I bought a Sony Xperia ZR a year ago, as soon as it was available for purchase. Other than this issue, it's functioning totally fine. I inserted an original Mirco-sim from my operator. ever since i bought it, it worked fine until suddenly problem with internet occurred.
However, any MMS messages just come up saying "Message not downloaded." Trying to use the browser or any apps that need data access results in connection errors, and Chrome reports "Unable to connect to the Internet."
I'm in the Cairo, Egypt and my operator is Mobinil, smartphone data subscription, and I've used various APN settings that I've found on the web to try and get the data to work, but I've had no luck.
I've taken it to the Mobinil store, the guy messed around for 20 minutes with the APN settings, but was unable to get it to work. so he told me that it shall only be a matter of software and i need to format it, i connected the phone with PC companion and did software repair and still have the same problem, Any help is hugely appreciated!
I guess it could be software thing. Repair the phone using Sony PC companion once n check if issue is resolved.

i repaired the phone twice using Sony PC companion but the problem still exists
I guess that he tried another sim card and also checked with the operator so the subscriptions are ok?

Hi everyone,
I just bought a xperia v.
The question is, i tried to unlock the bootloader, but no blue LED!
When I go into service menu and check configuration for bootloader status... there is NOTHING!
When I insert an SIM Card I can enter my pin but have no signal!?
Does anyone have ideas how I could fix all this?

To unlock bootloader you need press the volume button on the up side when you increase volume then insert the usb cable.
If nothing else works then since I assume your smartphone is still locked then open pc companion, click start button from phone software update then click repair then continue the steps from there as I think maybe you should try install a clean firmware.

Edit: Well, I tried with pc companion now, but it says that there is already the latest firmware installed!?

That because you connected the usb cable straight away and turn your phone off then go through the steps I told you before connecting your smartphone to pc so do not connect your smartphone.
See screenshot steps below and click on blue colour circled.

Can you tell is it micro sim card you using or was it a normal sim card hence did you cut it with a sim card cutter by any chance please?
Would you have another micro sim card to put in or order some free pay as you go micro sim card or something to see if the problem is the sim card.
So might be the problem with your sim card itself.
Well, I've tried it with different micro sim cards from different providers. When I search for networks, I can see my home network, but as I try to login it says "Not able to register and so on."
Unter the battery is no information, wether IMEI or anything else. It is clearly a prototype!
I was able to flash any firmware with Flashtool, everything works fine, Wifi, Cam, Apps, but I just cant get any network signal.
Any other ideas, how to get it to work?
Well I afraid I cannot I done my best to help, not sure where you got this prototype clearly looked it an early version where it was used in an lab, the hardware inside has not been made yet to get the signal or it simply broken.

I bought it from a person of a local internet shop, but gave it now back to him, because i tried almost every single micro sim card from various providers, and it just won't work. I think you could be right, perhaps it is a very early production or simply broken.

Hi guys my mobile data has suddenly stopped working, tried resetting to factory defaults and now flashed original 434 rom but to no avail. tried a different sim too, still not working. The network is working thouigh as my wifes on the same network and hers is fine.
phone was sim free from phones 4 u, if i take it back will they swap it for a new one or make me wait until its checked..

did you enable mobile data in the setting? sometime it become untick.

That's weird, my mobile data also stopped working around the time the OP posted
I am not joking either, I haven't been able to get it working again - I just figured the custom rom I put on recently had screwed up and I'm currently in the middle of getting all the files ready to put eXistenZ ROM on instead - happened to see this while looking for a 253 ftf for the kernel.
Probably a coincidence but still weird.

I think you need to request the configuration settings in your network provider.

He's on 3 (UK). Swears blind it was connecting and working yesterday - this morning, nothing. His phone signal is fine, just not mobile internet.
Checked his APN settings, his mobile Data is "ON", the phone knows it's connected to 3, it says he's picking up HSPDA, but nothing will connect. It won;t even connect to re-install his internet settings through the "Xperia" menu in settings.
He says it did update to the .253 firmware on Sunday night.
What networks you guys in the UK having probs with?

Yes indeed threes data network is experiencing national problems there is a fault on the network ironically some lucky people are still connected wish I knew this this morning after I finished the night shift ended up factory resetting my phone!
Three here too, no data from around 7-11am
I had this and even restored a backup in case it was me. To no avail of course. But my data has come back now.

bloody three I had ruled t hem out as my wife's phone was working fine and there website want updated last night. the wife had a normal size SIM do I couldn't try it out but my spare micro sum didn't work either.
I should h dave checked my wife's this morning...
I ended up getting a brand new Xperia z in exchange for my old one. not happy as off next time something goes wrong with it they'll send it for repair.

After that nice experience, I thought I would ask here.
I can connect to a wifi network, but I can't actually access the internet. This happens on every wifi network I've tried. Data works fine, and wifi will connect to any network, but I can't go anywhere.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Solved. It was a hardware problem according to tmobile.

have u tried repair ur phone by PCC?
or simply restart it.
or check proxy setting if something set wrongly.
when u connect to wifi it means hardware is OK then while u cannot send / receive data it should be software problem.

Thanks for responding. I forgot to mark this question as solved. I just got it replaced at the store...they thought it was a hardware problem and I didn't want to deal with all that.
I bought myself a new Xperia z3+ at christmas. Well... it was second hand but never used used, still new in the box but the seal was broken for inspection.
It works great!
I checked "Check for upgrades" but nothing, I have the *.251 firmware. When I click the link that leads to Sonys website I see that the latest FW for my region is *.266. Well... I connected it to Bridge For Mac and the app tells me "server problem". I connected it to a PC with PC Companion and I get the message that there is a problem connecting to the servers. This has been going on for 2 weeks. Do I have to worry?
I think that I got a firmware update at christmas when I got it... so I don´t think the phone has been tampered with. But how do I know that? Is there any way for me to check if the bootloader has been unlocked? Can that have anything to do with it or is this a real "server problem" in my region?
Once again... the phone, itself, works 100% great and I am very pleased with it.
I get the same message on pc companion for 4-5 months. Never buying Sony again.

I don't think you need to worry too much about this issue. This issue has been around for a long time.

The reason I say don't worry is because Sony has just recently started to roll out the *.266 firmware. I just recently received .266 OTA today and PC Companion finally recognizes my Z3+ as well as being able to connect to the update server (after PC Companion was updated too). You should receive the update eventually.
There is a way to check the bootloader's status but I find that to be vague because it tells you if the bootloader is unlockable and it feels like you're trying to decipher a puzzle. Just know that if your bootloader has been unlocked, your camera won't be able to focus at all. If you're interested in checking this vague bootloader status info, do this:
Dial *#*#7378423#*#*
Service info > Configuration
Look Under "Rooting status"

Hey,
So I wiped the data on my Mi11 before sending it to repairs under warranty for the burned wifi problem (need to send to another country), but now that I turn on my mobile phone it says it is connected to mi account and only other option next to activating is to connect to wifi. Which obviously I can't.
I tried inserting SIM, but no option to Mobile internet and I tried downloading PC suite and it says I need to upgrade phone before connecting...
So for phone being in this state it also doesn't work to check serial numbers and IMEI.
1. So is there a way to connect somehow to internet or bypass this to connect to mobile internet for me to unlock the phone?
2. Is it ok for the repair service to receive the phone in this state? if I include IMEI where they can check warranty and all etc. or do they need it unlocked, will be hard to communicate with them as I need to send it to other country

You just had to delete your data and send it, the rest is not your problem since the phone is guaranteed, in case of doubt attach a photocopy of the invoice and / or a scan of the IMEI of the label on the box and send all.

What I was afraid about was also that I lost my original box with serial and IMEI, but luckily I sent and email with IMEI before to service so I had that.
Anyway after first suggestion I tried to get internet somehow, but options are really limited after you wipe the phone and are locked out , so couldn't figure it out.
Well anyway, got my phone to a service center on the other side of the world and it was zero problems and they fixed my phone So problem solved.
While I love the phone I am worried this will happen again, or is the problem fixed with later versions or changed part in my mobile phone?
