Hi! I just bought my z3c and everything works except that most of the times, when I try to connect it to my home WiFi (Netgear DGN2200v3) I get an "Authentication Problem" message. I became aware of this issue when coming home and the smartphone would not auto connect.
I read somewhere that putting it in Aereo mode and then turn on again WiFi would do the trick, and in fact it does, but obviously this is not a solution.
I tried to:
- forget the network and reconnect
- triple check the password
- change wifi channel
- restart the router
- update the router firmware
- change some wifi settings on the z3c like switching on and off Optimize WiFi and Auto IP support
Is there anything else I can do?
Change the wifi security type.

Done, from WPA2 to none and back again.
However I just tried to reset my wifi settings with FXR WiFi fix and rescue and it worked. No more issues with autoconnect, no more authentication problems after a couple of tests.
My guess is that I had some previous backed up wifi profiles from google that were messed up, resetting them did the trick.

uh, I haven't needed to turn off google backup. maybe you should try to reactivate it, as new wifi data now are unlikely to be corrupted and can be backed up
I just wonder if my settings screwed up on z3c side or on nexus4, my previous phone.
well, whatever
Unfortunately didn't work for me.....

Hi all, newbie poster, but been on the forums for about 2 weeks. Thanks for all who have provided such great methods to unlock the full potential of the NC!
I flashed to Decad3nce's 1.1 ROM yesterday from my Autonootered 1.01 setup, and was able to get most issues worked out, but the one thing left that's bugging me is the WiFi. When I initially boot up, it seems the device recognizes my WiFi network, and connects. However, after I resume the NC from sleep, it doesn't reconnect to my access point. In fact, the only way I've been able to get the connection back it to use the stock browser, at which point I'm asked which network to connect to. It says my network is "remembered", but it won't connect automatically, I need to manually connect every time.
Any ideas on why this is happening, and how I can get the NC to automatically connect to my network after resuming from sleep?
Thank you!
Hi there. Wass havingg the same issue you had. Take a look at the instructions for enabling adhoc wifi on Nookdevs.com Wether you want to enable adhoc or not that's up to you. But i followed the directions for Settings Profile Pro from there. Now everytime i turn off my screen and turn it back in. My nook connects right away to my wifi network.
Edit: Mine connects fine. But with my wifes nook. If she is coming off a reboot. She would have to goto settings and connect initially. But after that. Everytime she turns off her screen and turns it back on it reconnects right away.
Good luck.

I had that problem with 1.01. It occured after I ran the script for swapping the adhoc and infrastructure supplicants without disabling wifi first. The only thing that fixed it for me was a full reset from 1.0.0. Router was a verizon fios router/modem.
I had this problem before and can't test if it still happens but for me it only happens with one wireless network and all the others are fine. Is that the way yours behaves? Since it worked fine with others I didn't really worry about it
You said you can only get it to work by opening the browser - does that mean it doesn't work if you toggle wifi off and on? That was usually how I got it to connect to that one network
Same issue. After sleeping it sees my AP but doesn't connect. Turning wifi off and on recovers it.

Well, it looks like no immediate solution to this other than starting from a factory reset. I restored my backup ROM from CWM that I saved prior to flashing to 1.1.0, and WiFi is working fine again, so I'll stay here on 1.0.1 until I hear of a solution. Plus, XDA app works as expected in 1.0.1 as well. Thanks for any additional help!
I'm having the same issue as others.
Decad3nce wanted some logs so I pasted them into PasteBin:
dmesg - pastebin.com/wsajYF77
logcat - pastebin.com/gPasCEtZ

Thanks for this post. This seems to have solved the problem for me.
Edit: Actually this didn't work I just didn't let it sleep long enough. Once it sleeps for several minutes WiFi requires a reset to reconnect.

Dmesg shows nothing wrong with tiwlan driver.
Logcat shows that the "nookwifimanager" just fails at reconnecting to preconfigured networks
Code:
D/NookWifiManager( 1188): Cannot connect to pre-configured networks
What kind of security do you have on your router? (might be wep bug)
Other than that, you can try using the patched wpa for ad-hoc
I was having an issue where it it would connect to Wi-Fi for a minute and then disconnect. I could turn off wi-fi and repeat the process. I restored to my last CW backup then I used the 1.1_r2 and everything worked perfectly. I'd rollback to the backup you did (if you followed Deced3nce's steps) then use the r2 update. It's made all the difference for me.
I flashed r2 and I'm having the same issue...I have to turn off/on wifi after it goes to sleep in order for it to connect

Did you flash it over top of r1? Or did you start with 1.0.1? And were you using any special kernels prior to the flash?
similar issue - wifi only works after a reboot. after sleep it can see but cannot connect to either adhoc or infrastructure networks. no fix other than to reboot. which is a huge PitA

I actually flashed it over rooted 1.0.0. And I was running the 900 mhz kernel
My wifi keeps cycling between on and off on my Nook. Sometimes it will stay on, and appear like it wants to connect to my wifi, but all it does is get stuck at the "obtaining ip address" portion of the process.
What do I need to do to remedy this?
I found the same problem, I can say that the Froya rom is almost perfect for me, except the problem that the WIFI lost and cyclical on and off. I tried many ways recomeended but no luck.
If someone can help to solve this please !!!
I had this problem before, and it was because of an improper flash. I skipped a step of wiping data and cache before applying the flash.
Settings -> Date & Time -> UNCHECK Automatic
that solved most of the problem for me.. its still unreliable, but atleast it doesnt get stuck in a loop anymore.
Maybe you should delete all networks registered on your phone. in case you have chosen to remember some WiFi networks in the past.
Then turn off/on your wifi network

So my wife's motox decided to stop connecting to my home wifi/cable modem. My phone (LG G2) as well as all laptops/tablets connect fine. My G2 can see about 8 nearby networks, the MotoX always sees my neighbors network and occasionally a 2nd or 3rd but that's about it. If my home network finally shows up I enter the password and it immediately switches to "Out of range" and shows as a Saved network. I enabled the hotspot on my phone and the MotoX still didn't show the hotspot. Here are the things I've tried so far:
- Forget network and readd it if/when it finally shows up as a visible network.
- Cleared cache from recovery
- Rebooted
- Toggling airplane mode
- Disable just data
- Power cycled cable modem. Also Hard reset it and set the network back up.
- Disable wifi optimization, notify when open network is available, as well as the always allow scanning.
- Switched from auto to 2.4 Ghz only.
- Switched between multiple channels on router.
The MotoX is the Canadian version, 4.4.2 stock, unrooted. Router is an awesome Hitron piece of crap but it's been working perfectly fine for months.
Short of doing a factory reset, does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

You have already tried everything that I would suggest, short of a factory reset. If you do factory reset, please let us know if it resolves your issue. Since you are not rooted, I'm confused as to how this could happen :/
Good Luck
I am assuming you have already unchecked the "avoid poor connections" option too in the wifi settings.

It was already unchecked so I didn't touch it.
Some routers can't handle certain number of conectinons, try rebooting your router
The router is built in with the cable modem which I've already rebooted as well as reset completely. Also with the phone only able to see a couple of networks at a time when there should be 8 - 10 visible at any time I think the phone is the problem. I just can't figure out what happened.

A few users have randomly had issues with WiFi, and their issues were only resolved by flashing the entire stock SBF as per the "Return to Stock" thread.
If a factory reset does not resolve your issue, you may consider SBFing back to stock. Since you will be flashing the stock rom (with matching CID), this is possible even with a locked bootloader.
Good Luck
I saw some posts about the SBF thing but wasn't sure if that applied to an unrooted / locked device or not. Thanks for the info.

An update for anyone looking for one. Her phone stated working fine yesterday on its own. It picked up and connected to our home network on its own and it can see all of the nearby networks like mine does.
Neither of us have done anything to it yet. Haven't touched the router or her phone since I first posted the problem.
Sorry I don't have an actual solution for you.

Ok so wifi decided to crap out again. This time I did a full wipe (internal storage included) and now wifi doesn't even turn on. It flips to ON for half a second then immediately back to off. Bluetooth does the same thing. I've called my provider (Rogers) and they're sending me another one.
Considering the wifi and bluetooth are on the same chip I guess the whole chip is toast or loose or something. Either way its well beyond a software fix.

You did a full wipe, but did you actually SBF back to stock? As I had commented previously, ONLY a full SBF back to stock can repair a corrupted filesystem. A "Full wipe" just erases cache and userdata.
SBFing actually REPLACES all the partitions. If you haven't tried, you can't say for certain that it is well beyond a software fix. It could have simply been a corrupt file...
Good Luck
If it was my phone I would have tried a SBF but considering it's my wife's she's a big more hesitant to let me and if they're sending us a new one, why bother?
Hello,
I recently flashed .575 on my Z3C, now WiFi connection is unstable, disconnects after a while. The consequence is that updates do not work correctly, file transfers through WiFi are often interrupted. Did any one notice the same behavior? Any fixes (tried different AP and to reflash the FW)...
Thx
Problem persists in 23.5.A.1.291
Similar issue here
I also have problems with the latest 23.5.A.1.291 firmware. There are two problems in fact, sometimes it disconnects and can't reconnect anymore without rebooting and the other is that, while it still seems connected to wifi, it's effectively offline as internet doesn't work anymore, after a while it starts working again.
It's a pity because the Z3C was the device with the best wifi and coverage that I've ever tried with the previous Lollipop. I partially resolved the problem, meaning that it happens less, changing a few parameters into the router, disabling every possible feature, still isn't completely resolved...

I'm not OP, however I tried that setting but it didn't improve much. After all, DHCP is a protocol which should be used only at connection startup theoretically
I also have the same issue, however installing Auto Wifi Manager seems to have helped -

Already tried but it didn't helped. As for the issue, for me it disconnects and reconnects instantly even with full signal every 5-10 min. So it does not eat my mobile data however every lengthy file transfert by wifi might be interrupted.
Tried different channels, 2.4ghz, 5 GHz on two different routers at home, on several public Wi-Fi AP, behavior is still the same.
If screen is on the connection stays but is sometimes interrupted and reconnects directly. If screen is off Wi-Fi gets cut for 2-5 min then reconnects (according to logcat, might be Doze? Wi-Fi is set to be always on). Tried also a full reset of radio settings.
Solution
Does not work unfortunately.
I might have a good news for you guys. I think I finally managed to solve the issue:
1) Download a Lollipop FTF
2) Open flashtool in Flashmode for this FTF and exclude everything except packages beginning with AMSS* (it will not alter any data on the phone and it's very quick, also does not need to regenerate the dalvik cache)
3) Flash
-> You just replaced the baseband / modem with the Lollipop one. Tested briefly on mine and so far no disconnections
Same problem here, after update to .575, and .291 didn't help.
Sometimes when I open WiFi networks phone doesn't find any network at all. Also bluetooh is acting weird sometimes (disconnects, can't turn on).
Tried with DHCP and clearing radio settings, and even downgrading to 23.4.A.1.264 and 23.1.A.1.28, didn't helped.
May be it is hardware related... I am on 4.4.4 and have same issues. On some routers better, on some worse. Also sometimes works ok for long time, next day same place disconnecting...
In my case, everything was OK until upgrade to MM

For me downgrading to Lollipop 23.4.A.1.264 solved the issue but as soon as I install Marshmallow, even a clean install by PC Companion the problem reappears. So I will stay on Lollipop for now, it also has Stanima
I think something is wrong with the way Marshmallow manages the WiFi connection

Hi guys,
I recently bought a Oneplus 3t and everything was working fine.
But recently when I tried to connect my Wifi at work it keeps connected, but I cant browse the internet. There was a login page where I had to enter my email address, but it doesnt show up anymore when I connect to the Wifi.
I have clean installed LineageOS and then back to stock rom via ADB sideload , but still the same thing is happening. All other devices can connect to the Wifi, but when I connect my phone, I cant browse the internet. I have tried to change the IP address and DNS server as well.
When I open chrome and go to google.com it says "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET"
What does it shows in wifi settings? Do you have two lines in IP adress?

Well do what you can to figure out if it's the phone or the network
Use different devices, see if the network is up
See if the device will connect to a different network
Easiest way to narrow it down if you can
If it is the phone...cycle power, reset network settings, factory reset in that order. Or something similar

So as a general rule you start with options that won't lose you any data you want.
Then you go forward towards more "extreme" steps
So factory reset is basically the laymens ultimate step, and just like you described it, this comes last. Only do this if you can't connect to multiple networks and have backed up your data properly (if you don't care about your data you can do it right now tho)
Power cycling = turning device on and off, this is your first step
Next you're going to reset the network settings
Then if that doesn't work you can wipe all the data from settings as you described, but I wouldn't recommend doing that until you're sure it's your phone and not your network. Most of the time if you backup the data completely there is a possibility your'e going to restore the glitch with the good data.
Good luck

I have tried to completely wipe off all data from the phone, flashed Resurrection Remix, LineageOS and OOS 3.5.4, but I'm still having the same problem. The WiFi works for everybody else, but when I connect it shows that "Connected, no internet". It's a public WiFi and a login page needs to show, but it just asks that there is not internet and whether I'd like to stay connected. When I first got the phone it worked fine, and even showed the login page.
