[Q] VOLTE - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

has anyone with a pure edition on at&t been able to get volte to work?

no

AT&T doesn't really offer volte. If they do, is very market specific.

Yea I live in southeastern Virginia and we have volte here. Just trying to figure out what has to be done to the phone to make it work.

Certain SOC codes need to be added to your AT&T account to enable VoLTE. However, the Moto X is not compatible with the service. (Yet.)

Verizon MotoX 2014 on TMobile?

Has anybody tried to get a Verizon MotoX 2014 to work on TMobile?
I was in a store today and got an activated sim card to test in mine and nothing we did made it able to get ANY data at all.
I want to move to TMo eventually but I really don't want to buy a new phone.
Did you enable data roaming? I have a pure edition and data roaming has to be enabled to work with T-mobile. Probably the same with the Verizon variant.

Yes, it works. I had one and had 4g and LTE, sms/MMS, and tethering to work. BUTTTT, it's not ideal as it's missing one of the frequencies for either 4g or LTE (I forgot), so the signal is weaker than a Pure edition on t-mo.
You need to add all the proper APN information. You can find that if you search for "t-mobile apn"

T-Mobile to Verizon Wifi Calling

Hello all,
I have a T-Mobile variant of the S10. I desperately need wifi calling and the option is not there since I switched to Verizon (same T-Mobile variant S10). I'm assuming this is a software limitation and I need the Verizon bloatware. Anybody know if flashing Verizon will work? I'm assuming I just use Odin and the stock rom. Been awhile since I've messed with all this stuff. Is there a good tutorial to look at? Thanks for any help!
Flashing the Verizon firmware will probably do it, if it has wifi calling. I know the AT&T firmware has wifi calling because I am on it. You have to have a snapdragon though, flashing to an exynos variant won't work.

Wifi Calling

Hello All!
Im new at this topic, because some weeks ago, i bought a z3 play phone, i coming from a moto maxx (quark) from motorola..
I want to know how i can enable vowifi/ wifi calling for use with my z3 play, because i cant found this option on the menu, when i search it, only appears the option for "enhanced 4G mode" that include Volte calls (volte works well and wifi calling works in other phones but with my z3 play no) but i want use with wifi calling, currently im using android pie, and the model is, XT1929-6, opencl channel.
can some one help me with this?, could be useful change to other stock rom?, opencl -> retla, or retail?, the current software compilation is: PPWS29.131-27-1-11
Thanks you a lot!

I have bought this phone on carrier called claro, if I install lineage or resurrection remix could be use wifi calling or volte ?
I mean what carrier are you using it on? If you using Claro Argentina then perhaps it should work. If you're trying to use it on another ClaroNetwork I'm not sure. you need to specify what network and what country that you're going to use it on as well as what network and what country the model is. For Verizon they only support Wi-Fi calling on models they sell. The same with AT&T.

My carrier is claro chile, in my case. When I use other simcard(with volte is working on other phone) in this phone. Not works, but if I use the. Claro simcard only appears volte.
I want to know if flash the resurrection remix. For example, could be possible use both services. But I’m not sure if this work or not. Up today I don’t know for someone that are using resurrection that says if volte / vowifi works in this custom rom.

VoLTE and Wifi Calling support

Would like to know if these features are supported for the major US carriers. That's the only thing holding me back from pre-ordering.

I know U.S. T-Mobile supported the XZ3 for VoLTE, which was the FIRST Sony unlocked phone it did that for. Your best bet to find out is prob to go check out other like 2019 or 2020 unlocked phones that people have VERIFIED to offer both on AT&T as well. But if that's an issue, then you may wanna consider T-Mobile then. I noticed on the XZ3 that in Call Settings there no longer was the option to turn VoLTE on or off, but during calls it REMAINED in 4G LTE (vs. just 4G), thereby proving VoLTE was in fact enabled.
The US Xperia 1 supported voLTE on T-Mobile, but not WiFi calling. So I'm assuming the mark II would at least do voLTE on T-Mobile. Not sure about the other carriers, but I feel like it would have to since carriers like Verizon are starting to not allowing non voLTE devices to be activated. And the mark II is supposed to work on Verizon.

How is this a solution? Switching carriers lol
I want to preorder, but really need WiFi calling. Going to wait until regular users start to receive theirs. Right now with Xfinity Mobile we are paying about $30 per month for 5 lines. The service is as good as when we were Verizon postpaid. Not willing to switch just for this phone.
Anyone in the UK on O2 get it?

Yup, got both (see attached)
I have none of those settings there.
I also don't get 4g+ don't know if that's related?
I get 4g+ if I put the missus Vodafone sim in.

I should have mentioned also that I'm actually on the "Customized UK" firmware opposed to the "O2 UK Pay Monthly firmware" but I had WiFi calling for sure prior to this
So my Xperia 1 ii arrived today, I'm finishing-up set-up. This is the US model, which I'm using with ATT. The deep dive *#*#7378423#*#* on the software info page states: "Current modem config: VoLTE-ATT "
But have yet to find any configuration for VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling. I'll try a call with one of the other lines in my family, who have ATT branded newish phones, to see if it "sounds" like an HD Voice call (there's not notification bar indicator of HD call, right?).
Update: Tried the other *#*#4636#*#* and the options under Phone Info are all grayed out (sigh)

You have to call ATT to whitelist your new IMEI for VoLTE provisioning. Then you need to make sure a new sim that supports VoLTE. This is what they told me but I'm missing the new sim, going to get one tomorrow
Thank you.,I'll give that a try. My SIM is the supposedly latest, about 2 years old, i. e. "A compatible SIM or eSIM card will display 25, 26, 27, or 28 in the ninth and tenth digits spots." Is there a newer SIM for ATT?
So had the following chat with ATT tech support:
"... Calista : To confirm, was the device purchased through AT&T?
Me : No, this is an unlocked phone, US model of Sony Xperia 1 ii
Calista : Thanks for the confirmation.
Calista : I have successfully activated VoLTE on the new device.
Calista : I have also checked and see that Wi-FIi calling can only be provisioned only on the device that are purchased through AT&T. However, AT&T will soon activate WiFi calling on the device that are not purchased through AT&T as well. You will be notified about this. "
However after power-cycling my phone and reprovisioning via Testing/Phone Information and on that page the steps of Refresh to get the SMSC number then tap Trigger Carrier Provisioning"--nothing, not VoLTE live switch. Remains gray. Still, interesting comment by tech support about upcoming Wi-Fi calling on BYOE.
Anyone know about VoLTE on Verizon yet? Just ordered my phone today and hoping that it will work.

Those tech support chats are useless! Took me 4 calls/chat to get to one knowledgeable one who said they have to file a level 3 tech support ticket and as she was doing it she said our internal memo said this cannot be done for non-AT&T branded phones so I'm sorry
Why not just use Google Voice for wifi calling? I use Google Voice for just about everything now as it's a nice alternative to giving up my number to random businesses.
Is it possible, to install the VoLTE/VoWifi carrier settings by an app (as .apk)?
My problem is that Sony didn't include these settings for Swiss carriers. So I am thinking about, how to add these settings without breaking the firmware.

VoLTE is required to continue to use AT&T after they sunset 3G and 4G (without VoLTE). Speaking of Google, they've confirmed to me that this phone (US version) works fine on their Google Fi, supporting VoLTE, which is interesting in that Google Fi is an MVNO via Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular.
So if I give ATT an IMEI for a Nokia Lumia 830 or Microsoft Lumia 640XL (both on AT&T's "good" list) to associate with my SIM in my Xperia, will my Xperia be provisioned by AT&T with VoLTE & Wi-Fi calling?

VoLTE and WIFI calling in US

Hi everyone,
Have a global version of X5 Pro.
Trying to make VoLTE and VoWIFI working on T-Mobile in US but no luck.
No toggles in SIM settings and toggles in Phone Info are grayed out.
Any ideas to activate it?
Same with me, I started another thread or two concerning this issue but I believe it has to do with T-Mobile's VoLTE/Wifi-calling provisioning relative to the Find X5 Pro's firmware?
Of course the phone supports VoLTE and WiFi-Calling, so I'm not sure why at least the latter won't work (or at least have a toggle). If you google 'how to enable WiFi calling', most people tell you to set (or re-set) your E911 address because it's a necessary feature of WiFi calling. Ive done this on the T-Mobile website AND with a support rep on the phone, but still no toggle to enable.
I haven't found anything about this outside of XDA so perhaps it's time to submit a ticket directly to Oppo.
Edit: could anyone from the EU/UK chime in on whether they have the toggle options for VoLTE/WiFi-calling? I think we need to identify whether the problem is based on region/carrier rather than the phone.
Pulled from a recent T-Mobile forum post about the same issue (but on multiple different phones):
"In order to enable WiFi calling from an unlocked phone, there appear to be several components which all need to align perfectly. The the phone must have the physical capability, obviously a WiFi antenna. It also seems to rely on VoLTE provisioned and WiFi calling provisioned abilities.
The former carrier must have unlocked the device and its IMEI for use on another carrier.
The current carrier must have enabled WiFi calling, and also configured an E911 address.
"Exactly! The firmware in the Sprint S8 is not compatible with T-Mobile’s WiFi Calling implementation. XDA might offer some work around through flashing or root, but through normal methods, WiFi Calling on such an old device that actually has carrier specific firmware isn’t going to work with a different carrier for those feature implementations. "

Vodafone Germany: Custom Firmware with VF branding, but no SIM- or Netlock
VoLTE has no toggle but is activated by default, VoWiFi has a toggle and works.
