Would anyone mind trying on uastring android?
When flash first came out I could watch flash vids on ESPN.com. now I can't, I've tried on stock 91, stock 33, and cyan 6 stable. I can watch if I change ua to desktop but until recently i could easily watch them like any other site. Its sort of annoying. its definitely good I can watch them but its a hassle to keep changing to desktop. I'm stock 33 right now. The vids show up but wont play.
Bump. I realize most people around here probably don't know what ESPN.com is so forgive me maybe if I keep bumping, someone who is familiar will happen across this. Thanks
I just tested it and they play fine for me. I am running the latest nightly but I doubt that matters. When I clicked the link it asked me if I wanted to play using double twist or movies. I picked movies.
I could watch in either android mode or desktop.

Thanks that's interesting. When I use desktop they work but don't ask what I want to use to play them. Come to think of it, when vids on ESPN used to work for me they never asked what I wanted to play them with. I wish I knew if clearing the browsers data or even wiping the phone could fix it, it would be a hassle but it'd be worth it. Oh well, its always something...thanks again
edit: they work when i have plug-ins set to "on demand", thats good enough for me i suppose
edit: now doesnt work "on demand" after the first time. This phone sure does test my patience frequently.
bump, just wondering if any issues watching espn videos have come up for anyone else? Im talking about the full site of course, not the mobile one.
Is there anyway the radio could be at fault? edit- nvm didnt work
Im grasping at straws here its just so irritating that the only website I want to use flash with is the only website I cant.
Im currently running a custom ROM and it still isnt working. Im on frg 33 but espn.com videos stopped working before I flashed it.
I am using Dolphin Browser HD and I watch the videos embedded in the page. They work great for me. The Volume buttons are set to scroll initially so you can go to the app settings and change it back so you can adjust volume while watching.

thanks thats interesting. I tried dolphin, i can watch vids on the espn mobile site but i still cant on the full site. I cant imagine what the problem could be since it spans stock/rooted, various roms, various browser apps and various radios, what the hell even remains consistent throughout all of that which could cause this? I love this phone but my technical difficulties sure are adding up...it would be cool if i at least had some number to call to get help with the $600 device i purchased. My fault though I did realize google wanted to forget the poor nexus one fairly early on...
Well, it is definitely slow to load up. I have dolphin set to Desktop UA. The page loads up. I click the flash player on-demand. The flash video box stays black for a little bit, then eventually the play button comes up and a commercial plays first. Then again the black box reappears and then the play symbol loads again. (this is with about 1mb/s connection or less). Its takes some patience, but its espn highlights on the go, for free, so I can't complain.
I also remember a newer version of flash player coming last week or maybe 2 weeks ago. You could try to uninstall and reinstall flash player.
When you say not loading, do you mean the flash area is black, or the area has an error message displayed?

When its set to desktop I've gotten it to work. But videos on ESPN played when set to android uastring but this was with only the first couple of adobe flash versions. At some point, after some update I guess, ESPN videos stopped working...
Here is a copy of QIK that works with video chat for the Viewsonic G Tablet
This apk was taken from from Samsung Galaxy Tab by Rothnic -- it is version 0.4.04.
I have tested this on the G Tablet use CM6.1 beta 4
I tested it with the qik that is on my evo.. the video quality had a lot to be desired.. the video quality that is broadcast over the net onto the phone looked good.. the video from the phone to the tablet looked way too zoomed.. it had a lot of artifacts.. looked like a really bad bootleg cam release
Anyhow.. thanks rothnic for the rip.. happy to have something to play with / add to my collection of working apps.
http://www.rickstoyroom.com/r2/Qik-gtab-videochat.apk ** Right click > Save as
It saves as a .zip file for me. Do I just rename it .apk??
Newbie to the G-Pad

Saved as Qik-gtab-videochat.apk for me so maybe try to download it again..
Link dead.
Does this work with the new tegra driver update? The built-in cam app no longer works so I'm guessing Qik won't get camera to work either.
I was able to get Yahoo Messenger Video Calling to work, but it's not consistent at all.
Using CM6.1B4, and restored the Yahoo app and Video add on from a Titanium Backup from my Evo.
If anybody gets this working, please let me know what tweaks you used to do it.
THANKS!
Krissy
I want to download this but the link is STILL dead.
Link works fine.. its sitting on my personal web server.. so I know for a fact that it is up.
Link works, but .zip and not .apk. No .apk inside either...
Downloaded and installed direct from my gtab (TnT Lite). Zero issue. Thanks for the upload!
Worked first try for me. Thanks
I played around with this a few weeks ago. How are you "video" chatting? I only saw the ability to send a video to your "qik" web page for others to watch and at that it had a 10-20 second delay.

I think you are using a different version of Qik. There are several versions out and you need to have the one from the Galaxy tab to have the video chat working.
What is the version #? I have 1.6. 1.89, and 2.60
downlowded from your link. Thanks.. working now
But, you can only video chat with someone who has qik on their "front facing camera" phone? You can not chat with another gtablet user on wifi correct?

You can video chat with anyone with Qik installed and a front facing camera. Doesn't matter if it is on wifi or not. I used Qik to chat with my wife from my gtab to her gtab. It sucked. Very unstable. Nothing like Skype from laptop to laptop.

Stupid work thinks the link points to a *games* site and won't let me download. Probably because the URL has toy in it.

That happens sometimes, just rename to apk.
I have a Samsung captivate, and I just finished the upgrade to the new froyo firmware. But i'm having a problem with images i get from websites on the phone. If i download the image, or set it as wallpaper it looks as though i tried to make a thumbnail a wallpaper -___-. It never did this before the updates. I haven't tried using the camera's pics. I know the images are of high quality cause they show fine on the website. The resolution is pretty good as well, just all pixelated after download. This is bugging the hell out of me, makes my phone seem outdated for such a good display. thanks in advance!
Dolphin browser hd. Firefox mobile.
I noticed the same thing. I think its caused by the browser, compressing the photo or something. I eventually caved and downloaded with my computer then used dropbox or USB to put it on my phone.
I didn't try other phone browsers though. You could try Dolphin or Miren browsers in the market and see if they save the picture in full quality.

That's something I've been *****ing about since the very first 2.2 leaks last year, actually. I originally thought it was a bug in the JI6 2.2 leak, but it turns out to be a "retarded-by-design" thing built into 2.2, as it also has the same behavior in the official i9000 2.2.1 and the official ATT kb1 2.2.
I have no idea what exactly is causing it, but for some reason you can't download images at their regular resolution using the stock browser anymore in 2.2. Some smaller images will download fine, others (usually images that are really big - 3000x2000 and whatnot) will automatically be resized and heavily compressed. You can verify this by downloading a big picture, then opening it in the gallery and noticing the drastic drop in quality.
It's only the stock browser, though. You can still download images in their full resolution with a 3rd party browser; it's just irritating to have to do that as a workaround when everything else in the stock browser works fine.
I had no idea that the stock browser did this. You would think it would at least give you the option to decide if you want to compress downloads or not. I personally use dolphin browser hd and would never bother using the stock browser for anything. Other issues I've had with the stock browser include not being able to switch my user agent (so that I'm not forced to view the mobile version of a page). And not being allow to download something just because I don't have an app that can open the file. In short, it's a pretty restricting browser imo.
There are several browsers available from the market. Dolphin HD is a good one, Opera is pretty good too.
Hey guys im just trying to see if im the only one having this problem, whenever i watch videos on websites like androidcentral or some of my favorite music sites and play audio the whole browser seems to freeze, it will still click links but wont load anything just stays on the same page and if i click refresh it does nothing, the only way to get it working again is to go to into the built in task manager and end the application and when im there it will say the browser is at 70-75 percent.
Any other people and having this problem? I figured that the espn.com website would be using html5. I have also read about it, however, when I go to the site, it tells me to install flash, which I can't do in Chrome. Even when I try playing a video on the mobile site, I get a message saying the video can't be played.
I have tried this with dolphin, boat. (with flash), Chrome, and stock browser. Nada bueno.
Works perfectly on all ios devices, iphones, iPad. Little android issues hurt my soul, and I don't want to go back to iPhone, but I pay for espn insider, and if I can't get this to work...
Sad.
Would loading their dedicated app solve this problem?

What happens when you try it with Dophin (with flash). What does it say?
Also in the settings for the browser make sure you request the desktop version of the website. I just got my Note 3 and haven't tried yet. But on My note 2 I was able to watch espn.go using the preinstalled browser (with flash) by requesting the desktop version of the website.
The espn app blows. The videos won't play on it either, but I attribute that to shoddy programming.
In Dolphin, I see the video image, but no play shows up. It's basically a static image that can't be clicked.
I have reinstalled every browser, and I also reinstalled flash several times. I still have my iPad, so I not up a creek completely.
Also, a friend of mine has the same results on his Note 3.
Annoying as hell.

crud... says not authorized to play on device when viwing desktop site even with UAV set to desktop
Solution (Must Be Rooted)
2 Solutions.
Flash Solution:
1.) Download Dolphin or UC, or Boat browser and set it to Desktop UA. (you will obviously need flash player as well)
2.) Download the libflashplayer.so.zip file I have attached. Once downloaded find the file and remove the ".zip" from the file (it was the only way I could upload the file.) File Should now be "libflashplayer.so"
3.) Place this file in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib It will advise that this file already exists (using root explorer) and ask if you want to override it. select yes. This file makes the flashplayer appear to be from a windows device. (Hulu and ESPN use this check for their media)
4.) Close all browsers then open the browser back up and you should be able to access the videos at these sites.
Chrome Solution:
1.) Download Chrome or Chrome beta from the play store.
2) Download Chrome UA from the play store
3.) Open Chrome UA and set the user agent to IPad.
4) Close the the chrome brower (If it is open) and open it back up. You should be able to watch all the videos on ESPN.com using HTML5.
Enjoy
