WiFi connection issiue - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I recently bought a Oneplus 3t and everything was working fine.
But recently when I tried to connect my Wifi at work it keeps connected, but I cant browse the internet. There was a login page where I had to enter my email address, but it doesnt show up anymore when I connect to the Wifi.
I have clean installed LineageOS and then back to stock rom via ADB sideload , but still the same thing is happening. All other devices can connect to the Wifi, but when I connect my phone, I cant browse the internet. I have tried to change the IP address and DNS server as well.
When I open chrome and go to google.com it says "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET"

What does it shows in wifi settings? Do you have two lines in IP adress?

I have downgraded OOS 4.0.3 to 3.5.4 but still the problem persists. I do not have access to the router.

Well do what you can to figure out if it's the phone or the network
Use different devices, see if the network is up
See if the device will connect to a different network
Easiest way to narrow it down if you can
If it is the phone...cycle power, reset network settings, factory reset in that order. Or something similar

When you say cycle power, what do mean by that? And for the factory reset, should I do it through phone's setting menu and completely wipe data as well?

So as a general rule you start with options that won't lose you any data you want.
Then you go forward towards more "extreme" steps
So factory reset is basically the laymens ultimate step, and just like you described it, this comes last. Only do this if you can't connect to multiple networks and have backed up your data properly (if you don't care about your data you can do it right now tho)
Power cycling = turning device on and off, this is your first step
Next you're going to reset the network settings
Then if that doesn't work you can wipe all the data from settings as you described, but I wouldn't recommend doing that until you're sure it's your phone and not your network. Most of the time if you backup the data completely there is a possibility your'e going to restore the glitch with the good data.
Good luck

I have tried to completely wipe off all data from the phone, flashed Resurrection Remix, LineageOS and OOS 3.5.4, but I'm still having the same problem. The WiFi works for everybody else, but when I connect it shows that "Connected, no internet". It's a public WiFi and a login page needs to show, but it just asks that there is not internet and whether I'd like to stay connected. When I first got the phone it worked fine, and even showed the login page.

App Blocking 3g Access

I currently have something on the phone not allowing 3g access. I can't seem to figure out what it is, but I believe I narrowed it down to an App. I did a wipe and clean rom install and 3g was working fine. I did a titanium backup restore of all apps with data and now 3g isn't working again. Anyone know of an easy way to pinpoint what is blocking my 3g? I tried ending all tasks in advanced task manager, but I'm guessing the phone would need a reboot to bring back 3g?
Have you check you settings-wireless & networks-mobile networks-use only 2g networks?
ya I tried using only 2g network, I even tried researching the network and it finds tmobile in the settings. I even went as far as getting a fresh sim card prior to wiping the phone. Somehow after an app/data restore from titanium back up, tmobile internet no longer works still. It's why I wiped in the first place.
1) Double check your APN settings in settings > networks > mobile networks
2) In dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#* > choose phone info > scroll down > verify that 'set preferred network type' reads WCDMA preferred.
3) Also in settings, make sure you didnt set 'use 2g only'. Same location as #2 above
Thanks for your help. I actually just did a nandrestore from an image I had that was a week old and internet came back, so it has to of been something I done within a weeks time. I just hope I don't end up hitting the app that stopped it, if I think it was one, because thats the only thing that makes sense to me.
I have your same problem could you be so kind as to attach the img you put so I try too? thanks

Then you will have his phone.
you mean....?
i Think i have a similar problem... I turn 3g on and after half an hour i cannot access the internet anymore... The sign in the notification area shows the "sent arrow" blinking but the receive arrow does nothing... I have apndroid to control my 3g usage... I unistalled it, did a reboot but again the problem persists... Do you have anything in mind???
I forgot to mention that the exact same thing happens with 2g network as well

When someone does a nandroid backup, it backs up all the data on the phone. All of it, if you restore it to your phone, you will be logged into google as him, you will have all his contacts, messages, settings etc. If one of you downloads something, it may download on both machines. The only way to fix it would be to wipe both of them.
i have the same problem. two days ago its working fine. i just turn on turn off the wifi and it just works again.
Can also try turning the airplane mode on/off. This problem occurs if you use APNdroid or similar, or toggle mobile connection on the Desire ROM.
tired of trying and try to wipe, reset, several rom, so I decided to send it to HTC in England ... and the problem is which has the bootloader unlock my ...

Wi-Fi Not Working (Nookie Froyo)

My wifi keeps cycling between on and off on my Nook. Sometimes it will stay on, and appear like it wants to connect to my wifi, but all it does is get stuck at the "obtaining ip address" portion of the process.
What do I need to do to remedy this?
I found the same problem, I can say that the Froya rom is almost perfect for me, except the problem that the WIFI lost and cyclical on and off. I tried many ways recomeended but no luck.
If someone can help to solve this please !!!
I had this problem before, and it was because of an improper flash. I skipped a step of wiping data and cache before applying the flash.
Settings -> Date & Time -> UNCHECK Automatic
that solved most of the problem for me.. its still unreliable, but atleast it doesnt get stuck in a loop anymore.
Maybe you should delete all networks registered on your phone. in case you have chosen to remember some WiFi networks in the past.
Then turn off/on your wifi network

3g/H packet data problem - N7000

Hi there! would like to seek your help regarding my galaxy note, I encounter packet data on/ff and cannot connect to mobile data (internet) but my sim card is working (can send sms and call). i just put my phone yesterday to flight mode and after that it cannot able to connect to internet. I did factory reset and some wipe of cache.. is there any advice? my phone is rooted already with franco kernel (stock ICS rom only). Please help Sir.
Please do not "FACTORY RESET" , You could potentially brick your phone.
1. Try to see if you have your "DATA" on. With DATA off 3g/h/h+ will not work only wifi would.
2. Worst case scenario, take out your SIMCARD and put it back again.

Hi, Thanks for the reply,
I already did some of the basic steps, It just so happen that the history of this problem was because after I put my phone to "flight mode for about 5 hours" and the the packet data icon "3g/H" were no "DOWN arrow" color orange where as I know is a sign of good connection. but the icon only lit the "UP arrow" please help
May also be a issue with having incorrect APN information (Some carriers do not Automatically push out the right details)
Under settings> Wireless And Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Check the listings are correct for your network.

Hi, Actually my phone's packet data was working well before I put it in "flight mode" meaning my APN settings is OK. for reference here are some of my screen shots which I edit to see the ICONS status,,thanks for the help!.
Don't know what still seems like a apn issue. Only because I would expect atleast one reply from the network during the connection discussions.
The fact that the orange arrow never lights up to me indicates that the network never gets the sent packets.
Have you tried anything like the apn on/off alps from the the playstore.
Otherwise I cannot see why having airplane mode on for a while would permanently ruin your data connection

Hi, yup but as you know some apn tweatering app is no longer feasible with ICS,
Yes, I am also not convince about after flight mode / airplane mode activation that causes my phone not to connect to the internet. I guess this is related to root bug, this was my 1st time to enable flight mode under rooted condition so I wonder that this might be the root caused. Can anyone suggest to unroot? Please advice, Thanks and Mabuhay!
Bump
Sorry to be bumping this old thready but was the OP able to ressolve the problem? I have been having exactly the same issue but only intermitantly, if I reset my phone everything is fine for a while and then all of a sudden I loose the orange arrow and will only see green.
I am unable to recieve calls or make them, no internet etc. I am on Tmobile UK now EE, have gone through the standard error checking with tmobile but no luck, first they said it was the network being down and no they say it's my phone but I don't see how it's been fine for ages and all of a sudden I have this problem.
It's totally random, I have decent reception so I have say 3g or h+ with 2 or 3 bars but no orange arrow
Any ideas?

Wifi Authentication problem

Hi! I just bought my z3c and everything works except that most of the times, when I try to connect it to my home WiFi (Netgear DGN2200v3) I get an "Authentication Problem" message. I became aware of this issue when coming home and the smartphone would not auto connect.
I read somewhere that putting it in Aereo mode and then turn on again WiFi would do the trick, and in fact it does, but obviously this is not a solution.
I tried to:
- forget the network and reconnect
- triple check the password
- change wifi channel
- restart the router
- update the router firmware
- change some wifi settings on the z3c like switching on and off Optimize WiFi and Auto IP support
Is there anything else I can do?
Change the wifi security type.
Sent from my D5803 using XDA Free mobile app
Done, from WPA2 to none and back again.
However I just tried to reset my wifi settings with FXR WiFi fix and rescue and it worked. No more issues with autoconnect, no more authentication problems after a couple of tests.
My guess is that I had some previous backed up wifi profiles from google that were messed up, resetting them did the trick.

uh, I haven't needed to turn off google backup. maybe you should try to reactivate it, as new wifi data now are unlikely to be corrupted and can be backed up
I just wonder if my settings screwed up on z3c side or on nexus4, my previous phone.
well, whatever
Unfortunately didn't work for me.....

[Q] XT1058 Can't connect to WiFi

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post here so I will try to be clear and short.
I'm using a Moto X XT1058, first, Stock Br Android 5.1 Firmware, unlocked bootloader I had a long time since I upgraded from 4.4.4, until yesterday everything went normal, when I arrived home from work I noticed my phone didn't connect automatically to my house lan, so I tried to manually select the SSID on the WiFi menu and I clicked connect, then, instead of the "connecting" > "Assigning IP Address" > "connected" steps, it changed to saved and no connection was made, and every time I try it does the same. I tried almost everything I could to fix this and the result is the same (images attached):
- Clicked on forgot, and tried again with the correct password.
- Reset my router to factory and upgraded firmware.
- Switched over different wireless authentication methods, even open.
- No firewall or MAC filtering is activated on my router.
- Wireless settings are the default, I can connect with any other device except my phone works( Notebook, Desktop with Wireless adapter, my dad's phone Moto G).
- I made a factory reset on my MotoX, switched over 5.1, I made a downgrade to 4.4.4, full wipe, loaded a past backup with twrp, flashed via mfastboot manually, switched again to a fresh install of 5.1, still can't connect.
- I read something about cleaning wifi cache and accessing wlan test and test wifi drivers using dialer code *#*#526#*#* but it didn't work on mine, also read something about checking wireless interface using a root terminal, but honestly I'm starting to lose faith on this...
I like this phone so much and I don't wanna expend on another unless this really doesn't have any fix.
When going to the WiFi Options (three dots bottom right on the WiFi screen) make sure "Avoid poor connections" isn't checked, also try selecting the right band (2,4 or 5GHz) manually. Also turn of "WiFi Optimization", unlikely that this causes your problems but overall this setting will bring you into trouble before it saves a noteable amount of battery. Do you see a MAC Address on the bottom there? On your router manually set a channel (on 2,4 GHz try 7, should be pretty empty there). Try enabling WiFi on your phone while your routers WiFi is off, then turn on the router. Maybe you can solve this by manually restarting the service on the phone through terminal or adb if you have root, that works for me although I had a little different problem:
su
svc wifi disable
svc wifi enable
disable first even if you disabled through the menubutton.
I tried

Hello and thanks for replying! I tried what you suggested with no luck, today I noticed the problem got worse... not my phone doesn't detects any wifi signal...
I think this is a hardware failure problem and I have yo buy another phone
Any other ideas?
Sad to hear that, one last thing you could try is removing the battery. Since this isn't possible without disassembly there's a trick I got from the Motorola Service, they call it Hung State Recovery:
This works as if the battery was removed from the device. Since it is built-in it is impossible
to remove the battery for it would void the warranty.
This process terminates all running commands from the processor allowing it to start anew.
No Data will be lost in the process.
With the device switched OFF (even if the device is not turning ON at all) follow the steps
bellow.
1. Please press and hold the VOL DOWN key
2. While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
3. Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. It must be more than 2 minutes!
4. After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
5. The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
6. Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.

Unlikkely that this will help but it's just 2 minutes and at least a chance.

Hello again... I almost gived up since yesterday but I don't know why, I wanted to try again... I even ordered a new phone from an online shop... but I just tried to connect to my wifi, and the reason why it wasn't detecting any APs was because I left the 5.0 Ghz band activated on one of my failed attempts to get Wifi working. Just switched again to automatic, clicked on my home AP and authenticated with my password and Bingo! It worked...
Not sure why but it got fixed somehow
Thanks for helping me out, I would try to sell it since I got a new one.
Good to hear that, that's a pretty common issue as it seems why I already suggested forcing the phone to use the right band. Don't set to automatic if you don't need both frequencies. Instead of selling the Moto X why don't you ship the new one back? If still sealed you shouldn't have problems getting a refund and in terms of one hand useable screen size, memory and cpu power you shouldn't need more until it comes to games or some strange kinds of usage where everybody clear in mind would choose a laptop.
