Have 3 invites for OnePlus if anyone wants to switch - Nexus 5 General

64GB version

LOL

Completely lost interest in that phone

I had one, it's most definitely not all it was promised to be. I sold mine after 2 days.

Lol I did the opposite- I bought an N5 with the money I got from selling the OPO (I made $100 on the sale) and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. It's the second N5 I've owned, sold my first one when I bought the original Moto X. The OPO is not a bad phone by any means, it just wasn't the amazing flagship killer I was expecting. I found the build quality to be lacking, there were way too many bugs in the software when I had it, and I just didn't like the design in general. Not to mention that OnePlus is a horrible company, and I refuse to support a company that treats its customers the way they do.

Can you give me one please.... Need to buy one for my sis

too late to refuse to support the company if you already bought the phone from them...
I dont have any bugs, just a minor issue with "profiles" which I haven't even tried to troubleshoot. Built quality surpassed my expectations too. Both N5 and OPO are decent phones though. OPO has lots of positives over N5, I am just wondering if they will keep the promise and update it to L in time.

It is too late I suppose lol. And from what I've read, most of the bugs I experienced have been fixed. I had mine back in July so there have been quite a few updates since then. Don't get me wrong, it's a good phone, it just wasn't for me. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

Does the bargain price of the Nexus 4 make it less exclusive??

I was talking to one of my buddies here at work who is also an Android Freak like myself and we were discussing about how Google and LG can sell such a device packing what it does for $299 or $349.
It's seems like it has really beautiful build quality also, while Samsung sells a plastic dual core S3 with half the RAM, lower resolution screen for double the price!
Don't get me wrong, I am both happy and sad that the phone is so damn cheap. Glad because it is so dirt cheap that I can buy it as a backup phone to my Note 2 and just not worry about it falling and breaking or whatever. Replacing just the LCD on my Note 2 would probably pay for the whole Nexus 4!
Sad because since it is so cheap, it almost gives me the impression that it's some kind of gophone, pay as you go device. You know, a disposable phone. Something any 13 year old who mows lawns on the weekends can afford. Also judging by the comments and anticipation in this forum, those are most likely the majority of buyers. 13 year old geeks. =)
To me the device lost something special, exclusivity.
When I first picked up my Note 2, everybody at work was in awe and were ready to go purchase one immediately.
Then I told them how much I paid, $690 off contract and they all had sticker shock. Only one other fella at my work has a Note 2 besides me now, and that's my boss. The device feels special to me.
I know this post seems a bit ridiculous, but that's something that is bugging me a little about the device. What do you guys think? A little something inside kinda wish Google priced this device similar to the Galaxy Nexus. I think it would have been more special to me. Am I crazy?

Just because people are excited, you're assuming they're 13? Right...
... and imo, the price does not make it any less exclusive.
You could always buy two and strap them back-to-back for that "cachet" feel?
In any case, mainstream smartphones, like all technology, will always be getting less exclusive. If exclusivity is of import, the Tag Heuer Android phones look quite sharp, but probably will be behind on the OS curve...
Setting aside the ridiculousness of caring about exclusivity, your work colleagues likely got sticker-shock because they don't know much about the cellphone market. I'm sure they don't think of the iPhone as an "exclusive" device, and yet it's in the same range as the Note 2 off-contract. The Nexus 4 may not be a monetarily exclusive device, but it's still going to have limited sales due to the number of people who are informed enough about their options to pick one up.

Front-to-front. The back's the best-looking part, after all; and the part that displays the ever-important logos.
You should realize that there are people outside of XDA who don't even know that this phone exists.
You say less exclusive... I say more support.
How many people actually know what a Nexus phone even is? I don't know anyone who does. They don't really advertise and come to think of it, I've never seen anyone with a Nexus (any of them).
No, it makes it lighter on my wallet. I don't care how many other people have it as long as I do.

I don't agree.
[13 yr old comment]If you want to feel special, maybe get it from the TMo store or import it. [/13 yr old comment]
The price is being subsidized. Just making it easier to reach more people. This way el goog can make even more money with mobile ad revenue.

Which is why we shouldn't worry about the phone being out of stock. Hopefully the stock outweighs the demand.
If having exclusivity means paying $1000 dollars, I'll take a less exclusive phone any day for $350
You think $500+ phones are exclusive? You'll find more Note 2s and iPhones than N4.
That said, the more the N4s out there, the more accessories there will be for it. And thats always a good thing.

Perhaps. Google may keep production low for the first wave after watching previous launches. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty about the popularity of this phone due to the lack of LTE, expandable storage, and maybe inadequate battery. Those of us looking to buy the phone can only hope that it is either not that popular or that Google didn't lower production.

You know what I got from reading this? That you need to feel special/better than your friends. That's no reason to jack up the price of a phone.
Tell you what, I'll buy mine, then sell it to you for $859.99, that'll really blow your colleagues out of the water! Or how about avoiding the faux pas of bragging about how much money you spent on a cell phone. Hell, if anything I'll be showing my friends this phone and telling them how cheap it was. Look at this thing, it's awesome, and cost half the price of your NoteII!

I don't see anything wrong of a 13 year old can save up and purchase this device, it allows a younger audience to own a modern smartphone without the hefty price tag. Exclusivity to one type of group (in this case being age) isn't somthing company's want for their products, and if they lure in the younger users with the low price tag, that means more marketshare for them. The nexus 4 isn't a fashion item like more popular phones such as the iPhone, or even the galaxy s3, it's made for contract free or value plan customers who want a fast phone for a reasonable price.
Lol I think this thread should be closed. =/
Who cares? Does it matter if the phone is not as "exclusive" as you would like?
It's an amazing phone at a great price, it will further push the Android ecosystem.
If you want exclusive, stick with foreign imports of obscure devices.

Go for it, still a very capable phone and you'll get official updates for at least another year and if not there will always be custom ROMs for the latest android versions out there.

I'd have to agree. Unless it's a 64GB with all original accessories and a few extras like cases and wireless chargers I'd say it's a bit much too.
At this point I would just save a little extra money and wait for a good 6P discount. I bought a brand new nexus 6 in december at 250 so I can't recommend you to buy an used one for more than that.
You can buy a 5X for 199 when you sign up for Fi.
Personally I agree that the original Nexus 6 is a good buy. I have it, and I still feel that it is the best phone I have owned.
That being said, I also agree that the price you have been quoted for the Used Nexus 6, does seem a bit high. Personally I would negotiate a slightly lower price if possible.
I bought a brand new phone for $250 from Amazon..

That's great for people who Fi works in their area I have 0 sprint coverage and about 10% coverage of Tmo in my area. Att is OK but Verizon is dominant with coverage about 95% of the rural area I live in....
Nexus 6 is still a great phone! I won't be giving it up anytime soon!
I got one late Feb and it is a great device. Got one from AWD - 32Gb at $215. I was opting for moto x pure but it was a bit expensive at that time. Anywho, its a great buy, i have no regrets.

I don't think they will sell it at that price anytime soon but keep on the lookout. Even AWD where I got mine sells it at around $300 in very good condition. Mine was from AWD as well and tagged used- in very good condition but it came like bnew.
Surely there must be forwarders in your country where you can ship it to a US address and they ship it to you for a price. That is what I usually do since I live in the PH.
I picked up a refurb from groupon for $250 a few weeks ago, I enjoy it personally.

What does 9/10 mean? Weak point of N6 is the battery
The updates are monthly now and Google never added new things, I would not be disappointed when the monthly updates stop.
In any case there will be Android N for the N6.
The point to worry about is the battery life and the amoled display. The dev's at Google forces us to use a white background. There is no option yet to switch to a dark theme without root access.
A child knows that a white interface on amoled displays causes battery drain. But Google ignores that.
Prepare for rooting and use layers and alternatives for Gapps like Aquamail that have the option to switch to a dark theme.

9/10 is a rating, ergo 9 out of 10. He's saying the device is nearly perfect.
I got mine for $180. Had an LG G3 before this phone. I just wanted a giant screen that is a great performer. I got more than I expected with this phone. I love it. There may be better devices on the market, but this is a great phone for the price!
I've just upgraded from my be loved nexus 5 and love it. Upgraded for the storage

Anyone thinking about upgrading from N6 to the Pixel?

I was pretty impressed with the release notes yesterday. Ive been nothing but happy with my N6 (got it new since it came out), but ive got the new phone itch lol.
Also since im on Project Fi, they were offering the VR gear for free (most likely would not have bought it on my own, just my personal opinion). So ive got my order in for an XL. We shall see how that goes.
imo I think it is really pricy. Cant justify myself spending so much for a pixel. beside that I think my n6 and n5 is still usable at least till the next pixel release.
No Pixel for me. Not going to pay that kind of money for a phone. I got my N6 just a year ago and it is still working perfect. If i buy a new phone then I will spent no more then 400 euro on it.

I agree, I was a bit surprised at the pricing.
Although, the days of renewing your contract and getting a $200 smart phone are gone. I think every phone company (around me anyways - ATT, VZ, Sprint, Tmobile, ect) are all charging full retail for phones now ($650+)
Its not as bad of a hit having it over 24 month payments and them not charging interest on it.
I'm getting it. Most of the people on here too are. No matter what they say. They will be craving it by xmas.
I preordered a 128GB Pixel XL for $921 to get the free VR headset deal, but I decided to cancel my order a few hours later. I'll wait for some reviews and root confirmation before I drop that kind of dough on something I'll be bored with in a year or less. Hopefully there will be a black Friday sale next month or some holiday deals at the end of the year.
The Pixel looks like a really really nice phone, but being a full time student with no job puts a big crunch on my budget for toys.

Hmm did not know that.
I had them for 10+ years but got tired of paying soooo much for my bill (grandfathered unlim data). When Project Fi was announced, I hopped on. Kept both VZ and Fi for 2-3 months to compared reception in the areas I spent most my time. Fi held up just fine and is LESS THAN HALF of what I was paying big red (just dont get unlim data).
Wonder if they will keep that trend going.

I was tempted to switch to Fi before, but I always had the idea in the back of my mind that someday I might grow tired of Nexus or the new iteration won't be as good (Pixel).
Anyways, if you still have a line on VZW, you can check it out, otherwise you can try to woo a representative into giving you the contract deal
I have no idea what makes anyone believe most people on here will buy the pixel. Literally 95% of the posters have an extremely negative opinion of the device on the threads out there. I would rather buy an iphone than a pixel at those prices. Too many other decent options to consider.

The N6 was equally ridiculously overpriced in 2014, so I laughed at the idea of buying it. Besides my Note 3 was only one year old, just reached the age I cared less if the knox flag is 0x1 or not. Also a SD805 upgrade over a SD800 is not an upgrade. And the Note 3 had a better camera.
And a year later I changed my mind.

The price is high, but the constituency here are tech heads. People will groan and grumble, but eventually get it. Provided their is good community support.
When a phone like our N6 starts to lose community support for being old, it's not very gratifying to own.
The only thing that would possibly stop me, if the bootloader was locked down tight with no option to root.
UPDATE: Ok, I did check the price. Pixel XL with 128g is probably about 900+ with tax delivered. Yea, that might push me out.

Is Nexus 6 (Brand New) worth buying in today's time ?

Hello there,
I am thinking of purchasing a new Nexus 6. I just want a phone with a bigger screen and great development support that can last for around the next 4 - 5 years..
Can anyone help me in knowing the battery life and the overall experience of using a Nexus 6..
Price is 278 USD.
Would be of great help..!
Thanks,
A fellow Android user.
PS - My main reason of considering a N6 is a great community support

I just bought a refurbished one used, for 200€ . As a play store refurbished unit it comes with 2 years warranty and it s like new. Here in Europe Google refurbish devices when you RMA it for some problem, and gives 2 years of warranty so now I have a brand new nexus 6. It a great it a like to have an unlimited warranty. I bought a nexus 6 from a nexus 5 only for the warranty and to have a battery that last all day. That said this phone is great in everything and I start to get addicted to the enormous screen. In hand it feels better than many other phones, it a fast , good battery, good camera, and awesome display. My only problem is the bug with 7.1.1 with loudspeaker calls, and auto volume reduction when is too high. So if you can live with an enormous screen , I can tell you buy it ,you will not regret

If it's a 64GB device and new, that's a better deal than relying on the very unreliable ebay.
Not worth, phone os is going to 64bit but this phone does not support 64bit os, also the price is high.

If you can find one for 250$ at most then go ahead, buy one. I bought the 32Gb version in 2015, black Friday on Amazon for just 200$ and I couldn't be more happier. You have lots of ROM's to choose from and the development community is awesome.
Could be a problem for the future though, since its internals may not cope well with the future versions of Android, being a 32-bit device and all.
Anyways, hope this helped.

I got mine for 156$ USD last summer. It was used 32gb in mint condition. Guess I got lucky with the prize. I'll have to say that I'm impressed with the community and this phone will definitely be supported by the community for a long time. Look at Nexus 4. It still has great support. Either way Nexus 6 is truly a legendary beast. The media experience is what got me. For the prize is hard to find a phone with as good community support and good for Nexus consumption. I'm sad that Google ditched dual front facing speakers on the Pixel. If I ever upgrade next year or at the end of this it would be to the 6P if the prize is right. If not I'll keep the 6 until it dies. They don't make phones like these, these days.

I can't deny it's a great phone and probably will get you through 4-5 years, but if I were making the purchase now I would just get a 6p. It is quite a bit more expensive, though. I would think it's worth it. But I can't say for certain because I don't have the device
I got mine a year ago at 250 brand new on amazon, so I would say hell no for 275. I got tired of the Nexus 6, great phone and all, but I started to feel like I bought a phone that never worked at 100% and had to tinker it all the time to be happy with it, and still there I wasn't totally happy with it.
Hell, I bought a huawei p9 last week and it's working better than my nexus 6 ever did (worse screen and speakers of course, but dont care), but it's a way better phone that just works, and it's fast, and shoots great pictures, and battery lasts.
If you NEED a developer phone, get a 6p... If you just want a good phone, check huawei and honor phones, great options for good prices!
Thank you everyone for your time..
If N6 is not an good choice now, Can anyone tell me a phone running PURE ANDROID and in the same budget i.e 278 USD ( INR - 20000) and having a great community support..

If it's a 64GB device and new, that's a better deal than relying on the very unreliable ebay.

Actually I am getting a 32 GB and from ebay only.!
Is Ebay that unreliable.. ?
Check the moto G4 plus... The 64gb version. I've seen it on amazon as low as $229.

When it comes to smartphones, ebay is the worst choice. For all you know, the new device you supposedly bought was actually a repack with Factory Reset Protection triggered. On ebay there is no control and no protection from the unscrupulous. Swappa is much better, as each phone put up for sale must be approved by a member of Swappa, plus unless the phone is in the Swappa boneyard, the phone is guaranteed to work without hassle. Otherwise you send the phone back and get your money refunded.
Having used Swappa once to purchase my S4, I'll never use ebay to get a phone. If Amazon didn't have new 64GB devices at this time last year, I would have used Swappa again. Ebay never entered the discussion.

Thank for providing an insight into this. I did never thought about this happening.
Thought Ebay is a fair choice, but what about the "Ebay GUARANTEE", that it provides..!
Also, Swappa is not present in India, sadly.

Moto G4 was my initial choice.
But, seeing the cases Motorola is doing with their phones.. I feel that Moto has lost their sheen..
My dad recent wanted a phone, I choose Moto G3 Turbo, thinking that It would certainly get the Nougat update and regular security update. But, sadly, Motorola dropped the entire G3 series from the Nougat update program, even not fulfilling the 2yr update promise.
My choice for N6 was that even though both phones has will get nougat, N6 would have a nice development scene in the coming year.
Also, Moto G4 is plagued with heating issues.
Can you give me another recommendation..
It's a great phone but I'm sure you can get it for less, 278 is a ripoff even for 64gb.

Moto g series are too expensive, don't even start comparing the lcd screen to the nexus 6 oled screen...

Is this phone still worth buying in Feb/March?

my old galaxy S3 stopped working, so I am thinking about getting this phone this month or early next month. Should I buy the 3t, or wait for the 4(5)? Thanks in advance.

Based on your requirement...3T is definitely a good phone and you can even sell and buy a 4/5 once it releases
Of course it is. Is the best smartphone right now.
had an lg g3 that stopped recognising the sim card. replacing the sim/sd card reader may not fix it. I dont want to waste money. wainting for enough people to vote in order to make a decision. dont mind me
i just bought my op3t coming from a nexus 6p
If you desperately needs a new phone...get the 3/T either one is a great option.
If you can wait, wait. All the new phones are coming out, including OnePlus.
Mine just got delivered today. On a whim, I decided to sell my Nexus 6P last Friday and ordered a 128gb 3T on Saturday. The 6P was a good phone, but 1.5 years old and due to be orphaned by Google in Sept. I needed to sell soon while the 6P still had some resale value, and the 3T beats the Pixel specs in all the ways that matter to me, so that's what brought me over. The 3T is one of the most powerful phones currently on the market (if not THE most powerful phone). They shaved a few corners (speakers and screen resolution come to mind, but screen is still very good), but the processor+ram are an awesome combo. The 3T isn't certified for Google Daydream so if that's important to you take it into consideration. Since your S3 is busted I assume you have a spare that will tide you over? If so, then maybe wait it out a couple of months. If not (or if the spare is garbage) then the 3T is a great phone with superior specs.
I believe that it completely makes sense to buy this phone.
Firstly, it has only been 4 months since this phone was released. And 4 months is the perfect time to evaluate how good the phone is, while it's still considered a newly released phone.
Besides, I don't think there'll be any great change in tech between the 3t and 4/5. It'll just be a slightly better version of the 3t, with slightly faster processor, slightly higher RAM (maybe).
Because of the very low prices, OnePlus isn't very great with their R/D. All their previous phones reflect that. They have always picked a safe design and put good hardware in it.
I think that once phones like iPhone 8 are released, the innovations they come up with become a thing. Like wireless charging?, Fingerprint scanner embedded in three screen?.
Till then, I think the 3t will be a great phone without anything lacking in it.
Given you'll have to wait for the 4/5, and also, you don't know how it'll turn out to be, my suggestion would be to go for the 3t.

The reason is that it's a proven phone. Good spec, good battery life, god design and awesome charge capacity. You can always wait because there will always be better phones coming but not all phones will be value for money like 3t. Just got it 3 days back.
For y pay for a OnePlus 3 or 3T and the spec you get... I really don't understand why anyone would not buy one. TBH I don't understand why anyone would pay the premium for a 3T when you can pick-up a 3 for less and the spec difference is so minimal. But that's just my opinion

~$350 mint

~$400 mint
OnePlus.net
$439 new
People do strange things so it's nice not to have to wonder.

One can only speculate

Ordered mine on Monday. Received on Thursday. Upgraded from Nexus 6 which was my favorite device. Now this is my favorite. It just flies. And I just used my phone for 2 days on a single charge, where my N6 would have died overnight.
