Anyone thinking about upgrading from N6 to the Pixel? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was pretty impressed with the release notes yesterday. Ive been nothing but happy with my N6 (got it new since it came out), but ive got the new phone itch lol.
Also since im on Project Fi, they were offering the VR gear for free (most likely would not have bought it on my own, just my personal opinion). So ive got my order in for an XL. We shall see how that goes.

imo I think it is really pricy. Cant justify myself spending so much for a pixel. beside that I think my n6 and n5 is still usable at least till the next pixel release.

No Pixel for me. Not going to pay that kind of money for a phone. I got my N6 just a year ago and it is still working perfect. If i buy a new phone then I will spent no more then 400 euro on it.

I agree, I was a bit surprised at the pricing.
Although, the days of renewing your contract and getting a $200 smart phone are gone. I think every phone company (around me anyways - ATT, VZ, Sprint, Tmobile, ect) are all charging full retail for phones now ($650+)
Its not as bad of a hit having it over 24 month payments and them not charging interest on it.

I'm getting it. Most of the people on here too are. No matter what they say. They will be craving it by xmas.

I preordered a 128GB Pixel XL for $921 to get the free VR headset deal, but I decided to cancel my order a few hours later. I'll wait for some reviews and root confirmation before I drop that kind of dough on something I'll be bored with in a year or less. Hopefully there will be a black Friday sale next month or some holiday deals at the end of the year.
The Pixel looks like a really really nice phone, but being a full time student with no job puts a big crunch on my budget for toys.

This just sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and your parents taught you some responsibility/how to prioritize lol :good:. Something I seem to see/hear less and less of with younger generations.

worst case scenario i might just pick up a used 6p or a xiaomi flagship at half the price

£400/$500, yes. Current prices, absolutely not. Where do you get "Most of the people on here too are" from? Based on the number of people who say "Wow, that's a very reasonable price" or what?

Yeah, however I'm on Verizon and if you've been with them before they removed the contract pricing, you are still allowed to upgrade at contract price for around $200-$300

Hmm did not know that.
I had them for 10+ years but got tired of paying soooo much for my bill (grandfathered unlim data). When Project Fi was announced, I hopped on. Kept both VZ and Fi for 2-3 months to compared reception in the areas I spent most my time. Fi held up just fine and is LESS THAN HALF of what I was paying big red (just dont get unlim data).
Wonder if they will keep that trend going.

I was tempted to switch to Fi before, but I always had the idea in the back of my mind that someday I might grow tired of Nexus or the new iteration won't be as good (Pixel).
Anyways, if you still have a line on VZW, you can check it out, otherwise you can try to woo a representative into giving you the contract deal

I have no idea what makes anyone believe most people on here will buy the pixel. Literally 95% of the posters have an extremely negative opinion of the device on the threads out there. I would rather buy an iphone than a pixel at those prices. Too many other decent options to consider.

Well it's mostly because I have more expensive hobbies (cars). I just finished a big turbo project and I need that money in case something goes terribly wrong. It shouldn't, but **** happens... Having a running car is more important than having the latest gadget.

My N6 is way better than that overpriced phones. So no thank you. I'll wait few more months until prices go down and buy an op3 or even a axon 7. Or go adventurous and buy Umi plus. Which is easy sexier looking phone!
So N6 was my last Google phone ever.

The N6 was equally ridiculously overpriced in 2014, so I laughed at the idea of buying it. Besides my Note 3 was only one year old, just reached the age I cared less if the knox flag is 0x1 or not. Also a SD805 upgrade over a SD800 is not an upgrade. And the Note 3 had a better camera.
And a year later I changed my mind.

The price is high, but the constituency here are tech heads. People will groan and grumble, but eventually get it. Provided their is good community support.
When a phone like our N6 starts to lose community support for being old, it's not very gratifying to own.
The only thing that would possibly stop me, if the bootloader was locked down tight with no option to root.
UPDATE: Ok, I did check the price. Pixel XL with 128g is probably about 900+ with tax delivered. Yea, that might push me out.

Does the bargain price of the Nexus 4 make it less exclusive??

I was talking to one of my buddies here at work who is also an Android Freak like myself and we were discussing about how Google and LG can sell such a device packing what it does for $299 or $349.
It's seems like it has really beautiful build quality also, while Samsung sells a plastic dual core S3 with half the RAM, lower resolution screen for double the price!
Don't get me wrong, I am both happy and sad that the phone is so damn cheap. Glad because it is so dirt cheap that I can buy it as a backup phone to my Note 2 and just not worry about it falling and breaking or whatever. Replacing just the LCD on my Note 2 would probably pay for the whole Nexus 4!
Sad because since it is so cheap, it almost gives me the impression that it's some kind of gophone, pay as you go device. You know, a disposable phone. Something any 13 year old who mows lawns on the weekends can afford. Also judging by the comments and anticipation in this forum, those are most likely the majority of buyers. 13 year old geeks. =)
To me the device lost something special, exclusivity.
When I first picked up my Note 2, everybody at work was in awe and were ready to go purchase one immediately.
Then I told them how much I paid, $690 off contract and they all had sticker shock. Only one other fella at my work has a Note 2 besides me now, and that's my boss. The device feels special to me.
I know this post seems a bit ridiculous, but that's something that is bugging me a little about the device. What do you guys think? A little something inside kinda wish Google priced this device similar to the Galaxy Nexus. I think it would have been more special to me. Am I crazy?

Just because people are excited, you're assuming they're 13? Right...
... and imo, the price does not make it any less exclusive.
You could always buy two and strap them back-to-back for that "cachet" feel?
In any case, mainstream smartphones, like all technology, will always be getting less exclusive. If exclusivity is of import, the Tag Heuer Android phones look quite sharp, but probably will be behind on the OS curve...
Setting aside the ridiculousness of caring about exclusivity, your work colleagues likely got sticker-shock because they don't know much about the cellphone market. I'm sure they don't think of the iPhone as an "exclusive" device, and yet it's in the same range as the Note 2 off-contract. The Nexus 4 may not be a monetarily exclusive device, but it's still going to have limited sales due to the number of people who are informed enough about their options to pick one up.

Front-to-front. The back's the best-looking part, after all; and the part that displays the ever-important logos.
You should realize that there are people outside of XDA who don't even know that this phone exists.
You say less exclusive... I say more support.
How many people actually know what a Nexus phone even is? I don't know anyone who does. They don't really advertise and come to think of it, I've never seen anyone with a Nexus (any of them).
No, it makes it lighter on my wallet. I don't care how many other people have it as long as I do.

The price is being subsidized. Just making it easier to reach more people. This way el goog can make even more money with mobile ad revenue.

Which is why we shouldn't worry about the phone being out of stock. Hopefully the stock outweighs the demand.
If having exclusivity means paying $1000 dollars, I'll take a less exclusive phone any day for $350
You think $500+ phones are exclusive? You'll find more Note 2s and iPhones than N4.
That said, the more the N4s out there, the more accessories there will be for it. And thats always a good thing.

Perhaps. Google may keep production low for the first wave after watching previous launches. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty about the popularity of this phone due to the lack of LTE, expandable storage, and maybe inadequate battery. Those of us looking to buy the phone can only hope that it is either not that popular or that Google didn't lower production.

You know what I got from reading this? That you need to feel special/better than your friends. That's no reason to jack up the price of a phone.
Tell you what, I'll buy mine, then sell it to you for $859.99, that'll really blow your colleagues out of the water! Or how about avoiding the faux pas of bragging about how much money you spent on a cell phone. Hell, if anything I'll be showing my friends this phone and telling them how cheap it was. Look at this thing, it's awesome, and cost half the price of your NoteII!

I don't see anything wrong of a 13 year old can save up and purchase this device, it allows a younger audience to own a modern smartphone without the hefty price tag. Exclusivity to one type of group (in this case being age) isn't somthing company's want for their products, and if they lure in the younger users with the low price tag, that means more marketshare for them. The nexus 4 isn't a fashion item like more popular phones such as the iPhone, or even the galaxy s3, it's made for contract free or value plan customers who want a fast phone for a reasonable price.
Lol I think this thread should be closed. =/
Who cares? Does it matter if the phone is not as "exclusive" as you would like?
It's an amazing phone at a great price, it will further push the Android ecosystem.
If you want exclusive, stick with foreign imports of obscure devices.

Options to exchange LGG4 after 14 days?

So, I upgraded to a Sprint LGG4 on Aug 1st, 2015...1.5 months ago. I'm starting to not like the phone due to spit screen issues and tons of bad press about the issues on the internet. I really wish I would have picked the Galaxy Note 5! Now it looks like my options to exchange are limited to "Pay Big Bucks!" and get a Note 5! I don't want to have to sell the farm to exchange. I am stuck in a 2 year lease agreement with Sprint. So what do you guys think? Try the G4 replacement process with my Sprint TEP or pay the piper and upgrade to Note 5?
You are stuck in the lease right? You can't even pay off the lease from what understand. Why not just use your TEP, that's why you have it, right?
sadly, you cant swap a device with sprint based on "bad press".
if your device is exhibiting the known issue bugs, then sure, you can get swapped into another G4.

cool. most of the issues seem to be hardware based. hopefully that is something LG will fix in future builds of device. that being said, if its not selling a lot, they may just play the wait and see if it fails game.
i am disappointed in the lack of support for both HTC and LG in the sprint forums, but then again, sprint hasn't been stellar with their service for a while now and i think the forums are showing that. even the once crazy samsung forums seem to be a bit vacant.

Yeah, Sprint is "low over head" but they hold their own. Service is decent in my area and I don't have to mortgage my first born for a good plan! I just wish all carriers would loosen the reigns a little and let these powerful phones 'breathe!' Also, 14 days isn't long enough to see if a phone is right for me...and now they don't care if I am unhappy because they have me trapped for 23 more months! LOL! When companies finally realize that treating a customer like a king is better business, this will be a great world!

People are WAY too caught up with being LOCKED in for 24 months.
I just swapped M9 to G4. It will cost me about $100.00-$150.00 to switch. Buy on Ebay and Sell on Ebay (or swappa).
If you want to change carriers. Many will pay early termination.
The only thing you are losing is the discount you got on the phone. Which you can resell.
You could say switch to a T-Mobile S6 probably for $99.00, T-Mobile pays termination and sell your G4 for $350.00. You'd be ahead of the game.
So nobody is handcuffed to anything.
I do agree 14 days is too short. I think if you buy through Amazon you might get 30 days.
I did indeed! Seemed like a good idea at the time! I wanted a low monthly price...they offered loyalty discount so I pay like $8 per month compared to the $30 per month for the Note 5...I don't really need an old phone after 2 years so returning the phone after 2 years was no problem either. I'm ok with the lease, just wish it was a little more flexible!

Nexus 6 - still worth it?

Android - I'm coming home! Now to find a phone.
Been looking at the Nexus 6 pretty hard. I don't want LG, and I refuse to pay premium prices for a Haiwei crash-o-matic piece of junk.
Spent some time at Best Buy today fondling a Nexus 6 - love the screen, love the feel, love the speed.
So, nearly a year after it's release, is it still worth it? Thinking about doing another 2 year with AT&T, which would make it $149, or $349 outright through Best Buy.
THoughts?
Plain and simple: Yes

People are still happy with their Nexus 4's for that matter, so I'd say yes, it's still worth it for the next 2 years. Although personally I despise 2 year contracts.
Most definitely. I have a Galaxy S6 and this thing blows it out of the water, except the camera. Way faster, much more support, better battery life.. Although I figured I'd get more than what I do. I'm keeping my eye out on the upcoming Nexus(es) but I have a feeling I'll stick with this and the S6 for awhile.
BTW I just purchased this about a month ago from Swappa. Couldn't stand being locked down with the S6 anymore.

Get the unlocked version! That way you have options. IMO, over the next 2-5 years, we are going to see major changes in the way cellular, and probably all technology, services are handled. It would suck to be locked in for the next 2 years.
Im on Straight Talk for $50 a month and using AT&T towers in my area w/ 4g LTE. Unlimited everthing Full speed up to 5g and throttled after that. Unless you are grandfathered in on some amazing deal, being locked in always favors the carrier.
BTW, Best Buy has 6 month interest free financing.

I want the unlocked one, but funding is tight... plus so is the wife's purse LOL
She controls the money in the house so I play by her rules - happy wife, happy life!
Regarding the financing, I tried already - because I had a bankruptcy in the past 3 years Best Buy won't give me any credit (even though every other bank in the free world seems to be throwing it at me!)
My wife about cut me when I ordered our Nexus 6's because of the price haha! But now that she has one I doubt she'll let me get her out of the Nexus lineup from here on out. The Nexus community doesn't seem to die out like our devices often do. The hardware really isn't that dated. I admit the camera is a bit lacking on this device. Finding a case can be a challenge if you're a destroyer of phones like myself. But the speed, screen and speakers on this phone are amazing!
Case wise I had to get a unicorn beetle. It has saved my phone twice now.
I contacted AT&T via Facebook - all they could tell me is that it wasn't available right now - which doesn't necessarily mean that they will not have it again, just that it's not available NOW. Go figure...

New Nexus is coming out later on this month or next month. It's made by Huawei. Guess AT&T have just unloaded all their old stock. Amazon and ebay sellers are doing the same.

Help Deciding : Nexus 6 or Nexus 6P??

Hello Everyone,
I am having a hard time deciding on what to do here. Here are my options:
A: Upgrade my current Sprint line to the Nexus 6 for $0.00 today, free activation and free overnight shipping!
B: Pre-Order the Nexus 6P for $500+ out of pocket today and have it essentially cost me $120 more a year. (Sprint Unlimited Plan is going from $60 to $70 October 16th)
I have to stay with Sprint. Looking at options A and B it really only seems logical to go with A... lol. Anyways...
I am looking for Pros and Cons for the Moto Nexus 6 vs the Nexus 6P.
Any and all input on this would be appreciated! Thank you for your time!
PS: This will be my first Android Phone. I have been an iPhone user since the 3GS! I currently have an iPhone 6 and I am just sick of my boring A$$ iPhones! After doing a bunch of research and such I decided that I really want a Nexus Device! I just can't decide between the Nexus 6 or the Nexus 6P.
Unless you absolutely need to have USB-C or biometric unlock, save your money. The N6 is still a very capable device.
Ooh and 6p doesn't have wireless charging...
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Not quite sure what the implications on your sprint plan is, but I wouldn't get the N6 from Sprint. Amazon has them for sub $400. I just bought the 64gb warehouse deal for $339. I know sprint is listing them for over $600 and you'll pay every bit of that though easy pay too. IMO saving $150+ by going with the N6 is the better decision.
Are you on a contract type plan with sprint still?
I personally love my Nexus 6. The convenience of wireless charging overrides any USB type-c in my opinion since I have 100 USB cables that work great already. I also like my motorola, as I was a huge fan of the Moto X line the Nexus 6 fits many criteria in one. But its your phone get what best suits you.
I already have the N6, but my wife is looking for a new phone. She's choosing the N6P, mainly because she feels that the original N6 is to clunky. Looking at side by side pictures the N6P looks quite sleek...
The only real difference between the two that are noticeable right away are the finger print scanner on the back, and USB C charging. I have a Nexus 6 and I will tell you, this phone charges fast as hell with it's fast charge feature and it makes the USB C charging seem gimmicky. For the price, I would say go for a Nexus 6! And someone already mentioned the Amazon price that's quite low right now, opinion of course, but I would say the real deal breaker here is if you REALLY want a finger print scanner or can live without it. I love my Nexus 6!
EDIT: You're coming from an iPhone? Welcome to the world of Android, you're making a much better choice!
Sent from my Nexus 6
Also want to say, since you're coming from iPhone, you're making a good choice going with the Nexus platform over one of the vendors (Samsung, LG, etc) IMO. While they make great phones, I think vanilla android is the best form. I cannot stand how the other mfgs load their phones up with just crap. I have an LG now that I love, but it's unlocked and running vanilla android
If you get into unlocking and rooting your phone, there's so much you can do with it but it's also a great experience stock.
I pulled the trigger on the Nexus 6! I've always wanted a phone with a big screen so I know I am going to love it! I spent an hour on the phone with Sprint and got them down to $500! I just explained to the supervisor that it is a year old phone and you can buy it directly from Google for $500. I still got charged the full $648-$48 instant discount =$600. $0 down installment billing through easy pay. But he issued me $100 credit to make up for it! They are also buying my iPhone 6 back for $385 so I will have a $485 credit on my account. I won't have to pay my bill for 6 months! HaHa! He also waived activation and gave me free two day shipping. I feel I did pretty well! Cost me nothing up front! I probably could have gotten more from selling my iPhone solo but the fact that it's a Sprint model would have made it a lot harder and taken forever. Plus it has a few scratches on it and such so $385 is plenty enough in my opinion. Amazons for $350 are a good deal but they say no Sprint/Verizon for some reason. In my area it is Verizon or Sprint. GSM is not an option! No AT&T or T-Mobile coverage at all!
I can't wait to get it! This is the first time I have bought an Android and this is the first time I bought a year old phone! I have always got the latest iPhone upon release. It was kind of hard for me to eat that I was getting year old tech, but I really wanted the 6" display and I wanted a Nexus device. (For some reason I always think I have to have the latest and greatest even though I am far from a power user) With 3GB ram and a Snapdragon 805 I am sure I will enjoy it for a while. As long as I get 2 years out of it I will be happy!

Congrats! You'll love android. And while this may be a year old phone, it's still arguably top of the line. The SD 808 and 810 are not clearly better than the 805, especially with the 810's thermal issues. Take good care of it and you should see 2 years easy out of the phone.
And besides, you can always trade early for next year's Nexus
Edit: BTW I love your avatar...perfect for someone coming from iPhone to their first Android
Awesome dude! Android is a much better mobile OS! It does so much more than iOS! And I'm a believer in the Nexus line! Other phones are alright, but like someone said, loaded with useless crap! Nexus is the way to go!

Yes sir!!

Keep it or sell it?

I have a flawless P5 (other than a degraded battery) with nary a scratch or flaw other than normal use. I just bought a Pixel 6a and received a trade-in value of $138 from Google. Swappa is currently selling them in good condition for close to $200 but after fees and shipping it's probably not much different. So should I keep the P5 for a backup in case something happens to the P6a or bite the bullet and send it back? It's sitting here wiped clean but looking pretty good on the table next to the trade-in box. Just some random thoughts would be appreciated.
When the phones I currently own depreciate that much in value - I usually gift them to family members who need them since I always keep them in pristine condition.
If a phone sells for a net profit of $100-$200 and I spent anywhere from $600-$1400 (some unlocked intl. versions of high end SAmsungs have gone even more than $1400), I might as well just gift it to one of my family members. That would make me feel a lot better than selling it for a small profit.

Dang P5 was $400 when I last checked, and $280 with crack screen IIRC. I actually think $280 was lowest.

I know, that's what I thought. I was surprised at the Google offer of only $138 too. Just checked again and mint P5 is only a little over 200 now with 'good' selling at around $180 and a lot of them from major sellers. At this point I'll keep it for a backup device since both my wife and I have the P6a now and just in case... damn slippery phone. lol. Only problem with the P5 is that it's a VZW phone and you know what that means... no rom playing. Both the 6a are bl unlockable for the future.

And just like that Google is offering $400 for the P5 for the P7 trade in. That makes the phone $99 plus tax. This is nuts. How can you turn down a P7 for that price?

I love my P5.. idk what to do.
I had to replace my back camera myself. its fine close shots but not far..
so idk what they will do.
i wish they'd let me do the black friday $499 + the $100 promo code I got one from a friend.
I'd do that all day.
but it wouldn't allow me to do it.
I'll have to play with the P7, I haven't seen it in person, if I like the size, I'll do it.
My 2016 htc one m8 will have to be my backup LOL

I LOVED my M8. That's the phone that made me an active member here and where I started learning WAY more about Android and rooting. Became a member here a couple of years before that with the Galaxy s3

The P7 is large for sure. Without any case it's doable but bound to drop and crack. It's just the way things are. But I did pull the trigger and order it, just too good of a deal to pass up. I'll keep my P6a but I'm not really sure what will become my carrier device yet. Worst case scenario I'll trade in my 6a for the 7a and.. heck I have no idea what I'm doing. Why does Google do that do that to me? But nonetheless I will have 2 great phones to play with. And pretty inexpensive to boot. This might also be a great time for me to play around with unlock and root which I haven't done in years. Bottom line I have a P6a and a P7 total cost $400.

oh man... why did you have to tell us about this amazing deal lol lol? Really tempting to trade my P5 for the P7. But the size and weight of P5 is on another level. One of the best designed phones I've ever used

My bro.... I am on the check out step of my P7 purchase and it's giving me the option to get that $100 Google store credit for myself and you will get it too if you complete the purchase using my code... Want to do that? I hope Google is not lying lol... because that's what I'm reading at the checkout page.
how does Google send the code? Via e-mail or did I miss something? First pixel I buy through the Google website

When you purchase, I recommend using a burner account specifically for buying from Google Store. If you hang around in https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/ there are hundreds of horror stories of people receiving an empty box (delivery drivers stealing it) and Google refusing to refund or replace, making it exceptionally stressful for you. If you do a chargeback, Google will deactivate your account in retaliation. Against a huge company like Google, you don't really have any recourse.
I always recommend buying from a retailer so you are better protected with consumer laws (you can do a lawful chargeback without the retailer retaliating) and you can pick up the device in person so you know for sure the box has a phone inside it. But sometimes, a promotion is only valid through their official website in which case I recommend using a secondary account that you don't mind being nuked for whatever reason.
Back to the original topic, I'd probably use my P5 until it dies. Pay someone to replace the battery in a few years. It's the perfect size with pretty good battery life based on my usage. I don't game on my phone and mostly only use it for listening to music via bluetooth and some social media. There are no other modern phones that fit in one hand. All the other phones are too big and require both hands to operate. The only downside to this phone is that cell service is really bad. It drops down to 3G in malls meanwhile a Galaxy S9 (2018) has full bars of 4G+. If they release a phone that's the same size as P5 but with the newer P7 hardware, I'm all in.

Sorry, the devil made me do it. but you are correct. There is nothing like the P5 for size and weight. I still have it right here looking at me longingly but it's time to give up the ghost. I have been using the 6a now since it came out. I traded in my P6 (cracked case) and got $300 for it. I hated the P6 and was glad BB offered me the trade-in. The real story here is that the P5 is my wife's phone and I had to pry it from her cold dead hands in order to get her to try the 6a. It was $299 plus a trade-in of $138. The battery on the 5 was shot to heck and she uses it all the time for news/email/social. I let her use my 6a for a day and she finally said ok, it wasn't bad and we bought it. She does like it even though it's a bit larger. It fits in her pockets and running gear (has to use Strava) which I do too. I traded in my P5 for the P6 and regretted it from day one.
But then they came up with the $400 vs $138 and well how can you turn that down with a hundred off on the 7? That phone is just too large to carry but it will be a great phone for the house on either wifi or with my eSim which I rarely use any longer. I mean it's $99 bucks and I'd use it without a case. So there's the two phones, 6a and 7 for 400 dollars. When the 7a comes out I will probably get it if it comes in at the same size as the 6a (or smaller) and they accept a 6a trade-in. But that's a long way off for now.
@swangjang I've seen the stories about the returns. I've probably sent back for trade-in and replacements about 6 or so times over the years. And not to jinx it but never had one problem. I'm going to take the leap of faith again simply because BB is only offering $315 for the P5. That's an $85 difference and nothing to sneeze about. I count in beers and that's about 20 drafts on happy hour. I tried appealing to BB corporate but they didn't budge so Google it is. Anyway, to make a long story short.

I got the P5 in Aug 2021 for $420 - brand new condition and I never game or use it for any demanding apps or anything like that. I installed a custom ROM and custom kernel in it and chose the most conservative battery parameters and this bad boy can easily go 2 days without a charge in my case. Battery is still running great.
Like I mentioned before - I've always used power units before - I have pretty much owned and used all the Note and Ultras from samsung and I gave my S21 Ultra to my mom. I am a strong believer that big screen phones are tailored to women lol... they never carry their phones in their pockets. But that thing was such a pain to carry around - so heavy and it would tire my hands holding it.
Then I switched to the P5 and the size and weight are amazing. I like the bezels and the shape a lot too. Even though the P5 is a great device overall you could tell that it is still a midranger performer. Switching apps, recording, camera (imo) or doing something that requires power you can tell that it doesn't perform as the power units. And I tried using kernels that were tweaked for performance -it still fell short.
I made the switch to the P7 also - it was a really good deal to pass up and the reviews are very positive thus far. Never held the device or looked at it live but the size shouldn't be too bad. I only hope that it feels nice in the pocket or when walking. I know that it is heavier but hopefully it won't feel like the Samsung bricks lol

I'm not trolling or anything but they said they were going to send me the $100 Google store coupon but they never did. And I checked spam/promotions folder in my gmail and still nothing. I might reach out to them also and see what's going on with that. But I read your correspondence with them - maybe they realized they were giving too many discounts with the purchase of the P7 so they took that away (by saying it's an ongoing issue and all those excuses).
Let us know if they ever "fix" your request but I'm assuming they will never give the $100 Google store credit anymore...
Meanwhile here in Canada I just got a 7 Pro for $428CAD through my carrier ($319 in USD). Black Friday deals ftw!
I wonder if you guys ever considered the Zenfone 9... that one seems like a perfect phone also considering its size and performance

Wow, great deal. Trade-in or straight away? Carriers will sometimes give those deals and give credit over 2 years. I got a free P5 that way but had to wait the two years to fully realize it.
I'm perfectly happy with my P5 still. I bought my P2 about a month after it was released and didn't replace it for 4 years until I got my P5, 6 months after the release date. I most likely won't replace my P5 until Google comes to their senses and goes back to the plain slate styling instead of that horrible camera bump.
