OK, i'll expand on this: Can I use the TMO Test Froyo method for installing a ROM? Any other non root way to restore market links?
Most of your answers can be found via the search function.
Tried and failed, anyone else?

You can flash test froyo without rooting
could you use that idea to flash anything w/o Root?

No, generally speaking, you can only flash OTA updates without root. No custom ROM's or radios or themes...

you need to upgrade to gingerbread first, so use guide in My Android Solutions to solve USB connection problems first than use KIES to upgrade to gingerbread
Hi.
I am a bit stuck with something on my HTC and I thought I would try to get some answers here as people seem very knowledgeable!
I recently rooted my HTC One and everything was going well. Yesterday a message came through to my phone that there is an update available so i downloaded and tried to install. Unfortunately it will not unstall on my phone - it just goes into the mod recovery screen. Is there a way of installing the file via the custom mod recovery screen or am i missing something?
Thanks if anyone can offer any advice!

You need stock recovery to install official updates
I advise flash a custom rom, because is better then a rom stock with root!
And you can personalize it with mod and other, a lot of mod will not work

I don't think you can install a factory update via custom recovery. I might be wrong though. Someone smarter than me will surely chime in if I'm wrong.

If you're already on 4.2.2 I HIGHLY doubt you need it. IF it's a firmware update, then it might include things like a new screen touchpad update (which I don't recommend installing because it could possibly break your custom recovery) and a new radio file and irl. The most important part of that is the radio update and I wouldn't even really call it "important". More like USEFUL then anything else. So what you can do and what I recommend you do is: don't worry about your failed update. Find the latest radio.zip (flashable through custom recovery) file and install it. Let me know if you need help!

In order to receive and install an OTA update you need to have stock recovery... you have a custom recovery (CWM) which is why the update fails.
You have 3 options..... search, find and flash the stock recovery for your device, flash a custom rom based on 2.24.401.8 or stay as you are.
For radios this link is a list of all the radios released for the One, each can be flashed through CWM recovery.

That's right! I forgot about the OTA and custom recovery thing. Good thing you were around or the poor guy would have gotten wrong info from me lol. Thanks!
I can't seem to find a fix for this, and I can't back up before I flash my first custom ROM.
Has anyone got any ideas which could help?
Thanks in advanced,
