Problems with my Note 5 - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I rooted + installed Xposed on my Note 5 a couple months back and it's been working fine until today when a couple calls dropped out randomly. It then gave me an error saying "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" and it also said something like "Messages has stopped". I lost reception, and when I tried to open my Messages app it crashed straight away.
I restarted about 10 times, and did a factory reset through recovery mode (twice) and still had the same issue.
I then tried to install Dr Ketan ROM using the instructions in this post. I followed the instructions perfectly but I keep getting a "KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING" error and it gets stuck at that screen and won't boot. I've left it for up to 30mins and still no luck. I've done a factory reset a few times and tried installing Dr Ketan ROM twice now. I'm using the 920i kernel so shouldn't be an issue.
I don't really care about root and custom ROM (I'd actually prefer to stay away) so I might try flash a stock ROM. Any other thoughts/advice/tips? Anyone know why I had the first issue, or why I'm having the issue not being able to boot?
I'm on my phone 24/7 for work so need it fixed ASAP!!
Cheers

hi,
Firstly, I must say my Note5 is not rooted, stock Rom.
Marshmallow.
Secondly, when reading your post above it reminded me
of similar issues i had in past with my old Note 3, /Note4
I also had "this stopping and that stopping"
(Similar as you.)
Found the culprit to be Xposed Framework.
As well as some modules you used/install
in Xposed.
After uninstalling Xposed and modules, factory
resetting (just like you) etc i still had issues.
Flashed stock Rom afterwards and eventually
managed to sort issues out.
( I had to flashed stock Rom, maybe about 2 or 3 times thereafter then only was it fixed. .)
So for me it sounds like, Xposed /module being
the culprit /suspect ?
I also recommend flash, your correct latest
stock Rom (make sure its the latest and correct Rom)
Good luck
Post note
what i am also saying that Xposed /module most probably "broke"replaced........" something" system framework ?
Also i used Xposed for a long time, then suddenly had issues.

All sorted - I had to flash stock ROM through Odin. This was my only way out!!

[Help req] Galaxy S unresponsive !

Hello Guys.
I actually have a problem. I flashed my phone with the firmware which has the bootloader on it. Gingerbread 2.3.3. JVJPG
It worked perfectly for about 2-3 weeks. Then i did something foolish. i forcestopped the 'maps' process . Thought it might free up some RAM.
now after that i continuously been getting the 'maps has been unresponsive and would forced stop' message on the phone. So to get rid of it I flashed the phone against thinking it would reinstall . But no. I kept getting that message after flashing aswell together with OTHER APPS also started giving the message.
i have cleared the cachet and factory reset the phone BUT STILL those APPS remain on the phone. they dont work just continuously gives the force stopped messages. The camera works but doesn't save the pics. Any app i want to d/L . it doesnt install says something about ' package is unresponsive'.
Thankfully the downland mode works. I flashed it yet again with FROYO but now it seem like the whole system has crashed !!
The wierd thing is that APPS dont seem to get uninstalled and no date is lost even after factory reset.
Can anyone help me with this ?
Also even if i uninstall the apps. after restarting the phone. they just remain on the phone !
but don't work
Got the firmware for this thead:

I get the following unresponsive and need to close down messages :
google partner setup
Google services framework
maps
etc.
Also process system is unresponsive.
Flash back to stock firmware, install a kernel with CWM recovery, download your chosen rom, before installing, reboot into recovery, before installing, got to mounts and storage, format system, data, cache and datadata, then wipe dalvik, then install custom rom all should be fine after that let me know bud

Thanks a lot Djice for the reply. I had an inkling that i had to meddle with the kernel now :s
The problem is I have never meddling with the kernel before. Can you help me find a suitable tutorial for all those steps?
I'll search for em as well.
Guys, Any detailed help?
havn't been able to solve the problem still.

[Q] AT&T Software Update - Fails due to low battery

I've tried searching, but didn't seem to get anything on this one.
I've been trying to install the OTA Update to 4.3 for a minute, now... Currently, I've got the update downloaded, but it won't continue b/c it's saying the battery is too low. The thing is, the battery is at 100%. It is also plugged into a charger... Tried it with and without.
Here's info on my phone:
MJ5
Rooted via Kingo
Xposed Installer installed (very few modules installed - nothing hardcore)
RootCloak [1.4] installed in order to hide root status from the OTA update service
I have a bit of bloat uninstalled by Titanium Backup... But, that was all AT&T stuff like Navigator - I left the OTA service in place. I froze some Samsung bloat, but didn't uninstall it.
Any ideas on why I'm getting this error?
You have to be unrooted. At least that what I hear . When I got the update I did a factory reset and downloaded the update and installed with no issues.

Blargh. I unrooted via Kingo, rebooted and I am still getting the same low battery error.
I really don't want to have to do a factory reset...... Are there any other options?
Ah, great. Now Kingo won't re-root the phone. Looks like factory reset is what I'll be spending my evening doing.
Great. Did a factory reset, and went to update. It failed; said the installation was interrupted.
I tried two more times... Same results. This is getting pretty frustrating...

Unfortunately nothing will work except restoring back to stock. I had to do that for the last 2 updates we've received. I just did it to get the last update and I am staying stock until Kitkat arrives then will look for a root solution. I know, it sucks.

If you didn't uninstall the Xposed modules the uninstall Xposed that could be your issue right there. Try uninstalling everything root then try again.

Well, at this point, I have done a factory reset several times. No root, nothing installed.
Knox keeps giving me a notification that it's blocking a process... I can download the update and start the install process. Once the phone reboots and the AT&T splash screen comes up, the progress bar will start and get to about 20%, then the phone will restart, then boot normally. Once booted, it will go to the Update page and then say that the installation was interrupted.
What... the... heck... I thought a factory reset restored the phone to like how it was from the factory? I notice my keyboard is the old version, too. When I bought the phone, I had the updated keyboard with punctuation for long-key presses.
Any insights?

Factory reset just wipes your data and cache. It will not reinstall the system files. When you rooted you directly modified some of your system files via root access. Simple solution however. Follow these steps as mentioned before by theorioles33 using Odin and Heimdall. Takes about 10 mins (maybe 30 if its ur first time) Follow every step to the T and when ur back to stock try the OTA. Good Luck!

[Q] Superuser not in apps after root

Hi, Have tried in last few weeks to update Ace from Gingerbread to Kitkat. Successful but then had overheating and random shutdowns after installing S2E although I have no way of knowing if that was the cause! Then tried to update from within the Ace to RC11. Total failure. Lost menu and back button and keyboard. Tried to go back by reinstalling CM11 but that left me with a setup screen and the message "unfortunately the setup wizard has stopped". Only answer was to use Odin and reinstall official stock kernel. My thanks to brijeshep for that.
So decided to try again but stupidly installed cwm before Upd_1.zip, which would not install from cwm. Used root_cooper.zip (thanks again) and got a success message and phone now rooted. However, "superuser" is not in apps, which it was first time around. How can I check that it is rooted before installing KitKat again?
Any advice on this gratefully received.
Try Root Checker
Tried that! Not enough memory!! Which is why I was trying to root and then install CM11 and S2E. Managed to reinstall stock rom thanks to Odin and then rooted no problem with upd1. Have now installed CM11 running 4.4.4 and will wait a few days before installing any apps apart from gmail and will try S2E if it will work with the 4.4.4. rom.
But thanks anyway for taking the trouble to reply.
ReBoot 1or2

Hi There,
you can download the app called Root Checker.apk to check your root status whether you are rooted or not. And then you can manually installed SuperSu or Super User

Having a lot of issues after rooting.

I just rooted my phone and installed TWRP. My phone was working flawlessly before the root. There was absoultely no lag and everything was working great. I just rooted and it all went to hell. Here are some issues I'm having:
Lag. Every 20 seconds my phone kind of freezes for 2-3 seconds. So if I click sometime or type something during that lag, it freezes for 3 seconds and than completes the task I was doing. Really annoying because its happening so often.
Exposed isn't working right. Every time I try to install a module it gets stuck on the "installing" screen. Takes way to long to install something. I just installed Wanam and it seriously took about 2 mins.
Wanam isn't working at all. When I open the app and click something nothing happens. It's frozen completely. Than I get a pop up that wanam isn't responding would you like to close it? I've restarted my phone about 10 times.
The experience is just bad now. the lag and all these issues.. I wish I didn't root. I read that it's something do with S-Health and deleting its data and cache should help. I did that and it's still the same.
Please help!
Odin back to stock and start
over.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Did you try a clean install deleting everything and Flashing rom again? If so and still having issues try Flashing stock firmware from samsung mobile with Odin...

I guess I'll factory reset and redo the process. Really didn't wanna do that though lol. Worked forever to set it up the way I like it.
Ya know how you feel I'm on my second note 4 my first was a dud and had to get a new one but probably did 4 resets trying different settings and talking to tech support but good luck
Did you flash a custom rom? I think being stock rooted is the problem. Mine was acting up a bit while running stock rooted 'til I took the plunge and flashed firekat.
I'd be willing to bet if you flashed any rom your problems would be over. Including the stock ones in development.
Samsung has you in a funny situation 'til you flash.

Do any of the ROMs offer s-pen support? Would I be able to, say, freeze S Note, flash firekat, and then unfreeze the S Note app and have it function properly?
Firekat comes with s-note. No need to freeze and reinstall.
In fact he just gave out the apk for sketchbook for galaxy in his rom thread.
PS.
Flashing a custom rom at this point is not that much different than stock or stock rooted.
It's just the hiccups are taken out by the best of the best.
All the roms have s-pen working.
If you flash firekat following the instructions in the op.
S-note will be included and work for you.

it happened to me, it was with xposed and wanam,,, I just installed my stock odex rom tethering rom, and install SU and restored all my apps with titanium backup, except xposed and wanam, everything is working great, goto the theme and app section, foreverloco has the inverted apps, and I am super happy this way, I just delete the bloat apps from my rom and goto go...
Noticed that Xposed was a bit wonky for me at first today too but things settled down. I basically focused on getting S-Health working first and it seemed like once I got XSecureStorage installed to address S-Health things went smoothly thereafter.
OP. Exact thing happened to me and I freaked out. I forgot about flashing stock image and went to t mobile and got an exchange. Basically I'm scared to do it again.

[Q] Note 4 Lag and Fingerprint not working - tried everything

Hi everyone, OK I've tried everything in other threads, here's the situation:
Note 4 Sprint
cf-auto-root worked fine, everything working well for a week (stock recovery, stock ROM, just root). Then installed xposed (accidentally used the experimental 2.7 version) and RootCloak module. This threw me into a boot loop.
I recovered from it by redoing cf-auto-root/odin. That got me out of the loop, but-
Ever since then:
- Phone lags for a few seconds every few seconds - making it hard to even type in a phone number, let alone watch a video,
- Fingerprint doesn't work - when launching the menu from settings I get an error that it's unavailable.
I've tried everything in the other threads:
- build.prop change (disabling securestorage)
- successfully installed 2.6 xposed and tried:
- wanam xposed to disable securestorage
- and the xsecurestorage module
- flashed stock rom from sammobile with odin
- even tried disabling selinux with wanam
No matter what, these same issues. I haven't tried anything other than the stock rom. Any ideas at all? Is there a different ROM out there I should try? Does that even have a chance of working?
I'm not sure I understand why flashing stock didn't fix it - even though it caused me to lose root...
Right now I have TWRP with root and stock ROM.
Any ideas or suggestions really appreciated.. I'm out of ideas. Thanks
I have the Same Problem
I had the same problem, haven't bothered installing it again since, don't suppose anyone has heard from the developers?
Hope maybe the devs can shed some light here. Is there anything else I can do? Flashing stock didn't even help. What's left?
So after not touching anything for about a week - things started running smoothly. Very odd - didn't change anything. Xposed was uninstalled for that time.
But, after SuperSU updated (and updated the binary/rebooted), the lag came back. So, this is telling me this may be related to root/SuperSU instead.
