[Q] In Case of Emergency Settings - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I tried to set up the ICE settings, but for some reason I cannot add the medical stuff. The option is greyed out and I cannot find any reason for that. Anyone know how to make that available? I do have medical allergies and if this stupid setting could save my life, would be cool... lol.
OMG!!! nevermind, I found the checkbox!!!

how to disable data?

Hi guys....few weeks ago I saw a post about some program that disables data, I can`t seem to find that post anymore I hope someone can help me out on this. I am going to be coming down to San Diego and I don`t want my G1 to do data roaming. Is there anyway I can completely disable data on it?
Thanks.

Just rename your APN.. adding a few letter on the end will keep it from connecting. Its what I do since I am using my Magic on prepaid.

There are several options. Some are free. apnDroid works pretty well. You might be interested in apnDroid + WiSync as a no data WIFI-only synchronization solution. Many prefer this solution for a WIFI-only sync solution. WiSync also doubles as a Locale plugin allowing you to add synchronization settings to situations (auto-sync on/off, gmail on/off, calendar on/off, contacts on/off). WiSync as a Locale plugin provides more features than the Locale Sync plugin.
If you don't mind paying a couple of bucks you can look at WiSyncPlus. It allows you to schedule access to both your APN and WIFI as well as control synchronization. WiSyncPlus has lots of triggers so you can, for example, automatically enable/disable your WIFI when the screen turns on/off. Additionally WiSyncPlus even has some roaming protection features. Of the available applications, WiSyncPlus is by far ahead of the pack in sheer features/capabilities and options. Plus it has tons of shortcuts to make using it easy.
Here's a list of URLs of the above mentioned applications for easy reference.
apnDroid
WiSync
Locale
WiSyncPlus
WiSyncPlus @ GearSoft
APNdroid works great and it's super-easy to use.
If you have a rooted phone you can also check Droid Wall. It allows you to enable your data while not consuming it in the background by any application.

i used toggle data from the market before...
One quick note, WiSyncPlus toggles your APNs much, much faster than either apnDroid or ToggleData. The later of the two can prevent your phone from ringing should you be toggling state as a call comes in. The delay is long enough you can completely miss a call. WiSyncPlus does not suffer from this issue. Granted, its not likely to happen but I have read accounts (apnDroid at least) complaining about the issue. But hey, they're free and WiSyncPlus is not.

[SEARCHing] Conditional Settings app

Hi,
I was looking on the market but couldn't find anything like it.
I am looking for an app that can setup different things under different circumstances. Exaple would be: disable calls to the phone when satnav is on, or even better play an mp3 (or text-to-speech) to the caller with message (i'm driving now, will call back) or sending a text to a caller.
Also change settings based on time/place ur in etc.
Any app that can setup chain of events if/when -> then would be good.
Wouldn't be cool when you're driving and your android would answer the phone for you with a prerecorded robotic message saying that you're driving and will call back later?
Does an app like that even exist?
I read something about an app that can change phone settings depending on your location, but i don't remember it's name.
Any help would be great,
Thanks in advance.
bump, anyone?
Maybe someone is willing to create such application?
Locale is probably the app you read about. It wont do everything you want but it should do some.
Even though Locale cant do all of those things, they do offer a plug in system. Having had a quick look at their documentation, it should be fairly simple to create one.
Thanks for the responses, i will look into it, if I'll get anywhere with the plugin I'll post it here.
Cheers.

[Q] missing "Map it" option in "find my phone" service

I have just got a HD7. In the setting section, under the find my way category, I have a problem.
first, the phone says that find my way is not available.
Second. The option that allows me to let the phone save my locations for faster whatever does not exist. i.e. instead of two options in find my phone setting, I just have one. the other is missing.
third, in the windows live website, there is no sign of the "Map it" option that it should be there. other features like lock and ring work perfectly fine through SMS, NOT push notification.
although this is not a big deal, but I wonder what can be the reason. I live in turkey. can that be for it that the map it option is not available in turkey, or maybe HTC has decided to protect our privacy better by removing the save my location option. anybody has any idea?

I have the same problem, anyone can solve this?
Set your number in the settings, then it should work. Or try to change your locale settings (WL and phone)
On my device it's also missing.
When I logged into the website windowsphone.com suddenly on the phone instead of those two checkboxes with options, I've got only now :
"Ring, lock or erase your phone......" and slider setting "On/Off".
How to bring the maps on?

raising Bionic's volume through hidden menu *please read*

Hello there, with the Galaxy S I was able to fundamentally raise the volume through a 'hidden' menu
Samsung Galaxy S - How, What & Where
if you scroll down there, you'll see he says to enter *#*#197328640#*#* and yadda yadda
I think there may be others, too. but None of them seem to work with the Bionic.
anyway, I tried doing this and Bionic to no avail. Different handset, different hidden menu, I suppose.
there is the ##program menu, but I don't think I can change any audio from there.
Know how I can fundamentally raise the volume on the bionic? The volume app raisers really don't know anything, we'd have to actually dig deep and raise it. Trying to look for any menus to go to and I can't seem to find anything.
Please help
Are you talking about shortcutting going to settings > sounds and raising that way, or do you mean something more like a DSP Manager app?

There were hidden menus to access things you normally couldn't. Onother words, raising the Max level etc. As described in that link.
Anybody know how to do that on here?
BUMP
c'mon people
PLEASE HELP
If anything i'd think sqlite editor may be the route to go, in the same place for wifi and teather hack i seem to remember something having to do with audio settings, i think the default value is 3 maybe changing to to a higher level would do the trick
this is what you're looking for as far as the diagnostic menu *#*#4636#*#*
Do you need more functionality than what DSP Manager offers?

[Q] Gingervolt 2.0 and Tasker

I have been playing around with my LG Revolution, and bought Tasker 1.2.1m Installed Secure Settings 1.1.7, installed Secure Settings helper, and checked my Profile under /Systems/build.prop for line ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 and I can't seem to get Tasker to toggle GPS on if it is off.
I read about a roll your own find your phone app and figured I'd do that, but if someone just turns off my GPS then what good does that do :/.
I figured I'd ask here first before I mosey over to the Tasker Discussions Group to see if it's just a small thing I may be over looking in the ROM.
I also added Tasker to accessibility, just to cover my bases.
The stock rom seems to have issues with apps switching gps states, as evident in power control apps. I really dont know how to fix this...
