To be honest, I am scared of Verizons evil deeds, but I can see Google putting up a fight for too much carrier customization. At worst, maybe sim locked and a Verizon logo. Same thing as ATT did, but that's why u get the unlocked version from the Play store, Motorola, Sprint, or T-Mobile.

No. If the bootloader couldn't easily be unlocked, it wouldn't be a Nexus. It would be a Droid Turdo.

VZW doesn't SIM lock devices anymore.
They will, however, encrypt bootloaders.
Not a snowball's chance in hell that the bootloader will be locked.

It's hopeless
Mark MY words and come back to it and if I'm wrong I will donate to charity. The Nexus 6 will NOT be coming to Verizon. They will release a very very similar phone all marked up with Verizon labels with some type of "Droid" branding called the super duper turbo that will indeed have a locked bootloader and all sorts of bloat ware crap strung throughout the Motorola skinned app drawer... sorry I'm just a bitter Verizon customer stuck in a harsh reality!
If you can afford it, buy from google or Motorola. Slap in a nano Sim card from Verizon. It works. Got my nexus Thursday and swapped the Sim out of my moto x. Been using it since. Sold my moto x along with my note 3. Downloaded youmail and unsubscribed from Verizon visual voicemail.
I don't see why it would be locked. The Galaxy Nexus wasn't. I'm so glad my Galaxy Nexus SIM card works on the nsix. Lol with a serious trimming down...

I got my N6 directly from Moto and popped in my VZW sim without a hitch.
I'll say this... I used my OnePlus on TMobile for 6 months and their network is TRASH in comparison. This was after a summer of traveling around the U.S., traveling for work, and a few driving getaways. If TMo works in your neighborhood and you never leave it, then more power to you. If not, I'm here to tell you, VZW may be a-holes when it comes to devices but their network is no joke. Don't suffer from "the grass-is-greener" syndrome.

Motorola has listened to the voice of it's consumers!
They stated they were going to implement lockable/unlockable bootloaders into their phones. Basically the same technology that's in the Xoom.
That could be one of the reasons the Bionic has been delayed til this Summer. If that's what it is, then the Bionic will be the "IT" phone for Verizon. That's going to set the benchmark pretty high. Motorola won't be on my **** list anymore lol

Honestly I couldn't care less if its locked or not. I agree, lock the thing it makes carriers feel good about themselves. Just don't encrypt it or make it so it can't be unlocked.

I know Sprint doesn't care because I turned my EVO 4G for a 150 dollar credit towards the EVO 3D and my phone was rooted, custom ROM installed and custom kernel and they said nothing.. I rooted and installed a custom ROM on a Droid X for a friend and they returned it because they didn't like it and Verizon would not take it. Sprint is cool with their customers doing what they want with their phones, I have no idea how t-mobile feels...

Meeehh... I just traded in my Charge rooted, and everything. Custom ROM, custom kernel. Not even a peep. Hell, the dude who took the phone had his Charge in his hand when he took it.
Verizon took my first Incredible with a cracked screen, and bricked with no insurance. Only thing they asked was "Do you have a phone you can switch to in the process? No? We'll overnight your new one. Have a good day."
It just depends on who takes it, and their mood.

I'm really getting tired of waiting... I saw Sprint and US Cellular have been added to the list of unlock codes posted by Motorola, no word on Verizon that I've heard. I did hear Dev Editions are about 2 weeks out, but I haven't seen that confirmed. I don't really care about picking my own color, it'd be nice but... I don't mind the color scheme of the Dev Edition or just getting friggin' a black one. I just would like Verizon to say when Dev Editions will be available or Motorola or Verizon to say if the codes will be coming out ever. I really want to get one the beginning of this week but don't know which way to go myself...

Yeah that is true. I don't quite understand the difference of offering me a code or selling me a dev edition but I rarely understand them. If anything they'd have a bit of proof of me voiding my warranty. I'll keep my cracked G nexus for a bit longer I suppose, see what time tells.

Yeah. I know if I get the Dev edition I'd have to go through moto which I rather do cause I rather moto profit from my $600 something than VZW. But I think I'm more leaning towards moto maker when it hits VZW and the only reason I'm okay with this is because I think I could live with the moto x without being a crack flasher.
Looks like Dev edition only available in black or white oof contract from moto. T-Mobile is now and only available direct also

I'm holding out on getting the developer edition although I'm getting a little impatient since not much has been announced. I've been spoiled by my G-nex's unlockable bootloader
I own the black moto x on verizon and im in love with the phone. Ill most likely sell this phone on swappa and pay a few extra bucks and get the DEV edition when its out. I feel like a solid black or white phone would be easier to resell.

Hence me saying about it being a Nexus and them not being locked down.. However, with carriers you never ever know.
It's been said by quite a few on here that Verizon N6 can't have a locked bootloader... And that would go against everything Nexus stands for, but Verizon's stance on bootloaders is a pretty serious one that they don't bend on.
I would most likely get the N6 once I hop on here and read that it's 110% unlocked.
What do you guys think?
It won't have a locked bootloader regardless of carry for two reasons. 1. The law passed on Aug or September 1st that carries have to unlock phones to be used on any carrier if the consumer has fulfilled their contractual obligations. Before you say unlocked and bootloaders are two different things, here me out. 2. There's only 1 model of the Nexus 6 and it supports all US carriers and radios, if Verizon attempts to lock the bootloader, you can purchase a t-mobile version with an unlocked bootloader, and by law Verizon has to allow you to use it on their network.

Well said my friend and I agree with you totally. I suppose I'm just accustom to Verizon being such a pain that in the very back of my mind I can see something like a warehouse full of Verizon employees just ripping open N6 boxes.... Quickly locking the bootloader, then shipping them off!!
But since there are only the 2 models, clearly what you stated can be done.

NO they do not. They don't have to import the IMEI if they choose not to. There is nothing in the law that requires carriers to accept devices on their network if they don't want it regardless if it's unlocked or not. There's a difference.
All u.s nexus 6 will be the same and have all the u.s radios included in the phones which cuts down cost for google hence save money versus making each carrier a different version. Also i hope there completely easy to switch from one carrier to the other and if so i see a trend starting.

If thats true that there is one model for all carriers, then how will OTAs be managed and pushed? Also, T-mobile announced the Wifi Calling will be pushed to Nexus in the near future! Does that mean all devices on the other carriers will receive this update??
Something is not adding up. I think there will be different device models for each carrier. For example, Nexus US-Model#-A (att) ; Nexus US-Model#-T(tmo)..... and there will also be Nexus-Global model.
My 2 cents.

I hope they do come soon. I need a new Nano SIM for mine.
I'm going to love when they finally get it. As long as Verizon doesn't pull the same **** the did with the m8, and try to lock the boot loader, idc what kind of bloat it has as I'll immediately be putting a custom ROM on it. And as long as they don't brand it with that ugly vzw logo.

Nope, works perfectly fine. Have to jump through a few hoops to get the SIM working (VZW doesn't recognize the Nexus 6 IMEI as compatible) but after that it's great. In the beginning certain ROMs weren't working natively with Verizon, then a simple text edit fixed it, and now I think it's fixed out of the box for all custom ROMs.
I have a google play store N6 running perfectly on Verizon. Had to cut down my micro sim card to nano, popped it in, unlocked bootloader and on custom ROM number 3 so far. No data issues or any operational issues at this point.

Yup, it was that easy. I read a ton before I made my decision. I bought the Aerb sim cutter from amazon, unboxed my GPS N6, cut my micro sim and had to sandpaper it a little bit to fit, popped it in, 5-10 minutes later I was up and running with zero issues. Happy customer, love this device!
A problem people have had is the IMEI of a device not purchased from Google, Motorola or Verizon will not be in Verizon's database if you have to activate a new SIM card. An already activated SIM will work.
Which device?
A Sprint employee told me to get the Tmobile Nexus since Sprint customers were having pretty bad issues with the nexus 6 on the sprint network. Does carrier specific Nexus 6's have better or worse service on the VZW network? I thought all the phones were the same more or less with the same hardware.
