I know this phone has no capability for carrier supported video call. But is it hardware or software limited? If it's software, any kernel, baseband or ROM mod could enable this?
(I'm talking about the native 3G carrier video call feature, not the one using mobile data like Skype, Tango, etc. It used to be supported by those old Nokia phones, and are still supported by some Android phones such as Samsung and LG)
I need 3G carrier video call
Yes, I liked that too.
Itching in some early beta on CM12 or earlier it was possible as beta.

I have qik, which worked on mytouch 4g, but haven't tried it on my nexus s yet. I see no reason why it shouldn't work there as well. Bambuser is also good.

Qik is your best bet, supports online streaming built in, but it's not updated for front camera yet.
yeah there is literally no way right now till yahoo etc support ns.
I have a Tmobile gtab, my parents have a VZW gtab. I have the qik video chat application on mine. My parents do not. I thought it would be as simple as going onto market and getting it, but its not there for them. Any reason why? There is a qik app, but it s video app, not a video chat app.
Is qik a Tmobile only application?
Qik Video
If I'm wrong about this, someone please correct me. But, I was told by a friend that it has something to do with being CDMA vs. GSM. Qik will not do video over CDMA, so they keep it off the Market.
I have a Sprint Tab and I can't do video with Qik. But, I would suggest iMovicha considering it is one of the few that had both an Android and PC version that can chat between the two.
Hope this helps!
I would suggest oovoo it's also cross-platform.

When I try to make a video call I am getting the following error.
“Cannot support VT call, connect to voice call“
Both 3g and data are enabled and I have disabled wifi.
LG Optimus 2X
Stock 2.2.2

Anyone has a solution for this.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think video call is only available in gingerbread. Btw you can use the new skype which has video phone option and you can call not skype users too.

Oh, I thought we needed gb to make google video call. I cannot make video calls through skype as the O2X has a tegra 2 processor and no one has been able to get a working skype apk for this.

VTok allows you to video chat through Google Talk. Fring works for the Droid 3 as well.
My wife and I use Tango between her iPhone 4 and my Droid 3. Quality is mediocre, but it works.

I got tango. It works, but as you said the quality is a little lacking. No worries, though. I really only need it when my husband is out of town. Thanks!

Fring seems to be the best one so far for me. 3g is medicore at best, but works slightly better on wifi
video chat with paltalk mobile
You can try paltalk mobile. visit paltalk.com from your mobile browser and it should direct you to the android download page, or you can get it from the android market by searching for paltalk.
DISCLAIMER: I work for them so please don't get mad, the video is a subscription service, although we are adding 'super IM' soon wihch will allow for up to 10 users in your video chat for free. The subscription service is for the open chat rooms and costs 60 bucks a year.
We are in testing now so it may be a bit buggy, but it does allow for multiple videos at once in open groups. Stay tuned for the super IM release which as I said earlier will have free video for private conversations.
Warning! - paltalk does have 'adult' activity in some chat rooms so this is not an app for kids or anyone under the age of 18. It's not a smut site, but there is an adult category (one of many many categories)
I have a droid 3 and on my 3g connection the video is FAST!
To be honest this app was developed for our current users and subscribers, but if you are seeking a pretty amazing video chat app that is still a bit early in development you may want to give it a try.
You do NOT have to pay anything if you don't want to.
I'm loving my Nexus 6 so far on Verizon. The only thing that has me slightly bummed is the lack of browsing and calling at the same time.
So I was wondering if something like the Droid Turbo or a Google Play edition android running 5.0+ (if/when received) could have it's HD Voice support ported? Or even if the AT&T HD Voice support being ported from a lollipop phone would work?
It seems that mostly it has just been software updates that add the "HD voice" option under phone settings. Or is this something that I'll just need to wait for AOSP to support?
