has a list icon ,hit menu, then save as playlist, name it whatever genre.
That will organize your playlist for you by genre. and repeat the process but make sure the playlist is cleared before doing the next genre
i hope that helps. i was one that hated having to sort through all my music to hear one song. and i hated the fact that it would play my ringtones with my music and it would shuffle them by the name instead of by folders.
Genre sorting is vital for me too and I do it with MediaByPath. I organise the music on the SD card in Genre folders (drum'n'bass, ska, trance, etc) and put the artists and albums in fub folders if needed. The app loads the entire content of chosen folder (unfortunately not the content of subfolders, which must be added manually).
Right on, thanks again for all the help everybody.
Unfortunately, I can't organize into genre folders either since the entire contents of the music on my phone (8gb) changes randomly every few days... Well, I suppose I could, but it seems unlikely that I would take the time needed multiple times a week.
I use a program on my desktop that randomly chooses a selection of my music library and copies those files to my phone. It is also set to never select a song that was used during the previous selection process. So I literally never have any song more than 2 or 3 days in a row, and I never know what songs are going to be chosen.
Seriously though, the members of this forum have been extraordinarily helpful since I stumbled across it a couple weeks ago. I really appreciate the effort.

wow yeah in that case you might have to wait for the HERO build then i organize my stuff myself in folders but i can understand how time consuming it would be to organize when you get the music randomly. but yeah sorry bro either way mediabypath is still pretty nice if you were to ever get the time to organize your music glad we could "attempt" to help
