[Q] Battery shows 100% on plugging in instantly. - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using the Moto X for a day and a half or so and the battery was down to round about the last 20% so I decided to plug it in to charge. When I did that, the battery instantly changed to 100%!! I'm sure this is a bug so I was wondering if anyone knew where the problem could lie and a possible solution. For now I've kept it plugged in for a couple of hours because that's how long it takes for it to charge completely.
I'm running Android 5.0, not rooted or anything.
Cheers!

Tilt Battery Issue

I have OEM battery and it was working great for last year and half. Now a days when I put it in charging it charges the battery but my screen does not show it correct percentage it is chaged for.
If I put this battery in my wife's phone it show it is charged 100%, if I put 100% charged battery from my wife's phone in my phone it show 67%.
If I put it to charge via my phone I get led showing correctly that it is charging, even in battery status show it is charging.
Issue is it is not showing correct percentage (I think) what my be issue battery, phone , rom.....?
Old battery!!!
but same old battery works fine in wife's phone
but same old battery works fine in wife's phone.
Try cleaning the contacts on your phone.
they are as brighte as silver
they are as bright as silver but issue continue.
So this is normal?

Does a year and a half make this OEM old? My OEM Tilt battery, also 1 1/2 years old, just started giving me only about an hour of talk time from a full charge. So this is not unusual? It's annoying as h*ll, that's for sure.
I've seen the same issues between my Tilt and my wife's Tilt (actually my wife replaced her Tilt with an iPhone), so I should say between my first Tilt and my second Tilt.
The problem happens once every two months or so. I usually put the battery in the phone that shows the higher battery life and let it drain down to zero over the next few days. This has solved the problem for me so far.
If he is using a different battery in the same phone, and getting the same result, I would say its not the battery.
I'm having a similar issue, where after a full charge the phone works fine for awhile, then shuts off if i use the web browser or gps for more than a minute. After I turn it back on(and if it lets me) my battery reads only about 5%. I thought it might be the battery but even though I bought a new battery, I still have the same problems.
I've even reflashed to a new rom to try and correct the problem, but without luck.
I think maybe a year or so is about the life span for this phone. Or maybe a few escaped quality control, and we just happen to be the lucky ones.
I had a similar issue with my kaiser, then it started not charging the battery intermittently which meant id constantly wake up with a dead phone in the morning after an allnight charge.
Then it stopped charging altogether, HTC sent me a new battery which did exactly the same.
So i sent it off and it turned out to be a motherboard issue with the charging circuit.
Hope that helps
full overnight charge only charge to 70%
when i put battery for full overnight, it charge only charge to 70%. I will give it a try to drain to 0% and then see what happens. I am sure this is issue with phone and nothing to do with battery but still can not solved the problem. Can not send to HTC as warrenty already passed.

Battery Meter Issues

Hi All,
Loving my new Vivid. It's quite a step up from my Inspire. However I have noticed a strange issue with the battery meter. When I view Battery Usage, the time since last charge doesn't change unless I reboot the phone. Then, upon reboot, the battery charge level is about 10% higher that before. I noticed this issue with my Atrix, and am wondering if it's just a Gingerbread bug?
Thanks
My guess is it is an inherent OS Flaw because I had the same issue with my OG Atrix (Until I flashed a custom Rom) and Atrix 2. Haven't had this phone long enough to know for sure but I am guessing if your seeing it I might as well. Just had the phone plugged in for a bit and looked at the time on the phone for uptime before I plugged it in and after and yea I can verify I am having the same exact issue. Kinda an annoyance but eh whatever.
what i've noticed:
charges fine with the supplied charger.
if i use a motorola charger or usb from computer it either charges slow or not at all.
i used the phone this morning until it got to 89% i plugged into the usb and it dropped to 84 over time, now it's holding between 84% and 85% but not going above 85?
When you check the battery usage make sure you exit out of it (back arrow cap button) instead of hitting the home button or it will not show updated stats...

[Q] S4A Charging Issues

Before I begin I apologize if this has been posted before. I tried to find something similar but to no avail. Recently I'd say less than a month ago my phone charges very strangely. Example is there are times I'll have it plugged up before I go to bed around 11pm and get up at 5 during the week. And there are times my phone does not fully charge. It will have been plugged at 8% and in the morning it will be at 70. Also when plugged if I am doing anything it will slowly drain the battery and ultimately power off. My wife's gs4 has no problem rocking out and charging. So known information is I am using the stock factory charger I received I have tried different batteries. My phone is rooted with the geohot method. Any clues or help is greatly appreciated.

Moto X won't charge past 3%

I have a Moto X 2013 that, after replacing the battery with a supposedly new, OEM battery, refuses to charge past 3%. This phone is rooted and was rom'd with the Nougat xPerience rom, but I tried flashing it with Nougat Lineage as a troubleshooting test.
I replaced the battery last night without incident, and the phone booted and seemed to behave fine, and the battery had about 30% charge. The only issue I found immediately after replacing the battery was a battery app installed on the phone saying the battery hasn't been charged for -19000 hours, or something a long those lines (I can't remember exactly what it said, as I did not install the app, my friend did who I was fixing the phone for. I just remember it was some outrageously large negative number.). Thought it was weird, and maybe thought it was a software issue, so I booted to TWRP and wiped the cache and dalvik. Rebooted the phone, and the app reset to something along the lines of 500 hours. That is a bit more believable.
I plugged the phone into my laptop to let it charge (as it was the only way I could charge it at the time), my laptop saw the Moto, and the Moto said "Charging..." and "Android Debugging...", and thought it was working. I had to run an errand, and when I returned about an hour later, the phone hadn't moved a drop up or down. My laptop was asleep, so I assumed maybe it just stopped charging when my laptop shut off, and I was exhausted myself so I just let it sit on standby all night.
Morning came, and the Moto is dead. I plug it into the wall charger I was just using to charge my v10 with (brand new cord, made for data transferring and charging that I used once before with the old battery), and head to class, hoping it'll charge. Guess what? It didn't charge. Well, it did a little. It went up from 0% to 3%, and sat there. Annoyed, I unplugged and replugged in the phone. It came up with the white battery charging screen, switched to the Nougat "N", vibrated, then went to a black battery charging thing. Once there, the battery icon went up two squares, the screen flashed, and the phone died and stopped charging, then repeated itself a few more times until it went silent.
I started to think maybe my brand new cord was screwing up, so I grabbed another one I had and plugged it into my desktop. I had read on another thread that sometimes you can force the phone to jumpstart charging by plugging in the phone and holding down power + volume down for upwards of two minutes. I tried this, and it charged enough that I could turn the phone on again, but it wouldn't charge enough to do much more. I left it plugged into my desktop for a few hours, not allowing the desktop to fall asleep, and yet the phone was still not rising above 3 or 4% despite the fact that it says that it is charging. Oh, and the phone was on the whole time if it was plugged in, but the moment I unplugged it (Like the one time it got over 5%), it immediately shuts down.
I know I'll probably just have to buy another new battery for the dumb thing, but I am just curious to see if there is anything I can do to fix this, just because I cannot currently afford to buy another new battery (and my friend, who this phone belongs to, is getting impatient on getting it back.)
Thanks for any help!
I have the same problem, charging topping out at 3% with a "new" battery.
Did you change the battery? Did it work?
Thanks for your feedback.
(FYI, this phone is running the stock lollipop firmware.)

Battery

When my battery get 28%... Automatic shutdown and i got 1%... ¿Some solution?
The battery is dead
You have to change the battery.
IMO you are better off buying a new phone. I tried replacing my Moto X battery 2 times, and both new batteries lasted only a few months before starting to randomly shut down again. The first battery was not original and lasted around 1 month before starting to randomly shut down with any battery charge whatsoever, It could shutdown with 99% or 1%. The second battery was original, came with all Motorola seals of approval, and lasted only 5 months, it started to shut down with 30% and ramped up to shut down with 50% or even 70%. I suppose that any battery you buy today was manufactured at least a couple of years ago, so most of them are reasonably aged even tough they didn't went through charge cycles, so It might explain why they tend to fail so quickly.
One advice: if you still plan on changing your battery even after reading this, do not use the Moto Turbo Charger included unless you really need fast charging, try to use a slower charger to try to preserve the battery integrity. Older battery + too much current and too much heat will lead to bigger fail rate. Also, try not to leave the phone charging overnight, trickle charge still isn't good for the battery, and it should be worse for older batteries.
Since my last battery started to fail, I'll be finally buying a new phone. Good luck.
Hello, I changed too the battery, I've successfully installed it in May. Compatible one (Losoncoer).
After only 4 months, I got some problems now. Almost the one described above.
The phone shows over 90% battery level, but it switch off. I try to switch on again and again but it can't boot.
Only if I plug-in with charger/power bank it will switch on, showing the same charge.
I tried also to uncharge the battery, keeping on in the recovery, till 3%.
I then charged the phone switched off about 8 hours.
No solution, switched on at 100%, after 10 minutes it went off.
Could you advise if you have any suggestion?
Could it be the battery? If I boot in recovery, it seems more stable...
Thanks.
