[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 Active stuck at boot. - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I had s4 active which was locked to AT&T and went for unlocking. He downgraded it to 4.3 and unlocked but that dint work instead showed samsung custom with key padlock.
When i keep a sim and call a number, it hangs up and screen flashes. after repeated attempts, went to boot recovery and did factory reset. Now phone has been struck on boot and it just stops after samsung with blank screen.
Please suggest me anything for it. What could have happened? How to reset the phone back to 44 or atleast 4.3?
Will it get locked if i update it to 4.4 again?
Thanks in advance.

Do you know if you have the U.S. version (model number SGH-i537) or the international version (i9295)? This is a crucial distinction.
Have you tried using Odin to flash your phone back to stock? I'd link to the appropriate threads but I don't want to give you the wrong ones without knowing which phone you have.

You did not give enough information to even try to help you. As markj338 suggested, if you have modified your phone by unlocking the bootloader, flashing a custom recovery or rooted the phone, it will not apply the OTA successfully.
So what was the state of your phone before you attempted to run the OTA?

So we are clear, your phone was completely stock? Or was your bootloader unlocked and you locked it before checking for updates?

the bootloader was unlocked, i relocked it then installed an original RUU after that everything was working normal, i checked for updates so i got the OTA update, then installed it and then my phone stuck on that screen.
What method did you use to lock your bootloader?
thanks guys for everything, i found a store to fix my phone, and they fixed it with jtag box and now it's brand new.

[Q] has there been any progress on unlocking the bootloader?

So I just got my note 3 n900A att model about 2 months ago. last month the lollipop update pushed to my phone and I was happy but then I started working on rooting. I successfully downgraded my phone to 4.4.4 then to 4.4.2 by following guids on here and on another webiste that instructed me to use odin and then I rooted. Right now I am on Biggons rom and it is beautiful. I have been using safestrap to flash custom roms for this n900A.
I am however interested in trying to obtain a custom kernal and the bootloader being locked is frustrating. To my peasant understanding there isnt a option as of yet to get around the bootloader. please correct me here if I am wrong.
Are any developers working on this? Is it even possible to work on this? Am I just completed F'ed unless I went out and got a different variant of this phone with an unlocked bootloader?
lastly! Im curious if it is possible to turn my phone into a developer edition? that might be just a repeat version of my previous question. excuse my ignorance. I am new to this phone and boot locks n the what not.

I believe the answer is no....reason being is the 870a is bootloader locked...can't flash the kernel or modem of the other rom.

I think it is already unlocked I can't remember the exact steps I took but It took forever.
On boot it says custom and shows a unlocked pad so I think that means it's unlocked
I would like to find a bell lollipop rom for it, I don't want to put any att rom on it because it locks tethering and it took lots of ****ing around to get it turned back on.

The custom symbol just means that it has detected you modified your system, it means norhing, your bootloader is still locked.

Can I flash all roms of note 5 on carrier unlocked note 5

I'm having a Verizon note 5 which is unlocked and I wanted to ask whether or not I can flash all the roms that are available for note 5 models as my phone is not carrier locked and all the note 5 models have same hardware specs
In simple word just wanted to ask whether we can flash international roms on carrier unlocked phone. And will there be any difference between international unlocked and factory unlocked?
No, you can't. It wont boot, at least.

May or may not boot or simply boot-loop. And there is risk of at least soft bricking it. Unlocked device means SIM unlocking. There are a lot of Note5 models. The are all Exynos but some differences in modem and other things make many roms not compatible. For example: I tried a 920C ROM on my 920 and it just got stuck on the Galaxy Note5 splash screen, It didn't even make it to the boot animation.

Samsung unlocked galaxy note thinks it's on sprint

Hey guys so I tried to root my Samsung unlocked galaxy note 8. And I messed up. So I found a "return to stock" thread but every rom I've downloaded that says it's the USA unlocked version. When I boot it up. It says its searching for a sprint signal. I don't know what to do. I thought I had it fixed. I got the notification to go away. But I just want it back to the way it was out the box. Any suggestions?

1) What carrier are you on?
2) What firmware did you use?
3) What is your N8 model? F? FD? U?
4) Taking the SIM out, power cycling and putting the SIM back in doesn't work?
You must provide better details of your actions if you want help.

It's the unlocked samsung galaxy note 8. Unlocked straight from the factory. I am on verizon. I used firmware N950U1UEU3CRC1_N950U1OYM3CRC1_XAA from one of the posts. I am unsure of what model it is. and yes I did do a power cycle. I'm just trying to get it back to the firmware it was on. It's the Factory unlocked variant USA.
