I just want to use it as an overgrown MP3 player to sync with my Google Play Music and Spotify accounts and hopefully save on battery life as much as possible. I have no need to still use it as a phone (there's no SIM card for it anyway), but I still want to keep the wifi and bluetooth connectivity.
Thanks.

Any way at all to keep browser open in background so that I can lock it and have something streaming still? I've been listening to radio 1 from the BBC and I always have to keep it unlocked and have the browser open....

Use skyfire.
Nope. I'm curious as to why no one else has posted this before. I stream music and I don't want my battery to be drained cause of the screen being on. Is there a setting in sky fire that I am missing?

Hey guys I was just wondering if it were possible to modify
the YouTube app or even develop a new one that can gain full access to the website (no more unavailable on mobile devices ) and the ability to turn off the screen while listening to normal music videos (no music stopping ).
I find it annoying to have the screen on while just listening to a normal song which mainly display still pictures

music sync from phone
hi Same here
i've just received acceptation for music beta invitation, and I've been able to upload music from my laptop to my google music account.
I can now listen to music through my google account via web browser (laptop and phone)
The only probleme is that I can't manage to get access to this cloud from the music app (the new one) on my HD2.
note : There's no option in my google account manager for google music (like picasa, mail or contacts)
note 2 : would that trouble come from the fact that I'm in france ?
I haven't tried to access through the browser, will give that a shot now. I'm guessing that we will have app access after the beta. I hope anyways

I uninstalled the music app from my hd2 then installed app from music beta website(directed me to google web app site). Music app on phone then worked. Hit menu settings to access music on computer. Hope this helps.
I have it on my HD2 it took like 36 hrs after being invited for the app on my phone to actually connect with the cloud servers, now works great!!
Heed Beergenius
Try what beergenius suggested. I installed the Music Beta app to my phone prior to getting the invitation. Once I received the invitation and uploaded all my music I was still unable to access it from phone. I looked under my account sync and there was no music option. Uninstalled Music app and reinstalled. All my music instantly appeared and when looking under account sync, music checkbox was now available.
I folks from Canada. If you feel like you're Nexus 4 don't have enough storage like me. (I have a 8G for now.)
I know a way to enable Google Music in our country. Google Music will give you the opportunity to put your music in the cloud, so when you will be somewhere with Wifi you will be able to enjoy your music.
This how it works :
Install tunelbear
( http://www.tunnelbear.com/)
This will make you virtually a citizen of United States where Google Music is available.
Then go to the Web site of Google Music
( music.google.com)
Downlaud the music manager
Install it
After unistall the music app from your phone an reinstall it.
You're ready to go.

Might wanna add that you do not have to keep tunnel bear active after the first use. It is only for authentication.

I did this a while ago with Tor browser. I've had Google Music for a while. Barely saves space unless you're always connected to wifi or you have unlimited data.
Here's the link i followed: http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/19/how-to-use-google-music-from-anywhere-yes-outside-of-the-unit/
I wanted a change from IOS. This is my first andriod device and I chose it because of the size and battery. I was wondering if you guys can give me any advice on andriod or anything that i should do to make my experience that much better. Apps to download, things to do. Im bumbed verizon took away my unlimited data which SUCKS! Also its only 16gb of storage what are you guys doing about music on your phone? Any advice would be great. Thanks
How do I make my text messages always vibrate instead of ring, while keeping my calls on ring

I never sync my phone to my pc
I use google music to store my music in the cloud and playback on my device
I don't really play games but here are a few of my favorite apps
Noom Walk
Hangouts
Netflix
Chrome
Titanium Backup
ES File Explorer
TeamViewer
Tesla LED
Auto Brightness
DoggCatcher
google Keep
3D Image Live Wallpaper
Chrome to Phone
Fast Burst Camera
Parcels
Runkeeper
Everything you had on your iPhone try to put on this phone. I use the regular Google music app. Not quite sure what you want to do with notifications you can't really edit them like iOS. Also what do you want to sync because Google music syncs wirelessly if you set it up right. Google keep (notes) syncs wirelessly. Photos you can sync wirelessly with Google+
moto X
Thank you keep it coming.
Ive never used google music. I want to sync to my computer to get my music from itunes. Also does using google music suck up data?

You can use Google's music manager to upload (for free) up to 20000 songs to Google's cloud from iTunes. Google music on your phone will sync with that, and it will use data unless you decide to make your music available locally. You can decide which music to store locally, then download it while on Wi-Fi. So the music you listen to most won't use data, but for songs you only listen to occasionally, they won't take up space on your device.
