[Q] Herobound quits unexpectedly right after title screen - Samsung Gear VR

I have downloaded and successfully run every app/game/experience except Herobound.
The issue:
After the title screen, I see about 2 seconds of the inside of a house. Then an Android OS popup window shows up stating that "Herobound has quit unexpectedly". I then get punted out to the GearVR menu - and the Android OS popup window persist with no way to get rid of it (unless I disconnect the phone from the GearVR)
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling to no avail.
Any thoughts (or had anyone had the same issue)?

What cpu?

I have the T-mobile Note 4 (not sure of the exact cpu - as every site just states a generic "2.7ghz quad-core").
I am running a custom rom: FireKat v6 (with the AEL kernel installed)

Issue may be better suited for FireKat / AEL thread.

mine does the exact same thing on my developer edition note 4

Have you tried a different version of AEL kernel? Im on firekat v7 and AEL kernel 4.9. Ill give it a try tonight to see if I have the same issue.

samsung apps in gear manager

My version of gear manager will not let me access samsung apps. Hitting that button simply causes the program to freeze. I then have to manually force close it. Why is this? How do I rectify it. BTW, I have installed the newer versions of the app...

I assume it is because you are not running the newest software. Mine does the same thing but I am still on 4.2.1

how do I do this? when i go to samsung apps, it tells me to dl the newest version via the phone...but the phone just crashes as i described before.
Looks like the app needs whatever bloatware you removed.

Touch Control Still works for 4.4.3! (Tap screen to wake)

In case you don't know, you can install this guy so you can double tap your screen to wake:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/app-mod-touchcontrol-nexus-4-t2101488
I've been using it for 4.4.2, and I was worried that it wouldn't work for 4.4.3, but it still does. You just need this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/kernel-semaphore-n4-2-0-0-t2232898
Semaphore 2.2.2 and you'll be all set.
I spent an entire afternoon figuring this out by trial and error. Hopefully this saves you all some time.
How is it possible? All modules are removed from the server.app itself is fine from play store. No module, no touch control feature..
Semaphore has for its own dt2w feature
Sent from my rastakat powdered Nexus
I still can download the module in-app though.
However, in the future I foresee it will be down soon.
Any dev is going to reinvent something like touch control? I bet with right marketing it can do well. I am willing to pay for that provided that the dev is dedicated :S
WIFI LOST
I use NEXUS 4 with android 4.4.3
I tried to install Touch Control as per your suggestion but unfortunately after installation I cannot turn-on my WIFI
I tried to load Semaphore 2.2.1 (because there is no Semaphore 2.2.2) but it said I cannot use that Kernel (i don't know why)
Then it search automatically available Kernel and install directly, after finish then my Nexus 4 reboot automatically, after reboot I cannot turn-on my WIFI, it only show "Turning Wi-Fi on..." but never turn-on
Is this problem happen with your phone also? What to do now?

Same here. I'm planning to use a different ROM like 'bricked' to enable slide2wake as touch control is dead.
The solution
Hi,
You can download the 2.2.2 here : www dot semaphore.gr/kernels/Semaphore_N4_2.2.2.zip
After flash this kernel, I reboot my phone, then I start TouchControl for the first time (uninstall/install before). The app ask to load the module, say yes and select the kernel named "Semaphore 2.2.1" and now my wifi work perfectly!
(Sorry for my bad english)
sure?

Are you sure that the kernel is installed 2.2.2?
I think we should uninstall "touch control" before installing the kernel.
On reboot,reinstall "Touch Control".
At the first launch of "Touch Control", the app ask me the kernel and I choose "semaphore 2.2.1".
I hope it helps you.

When you go to the "about the phone" menu, what is the kernel version? For me it's "3.4.91-Semaphore_N4_2.2.2".
To my knowledge, it's not possible to install the Semaphore kernel from the play store.
You can download the zip file from here : www dot semaphore.gr/kernels/Semaphore_N4_2.2.2.zip
And install it with your recovery with the "install from zip" option.

app download gives -505 error code

I have 3 apps that when I try to download (after flashing a rom) that give me an "unknown error code during application install -505"
Thoughts?
I've cleared cache and data and forced stopped the play store...
I've checked to see if any folders or files are in root or in data/data and I found some and deleted but nothing. Still won't download.

i had one that got that code. what i did to fix this is i found that app using google(not play store), installed it that way, then uninstalled it via the pkay store, then reinstalled it in the play store.
Yea I'm getting that problem with Terminal Emulator for Android by Jack Palevich. Not sure what the deal is. Aggravating since ROM Toolbox Terminal FC, and another that I've tried. Rastapop with leanKernel.
Last time that happened to me I fixed it by using Root Explorer (any file manager with root access should work tho) and deleted the "com.appname......" file from data/data partition from system root level, not SD.
Then went back to Play Store and installed fine.

Yes, it's a -505 error. That's the only app I've had that problem with, though I don't download too many. I just want a terminal app to use with leanKernel so I can access lkconfig. I am thinking it might have something to do with me being on rastapop which is 5.0.1, what version and/or ROM are you using?
@saddog5523 I'm on euphoria beta, about to dirty flash to the latest version 1.0 off beta.
This -505 sucks...

I have no twrp backup of the play store or my apps.
Strangely the download happens from the play store, it's the install that hoses up. Making me think I have some file somewhere shettin bricks on the install.
I feel like I've tried everything.
Well. My main issue was with Terminal Emulator for Android by Jack Palevich. I clean flashed the new 5.0.1 and wiped/factory reset my device. Still had the same 505 error. It was crazy aggravating. I Google'd it to see if anyone else had the same issue, and found out that it was a permissions issue: http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...deal-with-unknown-installation-error-code-505
Every time I tried to access the baked in terminal emulator within Rom Toolbox Lite, it would force close the app. I got aggravated at Rom Toolbox Lite and uninstalled it, and while I was in the play store, decided to try Terminal Emulator for Android again. This time it worked. I uninstalled Terminal and installed Rom Toolbox Lite to test my new theory, and found that the two apps do not play well with each other for some reason. Even when I try to install Rom Toolbox Lite after I already have Terminal installed, it would give me the same 505 error. Apparently I can have one or the other, which honestly makes no sense at all.
I'm guessing that error could be fixed (possibly) by uninstalling applications that have the same feature. i.e. Terminal Emulator for Android and Rom Toolbox Lite. One of the apps you have installed might be causing the error in trying to install another app. Hope this helps someone with the same issue.

Are you running 5.0.1 ? I had this issue with an app when I first got my phone and with some research found out the problem was apparently fixed in the 5.0.1 OTA, well it fixed it for me. This is one of the changes that fixes it.

Are you running the stock ROM?
The problem is explained here in more detail. You basically have to uninstall whatever is conflicting with the app install. A logcat should be able to tell you where the conflict is.

Thanks. Yes, I'm running the stock ROM and not rooted. It's basically just out of the box and with the 5.0.1 OTA update. The conflict is between Pure Calendar Widget and GTasks. If I uninstall one app, the other will install. But if I try to install _both_, I get the 505 error. Is there any way around this? The post you linked to says that this has been fixed in 5.0.1, but it doesn't look like that to me.
Thanks!

I honestly think it's something either the developers will have to work out in a new version of their app, or Google will have to fix in a new phone update. Whichever comes first. 5.0.1 was supposed to fix it, but like you and I and others have noticed, it's still a problem. You're just going to have to use one or the other for now.
so, what you're saying is we're pretty much SOL until it is actually fixed...
the thing is, google is saying they fixed it on 5.0.1
if it's not actually fixed then people who can report it, should report it...
I do not have the permissions or "prestige" to post on StackOverFlow or code.google.com to say that the bug has not been fixed...

ME176CX Lollipop Update Reinstallation?

I was wondering if its possible to reinstall android lollipop because i have done something bad, i changed cpu values and the tablet now reboots for no reason quite a lot.. and ive been seeing some lags after ive done it so i would like to reinstall the lollipop update, is it possible? if so how? Help would be appreciated
Hi Ruben,
look for the "temporary Recovery" method in the forum and reinstall NOT the update but the full release of the newest release of Lollipop
by ASUS (ASUS second attempt) to install everything from ground up.
For me that worked.
BACKUP FIRST! You may loose the stuff you installed.
One thread, which shows me what to do is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/memo-pad-7/help/asus-memopad-7-me176cx-1e041a-otg-t3156922
Usual disclaimer applies here.
Good luck
tuxic
PS: If the reason for the reboots is a misconfigured CPU...what about reconfiguring that before doing "the whole thing" ?
Did you tried to overclock?

i did tried to overlock the cpu to 1.8ghz and it worked fine but now it heats a lot and i dont know the default cpu clock.... thats why i wanted to reinstall lollipop, but also because lollipop is very laggy and cant even make any type of multitasking... and can you explain to me why is xposed making the device laggy? its really weird.
Hi Ruben,
hmmmmm....I also use Lollipop on my device combined with XPosed/Xposed Modules and Nova Launcher Prime...I did not
have any lagging, which would mind me.
I put a lot stuff onto SDcard via Link2SD, so when the tablet is powered up (switched on), it takes a moment before the OS
mounts the SDcard and after that the icons get loaded...but after that...
Or did you mean lagging when it comes to game performance? ...
There must be another reason for the performance problems.
I would suggest to install "Wakelock Detector Free" and "System Monitor" (both free) and to check, whether there is a
program which steals CPU cycles while acting as background task.
Good Luck!
Best regards,
tuxic

Problems with my Note 5

Hi guys,
I rooted + installed Xposed on my Note 5 a couple months back and it's been working fine until today when a couple calls dropped out randomly. It then gave me an error saying "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" and it also said something like "Messages has stopped". I lost reception, and when I tried to open my Messages app it crashed straight away.
I restarted about 10 times, and did a factory reset through recovery mode (twice) and still had the same issue.
I then tried to install Dr Ketan ROM using the instructions in this post. I followed the instructions perfectly but I keep getting a "KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING" error and it gets stuck at that screen and won't boot. I've left it for up to 30mins and still no luck. I've done a factory reset a few times and tried installing Dr Ketan ROM twice now. I'm using the 920i kernel so shouldn't be an issue.
I don't really care about root and custom ROM (I'd actually prefer to stay away) so I might try flash a stock ROM. Any other thoughts/advice/tips? Anyone know why I had the first issue, or why I'm having the issue not being able to boot?
I'm on my phone 24/7 for work so need it fixed ASAP!!
Cheers

hi,
Firstly, I must say my Note5 is not rooted, stock Rom.
Marshmallow.
Secondly, when reading your post above it reminded me
of similar issues i had in past with my old Note 3, /Note4
I also had "this stopping and that stopping"
(Similar as you.)
Found the culprit to be Xposed Framework.
As well as some modules you used/install
in Xposed.
After uninstalling Xposed and modules, factory
resetting (just like you) etc i still had issues.
Flashed stock Rom afterwards and eventually
managed to sort issues out.
( I had to flashed stock Rom, maybe about 2 or 3 times thereafter then only was it fixed. .)
So for me it sounds like, Xposed /module being
the culprit /suspect ?
I also recommend flash, your correct latest
stock Rom (make sure its the latest and correct Rom)
Good luck
Post note
what i am also saying that Xposed /module most probably "broke"replaced........" something" system framework ?
Also i used Xposed for a long time, then suddenly had issues.
