[Q] Verizon/AT&T HD Voice porting - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm loving my Nexus 6 so far on Verizon. The only thing that has me slightly bummed is the lack of browsing and calling at the same time.
So I was wondering if something like the Droid Turbo or a Google Play edition android running 5.0+ (if/when received) could have it's HD Voice support ported? Or even if the AT&T HD Voice support being ported from a lollipop phone would work?
It seems that mostly it has just been software updates that add the "HD voice" option under phone settings. Or is this something that I'll just need to wait for AOSP to support?

[Q] Is it possible to convert an S4 Active into a Nexus device?

It's possible to convert standard Galaxy S4 devices into Nexus devices (plain Google Android OS), so I was wondering if it is possible to convert an S4 Active into a Nexus device as well.
Presuming you mean a stock Android experience, people are working on porting the Google Play edition S4 ROM to the Active on the link below, but in don't think it's ready for the faint hearted yet.

Full featured video editor?

Anyone know of a good video editing app? Looking for an app that can trim, clip, merge, and add music without a watermark.
Paid or free, doesn't matter.
Thanks xda

PowerDirector by developer CyberLink.com is the best option currently and was released for Android this past June. It does need to be purchased and downloaded on a compatible device, but does successfully sideload and run on the Moto X. Although I would recommend using a tablet to maximize space. It's as serious as it gets for video editing on a mobile device. It's no Adobe Premiere or AVID obviously, but it's the best there is on Android. Definitely worth a try for serious mobile video editing. Hope this helps.

Full Android Mirroring

Is this new in 4.4.3 or have I just never noticed you can mirror to Chromecast now?
Performs way better than mirracast on my Nexus 4.
Where or how did you come across this....with what device etc....I don't have answers but curious

The button has been showing up on and off for me for a while, but I've noticed with 4.4.3. it says Beta. I tried to click it, but it failed to do anything for me. Is it actually working to mirror the device now?

Also will be good if it's on every device not just Nexus

Is your Chromecast stock, or running Eureka-ROM?
I've got a Stock Nexus 4 with the 4.4.3 OTA
I have 2 chromecast, one UK stock and one US Eureka, works on both.
Yeah it works fine i just pull down quick settings, cast screen, and the chromecast show in there as beta next to the miracast adapter I have.

Hahaha, you took a photo with the device you're mirroring with. That's fantastic.
I hope I can finally do mirroring on my SGS3 when it gets 4.4.3!!!
I also see the option but when I try to connect, it says "casting to Chromecast failed ". I wonder if having a rooted device may prevent casting from working. I'm also using a stock but rooted Nexus 4 4.4.3.

If your CCast isn't rooted and running Eureka then Mirroring will fail...
Only ones I know of that can do it without Eureka installed on CCast are those in Spain where the Mirror app is whitelisted.
If the other poster is correct it may also be whitelisted for UK models.

Hi thanks alot for that, Is your nexus rooted?
What I want to know is,
Do you need a nexus
Or is it GENRAL 4.4.3 devices?
Thanks ! Would be great if it was the latter GENRAL 4.4.3 device :d
Sorry I should have seen this post first but I didn't and posted about my Nexus 5 and the 4.3.3 update. I can mirror using my rooted US Chromecast with Eureka-ROM. No sound when running video.
Did there Havey lag or not

I've got the same setup N5 (stock rooter) and CC (US rooted). The screen casting was there before 4.4.3, it's pretty smooth but the lack of sound is the real kicker. Great for sharing photos.
N4 on 4.4.3 and stock CC (usa) - mirror fails.
Its incredibly ironic to me that Google made JB Miracast compatible but haven't added support for native mirroring in Android. What's more I dont hear any major tech sources talking about it. Last news was that as of 4.3 Google was going to add support for Chromecast mirroring "soon". Its been half a year and doesn't seem to really be a priority for Google. I hope they focus their efforts on this feature for the next major release.
I don't think it's about Android version, but google play services.
Middle East has nothing
Strangely, I got the 4.4.3 update a couple of days ago, but the screen cast option does not show my chrome cast in the list of available devices. It appeared there once, with (beta) in brackets, but never after that - nor does it appear in quick settings.
Stock N5, rooted.
^^^
screen cast needs to be 'triggered' with a chromecast compatible app first. then your CC will show up (and fail to connect) as a screen casting device.
I believe in order to fully sort out how this works (may be same as before), please post
Android Version on the device FROM which you are streaming, whether or not your chromecast is running Eureka ROM, what region your Chromecast is from, and wether streaming has worked for you before.

Video call over 3G?

I know this phone has no capability for carrier supported video call. But is it hardware or software limited? If it's software, any kernel, baseband or ROM mod could enable this?
(I'm talking about the native 3G carrier video call feature, not the one using mobile data like Skype, Tango, etc. It used to be supported by those old Nokia phones, and are still supported by some Android phones such as Samsung and LG)
I need 3G carrier video call
Yes, I liked that too.
Itching in some early beta on CM12 or earlier it was possible as beta.

Has anyone used the Cast Screen option on Moto G 2nd Gen ?

As the title says -- Has anyone used the "Cast Screen" option that appears on the pull down menu on his Moto G 2nd Gen with:
1. Chromecast
2. Any other casting dongle (Ezcast etc.)
Do these work on fully stock Android 5.0.2 Lollipop ?
In my case :No. But I´m not on stock rom.
Works fine even on a 4K Samsung Smart TV

Once on stock rom and it disabled WiFi so its pretty much useless to what I was gonna use it for. At least that's the case when I hook it up to my Xbox One. After that first time the option to enable wireless display in the cast screen settings is gone and no where to be found. Oh well.

I've tried it. Was full of lag... But could have been my ezcast pro itself or my WiFi. In contrast my oneplus one is almost lag free.

haven't any tv or so, am on stock rom but haven't got chance to use cast feature.
