Hello,
I have to send in my phone to get repaired to Samsung.
I have used ODIN quite a bit to restore back to official firmware and I am wondering if that makes the flash counter go up?
If it does is their a way to reset the flash counter?
Thank you for your time!

Using Odin to flash stock firmware doesn't trigger a flash counter if you're sending it back to Samsung the only thing you should check is that your Knox warranty flag is not tripped. To check that boot into download mode and if you see knox warranty void: 0x0 you're all good!

Seems there is some confusion on what is currently going on with the 4.3 MJA update and development. The MJA update is a patch file, NOT a full rom. Devs had to update OR use someone else that has updated in order to get the TW 4.3 system image. NOW....
The recent MJA update was major in terms of firmware in that Knox was incorporated. (firmware on the GS4 is the bootloader, recovery and modem/radio. the ROM is the OS) Currently, once you update to the new MJA bootloader you can't go back.
Why would you go back? Well Knox is a pain in the a$$ and trips the flash counter in the bootloader, which will most likely void your warranty. For crack flashers this is a nightmare. If you do not care about tripping the flash counter make sure right after you succesfully update to MJA you make a nand back up of stock MJA with Philz Touch CWM recovery found here: http://d-h.st/WUe Flash this in odin 3.07. This is so you can restore to stock if you mess up your system. There are many reports of issues restoring a nand backup of stock MJA with TWRP and other recoveries.
Devs are currently VERY close on getting a MJA 4.3 rom up and running with a custom kernel. Why a custom kernel? There are reported issues with bootloops after flashing a MJA 4.3 rom in the MF9 bootloader. The stock MJA kernel will not boot if you're still on the MF9 bootloader.
To sum up:
If all you want is rooted TW 4.3 MJA and you don't care about tripping the flash counter go ahead and update to full MJA then immediately nand backup.

Very well said. Its indeed a pain in the ass for us flashaholics! I hate being limited, i miss downgrading at will. I check daily to see if there has been any updates with mja. Thank you for your post.
Thank you hope this helps people and limit the questions in the development section. Very well said

I have a question please...
so when you talk about tripping the knox counter...
would this happen every time you flash something?
so like if im getting my flash on 2-3 times a day this would make it tick up one 2-3 times?
is there any difference between knox being tripped from 0x1 to 0xFiftyMillion? I mean once its tripped does it really matter to sprint/Samsung or is there some kind of threshold? will it eventually brick device or something?

The knox flag doesnt trip every time you flash. It uses binary numbers so its only 0x0 or 0x1 thats it. Once its tripped there is no way or reversing the it back to 0x0. People have confirmed that sprint will still take phone with 0x1 but that voids your warranty with samsung. Other than that i dont know about your last two questions.

Hopefully in time, one of our amazing Devs will figure out how to reset it back to 0x0!
Hey, is it possible to reset the flash on the SM-N900A. I'm rooted using the method I found in the forum here. It was successfull (thanks) and my knox is still 0x0. I'd now like to reset the flash counter, as my boot splash shows the "Custom" and unlocked padlock. I saw Triangle Away is supposed to support the Note 3 on 4.4, but I'm currently on MJ5 of 4.3. Anyone know if Triangle Away works or theres another option?
Your good u haven't tripped the knox count and there is no app or anything right now to reset if u do
Title tells all.
Yo take a look at my post I just did. http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...shed-twrp-idiotically-p-knox-tripped-t3154743
So far there is no way , and if we do it would then trip knox. Check out the error message I got when I flash twrp.

You can get past KNOX. Look around. I had the same problem you did and I had to re-flash the stock ROM.

KNOX is still tripped @ 0x1 after flashing stock through odin , it should be a 0x0. IS there something I am missing?

So does flashing stock though odin trip knox? Or is it because he tried to flash a custom recovery

Using Odin to return to stock does not trip Knox.
Flashing or trying to flash a custom recovery will trip Knox.

anyway to disable Knox?
Hi guys
Last night I upgraded to N910TUVU2EPG2 official rom. My phone wasn't rooted and I was of official marshmallow rom but to my surprise after the upgrade to EPG2.... MY KNOX WAS TRIPPED
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (2)
What am I supposed to do?
I mean I didn't do anything it was OTA UPDATE
Did you buy the device new? I have a refurbished note 4, and when I got it knox was tripped. I'm not sure if the previous user had rooted the device or if all refurbished devices have knox tripped on them for warranty reasons.

I have flashed official rom through Odin but my phone was never rooted. I was using knox since last 1 yr I can definitely say it wasn't tripped but yesterday there was an upgrade of abt 309 mb and suddenly I knox was tripped .
Do I have any option now?
I can't even check for official updates now it says
"The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way .try downloading software updates using smart switch on your computer or visit a customer service center. "
I can't connect through kies 3 and smart switch as well... Fail to initialize error in smart switch and in kies it just disconnects the phone when I try upgrading
First, if your device is over a year old the warranty is over anyway. Try using Odin to reset your firmware. Download from a reputable place like Sam mobile then let us know how it's going.

Or is the game over now?
If you've tripped Knox it's over. Are you still under warranty?

No I m not under warranty just concerned about OTA's and Knox software. That's it but I guess its a Game Over for me
You can always use Odin to update your device.give me a minute and I'll find a Sam mobile download app for your pc. It'll help you download the latest firmware.

Hello, i have question. If i root my phone or flash rom is there any way to get knox and get the phone unrooted, with official firmware? Via odin? Please tell about that, i need to know if i lose knox FOREVER...
Thank you.
Once you have rooted or install a custom OS onto your Samsung Device you will trip Knox and Knox will be disabled on your device.

You can unroot by flashing stock firmware, but you will still lose Knox forever (including secure folder, etc.). Knox can't be untripped.
