Keyboard/Dictionary - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway we can add words to the dictionary on the stock texting app? I've been looking but there is no way. I know it was possible on the Note 2 and 3.

Swype keyboard is what you need. Can set what words and combo words or whatever you want too add to it.

[Q] Word spelling/own words

Hi.
When typing (i'm mostly using the keypad keyboard, (to large hands ) whenever i see that there is an word not in the dictionary, i would like to add it, and in the same time correct whatever the phone allready has suggested..
Here's the thing... i can not find an easy way to do it... now i have to mark the word and press/hold to get the menu to add it to the dictionary.. this alone is a bit enoying, but if its a completely different word, and i correct it in the popup box, when i hit ok, it does not insert the word i just corrected, but leaves the word i originaly typed... so then i have to delete the word, and type again... this seems a bit unnessesary..
Anyone know of a better way?
Stock rom, stock LG keypad/keyboard
+1, i'd love to have the ability to import, say, text files and let the dictionary picks it up from that.

[APP] 9-Keyboard -- Nokia-style typing

Hey guys,
I found an app which allows you to type text messages like on an old Nokia cellphone (except T9).
You can download it for free and without any ads from the marketplace: http://windowsphone.com/s?appid=a01a764e-265d-418b-b7e6-802936a692e0
The app is just great. It would be awesome if you could make something to introduce it in the system of the phone, so when you want to write an email or type an web adress you can change from full qwerty to this 1-9
Great job
So happy of hearing that someone still cares about alphanumeric keyboard, I was desperate because I couldn't find any alternative to QWERTY. If you'll be able to include T9 I think that your app would be perfect to text sms quickly with one hand
however I wanted to suggest something like that:
I've noticed that in settings(system)/keyboard, are already available 12-key (alphanumeric) keyboards for some languages (chinese, japanese, korean). I was wondering if it was possible to modify them in a simple way to obtain a full-system integrated keypad with T9 too =)
Btw. In your app, you cannot write numbers 2 and 0.
Nice
Just tried and rated it - nice little app, it's easy to get nostalgic using it
I can confirm the little bug about entering 0 and 2 of the previous poster, doesn't work right now.
Why not add an icon/function to paste the text to the clipboard? It's easy to do in the program, just 1 line of code, and like this one can also use the written text for e-mail, Twitter apps etc.
By the way, you gave the link to the US Marketplace. The app is probably available world wide; if you give the "deep link" as indicated in the details about the app on create.msdn.com the link will lead people directly to their particular, possibly non-US marketplace.

[Q] A Perm Swype Prediction Bar?

Does anyone know how to make the Swype keyboard prediction bar a persistent/permanent item?
At the moment is likes to vanish when I've finished a word, which means it then needs to adjust how much screen space the app takes up.
This is quite frustrating because for instance it means the Google talk app "send" button moves down the screen a bit.
It makes me rage every day, drives me nuts.
Is there some way to force it to stay there all the time?
I'm on the Stock ICS with root.
****Solved, upgraded from German ROM to Singtel ROM.
I would love for it to remain persistent as well, even empty.
that is exactly what I want. :-/
thts annoying :X
th text box keeps moving up n down :X like a staircase

Ok since You are a Note User, I will give you some alternative options to use with. These were the ones which I tried to use when I was in STOCK ICS with root.
1. Swype (which ofcourse you are using)
2. SwiftKey
3. SlideIT
4. Better Keyboard
Non keyboard Input Options:
1. Voice Actions
2. WritePad
So far I chose WritePad but after I ended up in LPF Based ROM, my built-in keyboard is good enough for me
If any of my posts help you, please press THANKS. The Best part is "Its free!". Peace xD
I'm confused by your reply.
None of it seems to address the option of locking the predictive bar in place at all times the swype keyboard is up.
I have bought and tried SlideIT and Swiftkey and neither keyboards are as good / Accurate as Swype in my view. (no idea if they have a locked in predictive bar)
lol
On a whim I upgraded the ROM from the German one to the Singtel one and now it does exactly what i want!

Easy way to add new words to keyboard??

I speak a different language, not supported by any keyboard. Using google keyboard on my Galaxy S5, the new word would show in the suggestions as i was typing it, and I could click on it to add it to the library.
But now on the N6, I have to go through a long process that takes 3-4 steps just to add one word.
Any easy way to add words while I am typing?
Also, any way to save my added words library, or save the words through google? So in the future, I can just add the library of words in case I change devices, or wipe data, etc.

Samsung Keyboard predictive text

Is there any way to get the predictive text to suggest punctuation like the keyboard did no my old S5? Also how do I tell the keyboard to let me type "shop" without forcing the text to be "pshop"?
Additionally, I see no way to edit the personal library of words or to clear all the learned words since maybe it learned a miss type or 2.
