Another defect noted excuse the pun. - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Damn home button seems to be blistering.
When I first bought my note 4 I noticed something that resembles a dust nib under paint on the home button. Didn't really bother me too much but today after over a month of use I noticed the so called dust nib under the home button getting bigger. I used my nail to spread it down and it went back to its original size. Looks like over time this will lift back up and probably eventually peel away.
And no, I'm won't be sending it back at the expense of 20 fee for replacement lottery. Hopefully it'll be good for another 10 months..

I'll do that if it starts to pop or peel off. Life's too short yo stress over small things. Its only a phone and gets changed in a year so whatever. ... I'll probably be taking to you on the note 5 forums next year as we did on the note 3 days.

VZN MotoX Dropping calls after 3-5 mins.

Guys,
I am having a very annoying issue with my MotoX (both my previous Dev Ed. or my new Motomaker wood back), I consistently drop call after between 3 to 5 minutes, it seems to last a little longer when using a headset, but it will still drop ultimately. I am stock, unrooted just some disabled bloat app. Anyone have that kind of issue, any fixes? Could it be a Verizon issue?

Carrier? edit I blind!!!
I'm assuming you have good signal/service when this is happening? (otherwise that would be the obvious answer)
Since it doesn't appear to be the device, it could be your SIM card. You could try asking Verizon to give you a new one, it's free.

They used to be very good about that kind of issue. You can/could ask for a trouble ticket.

Ok, so the recall was issued. Who is returning their phone?

Will you be returning your phone? And what happens with our pre order gifts?
I sure as hell am, starting to have more and more issues...

I get it but others were started before the recall, and asked 'if the recall happens'. It has happened.
I called TMO, and they offered a shipping label and full reimbursement. I asked if I can hold onto the phone untill the non defective model is available and return mine then. Im waiting for them to get back to me on that. I havent had any issues, but still want the updated model once available.
Oh, and theres no way their getting the sd card back.

Same here, got the SD card last week, that is mine. I think this is a good strategy to wait for the 'fixed' model, especially since you have no issues yet

Returning my note7 on the off chance it's a grenade disguised as a smartphone, really the only wonky issue I've had is several times waking up in the morning my phone showed full bars but no LTE/4g, no data, no internet, no calls.. Trouble shot as well I know how but the only thing was a reboot to get it to recognize LTE and access data again.
Going to wait until I can walk into a store and get it replaced. Few weeks I'd guess.
I will be participating in the recall. I hope they dont set up the process to where we're without handsets. I dont have a backup ... If Asurion insurance sends the new handset to you first, Sammy can work with retailers to do some direct-exchange program.
Honestly, if we all have to wait for a newly manufactured phone, I think they should release the 6gb ram/128gb storage model in the US. To make up for their colossal screw up.

From what I was told by tmo on the phone, you return the n7 for a full refund, and repurchase the new one once available.

Apparently the ones from China are safe, different stock of batteries were used. Mine was manufactured in China, but I'm still going to get the best one when they become available.

Warranty Replacement

I just processed an advanced replacement request through Motorola for my Nexus 6 with display uniformity issues. Just wondered for anyone that has received a replacement from Motorola, how was the replacement? I assume they're all refurbished phones. Has anyone had issues with the replacement like screen burn in or other issues upon receipt? Thanks!
I had two replacements come in last month, one which I am letting someone else use. Mine is working great. The other phone started having battery issues a few days ago.... The phone will shut off with no warning at random percentages all day long. 15%, 68%, 98%, etc. So, it looks like it's going to have to be RMAed.
I got my replacement today. Looks brand new. The screen is good, no burn in at all. November 2015 build date. Thumbs up so far Motorola.
Just sent one nexus 6 in for broken wireless charging and got a different phone sent back as a replacement with wireless charging also not working. Should I just give up everything seems good other than the wireless charging issues? I have so many wireless chargers it's sad to have to plug it in every time. Has anyone ever gotten a refurb back from Moto Care and had wireless charging working? I think they either stopped adding the coil or stopped hooking them back up when refurbishing them.
I had a replacement from Google which was a refurbished phone and it looked to me like a factory new one. Perfect.

Yea mine all look good, but did wireless charging work?
Yes, everything was perfect. I remember watching a Youtube review of the N6 by the tech god Marques Brownlee and one of the things that he mentioned was that even on his review model he couldn't get wireless charging to work. Maybe the N6 is a bit fussy about the type of wireless charger you use? I've been using a ChoeTech one for 18 months and it works fine - I occasionally have to re-centre the N6 to get it to pick up the charge, but once it's in the right place it charges perfectly overnight.
You probably got a new one back then, I'm talking about right now at the 2 year mark. I have 7 different wireless chargers, all work fine with my note 5. I think the refurbs at this point are the issue or I'm just extremely unlucky right now. Google and Motorola are two different companies. Motorola probably took out the part to save $1.
I just tested the replacement i just received and wireless charging doesn't work! WTF Motorola?

I think XDA should do a front page story asking people that have refurbished nexus 6 to check wireless charging and then we all make some noise at Motorola. For God sakes, I tried chatting with them and they kept trying to tell me to call accessories support saying wireless chargers are an accessory. I may just take the back off an fix this myself.

LOL, I am still on hold. They better not charge me for this replacement. I received the perfect device display wise too. I don't use wireless charging that much but it's really bugs me that it's broke.

V20 is the only option but good thing I'll hold on to my baby till it releases.
This whole fiasco almost looks to me like a sabotage or complete incompetence among engineers. Do they actually know what the problem is? Because apparently it is not what they said it was. So what happens if the phone gets stolen or lost?
Ya this phone is just premium in every way. I dont even think a v20 will be as badass as this phone. I'm holding on to mine until some more info is released

Seems to me this issue started soon after pulling the battery process to their internal plants instead of outsourcing to reputable manufacturers. Looks like it was a corner cutting, cost saving routine. But look how much it's costing them now. Seems they took this process for granted instead of making a quality product they screwed themselves so hard, the note line could be cursed. The upcoming S8, I won't be an adopter, watch everyone else get burned just like we are now.
Yea I plan on holding on to mine too. I been thinking all day what phone could I replace it with and I literally came up with nothing. I got a few cases on the way, 256 gb sd card is on the way, gear vr on the way ????

Porting Tomato Garden Note8 v6.0 Rom for Galaxy Note 8 SM-N9500

Hello,
I am one of the unfortunate people who own Samsung galaxy Note-8 SM-N9500 duos. There are no custom roms available in XDA, and nor we can install Xposed in it. There are modified Stock roms available in Chinese forums for this variant, but unfortunately all are in Chinese language.. So any expert XDA members, kindly make these roms in English and upload for us to enjoy them.

I have been on the same quest to find a port or away to Flash to a US based FW. I have had not real luck other than hints that it may take a Odin FW flash based off of SM-N950U1 I can not confirm. If someone can help with anyway to get the Phone to work on a US carrier (Big Red for me) It would sure be appreciated.
If I find anything else I will post here.
When will come the Android oreo finally???
So you wouldn't recommend getting the 9500 duos? Can't it be US localized? Can you explain more why it's unfortunate?
Is it better to get the 950F/DS?
I am thinking about changing to a dual SIM but I can't find a 128gb dual SIM except the 9500. I need 2 sims but 64 gb wont really be enough for me . Would appreciate understanding better the issue.

Be careful I bought SM-N9500N Korean version, the 256GB 6GB RAM Blue one that we Do have root and xposed for. There is this bullcrap called the "Black screen of Death" and its Samsungs faulty software crashing our phones! The messed up part is once it happens Samsung IS NOT helping anyone with any type of International Version this year! So my phone as of 2 days ago is officially done. It makes it so it wont charge. It makes it so it wont charge. have a charger charge it with the cable and have a second source charge it on a charging mat. leave it for 30 mins and try again
dont think your issues are inherently because its a Korean n950n.
im on the exact same phone and have 0 harware/stock software issues since last october.
i flash several times a week. gone back and forth between stock and custom, nougat and oreo.
issue you describe seem to be the deep discharge problem that is not related to your specific model.
alot of people will say the n950n is the best model of the note 8 and appart form it not being dual sim, i surely think it is.

I did that I've been doing it for 2 days and it still hasn't taken a charge yet. When I left work it was on about 88% I walk from the building to the car pulled my phone out to call my wife and it was totally dead in the blue light was blinking. I try to do reboots and pull up TWRP all night long and nothing would happen. By this point it was 2 a.m. and I fell asleep I woke up the next day fresh and worked on it for about 8 hours trying to do reboots and charge it. From that point I went out and bought a wireless charger and use that as well as using a regular charger going back and forth back and forth back and forth all day yesterday. So I've been doing that for two days and it still is acting like it will not charge at all

The only thing I can think of now is to maybe get a better wireless charger I bought a little cheaper one from Rite Aid for 10 bucks. It did charge my Note 5 though. I just don't get it it just went dead but I Googled the issue and stories about the black screen of death came up

Or possibly the last thing I can think of is Samsung doesn't honor warranties on the international version. Is maybe to ship it out to one of the developers and just send him some cash and let him tinker with it

although this is getting off topic,
after reading around the web, instead of holding the combo buttons for 1 minute, it seems it is more for around 10 minutes. once you get dl mode might as well flash stock just in case.
might want to start your own thread if not already done.
