The power button broke on my Note 3, i reassemble the phone hopping to fix the problem, i found out the small dome shape piece of metal is out of its place and there is no way to put it back, also there is a tiny piece of clear reddish plastic to cover that metal dome, i found the whole circuit in amazon and i ordered one.
i closed the phone back after connecting all connectors back, i did that very carefully.
when i connect the charger (the phone is off) a gray battery icon shows for a couple of seconds then the phone screen become bright white for few seconds then turned off, the charging LED indicator is off. usually the battery icon changes to green with 5 green dots underneath it indicating the phone is charging.
if i disconnect the charging cable and put it back nothing happened, if i disconnect and connect the battery then plug the charger, the gray icon an white screen scenario above happened again.
I remove the battery overnight and tried it this morning, i got the same behavior again.
any help is really appreciated.
Phone: unlock ATT note 3 with custom ROM.
WOW, am I the only lucky one with this problem???
I found out that the battery is really charging, but neither led nor the screen are indicating anything, I figured it out when i noticed the battery is worm,
Also i was able to manage to boot my device by connecting the charger while pressing the Volume down and home button, i was able to go to download mode then restart the phone using volume up.
the phone is charging fine when it is on.
Not sure about the main issue if it caused by the Power button or something else.
Update:
I have a bad ROM causing too many problem, I flashed to NC2 4.4.2 and every thing is working, no wonder why nobody has this issue.
Thanks,

I have spent 2 hours looking at forums and none have solved my problem. I will try and state as best possible of what is and what has happened.
When I take the battery out and plug in the charger, it displays a red light at the top left. Sometimes, depending on how long I wait, when I put the battery back in, it either has no lights or turns to Orange. Once, when it turn to Orange, I did a soft reset and it went to the white AT&T screen and just stayed there. I hit the soft reset again and it went to the Red, Green, Blue and White Screen. After seraching, I found out that it was called the bootloader screen. But on mine, there is no writing whatsover, like serial or whatever...just the color bars. When I try and plug it up to the usb on my computer I get nothing. It looks like it will not soft reset unless I put the battery back in and the light goes Orange, that's the only timw it will do it. If I put the battery in and it turns the red light off...it will not do anything...nothing.
Can somebody PLEASE help me try and figure out what to do here? I don't think I will be able to load anything on it since nothing happens when I plug in the usb to the computer.
Thanks for taking the time for listening. And also, I have not loaded anything for 2-3 weeks now onto the phone and this just happened late last night. Thanks again!
Monty
Update...had the battery out and nothing plugged into it for about 30 minutes. Put the Battery in, it powered up, went to the first AT&T screen and immediately went back dead again. If I put the battery in and hook it to the charger, it doesn't charge...so I don't think it is the issue with a dead battery...maybe?
PLEASE HELP...Can't really afford another phone right now.
Sounds like you need a new battery.
But should it power up with the phone charger plugged in...good battery or not?
I don't think so, these phones are pretty strange when it comes to bad batterys. Hopefully you know someone with a tilt that you can swap batterys with.
Even if the battery is dead, it should still start the phone and not go into boot loader. Do you have the OEM or a custom ROM? YOu may also want to try and hard reset. Press and hold the 2 dash buttons down (the ones above messages and internet); the while holding them down, insert the stylis into the reset hole, and let the phone reset. once it resets and goes to the hard reset gray screen, let go of the dash buttons. Then when it asks if you want to reset, press the green send button and let the phone hardrest.
If the battery is dead, and will not charge, the phone should not turn on (at least that was my experence, when I had a bad battery). This is just very wierd
Update #2 - I just went to Batteries Plus and they checked the Battery and said it had absolutely nothing...maybe those times it came up completely drained it.
So I forked out $40 bucks for a new battery and they told me to fully charge it before use. So I put it in the phone, plugged the charger into the phone and it looks as though nothing is happening because there are no lights on whatsoever...itsn't there supposed to be?
I have the OEM Rom.
Should I try the hard reset even though the new battery is not fully charged yet?
I wouldn't.
Your phone might be so dead that it doesn't charge the battery, I've seen this in laptops and other devices.
Update 3 - Since it looked as though nothing was happening, I tried the power buttong and nothing...so I took the battery back out, and the red light came on with the charger only plugged in. I tried to put the battery back in a few times and I finally have an orange light lit up while the battery is in and pluuged up to the charger...does that mean it's charging? The light will turn green once fully charged, correct? Anyone know about how long that would take if that's the case?
turn it on, it's a lithium ion battery, it doesn't have a memory.
It's plugged into the charger, orange light is on, but when I press and even hold down the power button, nothing happens????? UGGGHHHHHH
Should I try a soft or hard reset? Want to ask before I do.
Okay...I did a soft reset and it boots up now....for 3 time it went all the way to the main screen and then rebooted itself...now when it rebooted it went to the Red, Green, Blue and White bar screen. There is no writing on the screen, just color bars. Any suggestions?
Just to say... I don't think it's a good idea to have the phone plugged in without the battery...
My wife dropped her phone from about 4 feet high. There is no visible physical damage, but the battery popped out at impact. However, after she put everything back together, her phone won't turn on. When I connected the phone to the charger (with battery inside), I saw a green battery icon with a red exclamation in a circle near the upper right of the battery icon. The light indicators then flashed orange and green alternately. After a few minutes, it just shut down again. My PC wouldn't recognize the phone either while connected.
What can be done to revive the phone or salvage the data?
Thanks in advance.
It turns out it's connector issue, one of the pins for the battery was bent.
EDIT: FIXED
i know this has been posted many times and i have yet to find a solution that has worked for me
I put my phone to charge before going to sleep and everything was fine, but when i woke up and tried to check the time my screen would not turn on
i noticed the light was a static green with blinking orange and even when the charger was disconnected the green was still there and still blinking orange
ive held the power and volume buttons and tried charging it more but nothing the notification light is still green and orange the soft keys are black
i also tried hooking the phone up to my pc and preform adb commands to get it to reboot :crying:
im on the VZW HTC One rooted with custom rom
Any help or diagnosis would be appreciated
try...
I would try cooling the phone down by placing it in an air tight bag then leaving it in the freezer switched off for about 15 mins
Then try switching it on.....
With my phone i had the same issue.... when i opened up the phone to look at the problem. I realised that there was some moisture corrosion on the LCD Screen cable.... easy fix - just clean cable ends with circuit board cleaner.
Try it and see what happens.
Hi
I’m wondering if anybody has any advice regarding my problem. I have looked here and tried what has been suggested.
My stock, never rooted, never flashed, Xperia T (think it was Android 4.3 but can’t now check, the latest Sony rolled out) was working fine until yesterday. I was on a plane and noticed it had 20% battery life left so I plugged it into the onboard USB port. The problem is I think I hay have plugged the cable into the port the work way round – not the connection on the phone, but the actual USB socket. This should be impossible but somebody obviously had broken the port and it turned out the cable could be plugged in both ways! (I don’t know if it was plugged in the wrong way round but is the only thing that could possible explain the sudden death.)
Could this have bricked it? I suddenly couldn’t get a red light to show charging and holding down power on and volume up or down does nothing. I tried charging overnight via a wall socket when I got home but the result is still the same. Just a black screen and no sign of life. I have also tried plugging it into a computer with Sony’s PC Companion but as the phone is not ‘on’, it can’t be found.
Does anybody have any advice where to go from here? I’m more concerned about some recent data from holiday on the phone than the actual handset itself. If the phone is dead, is there any way to read the internal memory?
Thanks
Try this: Unplug the charger, press the power button. The phone won’t power up because there is no charge left in the battery. But press the power button along and while doing so, connect the charger without releasing the button. Now, you will probably see the red light. Please don’t take off your finger from the power button for around 1 to 2 minutes when the red light for charging will glow continuously. If you feel tired holding it, you can try sticking a tape on it in it’s pressed mode. Once you are sure that the phone is now charging the battery again(red light keeps glowing even after the power button is released) kindly wait for 5 to 10 minutes or may be more before you press the power button again to power the phone up. Now the phone will be up and running
If that doesnt work maybe ur battery is dead or usb port broken
Thanks for the advice. I gave that a go after trying a 24h wall charge and not touching it (which did nothing).
So, I held the power down, plugged it in but nothing. I held it down for around 5 minutes both manually and then repeated the process using the rubber band trick to keep the button held down but no red light ever came on. I think I’m going to try a new battery as I genuinely see that I have nothing to lose as I doubt it will be possible for anybody to recovery data given as the phone can’t be switched on so if I break it further I’m in no worse position!
Thanks again for trying to help though!:good:
When I got my xperia t it was in described condition. I also tried everything (rubberband trick and so on) but the only thing working was to open it and pull and put in again the plug of the battery. After that it booted immediately and I got this sleep-of-death-thing nearly every day... Since I soldered the battery as described in this Topic it happens only ~once a week. Good luck!
SOLVED! In preparation for the new battery arriving, I decided to take the back cover off. I unhooked the top battery connector and decided to connect it back up again, just to see if it did anything. Plugged in the charger and a red light came on straight away! I let it charge for a good couple of hours and switched it on – not as easy without the case attached – and it worked. I’m so frustrated with it being such a simple issue as needing to disconnect the battery but even more frustrated with the design that it is meant to be a ‘sealed’ unit with a non-removable battery. I used to often need to disconnect my old Omnia II battery to restart it but that was a simple case of cover off, remove battery, replace battery , put cover back on, not the creaky, back cover fear of cracking exercise of yesterday. Still it’s working now and hopefully life in the old phone yet!

Nice to see that bro!
Maybe not the right sub-forum for this, but for some reason I show as not logged in on the Guides sub-forum.....
Long story short, I removed the shattered back of my phone for replacement, and in the process it appears I did something that broke the power and volume buttons. I don't know what broke, it all looks good, but I used a blade to lift the cover and in retrospect, I think heat and a suction cup would have been better.
I tried rebooting prior to installing the new rear cover, and lucky I did because I needed access to finally fix it. The buttons were completely dead, nothing worked, but if I plugged in power, it started charging, so I knew the battery and screen were still good. From adb, the device was there but unauthorized, so I was unable to boot that way (I've since rebooted and turned on USB debugging, but evidently it uses the vendor keys still when in recharge mode, and it still showed unauthorized).
None of the local shops were any help, I suspected that if I could get the boot sequence to start all would be good, and this turned out to be the case, but they were all clueless about anything other than changing the battery or the screen.
Anyway, onto the solution. The first time I got it to boot, I simply disconnected the battery, then plugged in the power using the Xiaomi charger, it wouldn't boot at all from USB power, it would only charge. As soon as I plugged it in, the power sequence started and the phone booted and ran fine. I pushed the battery connector back into place and all was good, except the problem of what happens if I power it off.
I went to developer options, checked USB debugging, and powered off, confident that even if I still couldn't see it in charging mode, I'd at least be able to manually power it on after disconnecting the battery. Well, of course, the second time it didn't work. ADB was still unauthorized, and the battery disconnection trick didn't work, it started to boot but then appeared to lose power and the screen faded. This gave me a clue that it might be possible to use the wireless charging to get it to boot, but the problem with that was that it wouldn't wirelessly charge with the battery disconnected. In the end, what worked was to loosely hold the battery connector with my finger over the contacts, while holding the phone against the wireless charger (I have the Xiaomi 65W wireless charger), in this state the battery reads 15% even though it's full, but the phone boots. I then pushed down to fully connect the battery, at which point it read 100% and was booted. It's super-fiddly to hold it all in the right position, but perseverance pays off. If you lose the connection to the battery completely at any point, the phone simply dies.
To get to the battery connection on the Mi 9 Pro, lift the wireless pad, at the top right corner of the battery you'll see a short flat black cable that runs towards the centre of the battery and then up to connect to the motherboard. Lift up on that connector with something thin to pop it off. When rebooting, hold your index finger on the connector with enough pressure to make a contact without fully reconnecting it, while holding the wireless pad against the charger. Why the hell this works I have no idea, but it does.
To operate the volume/power, just download widgets. It would be nice to have a physical volume button, but doing it from the screen works.
This was a life-saver for me because I friggin' love this phone. I have the 12/512 model, and it's so good I've finally stopped fiddling with ROMS because it just works perfectly. Unfortunately, it took me a week to figure this out, and I ordered a Mi 11 Pro in the meantime!
If anyone has any good ideas about an easier way for me to reboot in case it ever powers off (a simple reboot is fine), I'm all ears. I'm currently looking at having to remove the rear cover again and go through the whole rigmarole if it ever powers off.
