I dont know if there are any developers tried this ? Is it possible ? I'd like to install ubuntu touch on my device (just to experience ubuntu, if possible stick to it).. Please let me know if there are any guides to do this.. Thank you

Never heard of it being done and there's definitely no guides on it.
It would need to be posted to the X first, and that's not likely to happen.

Hey everyone,
I recently rooted my moto droid and was wondering now that I have done this can I drop 1.5 or any other OS on there that I choose? Also, if that is possible can someone post a link or tell me how to go about doing this. That being said, I was also wondering if there is a way to easily switch between android versions for development.
Thanks for your time and help,
Tommy
Here is a link to droidforums. It has links to most rooted Tom's for Droid.

You can also try other sites like alldroid.org, phandroid. The developers site which is "xda" and "sdx". There are many others so just search around they all have forums for different devices for this information. One of the most helpful I've found for noobs was unlocked.com. give it a try.

Look-up RomManager in the marketplace if you will be moving between versions alot, it handles these changes very well.
As to going to previous versions I can not say for sure. In theory yes but you will ether have to find a pre-made Droid rom or build it yourself.
Thanks!
Thank you both for the replies and information. I will continue my research and see what I can dig up. Hopefully I can find a 1.5 rom as building it myself is a little out of my ability right now.
Yes rom manager would be a good idea forgot to mention it. It works great for switching roms I just have a little problem with mount sdcard in clockworkmod recovery so mine will reboot after entering recovery and rom manager doesn't help some times but it seems to work great for most devices. My problem is I have to reformat sdcard because I came from Eris and I don't want to till I can get a computer to backup info on it.

listen to this guy. The first thing to do is root phone( best method is the one click) then follow the development threads. Right now is the perfect time to get started because there is not too much out for the d3 right now( there will be alot more in the future) so now is the time to practice!

Please dont flame me for this. Yes i have searched and no i havent found a solid answer.
I recently got my moto x from AT&T and they updated it in store. ive tried most of the other rooting methods with no success. I have Linux (64 bit if it matters) working adb, and working drivers.
What are my options here? i believe i read that i cant down grade to 4.2.2 to successfully root
If someone could point me in the right direction and not flame me that would be awesome. Thanks for any help you can provide, this will be the first phone ive ever had without root if i cant get it working
Only if your bootloader is unlocked. That's it... If not then you just sit back and enjoy the phone

No root on 442!
Join the outcasts. I have a page of useful links in my signature, but no root. Maybe in late summer.
Thanks for the quick responses. This is disappointing, I saw really looking to de bloat and play with utter and touchless control. It doesn't work like I expected it to.... Looks like I'll be trading it in for a g2.

No. But I shall.
Thanks for posing the question because I was wondering the same thing. I just pulled my 1058 out and started using it again; guess I'll stick with rooted 4.4... doesn't look like i'd be gaining much anyway.
I know this is not the Q&A thread. Don't shoot me. But i figured this was a dev question. Does anybody think or have tried flashing the stock droid ultra ROM to the moto x since they are VERY SIMILAR phones? Is it possible? Can it be done? Has anybody tried? If not and I was to try it do you think I can flash stock moto x IMG files back to normal? Or will i fubar my bootloader. Running Moto x Dev edit Verizon. These are questions that have been running through my head. Just thought I might ask. And is anybody willing to help me look into it? Thank you for taking the time to read and reply.

Very similar is never close enough. Any ROM for a different phone will not work for a different device. Some exploit methods work on multiple devices but never Roms and kernals.

I only asked cause if cm11 pac-rom etc could do it maybe we could. Thanks for answering though. It was worth a shot. I just miss my droid ultra?
They are the same phone in almost every way and yes the builds are compatible, or at least the 4.2.2 and 4.4 builds were last year. When the leaked T-Mobile 4.4 build came out, I was running it perfect on my vzw moto x DE and at least one other person was running it on their droid ultra/maxx with no issues.
So your question for the devs was just answered by non devs. If you KNEW you were posting in the wrong thread, but wanted to make sure you got noticed please follow the rules next time. It's not like you didn't know this does not belong here.
Only try this if you have an unlocked boot loader. If you are locked then you are out of luck. Still recommend finding a build for your phone.

i posted here thinking maybe devs have already tried it and/or have a workaround for it. i'm not going to start a fight with you over the internet cause thats just petty.
Moved here as this does not belong in the Development Section, OP please read the Forum Rules on posting.
Hi XDA, I have a bricked Nexus 6 and I would like to repair it by overwriting the flash memory over the JTAG interface. Does anyone know where this is on this device? I think I've found it, but can't confirm (pic attached). Much appreciated.
It is usually not necessary to go to that extreme on a Nexus. What exactly is it doing?
Here's a little more context. The device is actually a Moto X Pro (the N6 equivalent, but sold in China). The bootloader was overwritten and hard bricked the device. To repair it, I was able to restore the device to a flashable state in qhsub_bulk mode using the guide below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/fix-fix-qhusbbulk-cm12-t3059518
However, the problem is that the factory ROM for the Moto X Pro was not released publicly by Motorola and the stock Nexus 6 ROM does not work (that's how it got into this state). It sounds like I have 2 options:
A. Find any third-party ROM for the Moto X Pro. I've been searching but to no avail. If anyone has found one, lmk!
B. Pull the system, boot, recovery partitions from a stock Moto X Pro. The problem here is that I can't sign these files to create the img and I don't think I can re-flash the bootloader. Any recommendations?
@blazer072,
Have you seen this thread? > http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/moto-x-pro-zip-t3078399
And this:

@cam30era: Thanks, downloading that ROM now. I'll post here the results.
@Evolution_Freak: Those ROMs are for Shamu/N6, which is the XT1103. The Moto X Pro is the XT1115, the hardware is slightly different.
