Can anyone suggest a dock (like you get for iphones) that works well with this phone. It would need a 3.5mm jack or bt and charging capabilities and good speakers, for loud indoor use. I use a bt sterio in my car.

Well this isn't a perfect solution and since I am waiting for mine to arrive in the post today, it isn't tested but should work in theory.
Sonos S5 Media Player
LG Multimedia Stand
Samba App for Android
Sonos Controller App
As long as both the Media player and the phone are connected to the same network, the player should be able to see the Samba share on the phone and play the music stored on it. You can control what gets played using the Sonos app on your phone.
If the media player is not on the same network as the phone, then you can connect the phone direct using a 3.5mm male/male cable.
my friend has one of these on loan, he controlls it via his iphone and WM HD2. problem is its expensive

the lg multimedia stand is it just a charge stand? without any special function?
Correct, the stand is just a stand. As the phone really needs to be on charge, I just thought it looked better that way.
The setup works really well, the player connects to the phone without any trouble and the sound quality is excellent. It was expensive, but if you like your music it is worth it.
BT sounds great in my car.... think what i need is a BT capable, mini/hifisystem thing... nit much cheap there also. Is there a BT connector you can add to an aux in. would rather do this than via FM transmitter
I use a BT device on my hi-fi system and I just have to connect the phone to it and start playing the music (works with all the phone I have tested so far: iPhone 3GS, HTC Magic, Google Nexus One and SE X10).
The device uses RCA cables to transmit the sound to the hi-fi system and it works great !
What's it called

Here is the device I use but you can find other models. Some of them are able to remote control your phone (next/previous music, play/pause).

I use an FM tranmitter. I made this usb only dock from an ipod/iphone dock from poundland.

And then attatch my fm transmitter (that I got from hong kong) which works for about 0.5 of a mile (but eats batteries, luckily it take 1 AA and last for about 4-5 hours on 1 rechargable) and then tune what ever radio I want to the transmitter. I can even listen to it in the shower with a cheap battery radio thats water proof.
Is it possible to stream music from my phone to my tab over bluetooth? I have no problem getting the two to pair but can see no way to accomplish streaming music to the tab.
I was just thinking this morning how I would like to Bluetooth phone audio to my tab... I imagine if there is an app to let the tab make the other device believe it is a headset all phone audio would patch through.... Google here I come!!!!

Let me know if you get anywhere. What I'm trying to do may seem a little weird. For whatever reason I can't get MOG to work on my tablet but it works great on my EVO. I use my Galaxy Tab as a head unit in my truck. Mog streams at 320kbps so it sounds very good if I can get it going.
Morning.
I am having a problem with my note 4 edge and my car stereo. Here is a little background.
I have a 2012 Subaru STi with the stock stereo and Bluetooth capability. When I had a note 2 there were *zero* issues with the device automatically connecting when I got into the car and resuming where I left off.
When I traded my phone for the note 3, I lost the auto paring feature and had to go to my stereo every time I turned the car on and select my device. ( I did lots of trouble shooting here... stock, rooted, un rooted, different ROMs) and no mater what, I could not auto pair. Additionally, there were often times where in order to play a call through the stereo I had to go to the phone, select Bluetooth settings, select pair voice with car.
Soo it is time to get a note 4. I figure it cannot be any worse than going from a note 2 to the note 3. Boy was I wrong!
The note 4 does not auto connect either.
I use spotify for streaming the music and have the files downloaded locally to the phone. Without rhyme or reason, the music will simply stop playing and my car will show "BT-A (blue tooth audio) Paused as if I hit the pause button on spotify. When I look at the phone, the song is still playing without issue and is not paused as far as spotify is concerned. I then have to hit the back or next track song to resume playing music.
it is very random.. for example, 5-10 seconds into a song it stopped and did this about 10 times. The drive home yesterday would let me get about halfway through a song before this, and the day prior would always freeze a the end of a song.
I have reinstalled spotify, factory reset the phone without any luck.
I know the next step for trouble shooting is to start trying different media sources and comparing (holidays/work have made that hard).
has anyone had issues with their note 4 and their car stereo? I will likely just be buying a new stereo because this is starting to be frustrating.
You need new radio that supports bluetooth 4.0

Was there a change from functionality from the note 3 to note 4 regarding Bluetooth? If the autopairing is the issue, I understand that. However, once connected, I cannot figure out why it hiccups and stops.

Interesting. Man this was unexpected! Thank you very much for your info. I guess I figured this was not a Bluetooth generation issue since it still pairs when I manually do it.

so many changes it not worth buying a head unit cause you still gonna need to modify the phone with the new files as long as it does not need new hardware. if your note 3 worked maybe see if a dev is willing to downgrade ur bluetooth or teach ya what you need to move around.

Well I think a new head unit is in the future regardless, the STi is fast but lackluster with comfort features such as sound. Would it be safe to assume that any mid-top shelf head unit would be compatible? I have looked at a few, they do not seem to state a Bluetooth version with them.
I may just go toy around with some at the store and decide from that.

If you go to let's say pioneer site it has a place for compatibale devices. The note 4 is not yet but in future it might be. You can email them and ask if they will make it compatible in time. But it still not 100%

Have you tried using your phone with another bluetooth device example a bluetooth speaker etc?...The reason I ask is I have hands free bluetooth with my 2014 Nissan Titan, it worked fine with Note 3 I had previously, connected with no issues but when I received the Note 4 for some reason it would disconnect from bluetooth. I than decided to pair my wireless bluetooth speaker I use to listen music from my phone and it didn't work. So I had to get a replacement Note 4 as bluetooth was the issue on the Note 4 as it didn't work, so you might have the same issue.
Damn... i think you are right. Does the new note 4 work fine with your car? I jus thooked this up to my A33 bluetooth speaker and it does the same thing... cuts in and out, plays weird and not right. I already paid 25$ for the screen protector to be applied... im going to be pissed i have to return it.
Did you get a new device or refurb?

To throw another variable in the mix...
I have no issue with streaming Bluetooth Netflix to my Beats headphones... with spotify messing up with my car and blue tooth speaker, perhaps it is a spotify issue.
I will get another streaming app to test out.
How could it work with my headphones without issue, but not with other devices and result in a hardware problem for the phone? This is now making me think it is more likely an issue with spotify

And another thought!

Shows some interesting ways to mess with my car's stock head unit. One of the comments mentions there are two ways to pair a Bluetooth device and only 1 is meant for the owner which includes auto connect. I am going to see if that is my issue and post back!
Hi All,
I have an AT&T Nexus 6 and I am trying to stream USB audio out to my car stereo. When doing so I am hearing clicking and popping in the audio. I thought it was possibly a ROM/kernel issue but I am fully back to stock & locked and the problem still exists. Audio via mini stereo jack (aux) works fine of course, as does sound coming out of the phone's speakers, headphones, etc. I have tested 2 other android devices (Nexus 4 and Samsung Nexus 10) and USB audio is working perfectly fine in my car.
If anyone has any guidance on how to troubleshoot this it would be great. This is strange to me as USB audio out was added as a software update, so I find it very odd that it works on my older devices and but not the N6. If I can't get this figured out I will have to schedule an appointment at an AT&T warranty center to likely exchange my 35-day-old phone for a fecking refurb
Thanks for any help guys, cheers!
I RMA'd my Nexus 6 and the replacement behaves the exact same way. Other non-Nexus 6 devices tested work just fine.
Has anyone actually used streaming USB audio other than me?

What app are you using to stream? I tried, but do t know if my radio wont accept it or not. I know I can't read movies from my phone or flash drive.

The idea behind USB audio streaming is that you don't need to use an app. The device streams any and all audio out of the phone via USB rather than out of the speakers. This means that you can use Spotify, Youtube, Pandora, PlayerPro, etc. while connected to your car stereo via USB and have the audio in your phone played through your car speakers in lossless digital. This is a feature that was introduced in Android 4.4 but seemingly is saught out by nobody but me.
Prior to USB audio out, these were common options/solutions, all with drawbacks:
1. Plug into the headphone jack which is an analog signal prone to noise, interference, and muddy EQ.
2. Plug into USB and Android will automatically mount your phones sdcard partition the same way as USB thumb drive. This only works for playing media files that are saved directly to the phone. All other sounds/apps do not work through as the phone's audio hardware is not being used. This means no Pandora, Spotify, etc. and no controlling music from the phone. Casper, your radio is probably trying to mount your N6 this way – most car stereos do and are not expecting have a device connected that is outputting its own hardware-driven digital audio stream.
3. Bluetooth. This was the best solution as it uses the phones audio hardware and thus all audio is output the same way as the new USB out feature. The drawback to this is that bluetooth uses lossy-compression and so is lower fidelity than option #2, though A2DP has made quality far better than it once was.
If you can't already tell, I'm sort of a fidelity nazi and this is why I'm so desperate to find a solution to this issue at hand with the Nexus 6 USB audio out that noone seems to know exists.
Any update on this? I just got my Project Fi Nexus 6 and I am regretting not doing more research on the USB streaming in the car. The iPhone 6 worked flawlessly and I could change songs with my car (I just lacked good service). The car usb won't even recognize my google play albums downloaded to my phone BUT it will pull up my zedge ringtones. Every time I try to fool around with it, it just keeps looping my Mario ringtone through my car speakers lol. But seriously, any suggestions. I am so desperate.

I gave up and went with using bluetooth. Cost me another $120 in bull**** hardware that Grom Audio sells to make this "upgrade" possible. Quality is **** compared to what it could've been as well... sigh... first world problems
I have a Grom USB2 and a Galaxy S4 that I just upgraded from 4.4.1 to 5.0.1 (Goldeneye ROM). I successfully streamed USB with KitKat (Grom has a configure file that enables their unit to do this) but have been unable to do the same thing with Lollipop. I did the *#0808# thing and tried several settings but nothing has worked. Any ideas?
So the Note 4 has the newest bluetooth software, version 4.1 and my Note 3 currently has the bluetooth software v4.0
My new car, the Honda Civic EX 2015, can easily connect to both Note 3 and 4 but the problem im having is that for media streaming (Playing music through the car via Bluetooth), the Note 3 displays the Artist, Song, Album, and the ability to "connect to the car" which allows me to use the wheel functions to change songs and the Note 4 cannot do all these things.
Is there anyway for me to downgrade my Note 4 Bluetooth software as Honda does not have an update to utilize the newest version of bluetooth.
Thank you
Nope you have to ? honda and see if your ? is compatible with your car
