[SOUNDS][5.0 LOLLIPOP] Flashable - Nexus 6 Themes and Apps

Hey all,
I am simply posting this flashable zip I put together thanks to @dwitherell for the 5.0 vr zip.
I am sure many of you are like me and are sick of flashing roms with KitKat sounds on your new Nexus 6. This should help resolve the issue:
Instructions:
Please flash at your own risk, I am not responsible for any issues. Make a backup first
1. Download an app like root explorer and delete your media folder from /system.
2. Wipe Cache/Dalvik then Flash this zip and you should have 5.0 Lollipop sounds back on your device.
*Note: I included stock 5.0 bootanimation.zip in this as well only because I needed it to get rid of an unwanted custom boot animation.
This will also delete outdated sounds
You can add whatever boot ani you want to this zip in the same location or delete the boot animation from the zip.
Cheers,
Baja

Thank you for your time and giving back to the community. I have a need for just this type of file. Yes, it is easy to do but automating the process it makes it nice and easy.

Bajasur, I can't thank you enough for this! All the Kitkat sounds in all these Lollipop ROMs was driving me crazy!

Thank you! I agree. It is frustrating to have outdated sounds in most roms. You guys are about to get a treat though from @BeansTown106...

Already tested the "treat" myself, runs very smooth. Quick question, what's the difference between what you have posted here and this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57945551, just curious.

Hi!
Will this zip run on other CM12 roms or it is better to copy the files manuel to system media, set permissions and reboot? I'm on Note 10.1 p600 running Temasek cm12 unofficial. Thanks for reply!

You most likely should be able to flash it, but I'd highly recommend copying your existing system/media/audio folder to your internal memory, and NOT the root of your internal memory, since your device will try to pull sounds from that new location on boot if you don't create a differently named folder in the of the SD memory folder (ie, make a folder on the internal and name it something like "stock sounds," then place the ones you copied in system into that subfolder).
After you've done the above, extract and push the same-named files from the zip linked in the OP to their respective locations in system/media/audio, fix permissions for each, and reboot. This seems tedious, but it's the more conservative approach.
Good luck!

repack with PA bootanimation
Thank you very much for the flashable zip. I went ahead and repacked it with the PA bootanimation, which is created with a higher framerate but looks the same as stock. You can grab it from my Google Drive: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bw-aZKY98vPCSXdDdVdNeDVweWM/edit?usp=docslist_api
(the bootanimation.zip is from the Nexus 9 version, notify me if it doesn't work on smaller screens)

di11i's ROM and Themes - Q&A

@everyone
ROM thread: link
ROM themes thread: link
I created this Q&A thread for this ROM to prevent tons of new threads about ROM specific questions from new users. Please feel free to post any questions here.
When posting a question, please make sure to mention:
ROM version
Kernel and version
Any theme, if applicable
Modem, if applicable
Also, please give some time for your question to be answered. Devs in particular are pretty busy churning out something or other for us. So be patient.
1. No question is too noobish, but please learn to do a search first, be it on this thread, or some other thread in this forum.
2. Before asking any questions regarding task killers and why they shouldn't be used, I would recommend reading this post: Android Memory Management

Glad to be of some help dilli. Thought this might help reduce Q&A style posts on the ROM thread.
I stopped even coming to 'dev' forums to look for ROMs since I know most ROMs now would be 2.2.1 based at the most, and well I feel I am on the best possible ROM already. Most of my time now is in the Q&A and General sections outside our three threads (ROM, themes, and this new Q&A now).
Sup my glitter ball bruthers,
Been using gballs sincemy first flash cuz it seemed to have the least problems and the best support and satisfaction....firstflashed 2/13. I am using suckerpunch #51 1ooomhz (so f'ing fast i need too slow down) also using dillis bluetheme and the latest add on
I was just wondering about modems. it seems there are newer modems than the one that is included with dilies6.0 .... jl2, i believe. Am i just confused or should i consider a different modem, if so why, or why not?
ive also noticed a new service since the newest addon other than the new keyboard service running all the time and periodically starting and restarting
It is called Sns service ... do i need this service?
If not how can i get rid of it?
Oh and,
Gballs Unite!!!!!!
Running di11i v6, unthemed, no mods/changes. (Been on it nearly 2 weeks....very nice.) Can't do adb remount - it returns Permission denied. Tried other threads suggestions to similar problem. TiBU works and shows busybox, SU shows TiBU as having root access. Reflashed di11i again along with TiBU but still having same issue.
Haven't ever had to post before - you guys do a great job; easy to follow along in other threads. I just can't seem to find an answer that works.
* Just noticed with adb shell> su the phone prompts for allowing SU permission for the shell. Even though I allowed it, I still can't remount (displays "operation not permitted" now). So it's definately not a problem with the ROM/add-ons - never really thought so but....if anyone has any ideas.
official 2.2 tomorrow.

Learning as much as I can from Mobile Tech Vids. Got the OC Di11i 6.0. How do I add the Blue theme. Downloaded your version 3 and 5 (want to put boot anni on the 5). I know the answer is starring me in the face, I'm just not seeing it. Thanx.
BTW- Been using Bay_Wolf's AIO Captivate toolbox. So...I've kinda been cheating and doing things the easy way....which means there's alot I'm not familiar with.
Also-If I change wallpapers, how do I get the Android wallpaper back without re-flashing the rom? (I'll prob keep comming up with a bunch of dumb questions, sorry. I hardly even know how to use this forum ex: what are stars and what's up with the thanks meter?)

Option 1 (simplest)
Apply 3, reboot, then apply 5. Simple and straight forward method if u do not want to mess around.
Option 2 (easy)
Apply 5.
Copy the zip attached to this post "as it is" into ur /system/media folder using an app like 'root explorer'.
Option 3 (depends on ur current skill level)
Open the v5 in winzip or winrar.
Create a folder called 'media' in the 'system' folder (the folder in which u see the 'framework' and 'app' folders).
Copy this zip 'as it is' into that.
Apply the updated v5.
Option 4 (simplest and easiest)
Check the links post (post 4). I will update with a link to v5 with boot animation included.
My mistake: I just downloaded the zip. It includes the boot animation Sorry about the confusion. Looks like I uploaded the zip with boot animation.
Biggest Noob you've ever seen!!!
I don't evenknow how to apply them in the first place. lol

Assuming u r on dilli's ROM, u would have clock work recovery console already loaded. Steps below based on that assumption:
1. Copy the theme zip to ur SD card root.
2. Boot into clockwork recovery mode (press n hold power button, and select recovery in the options there).
3. Install the zip file using the option 'apply zip from SD card', then 'select zip from sd card' and then selecting the theme zip file (words framed may not be exact but convey the same anyways).
Only if u r NOT on dilli's ROM:
If u are on some other ROM, and not have CWM console, or u do not know what that is:
1. Rename the theme file to 'update.zip',
2. Copy this update.zip to ur SD card root
3. Go into recovery mode (press n hold power button, and select recovery in the options there)
4. Select the option there that says something like 'apply: update.zip'

[BOOTANIMATION]My custom boot animations (updated Nov 14th)

All you need is to put it in the correct folder depending on your rom. I recommend root explorer to put them in the right place. FYI these dont work as downanimations. You are welcome to mod them as you see fit but.

Since they are boot animations thats why I figured the videos would be better.Even if I post pics I would need to post many to get an idea of the full boot screen.
Ill see what I can do
Yeap,
Boot animations --> animated graphics --> hard to get the idea with some pics.
I just thought that this was the reason that strauts asked for the pics.
Currently downloading them all to check them out

So, after a LONG time without enough free time to do it, I am finally trying to change my boot animation, but it seems I am not able to get rw access to the /system/customize/resource folder using Astro or Terminal Emulator even if my phone is rooted... I guess I would have to remount the partition as rw, but i'd like to avoid that so I wounder if using adb as following would be the right thing to do, or am I missing something?
-adb remount
-adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
-adb reboot
Thanks!

I'm not good at adb so may not be of much help but my best recommendation would be to buy root explorer off the market.
Its worth the money and will let you navigate and copy paste and write to system without adb and I can't tell you how simple it has made my life when it comes to bootanimations

[MOD][MDC]Disable Increasing Ringtone (modded SecPhone.apk)

Description
The Galaxy S4, like its predecessors and some other devices, has a hardcoded "increasing ring" feature where the ringtone starts out quiet and gradually gets louder, reaching full volume in about 3 or 4 seconds. Some people don't want this (like me).
There are two ways to work around this behavior. First, you can use an app, such as Disable Increasing Ring. The advantage is that you don't need root. The disadvantage is that now you have an app running 24/7, using up memory unnecessarily, albeit a very small amount. The second solution is to patch the SecPhone.apk. That's what this mod does.
Most of the credit goes to gharrington in this post whose method I used to patch SecPhone.apk.
Feel free to use in ROMs, redistribute, etc., but remember to give credit.
Instructions
As with all mods, nandroid backup in case something goes wrong. This mod is provided as-is, use at your own risk, etc.
You can install this one of two ways. The ZIP file can be installed from pretty much any recovery, such as TWRP. It will automatically clear cache/dalvik. Or you can manually copy over the APK with a root file explorer.
Note
I'm using a MDC ROM currently, so I modded the SecPhone.apk that came with MDC. I don't know if that particular apk has changed in later official ROM updates. I can easily perform this mod on newer versions if someone wants to PM me newer SecPhone.apk file in /system/app. I'll try to keep this thread up-to-date as newer updates come down the pipe for as long as I have this device.

It appears as though you can flash the zip in recovery. The .apk is also attached, so you could move that to system/app to replace your existing secphone.apk, set permissions and reboot. Or you could adb push the .apk to the system/app directory and adb reboot. I'm pretty sure any of those methods will work.
Any chance of getting call record enable in your apk?

Well I applied the necessary patches, but it didn't work. The button appears, but the button doesn't activate anything or sometimes the phone app just crashes when you press it. It just might not work with MDC as I saw others stating basically the same thing with MDC ROMs. You can try the MDN version in that post. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about what's going on behind the scenes, so I don't know how to debug this. It's too bad because call record would be really handy.
Still waiting on ForceROM to update to MDL then I can get to work on the MDL version.
Can you post the file so I can try it? Im on ForceROM running MDL...

Update TWRP

I am currently on TWRP 2.7.0.0 installed by AutoRec (24a originally)... can I just download TWRP 2.7.1.0 from Team Won't website and flash the zip, or is there anything special I need to do to upgrade? Is it even worth upgrading, I have had no issues with 2.7.0.0

TWRPs official zip won't flash on VZW. They put in the wrong Loki flash again. Official 2.7.1 has a screen timeout bug too. If you let it timeout, it won't come back on. You can always go to screen settings and disable the timeout. I'd recommend dr87's custom TWRP. He has thermal control enabled and its built with his own custom 4.4 kernel. His kernel fixed that timeout bug. Plus he added knock on. I've been using it and based the G2 TWRP Holofied zips on it
Dumb question... Where is the thread for it, I looked but in Tapatalk sometimes its tough.

Here's a direct link to his with the stock curtain https://www.mediafire.com/folder/1wdwa8648lu7n/TWRP and here's my thread if you want themed ones http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2665527

Was my Dropbox acting weird? I just downloaded and tried all 3. They flashed fine. Also what was the file size on those 3 of mine?
:highfive::good: You have to rename zip file to "ui" for theme of choice, in recovery go to file manager and replace ui.zip in themes folder in TWRP to the new zip you renamed, 644 permissions, reboot theme, profit!! :highfive::good:
Or if @soundgirl101 is correct, you didn't download the actual recovery. Screenshot what you tried to flash of mine if you will please

I think Dropbox was being weird, the links said 9.1mb, but the files I actually got were like 45kb... I'll play with it some more and see if I can get it to go.
EDIT: Yeah, I grabbed the Play Store curtained one, got 9.1mb, and it was fine this time, sorry for the false alarm.

That's OK. I'd rather know if there was a problem so I could put them somewhere else. I had someone else trying to download a Gapps package from my Dropbox the other day...they were having issues with it too. Like 3 minutes for it just to start downloading. I'm thinking Dropbox is having server troubles the last few days, or it just sucks. Lol

Just to clarify, I have dr87's twrp so all I need to do is dl then flash? I like the idea of a themed recovery, sounds legit!

There's a tiny bit more than just flashing. Basically 2 parts. The zips you flash in recovery from my thread are dr87s TWRP. But the splash image has been changed. I have to unpack the recovery and swap the image in the ramdisk. Normal themes can't touch that. So pick which splash screen you want and flash it. Then in the OP of my thread you'll also see a link that says "these go in your TWRP/theme folder." Download one of those, and move it to the TWRP/theme folder on your internal storage. Rename the zip to "ui.zip" without the quotes. Now reboot to recovery and everything will look totally different. And prettier.

[BootAnimation] Nexus 6 Boot Animation Archive Thread

Alright, so I was trying to find some boot animations for my new N6, but couldn't find a dedicated thread. So, I'm going to create this Archive thread. Please, if you have a unique animation and would like to share it, send the file via email to [email protected] and I will host them and place them on here. Please also include original developer's information!! If you see one here that is yours, feel free to message me and let me know; I will update the information.
Thanks devs for all your hard work helping us enjoy our devices!

For those who are new to modding boot animations, or simply looking for an easier way, I recommend Boot Animation * Root on Google Play and the Local function.

Rename the original by adding .bak at the end. So it'll look like:
bootanimation.zip.bak
Only flash bootanimation.zip in recovery if stated in OP. If not then you push (force) it in by going into system/media, rename original as stated above, paste the one you want into the media folder and set permissions to rw-r-r.

Yes, but then I did a little "spring cleaning" (in the fall, though, so "fall cleaning"?) and forgot I had this post. I just updated the URL and got the one file I ever got linked properly.
Does anyone have the Moto X boot animation? The links in the thread for it are all dead.
I would like to make my own animation, but don't know how.
