[Q] Color flakes from Frame - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I got my Nexus6 yesterday and already it loses color form the frame. Is this a warranty issue? It is not from falling down but right under the glass and at the SIM tray.
Anyone else got this problems?
Thanks,

I'm assuming this is the blue one? My original one had a pin tip sized flake by my Sim tray but my new one doesn't. I had to RMA my phone because of s black spot on my camera so I don't have that issue anymore.

Thanks for the answer. Yeah it was the blue one. I may be go with the white one now. I hope that if something flakes off, it will not be so bad on the silver frame.
I contacted Motorola and they RMA without any problems
Thanks,
H1GHWAvE

That's good to hear, I haven't had the issue on my new one yet. The funny thing is my replacement was made before my original phone from the first batch.

[Q] Screen Problem-Anyone Seen This??????

I bought the Pure in November. Since then its been in a case 100% of the time, NO drops, NO water damage. Last week it developed the "spot" shown on the picture. It looks like a thumbprint, almost. Its unlocked, hard spl'ed, and was running a custom ROM but I reflashed to stock ROM in desperation. I am just stumped and more than a little ticked off-I mean I bought it unsubsidized and it crapped out quicker than my husbands $20.00 Nokia. The touchscreen does function normally though. I contacted HTC, who told me to contact AT&T. I'm guess I'm trying to figure out if its worth trying to replace the digitizer or just sell it to gazelle.com for the 50 bucks they offered. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Hello, I've had this problem on my diamond2, I took it to my operator and they program from replacing the front panel, the problem is that the digitizer glued to the screen. Good luck and I hope I have helped!
Thank you, that does help! I'll call AT&T now.
I had the same problem just sent it into ATT to get fixed.
Screen Problem
Unfortunately, I have seen it. I'm seeing it right now- take a look at the attachments.... So this is possibly not the display itself and may be the digitizer fusing somehow with the display, huh?/ Would anyone know where to get the take- apart for this phone??? Actually, what AT&T is calling the Pure is the HTC Warhawk ST6356- I paid cash for mine so I wouldn't have to commit, so sending or calling AT&T probably won't help me....

Search for newton rings, you may be able to fix it by applying duct tape and trying to separate the layers.
Otherwise you will find digitizer replacement instructions if you search here.
its same to meee
how to fix it
I had this problem before, after my phone had a 1 feet fall to the ground. Surprisingly, it slowly went away. After a few days, it's totally gone! Lucky me!

That's LCD internal bleeding, fixed a few with that issue.
LCD is simple to replace & the digitizer is a little harder as it is bonded to the front casing.
The LCD % digitizer are totally separate & are not bonded as some people suggest.
The Diamond 2 is one of the easiest HTC devices to dismantle which is fortunate as the quality of LCD & digitizers mean you need to dismantle them frequently.

this is definitely the digitiser problem. I have the same problem for almost one year, but i manneget to overcome it with the solution i have discribed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5496201&postcount=78
i do not exactly what it is and why does it happening. but you can order a new digitiser from ebay for 5-10 USD and install it by your self, of course if your have applied for waranty repair already and they have refused to you.

Mister b, did you say you fixed a few of the ATT HTC Pure with this issue?? It seems fairly straightforward to replace, all except for the lower portion of the case. I can take the screws out of the top and I see how it comes apart, but it is still somehow attached at the bottom and I have pulled as hard as I dare. This phone is my "daily driver" I can't destroy it in an attempt to fix it. Any idea where I can get a take-apart manual or vid for the Pure, or do you know how the bottom portion attaches?

I think on your model mentioned 2 lower screws are hidden under removable trim panel under buttons !
Youtube for a dismantling guide or look in wiki section.

[Q] Smashed Glass

Hello,
I dropped my i9000 Yesterday, and unfortunately the glass over the navigation buttons smashed (it is still fully functional and the screen is not broken)
is it possible just to replace the outer glass, and if so how much would it cost?
cheers
they sell these sort of parts on ebay im not sure if they will have what your looking for,
there is a guy on here called 'iammodo' he does repairs on the SGS.. he may be able to give you some advice... just put his name in the search bar.

At work checking XDA lol.
you can replace the just the Glass with skill and luck but would void the warranty as the ebay part would be a fake.
As the offical part is most of the phone you only save the mainboard really.
If your in blackpool or by blackpool PM me and im sure we can sort something out.
Hey,
I did the same thing, got a replacement off ebay... the install isnt too bad... you just have to be SUPER SLOW when you take off the original screen from the navigation buttons (the buttons are like a sheet of wire which has been glued to the screen, removing is slow)
To be honest, i have replaced my screen a total of 3 times... The first time the screen replacement had a pink hue to it... I emailed the seller and he shipped a replacement which was fine... then i dropped the phone again and that stopped working, so i got a third which has been fine for the past 3-4 months.... well i guess it has been four times cause i replaced the second screen with the pink screen so i could have a working phone... then replaced the pink screen with the final good screen again.
but yes. the replacement screens on ebay are pretty cheap... a word of warning though, they are NOT gorilla glass, so no protection against scratches. and i am not sure if they are SAMOLED screens or not. they might be just lcd?

It's probably a hardware problem, and how old is the phone? because HTC has a grace period for faulty phones. Why not you just send it back to htc to get it checked out?

Anyone swap parts to chance color?

Like the title says, I have a blue one, wanting to change over to a white...here are the parts:
http://www.etradesupply.com/motorola-nexus-6-middle-plate-white.html
http://www.etradesupply.com/motorola-nexus-6-battery-door-cover-24205.html
Curious if anyone has done this before. I've seen teardowns and I've done something similar to this on a Nexus 5.

I swapped backs to get rid of the "ghost image" of the AT&T logo. It was easy. Only took about 10 minutes.

Awesome, I ordered the middle plate (has the bezel and holds the internal battery) and the white battery cover. This will turn the phone from the blue variant to the white variant completely...all for about $60.

I just did this on Monday of this week. I got my parts from eBay. You will still need to order the silver/white sim tray which I also found on eBay.
In addition I went with the Moto X Pro back instead of the white one.

Damnit, so does it feel something like the black Nexus 5? that weird soft/gel type feel?
Also, looking at the middle plate that I ordered and it seems like I only need to swap out the camera and a couple of other things. The small delicate pieces seem to come with the new housing. The battery being the biggest thing to have to remove, should go smoothly tho since I'm not separating the digitizer from the front glass.
Did you have any hiccups or anything like that?
Oh, I have a white Moto X and it looks like the sim tray is the same part number as the tray of the Nexus 6, so I'll just swap them over. Where did you find the replacement battery cover for the Moto X Pro?

Ohhh you did the polishing thing? That's awesome. What all did you have to transfer over from your complete middle plate to the new white plate? I'll be able to tell once I get my hands on it but it would be nice to know what to expect.
If there was a way to flat black the entire bezel, I'd be down for that. Similar to the black HTC one.

Hey did you have an issue with the adhesive on the back cover? meaning did your replacement back come with adhesive already attached? I've seen that you can purchase the adhesive separately so I wasn't sure if it comes with the cover.

Mine came with the adhesive already attached. It is a real pain in the a$$ to get the stock one off. I use a heat gun to warm it up a little and it helped a lot!
At first I thought it might be tough to line the new one up on the first try but it was easy. I pulled off the adhesive backing fully and then lined the top up with the camera hole and it went down fine.

All of the parts came in the mail yesterday, so that's the middle plate, tools and white back battery cover (with adhesive attached). I went through TMO to get yet another warranty replacement since my power button is kind of wonky, so I'll have a couple of N6's to take apart and compare to make sure things are done correctly.
Thanks for the tips.

I was going to wait to switch to my polished aluminum frame until I got another back because I when I took my stock blue one off I scratched it up a bit.
But since I found that video I went ahead and switched the frames out again before the other back I ordered came.
I don't think I have ever received so many compliments on a phone (and I've had almost every flagship phone) as I have on my Nexus 6 with the polished aluminum frame and Moto X Pro back.

Colour coming off the corner of the black international version

Hi, just wanted to know if anyone else has the same problem as me. About two weeks ago I bought the Black International version, but today I noticed that on one of the corners of the metal housing the colour has started to wear off, revealing the silver metal beneath. Is this a common problem? Maybe it's just the black version that has this problem?
Thank you
Thats really bad. What did you do? I just ordered the black version and i am a little shocked because Xiaomi build quality has always been great.
I didn't really do anything special (no drops or anything), I just used it normally. I have been in talks with the shop where I bought it from, and they said the same thing - that the build quality is usually great. They are going to ship me a new one though, so hopefully that one won't have the same problem.
