[Q] Headphone Jack Issues - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. I've been having issues lately with my headphone jack. Music plays for a short while and then suddenly and for no apparent reason stops. Will resume if I click the button on my headphone though. It's happening with 3 different pairs of headphones I own, SOL Republic Tracks, SOL Republic Jax, and Urbanears.. Anyone else having issues? Is it fixable under warranty? I have to have my phone repaired anyway as the screen got cracked.

Phonespeaker dead, headphone works HELP

I tried multiple rom updates ( downgraded, upgraded ) and I cant get my speaker to work again after it suddenly stopped working today after listening to winamp.
Headphones work fine. I didnt hit, slam or throw it down so I really have no clue what this problem is... anyone have an idea ?
Most likely (I'm willing to bet) that your headphone jack is broken and thinks you still have your headphone inserted (Muting all noise on the phone's speaker). Try playing with the headphone jack by inserting and removing your headphone a couple of times. Some people had luck with that, I read one here recently someone cleaned their headphone port by blowing air in there and their phone speaker worked again. Good luck.
i had same thing happen to me today. yes, wiggle the headphone jack and you'll get your speaker back.
back to-resoldering the headphone jack (it's the 3rd time it becomes loose).
i've said this before -- the build/material quality of blueangel SUCKS.

No Sound Out of Earpiece

I've tried searching the forums and can't seem to find anything about the earpiece on the nexus one. I current can't hear anything from the earpiece. Speaker phone and bluetooth headsets work, but the handset earpiece doesn't work. Does anyone know what could be causing this and more importantly a way to fix this without sending it in? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well I figured out what was causing the problem. I was listening to music through the earbuds and instead of stopping the music then pulling out the earbuds I just pulled them out. This was causing all the sound to either go through the speaker or the headphone jack. I plugged the headset in and stopped the music, then unplugged them and everything is working well.

[Q] Audio Speaker Problems?

Hey guys, over the past couple days, it seems my phone has lost some audio abilities, what's weird is that some audio STILL works, here we go:
- Notifications (Text and email) *WORK*
- Music Player/Youtube Videos/Phone Calls(inside the call, and ringing) *DO NOT WORK*
- Phone Calls in SPEAKER mode *WORK*
Here's what I've tried:
- Flashing to stock via Odin (Did a flash, didn't master clear.)
- Reflashing Serendipity 6.3 (What I was using before, should I maybe try a different ROM? It's an i897 ROM.)
- "Pressing" on the speaker, as I heard some have connection problems, but this is almost a year after owning the phone.
- Different audio apps (Stock music app, and PowerAMP)
Any ideas?
Bump. REALLY need help.. Trying a format/reflash now...
so the ear speaker isnt working but the Loud speaker does?
the "press on it" trick is for the loud speaker on the back..
sounds like a hardware problem. there is a REALLY EASY FIX. call samsung and get it replaced. flash to stock before you send it in.
I bought it from ebay, new in box. The chances of Samsung accepting my phone for a refurb is nonexistent, isn't it?
Being without a phone isn't an easy fix for me. =P
Bump. Solution found.
It was actually my headphone jack failing. I pushed in my headphones, played some music and noticed the button on the samsung headphones wasn't working, I took the jack out, blew into it, and now the headphones no longer work, but audio is coming through the speakers again.
Fixed my problem, although it wasn't the fix I wanted, since I use my phone for all my music, constantly.
I had the same problem. Turned out to be lint from my pocket in the headphone jack. If you have lint, get a needle, take pliers and bend a small hook in the sharp end. Pull out the lint that got jammed in with your headphones. I posted this fix a while ago in the SamsungCaptivateForum.com. I thought I was the only one who had the problem.
You know, that makes a lot of sense. I took a can of air spray this afternoon and let the headphone jack have it, and now it seems fixed. I think it might have been dirt from work. (Damn you, construction!)
Nice!
Thanks for the tips, I was having the same speaker issue and this certainly helped me out. My music player would cut in and out randomly if had it playing on the loud speaker.
How bout a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones instead of relying on headphone jack? I have motorola motorokr s305. I got em off ebay for $30 and they work pretty good.

Headphone Jack issues

Hi There everyone,
Well i just got my XPERIA Z1 yesterday and i had spilt water on it. All the flaps were closed and i had dried it all off. Afterwards (1 and a half hours later) i decided to listen to some music but the problem was that as soon as i inserted my headphones into the jack it would not play any sound from the headphone itself, it would only play the sound from the phone's speakers. The headphones were working perfectly normal in the morning when i was using the phone before i spilt the water. I assumed that the headphone jack had not fully dried so i left it for about 3-4 hours and now as soon as i plugged in my headphones the same problem came. I tried the original sony headphones that came in the box and there is a strange static/buzzy coming from the headphone and yet the sound would slightly play from the phones speakers. I do not know what to do and this is not exactly what i expected from a waterproof phone.
THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN DONE: I have updated my phones software to the latest, i have tried switching it off and on again and tried using both sony headphones including the original one.
If anybody comes up with a solution to this i would be extremely grateful.

get a q-tip or earbud and clean and make sure the inside of the headphone jack is completly clean and dry.
I highly doubt it would have not dried after so many hours, i live in a hot country and i just came from outside and i tried again, and yet i am still facing problems.
can anybody please help? Am i the only one who is experiencing this???
this has been discussed many times, it seems to be a software fault possibly due to smart connect, unless you indeed have a defective unit. try turning on and off smart connect and the profiles associated with your headphones, that did it for me.
hi i put some water on my z1 and the headphone jack is no longer working as the headphones are not getting detected, any sound comes through the speakers and not the heaphones. can anybody hep?

Sounds like a defective unit (i.e. water seeps into the headphone jack).

Firstly, ensure that the Event(s) are turned on in Smart Connect.
Secondly, it could possibly be because of your defective jack that the phone is unable to detect your headphone being plugged in, and that's why the Event is not triggered.

I have hardware problem (i think). Tried changing firmware, cleaning jack etc...still not working. So the question is: if the water really damaged jack, can replacing it fix the problem?

Headphone Jack Dead?

Hi Everyone,
I've owned my XT1064 for a little over a year, and it's been serving me well for this whole time. Today, on the bus, my audio randomly cut when I was listening to music through my headphones and the sound stopped. I noticed that the music had been paused so I hit play and the sound started playing through my speakers. I was really surprised because my headphones were still plugged in. Now, I have to put my headphones in at a weird angle or not all the way to get any sound, and even then the sound is very bad. I looked up the issue and I saw it was a problem with many other Motorola devices. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this can be fixed? I really depend on my headphones to listen to music and watch movies without disturbing others. Thanks!
It's a common problem because the jack is placed in the center of the phone.
The jack in my 2 year old XT1068 died after one year too. I use a bluetooth headphone to enjoy the music since the jack had this defect.
They aren't too expensive anymore
