[Q] Bluetooth V4.1 - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So the Note 4 has the newest bluetooth software, version 4.1 and my Note 3 currently has the bluetooth software v4.0
My new car, the Honda Civic EX 2015, can easily connect to both Note 3 and 4 but the problem im having is that for media streaming (Playing music through the car via Bluetooth), the Note 3 displays the Artist, Song, Album, and the ability to "connect to the car" which allows me to use the wheel functions to change songs and the Note 4 cannot do all these things.
Is there anyway for me to downgrade my Note 4 Bluetooth software as Honda does not have an update to utilize the newest version of bluetooth.
Thank you

Nope you have to ? honda and see if your ? is compatible with your car

[Q] Music wont display through bluetooth to car stereo

So i have a note 4,rooted and on firekat v5 (incase it matters). I got a new car and im able to play any audio file through it with no problems but it wont display the file name from neither pandora or the stock samsung music app on the note 4.
So i thought maybe it wasnt supported on this car. But then i added my wifes note 3 to my car and it displays the music it plays from pandora and the music app. So is there a fix or a workaround to make it work on my note 4?
No your car is out of date. Check the cars website for compatible devices.. See if dealer can do upgrade to your radio software.

[Q] Looking for some help with my note 4 edge

Morning.
I am having a problem with my note 4 edge and my car stereo. Here is a little background.
I have a 2012 Subaru STi with the stock stereo and Bluetooth capability. When I had a note 2 there were *zero* issues with the device automatically connecting when I got into the car and resuming where I left off.
When I traded my phone for the note 3, I lost the auto paring feature and had to go to my stereo every time I turned the car on and select my device. ( I did lots of trouble shooting here... stock, rooted, un rooted, different ROMs) and no mater what, I could not auto pair. Additionally, there were often times where in order to play a call through the stereo I had to go to the phone, select Bluetooth settings, select pair voice with car.
Soo it is time to get a note 4. I figure it cannot be any worse than going from a note 2 to the note 3. Boy was I wrong!
The note 4 does not auto connect either.
I use spotify for streaming the music and have the files downloaded locally to the phone. Without rhyme or reason, the music will simply stop playing and my car will show "BT-A (blue tooth audio) Paused as if I hit the pause button on spotify. When I look at the phone, the song is still playing without issue and is not paused as far as spotify is concerned. I then have to hit the back or next track song to resume playing music.
it is very random.. for example, 5-10 seconds into a song it stopped and did this about 10 times. The drive home yesterday would let me get about halfway through a song before this, and the day prior would always freeze a the end of a song.
I have reinstalled spotify, factory reset the phone without any luck.
I know the next step for trouble shooting is to start trying different media sources and comparing (holidays/work have made that hard).
has anyone had issues with their note 4 and their car stereo? I will likely just be buying a new stereo because this is starting to be frustrating.
You need new radio that supports bluetooth 4.0

Was there a change from functionality from the note 3 to note 4 regarding Bluetooth? If the autopairing is the issue, I understand that. However, once connected, I cannot figure out why it hiccups and stops.

Interesting. Man this was unexpected! Thank you very much for your info. I guess I figured this was not a Bluetooth generation issue since it still pairs when I manually do it.

so many changes it not worth buying a head unit cause you still gonna need to modify the phone with the new files as long as it does not need new hardware. if your note 3 worked maybe see if a dev is willing to downgrade ur bluetooth or teach ya what you need to move around.

Well I think a new head unit is in the future regardless, the STi is fast but lackluster with comfort features such as sound. Would it be safe to assume that any mid-top shelf head unit would be compatible? I have looked at a few, they do not seem to state a Bluetooth version with them.
I may just go toy around with some at the store and decide from that.

If you go to let's say pioneer site it has a place for compatibale devices. The note 4 is not yet but in future it might be. You can email them and ask if they will make it compatible in time. But it still not 100%

Have you tried using your phone with another bluetooth device example a bluetooth speaker etc?...The reason I ask is I have hands free bluetooth with my 2014 Nissan Titan, it worked fine with Note 3 I had previously, connected with no issues but when I received the Note 4 for some reason it would disconnect from bluetooth. I than decided to pair my wireless bluetooth speaker I use to listen music from my phone and it didn't work. So I had to get a replacement Note 4 as bluetooth was the issue on the Note 4 as it didn't work, so you might have the same issue.
Damn... i think you are right. Does the new note 4 work fine with your car? I jus thooked this up to my A33 bluetooth speaker and it does the same thing... cuts in and out, plays weird and not right. I already paid 25$ for the screen protector to be applied... im going to be pissed i have to return it.
Did you get a new device or refurb?

To throw another variable in the mix...
I have no issue with streaming Bluetooth Netflix to my Beats headphones... with spotify messing up with my car and blue tooth speaker, perhaps it is a spotify issue.
I will get another streaming app to test out.
How could it work with my headphones without issue, but not with other devices and result in a hardware problem for the phone? This is now making me think it is more likely an issue with spotify

Shows some interesting ways to mess with my car's stock head unit. One of the comments mentions there are two ways to pair a Bluetooth device and only 1 is meant for the owner which includes auto connect. I am going to see if that is my issue and post back!

Note 5 and Car Audio System

I have a 2015 Ford Focus ST with Nav and the Sync system. I cannot get the Note 5 to play audio over USB or BlueTooth. I can get audio over USB and BT on my iPhone 6 and an older Nexus 5 I have.
Does anyone know where the USB and BT settings are on the Note 5 so I can adjust them to get the Note 5 to work?
After your Bluetooth connects go into Bluetooth settings on your phone and make sure it is connected to both hands free profile and the media profile. Some vehicles do not support the media profile
i travel like 97% of the time for work, and mine has worked just fine in all the vehicles i've rented, including the focus hardbacks (I like their mpg). in fact, I find their BT systems to be better than other vehicles'.

Yep, make sure it connects to media. I had the same issue and went into settings. Works fine now.

He doesn't either.
Few updates.
I should clarify, I am hoping to get Pocket Cast to work so I can listen to podcasts.
I have added a few MP3 song files to the Note 5 and they will play of the USB. It worked as soon as I turned off USB Debugging. It appears the Note 5 is connecting as a storage device, as playing Pocket Cast on the device will not play to the car. I even changed the setting in Pocket Cast to make the files available to other apps on the device.
It appears the Note 5 will only connect to my Sync system as a phone when using BlueTooth. I turned the BT off on my iPhone 6 and deleted the device from the Sync system. It was only showing the Note 5 and I set it as the Favorite device. I then went to the BT settings on the Note 5 and when I go to the Media setting to ON under the Sync connection, it toggles to ON and then back to OFF. It will not stay in the ON position.

[Q] Note 9 Bluetooth Issue with QC35 II

Hi All,
I was trying to find a solution already although I couldn't find a similar topic just yet and I thought I might ask the almighty xda community about it :highfive:
Here's my stuff I'm experiencing the issue with:
- Samsung Galaxty Note 9 (Exynos, 128GB ROM, 6GB RAM)
- Bose QC35 II
- Thinkpad 470 (I think this is irrelevant though)
Here's the issue I'm experiencing:
I'm working in an office listening to music via the headphones and I'm simultaneously connected to both the Note 9 and the Thinkpad via BT. Phone is on Silent mode, although when I'm listening to Spotify on the Thinkpad and I get a notification on the Note for the duration of the notification, the music quality drops to about 96kbs or even lower making it sound worse than a casette player.
Any chance to adjust or set the phone not to try to send a signal to the headphones when it's set to silent?
Thank you guys.:fingers-crossed:
I think your best bet will be using Silent Mode Pro from the market

I have recently experienced that too. I noticed this problem when I updated the Samsung buds to the latest firmware. The first problem I noticed was that when the update finished it disconnected my Galaxy watch and made me reset it. I will do a factory reset on my phone and hopefully, that helps it.
Try to lower the AVRCP version in Developer settings in the Bluetooth section. Worked on my '13 Seat Ibiza with a portable Garmin system. After set it to 1.3, turn bluetooth off and on again.
If the AVRCP, which is set to 1.4 by factory, is too high, the music playback works mostly, but things like music controls and title information not.
I set it to 1.3 and it works for me now. I don't know if new devices are backward compatible, especially the Galaxy Buds.
Btw, I had similar issues with my old Huawei P10 on Android 8.0 (EMUI8). Google didn't implement the option to change the AVRCP version so I couldn't use my phone on the cars at work or rental cars - mostly VW and Mercedes.
I thought it was a hardware issue, but then I installed a 8.1 rom, where this option was enabled and from then it worked.
And with my iPhone 6S worked everything great 3 years ago under iOS9. 3 weeks ago I needed to use it again, updated to iOS 12 and it didn't work at all with my cars system. In iOS you don't have the ability to change the AVRCP version, so I guess Apple wants you to buy a new car, as Huawei does with EMUI8.
