[Q] Mobile data while talking on the phone still not working?? - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Good afternoon,
I have had my motorola droid turbo for approximately two weeks now and noticed for the first time today that while trying to make a phone call I'm unable to use mobile data even over my wifi. Is this something that is still coming down the pipe for droid users? I seem to have run all of the updates possible that are available from Motorola as well as Android. I am Not Yet on lollipop so unable to test that.
Thank you for your assistance.

if you read through this forum you will know that u need to activate advance calling via settings on phone and also on the verizon website.

It is concerning that you don't even get data when connected to Wi-Fi. That should work out of the box.

Mine says upgrade to advance calling but is grayed out and can't click it, could this be because I disabled all Verizon's apps. Also does this upgrade mean that it costs more to use.

It is clear in the advanced calling faq from verizon that it does not.
If its greyed out, you didnt enable it on your account. I know this because you would have answered your own question regarding cost. This is a required step and even mentioned in this thread.
Come on guys, put in a little effort towards this.

I can read so no need for your comment at the end of your post if you would of read what I wrote you would see I said I disabled all Verizon's apps, and maybe that is why it was grayed out once I re enabled the apps that fixed the problem not because I had to go on there site to get it to work once it was enabled that page came up to sign up for it. Thank you.

No disabled verizon app is doing this. That is why i did not address it.
I didnt mean to be rude but you asked about cost.
The very page you add it with answers this.

New message from ATT with free software

Did anyone else get a bizarre message today?

Anyone know what this is... strangely enough, I am very reluctant to download software recommended by random text messages.....
i received that same text message...didnt bother downloading because it was from an unknown sender
Also think about this. IF AT&T was offering free software wouldn't they put it on wireless.att.com?
The link redirects (or tries to before timing out) to http://wap2.cingularextras.com.
Trying to go to http://www.cingularextras.com takes you to http://mediamall.wireless.att.com which is pretty much where you'll end up trying to 'Shop' from http://wireless.att.com/home.
You can go into your Account and uncheck all the marketing options. I used to get text messages for promotions and what not and I removed all of them and now I don't get anything.

They certainly wouldn't distribute over a text message from a domain called wappush.net. I'd be more than reluctant to download it. It screams of a virus.

Yeah, that's what it screamed to me too....
Thought I would throw it out here before I deleted it, though....
Very Suspicious!

i work for att. this is a legit text. i followed the link at it takes you to what is free this week in mediamall.
as long as the message says att with in the first three words then it is legit.

Sure tell everyone the Code. Now scammers know to put att in the first three words. And At&t Really should be smart enough not to use such an unidentifiable website. The should use wappush.att.net or something. I'm still very suspicious of this.

Is there a way to use the tilt as a modem without extra fees?

Hey I have sprint and I always connect my phone to my laptop or computer with out any tethering fees...
My friend was always able to go online with his laptop by using my phone.
I have a sprint mogul... And I dont pay any tethering fees. My friend wanted to be able to do the same and get a data connection by tethering the phone to the laptop.
SO he went and got a tilt but now notices that you need to pay an extra fee to be able to tether... is there a way to get around this?
Is getting a laptop connect plan the only way to be able to get internet connection to his laptop?
This topic has been disgussed many many many times. Please search first.
all you could have said was a simple yes or no and thats it... but you said all of what u said which was irrelevant.
this isnt for me but for a friend so i dudnt even get to search much i just needed a quick answer

Yes.
Look for Internet Sharing under Windows directory using File Explorer.

I don't get it...I just typed in tethering...it took me less time to find 3 new posts then it did to actually read this whole thread of replies. A simple search would have answered your yes or no, and you complained about their response. The sticky for XDA says to search for an answer before posting for a reason

probably
if you have problems with tethering, use june networks pdanet... works very well. but like it has been mentioned, turning off the proxy and using isp.cingular should work.
I don't think Internet Sharing is found in WINDOWS using File Explorer on WM6.1 (AT&T version).

My Question is, WHY both markets are different? I live in Pakistan and I was wondering why we dont get the same one as shown in First Picture?
Is there any way I could get the one shown in First Picture?
Someone gave me an idea that MarketUnlocker is there for this reason. But i have tried playing with it and i was unable to get my desired results.
Anyone have any idea about it?
The one in the first picture is for the states (or places that have Google Music, Video Books). Currently not available in all countries and while you may figure out how to get it it will still be useless as I am sure you will still need a US credit to purchase anything from Google Books for example. Or a US address to have the Galaxy Nexus delivered etc

Hey! Thanks for the prompt response
I thought they would've SOMETHING which is free. Would it hurt if i download some "Free" music or books from Google Play Store? You know what i mean ...
So everything is paid there? And are you saying its impossible for me to get it on my device?

Yes of course it's paid else you could order a free GNex
And also yes it is possible to get it by using a US proxy but I don't see the point in doing so

With the same Market Unlocker Pro version I guess?
Well i will try to do that, just to settle my curiosity. Otherwise, i get your point that there is no benefit for doing that.
Lastly, Thank you very much for the prompt response. Appreciate it

[Q] 3 steps..2 steps from being a developer?

Hello Everyone.
I purchased the t-mobile version Moto X and when I tap the build # in the about phone section it states that I'm a certain number of steps from being a developer. I tapped it once and it said you are 3 steps away. I tapped it again and it said I am 2 steps away. I stopped there as I'm not sure what this would do to my phone. Any info on this subject would be appreciated.

Just gives you developer options where you can turn on USB debugging and more options. Its no buggy and won't explode, implode or self destruct
Sent on my Moto X
And gives you the ability to change animation scales, just makes things that much more snappy in my opinion.

And, of course: ART!! To blow away those pathetic iPhone friends of yours with the fast graphics - but don't tell them about the calendar storage and FC bugs in it...
Thanks for the info and replies everyone. I did some research with the information everyone supplied and think I would like to try the developer mode and play with some of the options. Once I put the phone in developer mode can I revert it back to the way it was, or is it a non issue?
I'm pretty sure doing this will not void my warranty, is that correct? ART looks interesting to me as well and I would like to try it. Would it be better to wait until 4.4.2 releases to put the phone in DM and try some options?

Mobile hotspot Sprint

I tried the Sprint lg g4 mobile hotspot hack, its working but Sprint still sees my data usage which i used 90% already! Is there a way for Sprint not to see my usage? My firmware is zv6 please need help with this
If you root you can use WIFI Tether Router. That is why I never liked this method. But I don't think you will get flagged. Just don't abuse it.
By the way USB Tether works great and is legit. Bluetooth works too but pretty slow.
To clarify the question: are you trying to get unlimited data, as in you don't want Sprint to know how much data you are using on your plan, so you can just pay for 1 GB but have unlimited use?

That's not how it works. This allows you data through your phone up to your cap (then you hit overages). You have to be on an unlimited plan to get unlimited data.

There is absolutely, positively, without a doubt, ZERO way for you to hide your data usage from Sprint.
So long as a device on your account is registering to their network and requesting bandwidth, they're going to know who requested it.
If there were a way to use the network without registering your device, I can almost guarantee you that you wouldn't find the method on these forums. I'm on quite a few forums for reverse engineering, etc and just like with major holes that allow you to activate expensive software without paying for it, the method to do so would be kept a closely guarded secret in Elite forums where you'd have to prove yourself by being in VIP forums and not leaking anything, for a long time or be responsible for discovering hacks/exploits/etc.
When stuff like that is discovered, the more people know and exploit it, the more risky it is that Sprint will notice and patch the hole, or someone will tell a friend that's got a big damn mouth and next thing you know it's all over public forums like these and sprint pushes a network hot fix in less time than it takes the initial thread to have a second page of replies.
