MeMo pad me70c - what's compatible across models and any custom recovery? - MeMO Pad 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got this and was wondering what other models stuff ,if any, is compatible with this version and if there is any custom recovery out there for this one. Everything I have been finding is for the HD7. Any help would be appreciated!

I wanted to follow up on this as well, I just got this same Tablet for a really nice price, and honestly hate all the bloatware ASUS has installed on this Tablet, it really does slow down the performance. Aditionally, are there any nice ROMs out there performance wise? I am just looking to use this for basic tasks and social media stuff as a college student.

Bumping so i can enjoy my xmas present with a better performance

Curious BlackBerry User

Hey Guys,
I'm a long time blackberry user and I've gone through at least a half dozen over the years.
I'm currently using the Blackberry Bold 9900, which I suppose is the current flagship model.
I bought the Playbook tablet long ago, unfortunately even after the '2.0 update' it's basically a paperweight and almost useless. In my frustration I bought a kindle fire, and was very impressed. There's a very active dev community, and in no time I had it rooted and was testing out different mods and kernels. Lots of fun.
This got me thinking about getting a more competent android device, the fire is good but I'd be interested to see what a serious device could do. I've been waiting forever to get a tablet with a decent digitizer/stylus and was immediately interested by the Galaxy Note (and later the Galaxy Note 10.1).
I've been seriously considering getting the Galaxy Note as a second phone and giving it a go. However, I still don't understand why I would want or need such a large and powerful device.
Typing on a touchscreen is pretty terrible. Yeah everyone says you get used to it, but I could bang out 50wpm in the dark with my hands behind my back on my blackberry.
I had the iPhone 3GS and I hated it so much I threw it out of the window on the highway. What a nightmare.
Secondly, I only ever use my bb to: email, bbm, twitter, and occasionally make calls.
So I suppose my question is.. Other than the fun that is hacking up the phone/tablet and customizing it. What's the point? Why does one need a device like this? What do you do with it to justify having it? What apps do you need/use on a daily basis that need two cores and a HD screen?
As a consumer, I want one. But as a rational person I don't know what I would use it for. I only use my kindle fire to play crappy time killer games on the treadmill. What's the point?
Thanks for your time.
Android has the ability to customize everything to such an extent that basic, you made the phone. That's what everyone loves about it. You can the look, feel, and functionality all to your liking.
Also, you have the option of the three main android version which are: Stock (can be seen on the galaxy nexus) HTC Sense (can be seen on all HTC phones) and MIUI (a custom rom that extends the customization ability even further with has themes for EVERY aspect e.x. The dialer, messaging app, notification bar, lock screen, etc)
You should go your local bestbuy and play with the phones. Android is a great experience.
In reference to your apps that you like, there are many email and twitter apps, all with different levels of functionality, and being that you're social, you'll enjoy widgets that allow you to send a tweet quickly, right from your home screen. When you finally leave BBM, you'll realize that it's not so important. There is an app called Talk, it's just like BBM, only for android. Texting is also just as good.
I hope I helped in your decision and enlightened your image of Android.
Good luck!
I asked myself these very same questions before purchasing a true smartphone, and sadly it turns out to be a life eater. You can do almost anything on the phone. I use mine mainly for music, news reading, and playing games. But everyone always finds different things useful in their phone. I can almost guarantee you won't regret getting the Note. That is if you can deal with that massively beautiful screen.
Thank you kindly for the responses KayxGee1 and JustinUhhh.
I think I will take the leap, and try it out for at least one month.
I went from BB OS to Android and could not be happier. Give it a try, the positives will likely outweigh any negatives for you.
It all depends on what you do. If you want to be able to play high end games, be able to have the latest software for a good while and be able to keep up with the rest for another year then you should get the note. If none of the above matter then any simple android device should do.
$1 gets you a reply
Overall Android just gives you an experience that is designed for you, couldn't be happier with it.
Honestly I see Blackberrys at the end of the smart phone train. I love Android cause it is sleek and fun to use!
Android can be a portable office, a portable arcade, or a portable jukebox. For geeks the customizability is an attraction in itself. If you travel a lot you really can't beat it as a mobile commumication center. It's really whatever you make of it.
Made the jump, and one week later.. It's going great! The xda community is fantastic, and the hardware is unreal. Cheers guys!

Miui isn't a main Android version. But touchwiz on Samsung phones and motoblur on Motorola phones is.
- this sig is just so I don't have to write 10char when on my phone -
Here we have:
- MotoBlur
- Sense
- Xperia
- LG UI
- TouchWiz
- Tap n' Tap UI
- Google Nexus AOSP Devices (Android)
That's all I remember now

Name the top 3 reasons you like Android over Apple!

The title says it all! Name the top 3 reasons you like Android over Apple! Only 3 and "Everything" is not an answer! And if your answer is that you prefer Apple, leave and don't come back!! Lol, jk.......... No but seriously, GET OUT!! :what:
Here is mine:
1)Widgets
2)Bigger, better screens
3)SD cards
Honorable Mention: Swype typing on keyboards. But apple is now allowing that so it doesn't count.
What do you think?

#1 It's not from Apple!
No seriously I really agree with you. I never really used iPhone, but I once tried to help a friend having problems with his iPhone 3G so here is a short story about it:
Neither Facebook nor Whatsapp were working on his phone. The both apps that was the main reason for him to get a smartphone. He received it as a gift and was happy first but should later learn why it was a gift. The thing is iPhone changed the cpu structure or something on later models and released a new OS for that. Of course this new OS doesn't work on his phone. Following the new OS both Facebook and Whatsapp released new versions of their app which also wouldn't work on his old OS. We searched and found older working versions of the apps installed them and they started up with something like "There is a new version available. Please update before continuing.". Then we tried the existing iOS cracks which promised to solve such problems. And on them we could successfully install Facebook and get it working. We installed Whatsapp and on the phone verification it told us that the servers are not activating such old versions anymore... And we also couldn't restore the backed up contacts, sms etc. for some reason.
It was such a mess. In the end he reinstalled standard iOS for his phone to restore the backup and now suffers from this creepy, subjecting creation of hell.
I really never would use such a restrictive system nor pay money for it. I rather would change back to my Nokia 2600. :cyclops:
Custom roms +1
Better apps/market
Better hardware
Number one reason.... XDA developers. Com
- Customizable. (I can make it look the way I want, not the way Apple makes it look for millions of people.)
- Freedom.
- XDA.
And the hardware is much, much better.
Custom themes, ROMs, kernels...

Vocaloid fan? Check out this thread!
1. Custom roms.
2. Less expensive than iPhone.
3. I think Android fans are nicer than iPhone fans.
1. Not overpriced (most times)
2. Huge variety in apps
3. Huge customiztation
1. Freedom
2. Happiness
3. Progressive
1. There's no choice if you are even a wee bit tech savvy.
2. Looks. Putting a flagship android device with a big screen next to an iPhone is just funny.
3. Cydia was a pain even when it worked good.

Recommendations for a ROM/MOD for IT Work

Phone: Samsung T-Mobile Note 4
Version: N910TUVU1COG2
Okay guys, here's what I need... (by no way shape or form should this become a hate-fest or trolling, please)... I had to replace my Google Nexus 6 (total hardware meltdown) with a Note 4. Now I'm not a stranger to the Note, I had a Note 2 a few years back and LOVED it.
The only issue I have is the overall performance of the Lollipop shell on the stock firmware/software and I need to find something that will still allow me to use the S-Pen for my document editing and productivity, and the most out of the hardware that I can muster out of this phone.
I am not new to flashing ROMs or Kernels (although it has been a while) - I am also open to AOSP and TW type of ROMs. I just need to know what is going to get the best performance, efficient power usage (aka - battery preservation), flexibility for IT apps (Citrix, VMware, etc) and overall visual configurability than what normally comes out of the box.
I'm honestly looking for some objective discussion here- this is not meant to be a competition or a verbal brawl - I'm looking for some answers from some experts in the field. I have been looking in these forums for answers for over 5 years (since my first Android phone - The Droid) and am looking for some intelligent and open feedback.
Thank you for taking the time to read - I know the post is a bit long - and I look forward to some of the responses. Have a great day guys and gals!
Sounds like you should give poprocks a try.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3096286
Mega just dropped a new release. He's been with us from the beginning and is all about efficiency, etc.
It's a tw rom.
Have had good experiences with Poprocks and CM12. If you go the AOSP rout check out sPenCommander on Google+ to get some of the sPen features working.

Worth the upgrade?

Just curious to know if its worth coming to the TF701T, from the 101. I know its not a very new device but the specs still look good to me having looked at some newer transformer devices they dont seem quite upto the job (a little underpowered). Love the versatility of my TF101 but its getting pretty tired recently so would you guys recommend it or something else thats not been around as long. look forward to your advice, cheers.

I upgraded from the 101 to this too and overall the experience is fine. Like most things in life it's not perfect but overall I'd recommend.
There are some threads on here mentioning hardware issues with dock, etc but I've had none of that
The main downside for me on the 701 is the lack of development for it or activity on the forum at all - if it's wasn't for Sdbags on here (with a few more people now) we'd all be stuck on stock.
Anythinkg else feel free to shout
Totally agreed with gav2fc . I had a tf 101 and was very happy with it. So, I bought tf701 when it came out. Never regret! But, I wished more developers could help to get more ROM.

Hey guys I was also wondering about getting this. I've watched a review of the tf701t and a rooting and unlocking bl tutorials etc... So I'm wondering if I should get something like this because the only other 10.1 inch tab I have is the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 which is great but I don't like the physical buttons or the design of it even though I use the virtual keys in cm12.1. I know the specs on the tf701t are good but I guess (heard) they are not good for gaming which isn't a problem for me because when I want to game I play on a console or a pc. So what do you guys think? I really like the design, bezels, keyboard, on screen keys and everything else about it and I haven't really heard about any issues with it like previous models. So what do you guys think about it? I'll take anything bad or good. Is there any other tablet that came out more recently like this one (doesn't have to be Asus) that has a 10.1 inch screen and CUSTOM ROMs minus the keyboard that I wouldn't be forced to buy from Amazon maybe? (If I couldn't install custom roms on this tablet I would be mad THANKS!

Hi, I'm a tinkerer.

Hi, I'm just a tinkerer. I like systems and retro games. I also like to bring old machines back to life. So, I'm currently trying to put a new opsys on my Samsung sm-t350 tablet. It's still a good tablet. I was considering Linux Mint, but that just might be a gimmick. Finding this site is pretty incredible actually. Thanks for your work.
Welcome to the xda family.
Cheers.
