Hi all,
Wonder if anyone has had the same issues as myself.
Model: Samsung Note (N7000)
OS: Android 4.4.4 (Kitkat) / ROM: DirtyUnicorn 8.2
Software: Mounts2SD
I've ran out of space, and so tried to find an App that can move all Apps onto the second partition of an SD Card. Much like the days of Gingerbread 2.3.7 --> JellyBean 4.1.2.
However with KitKat, and its SD Card issues... I've been unable to find a decent App that supports it.
S2E = Does not support Android higher than 4.1.2
Link2SD = Too confusing, and doesn't find the sd-ext partition.
Mounts2SD = Mainly works ok, has issues. But does the job, other than Xposed....
- anyone know of alternatives to the above?
Anyway, under the above circumstances.... Xposed was installed and working fine, up until I moved all the data on 2nd partition. Now it says it's installed, but not active... No matter how many times I try reinstall over top, still doesn't come active...
Installed, but says not active

Installed, but makes out its active... when its not!
Attempted to re-install over the top
Anyone know how to get this to work, or know of any other SD-Ext Apps that work better...???
Thanks, Lister

AS it requires to be installed in the system partition It wont work no matter what you do. It simple cant work from an SD card.
Moving apps to the SD cards is asking for trouble to begin with. This is due to the way android mounts the sd card very late and why app developers tell you that widgets will not work when the app is installed on the sd card. My advise would be to clean up some of your apps. With the storage on devices this is seldom needed and with 5.0 will mostly not work at all.
Hi @zelendel,
With the SD-Ext partition, this normally doesn't affect the widgets or other Apps. As the way Android does it, is it makes it work/behave just like it's installed on the Android devices main memory, even though it is coming from SD card. Although depending on age of device, it could be a little slower and setting that up on Boot, but once loaded, it works a treat. However these methods don't seem possible now on new Android OS versions....
True though, if anything is moved over to SD card via Apps2SD, where the data files are moved to the SD and the App still stays on the phone. Then yes, that is asking for trouble, as it is slower method and never really works... Unless you don't use Widgets, I believe this method to be pointless. As you're not really moving the whole App, only parts of it...
In the end, I went with re-partitioning my internal memory on the phone... I have extended the phones internal /data partition... and now all is working fine... Just means my phone is no longer stock. And if I ever have to return it to stock, I have to re-partition it again... But at least I have more space for Apps now...
Thank you for your advice though, much appreciated... Thanks, Lister

I can see why with Googles move to do away with sd cards all together. Mainly as there really is almost no need for them anymore. With the storage on most devices sd cards are slowly being removed. Even Google removed the stock sd card code all together from android back in ICS.

Hi guys!!! Anyone can say me how much internal memory does the s3 mini has? I say internal memory for apps, the /data partition.... Thanks!!!
Here you go.
Sent from Spaceball One.
LOL! You really think that i have not searhed it?
I searched it a lot, but it only says that has 4.5 gb for the user, but i dont know if this memory is for apps installation or an internal sd!!

Ok, chewed up and ready for quick digestion:
So 8GB version is leaving you with ~4,64GB for W/E you want to put/install there.
16Gb ver. should be ~12,64GB...
It's all clear if you read the specs and know how any smartphone is working.
Even more chewed up and ready to digest faster:
That is the internal system memory available to USER. Said that, it means you can use that potion of internal memory for purposes like storage or installations. If it does not suffice, toss in a 8/16/32gb MicroSD card and store photos/videos/music there thus leaving the internal memory for installations only. Do the same for the various caches etc, and clean up from time to time.
Cheers,

Yes, here are the specs for the S3 mini: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8190_galaxy_s_iii_mini-5033.php
But, here are the specs for the D3 (the phone that i have now): http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_droid_3-4036.php
If you read says that has 16 Gb internal storage.... I will bring you some caps of my phone....

It has three storages.... The first is for apps installation (it's the /data partition), the second is to storage of photos, videos, etc (is the /sdcard partition), and the third is same as second (it's hte /sdcard-ext partition)
As you said, i can expand the S3 mini partition with a sd card, so i understand that you are talking about the /sdcard partition and it can be expanded with the /sdcard-ext partition, but i want to know how much is the /data partition size... If you say that i can install 4.65Gb of apk's, it's ok for me, but now i'm confused....
Here you can see the /data partition of my D3, 660Mb used, 348 Mb free, total 1Gb of internal storage for apps.... This is what i want to know...
Thanks...

But I do understand, just you pone a question in a way that seem a bit odd (NHF all the way) thinking all of them are the same when actually they're not
Your D3 is like my SGS II (My wife has a SGS III Mini) It has a dedicated system storage, then (USB) internal storage and also expandable external storage, am I right?
See this scr from my phone:
SGS III Mini has only one option available instead system and internal. It's all in one, thus you get something like this (MiscroSD is a secondary storage, and can be used as as internal memory on your D3, but not as a data partition on your D3, with an addition S III Mini can store huge potions of files/game/apk data on that one - like with huge games from the store - like your D3 is storing on SD and not EXT SD. IMHO - this is the way it should be):
and it's that proclamed 8Gb on S III Mini, or better said - what it has left in real time conditions of internal system memory so you simply have to accept the fact you can push it to that limit Simply means you have that memory to do whatever you want with it - be it apps/games or media :good:
See this scr from SGS III Mini compared to my SGS II if in need for more :
Cheers,
Fevv.
Thank you a lot!!!! Now i understand it!!! What you said was just what i need!!!
Solved!
I got my Sony Xperia ZR and was unable to move any of my apps to SD card. My SD card is currently working fine.THE only problem I am getting is that I the "move to sd card" button is not there. My ZR is updated into 4.4 kitkat and is rooted already. I downloaded the AppMgr III and it still doesn't work.I also tried foldermount and I can transfer apps data to sd card but after then my apps stop working and show an error message.please help if anyone knows how to fix it.
On foldermount make sure to "pin" the apps, the ?pin should be green like the screenshot:

It's an app called Foldermount, you can use it to "redirect" internal folders to your external SD card so you can have more space: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount&hl=es_419 It requires root

Thanks a lot.my phone's rebooting problem has been fixed but the moving apps to sd card didn't fix Yet.can you please tell me how to do that?
As far as I understand, the Xperia ZR does not support this. Period. Something to do with the fact that it's internal storage is actually an external that's built into the phone and emulated to act as the internal. It might even be a limitation of KitKat, but I don't think that's likely. Your best bet is Link2SD (preferrably pro) for regular apps and games, and FolderMount for apps with obb files like Injustice, Gameloft games, etc. Link2SD can be somewhat confusing though, though it's a little easier if you have some basic experience with Linux or partitioning hard disks. I understand that there are some apps that do what Link2SD does, but automates everything and keeps it simple (I think simple2ext might be an example of this, not sure though). Native app2sd and AppsMgrIII and the like are out of the question, though.

It does support it, at least for me. Maybe because I have installed the "KitKat SD Card Full Access" module on Xposed? that and foldermount makes a great combo.
Really? Damn. Partitioned my SD card for nothing. I'm not really sure what Xposed is; I guess I'm going to go find a tutorial for it now. Thanks for the heads up.
P.S. Why would you need foldermount if you have native apps2sd? Doesn't the native move obb files?

Xposed Framework Is really useful and can be a really great complement in some roms (like the Stock one); It let you change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs; so for example, I use it to force Inmersive Mode on apps that doesn't have this feature (I use it for games mostly, so I play at full screen ) and also I have the module named Kitkat SD Card full acces, that itself doesn't let me move apps to the SD, but if I understand correctly, this one let non-system apps gain acces to the SD Card (sdcard1).
I still can't move apps to the SD with that (from settings, also tried App2SD and link2sd and said that there was a problem because storage is being emulated) That's why I need to use FoulderMount and it's simple. select the source folder to mount (from Emulated/0 or sdcard0) and then thee destination folder (sdcard1/[whateverthenameofthefolderis]/) and that's it. there are tutorials (better explained) on how to use it too.

If you're happy using Foldermount, then I suggest you don't bother with Link2SD. Partitioning an SD card is annoying and often messy. Also, it's not very flexible. You can't use any free space in the second partition for storage, which is just wasteful. Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant app, and a very clever workaround for the problem, but it's not a perfect solution.

Oh, I see. So there's no way to get the native, Android inbuilt app2sd? Bummer.
The Xposed framework looks very interesting, to say the least. After taking a look, I've decided to go back to stock and just use this for my tweaks and such. How long I'll keep it like that, I don't know, but I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks for explaining it to me.
My internal memory is really limited. I saw (and still see) only 1GB available, my SD card files were also all deleted. I opted to change roms, and after a fresh install (wipe data, cache, dalvik) of this rom problem still persists. Only things i've installed on here are Gapps, Dropbox, CF.Lumen and Facebook+Messenger. Current internal memory usage is shown here. The rom i was using before is this AOKP. I figured this would be the best option i had for asking what's causing it. Help would be much appreciated
EDIT : suddenly now I can install apps from the play store, while I couldn't yesterday. Dunno if it changes anything, but here's hoping.
EDIT2: after wiping everything with TWRP the memory returned to normal - cyanogen recovery didn't help, neither did cwm. So, TWRP wins, and i might start using it finally

Basically, you can do two things.
Use an app like sd maid to clear your cache or increase your internal memory by using an app like link2sd.
You can also use titaniumback (or any other app) to move your apps to sdcard.
Link2sd /titanium would require root to work
Basically, all app build up cache over time which can fill your internal memory. clearing it up regularly should help .

(LATE, but it happened again)
This time it happened while transferring files via USB connection - it stopped working for a second, and then device reappeared, with SD card empty, internal memory empty and only showing 2,5 gigs clear - gonna report after clearing dalvik tho. As for normal cache - it's not a problem, i'm starting to suspect faulty hardware - it now limits my maximum internal storage capacity to ~4,3 Gb, according to Total Commander. Besides, i'm using sd maid every week, so it's not like im not taking proper care of my device.... It starts annoying me, i might need a new phone soon - if i start losing ~20 gigs of data every 3 months (backups are backups, but that's another thing) from my phone, and then have to re-install NEW systems every time it f***s up, it's too much hustle - especially that God only knows what causes that, and what fixes it
Screens explaining this:
Total Commander right after wipe (only ext-sd had some files recovered)

Only 4,3 gigs, right after showing 11,7 max
As my problem came back, i'd appreciate any help - this time not in a form of "clear your cache" as that clearly is not the reason why it happens on different ROMs after a clean install(first on KitKat, then on CM12 - both from _infected) on otherwise stock Yuga.
EDIT1: Before clearing Dalvik (as i forgot cm recovery can't do that) i checked apps - one was using 6 gigs of space, so i deleted data - it then showed 8.1 gigs of space BUT the 'size' in properties changed to... 7,5 Mb. That confuses me, gonna start testing more as much as i can before i will be left without internet for around a month.
Hi All,
I currently am using a stock D415 LG L90 (Running Lollipop). I have no intention of rooting anytime soon, but my internal memory keeps getting full from multiple apps I have downloaded. I have a 32GB SD Card which is only using half of its capacity. I currently have it set to save all images and video captured to be stored onto the SD Card.
In my previous phones, I was easily able to dedicate my SD card as my primary source of storage, thus never having to run into the issue of having no memory and what not. Are there any solutions like these available?
I am open to rooting, I am kind of picky of not voiding the warranty as I have only had the phone for 10 months, but if rooting is my only option, I am willing to go ahead and do so.
Thanks All!
Uh, 94 views and no response? I am assuming I am the only person here with this issue?
Unfortunately the only way is to root and use Link2SD which is a paid application. You'll also have to partition your microSD card to have a second ext2/ext3 partition.
You probably have apps such as Whatsapp that refuses to store media files in external SD, I suggest you to backup the media folders to your external SD regularly.
I was facing the same problem with some apps, e.g. I have OALD and this app downloads a huge 450MB database file and stores in the internal SD that cannot be moved to external SD, I had to use Link2SD to move this kind of files to my ext3 partition in the external storage.
Since Android 4.3 we have this limitation, some apps cannot save data in the external storage. In v10 (kitkat) we had an option to switch the internal SD to external SD but it was a very intrusive modification with exposed framework and required unlock bootloader and root.

That is a real bummer, and big question mark as to why this kind of functionality is not open for the user to decide how to allocate memory... Are there specific ROM's that allow this instead?
I have downloaded Link2SD, are there proper tutorials on here on how to get root access on this phone?
It's for security reasons why android don't let some type of data to be saved on external microSD - fat32 doesn't support Unix file permissions, also, some apps such as Whatsapp was designed this way (they propably could save data in external SD, but somewhy they decided to not). In phones with 32 and 64GB this isn't really a problem, but even 16GB can be problematic for heavy users that likes to carry massive data in the phone.
To root, If Purpledrake (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000) don't work, your only hope is KingRoot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461). If you use the latter one, I suggest to immediately switch KingUser to SuperSU.

I had tried Purpledrake, but ran into this error:

I went over and tried KingRoot, it ended up working. My question is - Which one is better? If I used KingRoot, what things should I be aware of dealing with this specific root method?
Otherwise, my phone is now rooted. I am going to try and partition my MicroSD card and see if I can see some success with the entire Link2SD method.
Use KingRoot, then replace with supersu: http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html
I unlocked my 410hn bootloader so I root directly from supersu flashable zip from twrp.
Today I noticed something interesting, do you use gmail app? I don't mean the google email account, I mean the app. If yes, take a look into your account settings configured in the app, it's set to sync all e-mails and attachments from the last 30 days, for this reason gmail was eating over 1GB of my internal memory, I configured to NOT sync anything (it's like saving stuff for offline read) and NOT download/load images automatically.
I went from 400MB of free space to almost 3GB. Had to clear app data first to make a clean start in the app and quick turn off those settings or it's going to download all over again, do you ever wonder why in the first run gmail takes a lot of time to sync? That's the reason, it's downloading your stuff from the last 30 days from every email account.
Yes I too have noticed that but when I try to open my gmail Google Play services force closes any idea on a solution to the problem

No ROM is as smooth as STOCK ROM. So here is the de-bloated and pre-rooted stock ROM for sprout 8. This ROM is only 246 MB and works like a charm. It also has BusyBox integrated, so there is no need to install it with any app. ( Thanks to Stericson )
This ROM boots up quickly even on first boot. Thanks to the maker of ART_ON_FIX.
Due to a few apps, normal boot up time is also reduced.
Screenshots are given below.
Moreover, if you want to run Viper4Android with stock kernel, then head over to this thread.
Everything is working perfectly, if you find any bug then let me know.
I hope you will enjoy it.
Thanks @abkdmn and @arpitbatra123 for testing Sprout 4 version.

Flash at your own risk, I'll not be responsible for any damage done to your device.
Download ROM for Sprout 8
Download ROM for Sprout 4
PS:
There is no Camera, File Explorer, and Stock Messaging app. I have removed the Camera app and replaced stock messaging app with Textra SMS to keep the size smaller. But if you want these apps, then flash the zip of basic apps after flashing the ROM. You can find the link below.
Download Basic apps
PPS:
Those who are getting low system partition space, do this after flashing the ROM.
1: Backup SYSTEM partition.
2: Go to wipe option > Advanced wipe > and there select SYSTEM and wipe it.
(TWRP)
3: Restore SYSTEM.
4: Now you have 1 GB of the SYSTEM partition.

I have installed this on my spice android one phone and my initial impression are followed
Pros: It has improved my phone's battery life considerably, maybe because I had been using some apps earlier that was causing battery drain or maybe it is updated 6.01 MM with all the updates and bugs fixes.
Cons: I am having problem with some of the apps that I can't transfer to SD card which I could do earlier and though I can transfer google chrome to the sd card but it is not working and crashing there but working fine in internal storage.
overall I am kinda satisfied with having a lot more extra internal space and lot less cluttered.
regards

Thanks for the feedback. But I would recommend everyone that they should not move apps to external storage media. Because it makes device slower, due to the low speed of SDcards.

dude this device has got less than 2gb of internal storage after installing this rom, the only reason for me to installing this rom was to have some mb's free in my internal storage
If I didn't transfer apps to sd card then I wouldn't be able to install some of the most basic apps.

Can I flash this rom over CM 13? I really want to.?
I have a weird issue on this rom. Previously everything was fine but now I have a problem. WhatsApp and Chrome cannot write anything to SD card (Whatsapp says download failed and Chrome says SD card missing). In the settings it shows SD card inserted and mounted. Root explorer can access SD card and it is not corrupt as I can copy stuff from PC. I have tried to use SD card both as Adopted storage and Portable storage but still same issue. I am using Sprout 4 rom. Can someone tell me how to fix it or what is causing this? I don't want to flash new rom
