I have a Nexus 6 64GB running Android 5.0.1 (LRX22C) - I have a problem where I will get disconnected from Wifi - or sometimes when getting to home / work when it tries to join the network it will say there is an "authentication problem". If I go into the Wifi settings and connect again it always works.
I also have a Nexus 5 using Android 5.0.1 and don't have this problem - anyone else having this problem / know of a fix for Nexus 6?
Thanks!
I only see this just after finishing a Titanium Backup.
rooted/decrypted 64GB...running lots of ROMs.

After restoring from a Titanium Backup? I haven't restored from a Titanium Backup. I do run backups using Titanium Backup.
I tried doing a factory reset, but that didn't help.
I am rooted, decrypted, but not running a ROM (stock 5.0.1) - I did need to fastboot flash the 5.0.1 image to get from 5.0 to 5.0.1. The problem existed in 5.0 for me as well - but upgrading to 5.0.1 did not fix it. I ran the factory reset after upgrading to 5.0.1 didn't fix the problem - and it didn't help.
I do let Google restore my apps from their cloud backup when I sign in during the initial setup.
I've experienced the same issues on my nexus 5 for weeks now since the update to lollipop, I have tracked it to the scheduled nightly titanium backup that i run on my device. Previously wifi has failed nightly on my device.
To prove this then while connected to home wifi perform a manual backup through tb of the yellow (xml) system->Wifi access points and you'll watch you'll WiFi drop and then fail with the authentication error as the backup competes.
This obviously needs reporting to tb devs not Google, as I've done previously.
I plan to use a tasker script to restart wifi following the nightly tb back up and then separately sync the backup to Google using an additional tb scheduled task.
Thanks! I realize now what Skripka was trying to say with his post. This is definitely part of the problem - I'm not sure if this is entirely the problem as I see the "Authentication problem" when a Titanium Backup is not running. For example when I get to work, I will notice I am not connected to Wifi and when I look at the Wifi settings I see the "Authentication problem" - but when I try to reconnect it connects immediately. The same has happened when I arrive home.
I did submit a support ticket for Titanium Backup to see if they can fix the problem on their end.

You're completely right the issue is described here
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=81896
Looks an android OS issue which can be triggered by tb, although that post provides a work around for tb backups to avoid this issue

Thanks again - hopefully they fix this soon. I upvoted the Google Issue and reported that I am having the problem on my Nexus 6 as well.
In the meantime, I excluded the wifi profiles from my scheduled Titanium Backup so that will help a little bit at least.
This still happening to me
Rooted, unencrypted, stock Rom, running latest Franco kernel.
I only TB backup weekly.
Has the WiFi automatic connection failure been directly linked to TB or is there another thread with more recent findings?
Thanks and apologies if this is not the proper etiquette.

After excluding the wifi settings from being backed up by TB, I stopped having the problem. Upgraded to 5.1 since then (flashing 5.1.1 right now) and haven't seen any wifi issues since on my N6.

Hi All,
I got the above error when trying to perform market update for following applications:
1) Fring
2) N1 Torch Light
However, I still have 55% left for my internal memory and 58% for my SD memory. The strange thing is I still can download and install new apps.
My phone is rooted with latest CyanogenMod installed. I think the problem only started today after I had done the below:
1) Download a "build.prop" and push to my phone
2) This item claims to improve the HSDPA speed
3) After installed and tested no different
4) Then I extracted the "build.prop" from Cyanogen zip file and push back to my phone
I'm not sure whether this problem is related to the above but my other function is working fine. I even tried to reboot my phone and still same problem :-(
Same problem here on both bakedgoods 1.1 and desire a16 just started happening today. Same apps as well.

Same issue happened to me. Solved it by uninstalling both fring and n1 torch and then installing the new version... Works after that...

Yours also happened to Fring and N1 torch? I just wonder will it happen to others apps as well (which needed to update too) and I don't think is a good idea to always need uninstall and install again
happening on 5.0.4.1 with torch. for kicks I uninstalled another app and tried to update torch again. no luck.
completely uninstalling torch and then installing the new version solved my problem.
There was no way I was out of space seeing as I have a 2gb partition on my sd card for apps

2gb?? Damn, man. Well, that's a definitive indication you're in NO WAY out of space (I hope). I've run into this problem too. An uninstall/reinstall always fixes it for me, as well. But the other day it happened with RDC by xtralogic. Now, that's no N1 Torch in terms of setup, so I just backed-up the currently installed (old) version via Titanium...then: Market>RDC>Uninstall>Reinstall>Titanium>Restore>RemoteDesktop>Data Only
Worked like a charm.
Mine just started doing this with Nimbuzz and Smart Keyboard Pro...
All I did was install a fresh CM 5.0.5.1 (Full wipe) and then did a Tittanium app backup..
EDIT Unistall / reinstall and all is fine...
Turn on the app2sd from the 'Settings - applications - apps2sd'

Yeah I got the error and for kicks, increased my partition from 512->2gb and still got the error
That error is misleading, it happens or certain apps only.
To update: uninstall and then install those apps.
Has anyone found a fix that doesn't require uninstalling and reinstalling the app? For the most part, that works fine, but for one of my games, I lose all my progress if I do this. I've tried backing the game up via Titanium backup, uninstalling, installing the new version, then restoring data only from Titanium, but that just seems to make the new version crash back to Launcher every time I try to start it. Starts just fine if I don't restore the data, but then I lose all my progress.
The game actually runs fine for me on the version I have installed, so I don't really need to update, but it gets a little old having the market constantly telling me that I should update it.

Back it up with titanium back up. Uninstall it. Reinstall from Market. Then use Titanium Backup to restore data only for that app.
Happening with the latest shake them all. Sadly, the 30 seconds I spent setting it up has to be repeated

As mentioned, I've tried that. For some reason, restoring the data from the previous version causes the new version to crash on start up every time.
This thread really helped me. Do we know if Google is looking into this problem/bug?
Turn on the app2sd from the 'Settings - applications - apps2sd'
I try it and now i can install App from Market. Thank you.

The same usually works for me
I tend to get this problem after doing a app restore using Titanium
Not quite sure what specifically does it though!
I tried doing a logcat when getting this message but tbh I wasn't sure what I was looking for! :S
So I am running the GingerVolt ROM for my LG Revolution, and im getting so annoyed at the dam Verizon update crap, it keeps forcing download and booting me into clockwork mod recovery, how can I disable it?
I used Titanium Backup to freeze the 'software update 1.0' process. Some people have reported that breaks bluetooth though. I don't use bluetooth so I can't confirm that.

A few more people from this similar thread back up that advice. They don't seem to report any problems. For my own personal opinion, I would also recommend using Titanium Backup to freeze that process. I can't test it at the moment since I was not lucky enough to catch my phone before it updated.
Hey all, i haven't found a thread about this yet:
Will TiBu restore apps/data from a 4.4.4 ROM (OnePlus One CM11 Stock) correctly on 5.0?
There are really only a few apps i'm concerned with but i'd love to also know if TiBu will restore my SMS's as well coming from 4.4.4
Thanks all!
Yes to both of your questions. Just have the updated titanium backup from the play store and then you're set.

TiBu isn't working for me. When I try to backup I immediately get the "insufficient storage" error. My sdcard shows up fine and I have at least 10GB of storage left, anyone know what the problem could be?
Works for me, did you change the backup location?

Nope. Ran it without changing anything from default and still the same problem
Hi all, I'm having the classic issue of Titanium Backup getting hung up at 0% when restoring on the N dev preview. I flashed supersu beta 2.71 and have busy box installed. I also have allowed installation from unknown sources, have enabled USB debugging, and disabled mount namespace separation in supersu. I'm all out of ideas and I really need to restore this foshiz. Any help would be appreciated. (This is a nexus 6 of course).
I've never like titanium backup with my Nexus 6. Always had problems. My g2, droid, Gnex, etc all loved it.
Anyways, my guess is either selinux (check and set for permissive), or titanium just isn't compatible with Android N currently (highly likely as android N is just a preview to let developers see what they're working with)
I'm not on N but when I switched from L to M I got the same problem.
What always worked for me was using the update.zip method.
You create it in TitaniumBackup out of your saved apps + data and flash it after you're on N via TWRP.
TB can have problems installing some apps, and get stuck, but if you install that app from Play, it will continue. I recommend you let Google install the apps, then use TB to install data.

The same issue, but with Marshmallow and Samsung s7 edge..

Yes it works, thanks to Aroma you can even flash it, disable all the extras that you don't want and TBU will work.
People post about issues yet leave out any sort of log that will tell what the issue is. This is one of the biggest issues developers have with users. This is why most developers will not reply to issues and almost never come in the Q&A section
If you are gonna post about issues then make sure to do your homework first. Get logs and post them. Try to figure it out for yourself before asking for help. This is not a support forum.

You might wanna try changing "app processing mode" in preferences, indirect method may help and interactive will install apps using the standard installer if all else fails.
On a related note I'd highly recommend backup+ I've started using it for specifically backups between roms and it worked for me perfectly on N. The app was built with the SELinux changes in mind as one of the first apps to work with restoring apps on Lollipop and I'd guess it has a bit to do with it working for Marshmallow and N w/o needing updates during the previews. It probably won't replace TiBup if you use it for stuff like freezing apps and whatnot. (It is capable of doing system apps, wifi, SMS, and phone logs though it's a separate in-app purchase totaling 2.61USD).

Glad I could help!
I have the phone now exactly 3 h and must first get used to this Xiaomi world. I reinstalled my apex launcher and wanted to recover the data from a backup (memory access is set). I get the message that this action can not be performed. If I want to do a backup, the same message comes up. Why is that (with normal roms from the normal Google world, I never had problems).

I've had this problem for at least a year now and nothing I've tried worked to fix this. It's ridiculous.
Did anyone find the reason for this yet - Im still having this issue?

Nothing yet, in the same boat
I have the same problem on Galaxy a22 Android 11: no possibility to backup and impossible to restore from previous setting (from another Galaxy). The message is "the action cannot be completed". it's really frustrating and i haven't found any solution on the net and although this bug is also reported on google play, there is no update to fix it. Really a pity!
Edit: Even installing older versions or even Apex Launcher Classic does not solve the problem. Therefore, it is an Android 11 problem! Perhaps, a problem of permissions, even more than compatibility .. but one should understand which permissions! I don't know if on any device with 11 ..
OP was from 2019 and this issue still seems to be happening. I just got an S22 Ultra and can't create a backup nor restore. As @liberalinea mentioned, issue with permissions or compatibility. Has anyone been lucky/smart enough to figure out a fix yet??
Same issue with my pixel 6pro running 12. Did not have this issue with my Ulefone running 10
Have similar issue on Android 9 and 10. Restore does not restore any links but links to apps which are currently installed. Not via Apex GUI, nor via Titanium or other backup apps. Manual copy of app data folder (root) does not restore better neither. Restore functions fine with Classic, but since Android 9 only shortcuts to installed apps are possible, no URL or files and folders. :-( Have written several times to the developper, but no response :-(
Any hint will be much appreciated.
