[Q] NFC compatibility - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I want to buy the smartphone, but i need to know the compatibility with NFC tag Mifare 1k.
Anyone with the smartphone can confirm this?
Thank you.

The Moto X cannot read/write data to 1k chips. I have confirmed it to be compatible with NTAG203. I've read that it is also compatible with Topax 512 tags as well.

Thank you for the answer. Bad news, however

Can the wireless chip read or be an NFC tag?

Hello,
Is it posssible to use the wireless chip in the Nexus One to read or create an NFC tag.
If someone hacks something together using the FM transmitter for example. And Nexus S can read the NFC data from the Nexus One?
Or is this totally different technology?
Thanks
Totally different technology here.
If you want NFC, you'd need to modify the hardware.
This is one thing that can't be hacked together. Such a thing as a microSD card NFC chip exists though.
So in the SDK is there a method for NFC through SDcard? or only for native hardware nfc?

Does the Moto X support AptX Bluetooth Audio?

Hi All
I was just wondering if anyone knew if the Moto X definitely supports AptX for bluetooth audio? I have searched around these forums for a clear answer but haven't found anything. The device isn't listed on AptX.com even though most of the Moto Droid series is, and there really hasn't been official mention of it in the specs.
If anyone out there could confirm this, and know that they have had it working on their AptX devices, I would appreciate it very much! Thanks in advance for any help.

I "think" it does. The requirement for AptX is bluetooth 4.0 which the MotoX has.
Tapatalked from my G PAD 8.3
I doubt it. Moto has to pay for aptX if they want it. Then they would have marketed it. Although it's nice to have it though. Honestly I could not tell the difference with my other aptX supported phone.

Using OnePlus 3T NFC to emulate MIFARE Classic 1K chip for accommodation access?

I've done a little research but it seems this has not been properly done before or confirmed working with this particular device and RFID chip, and I'm not sure I know enough about NFC to figure this out myself.
Apparently the OnePlus 3T contains an NPX NFC chip, which should be compatible with MIFARE Classic devices, as listed here .
Has anyone here looked into the possibility of using HCE or other standard for emulating a MIFARE Classic chip on a compatible Android device? Any information would be appreciated.

Belsee Octacore 4gb Android 8.0 Oreo

I was looking at new equipment and found a company called Belsee. Can anyone tell me more about these new units. It appears that Belsee is new and has the newest hardware.
Welcome new poster. These appear to be MTCD or variant of and with BC5 Bluetooth module, I'm not sure how these could possibly be called "newest hardware."
From reviewing their website, they are yet another reseller of vanilla MTCD units with the same issues as all others and possibly more with a BC5!
Interesting. I’m not sure why the Bluetooth unit would be a concern. What would you suggest as being the top of the line and newest?
This is the unit I am looking at http://https://www.belsee.com/belsee-aftermarket-toyota-camry-2007-2011-9-touch-dual-screen-android-8-0-oreo-double-2-din-head-unit-auto-radio.html
This is the newest version from Joying http://https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-9-inch-toyota-camry-android-octa-core-px5-car-radio-head-unit-with-bluetooth-video-out-function.html
This is another option from Phoenix https://phoenixandroidradios.com/products/10-4-vertical-screen-android-navigation-radio-for-toyota-camry-2006-2012

Belsee
If Bluetooth is a concern apparently they will upgrade the bic5 to parrot for around $60 USD.
I'd like to hear about anyone's experience with their products. Looks interesting but I'm not sure yet.
They aren't exactly cheap. But the memory is very tempting.

I have it installled on my 17 crosstrek. Works well. I have it connected to my phones (android) hotspot and bluetooth for calls. Works perfectly there just hickups when you have a new launcher, pandora, Dash cam recording and google maps running. But all in all WAY better then stock! Just needed to get my reverse camera professionally installed to get working. The rest like steering controls and everything else was plug and play. Also just fyi the radio SUCKS A** on it. So don't use it.

Not all Snapdragon variants offer a built-in FM Tuner. My S9 and S10 were Global variants (Hong Kong). Both have built in FM Tuners but my Hong Kong S21 Ultra no longer supports the feature. Not sure why, maybe the CCP crackdown in Hong Kong has something to do with it.
You might give this a shot.

I've been researching this. What's been shared is the 3.0 UI Update removed the Samsung FM Radio for most users. A few devices in certain markets (Australia?) MAY have the utility. I attempted to activate the radio via the Nextradio App without success, they went out of business. I also attempted to install the most recent Samsung FM Radio AKP, again without success. The User Manual for my device (SM-G9980 - Hong Kong) makes no mention of an FM Radio. My wife's S10 Plus (Hong Kong) has the feature and it works fine. You can still install radio apps but the ones I've seen are all streaming with ads.

The manufacturers sometimes disable FM radio at the hardware level. So even though the acctual radio chip may be present on the phone, it's disconnected. No amount of software wizardry will tap into it if it's not enabled by Samsung at the hardware level. Older devices had workarounds, but as the community finds and uses loopholes to get around restrictions, comapnies like Samsung plug those loopholes in the next iteration. I've tried to search online for a way to get the S21U FM radio working, but I don't think it's possible at the software level unless Samsung explicitly enabled it from the factory.
I don't think it's going to happen. As far as I can recall, the older phones required that you use your wired headphones as the antenna. After all, FM antennas are fairly large if you want any sort of reception at all. The wire for headphones could work but the newer phones now don't have a headphones jack so there really isn't anywhere to use as an FM antenna. So, even if you could get the chip to work I really don't think it has any connection to an antenna for you to put up any signals.

I'm inclined to agree. It would seem manufacturers are looking to migrate users to streaming (pay for) options. The stock Samsung FM on devices which are equipped with the feature won't recognize the antenna via earphones connected via the USB port, only the 3.5 jack can be used for the antenna function. Looks to be an obsolete feature, service providers want to make profits for anything they provide.

They're making money by endangering public safety. An FM radio is a basic necessity during an emergency. They really ought to legislate access to weather, AM, and FM radio as a minimum necessity in 5 years. Just my angry stupid opinion.

No FM Radio for the sole reason that there is no headphone jack anymore. It is being used as an antenna for the FM chip so having an FM radio without an antenna is pretty much useless. No more no less. No need for conspiracy theories here.

"No FM Radio for the sole reason that there is no headphone jack anymore"
Totally disagree, if a 3.5 jack will accommodate the antenna a Type C Connector can accomplish this function just as easily. Conspiracy? How about common sense? It's all about $$$. Nextradio was unsuccessful at convincing Apple to activate the hybrid radio app on iPhones, that's why they tanked. Either way it would be a critical feature in an emergency setting, possibly a life saver, device manufacturers are well aware of this.
