I wanted to update to the new release.. I have root and TWRP on my Note... I ovi cannot download the update on my phone.. What are the steps in getting the download and to update with a Note that is root and flashed recovery?
Sorry I did try to look for a thread before posting this... I guess Im asking can I just download it and update or not because im rooted and have TWRP??? Please help

You need to odin back to your stock current baseband to update, just follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...sy-steps-stock-odin-n910tuvu1anih-cf-t2903733

I am currently on ANJ7 and I have been ignoring the system update.
Is the update worth it? Does it bring any fixes or features (other than DTIgnite) that you would consider worthwhile?

true maybe ill just wait for lollipop

Only noticeable difference for me is when pressing the recent app hard key, it's a bit faster on NK4

Another firmware update, already?

If I update will I still be able to root?

when i got my note 4 i was on anj7 and i had rooted and everything before i realized i need to be on NK4 \ so i just odined the full NK4 file back to stock, including bootloader. and then rooted and twrp from there

[Q] When to root?

Hi friends,
had some queries regarding when to do the root+CWM and if it will conflict with new updates from samsung.
1. is it best to root as soon as i buy a fresh phone? or should i apply all the updates (if any) and then proceed for the root.
2. should i do a clean format before root. will it conflict with any install of apps. should i install apps after root?
3. what about future updates? will i be able to continue receiving new updates?
4. what is the specific files required to unroot and go back to stock? where can i find my stock zimage. any other files and apps required please inform. I'm using Indian version.
i went through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
this dr.ketans stock roms list but im not very clear about it.
thanks a lot

1. Better to update to new firmware then to root (Update only to Rootable FW)
2. No need to clean format before root.
3. After rooting you wont receive any updates from Samsung.
4. Stock ROM and odlin, KL3 is the last update found in India and its rootable
3. so we'll have to unroot, update to new version and then try to root again?
After unroot u need to factory reset to get updates i guess.

1. I dont see any reason to w8, I have rooted in half n hr of my purchase. I wrote the post how to Root before my purchased (Available in India quite later). But it is your nice question regarding pre or post update, First you updates if any available so you may not need to Re-Root. Just keep in mind If your updates is KL7/KL8, then you have to Root it first.
2. It is always better to Root in clean condition(as soon update ROM), though there is no Rule.
3. No and Yes, No incase you want updates from Kies
Yes in case you can Flash any ROM with Odin
4. You are Indian then I can confirm few more thing, Your last update is KL1
purchased state you may have KK1, just update over OTA, now you will have KL1
Now Root. Dont worry regarding Stock Kernel, Just send Me PM whenever you may need Indian Kernel
To Root , use link in my signature.

Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A (AT&T) PA1 update 3/9/2016

The new update for G-900A Samsung Galaxy S5 was launched on 9 march. I can't update my phone because I'm not in USA.
Can anyone post the OTA file or the .zip file to manual update my S5? I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for the update.
See link
I have the same problem. I just got my phone back to normal after flashing the previous update as update.zip on an external sd card from the recovery screen. I'd like to install this update without losing all of my data again but I'm not sure it is possible when abroad. Very annoying!

Requires root. In addition, those files are not a complete PA1 update zip file. They require Odin. Please stop referencing that thread to folks looking for the PA1 update zip.

Hi guys, i have no idea of this phone, I own a S3 i9300, with TWRP and tried CM11, 12 and 13, also installed CM and TWRP on other phones like i9303, i9070, etc..
Now a friend bougth this phone and hates the 4.4.2 stock rom full of bloatware and branded.
Can anyone point me out to a nice CM rom for this phone (I didn't found any official or unofficial), this update thall all talks about PA1, will be good for that mobile? He says that the OTA updates shows no new updates... I didn't put my hands on the phone yet, so I want to be prepared for what i shall try...
Is there another debranded rom (with no verizon bloatware)?
Is it dangerous to try to flash a variant like SM-G900M, or so..?
Thanks in advance!!

Huawei P9 - Android 6 to 7 Firmware

Hi all,
Ive been a fair while out of flashing ROMs since Note 4 Edge / HTC M7 and have today unlocked bootloader and rooted my P9.
It is currently Australian Vodafone release EVA-L09CC346B160 (Android 6) but I want Nougat.
There is no local carrier updates available but I understand that there is Android 7 available in Australia on 'international' branded handsets.
How can I identify what this firmware is for international Nougat? Can some one assist me. Or can someone advise what would be a suitable equivalent firmware that I can use in place of.
I am unsure how this device goes in flashing ROMs of higher or lower android versions on the current firmware and dont really want to brick it.
Thanks for any tips / suggestions
Umm, just found a thread mentioning L09C636B361 - will check this out, but is there any more recent? And still how does fl;ashing other premade ROMs on 7 go on top of the current Android 6 firmware go?.. Ta

using this guide you can update to the latest nougat release
Thank yuo Xtcislove
I have completed the steps suggested and now have Nougat. Though it is a newer version being .383 which was updated via OTA to .378 and then zip to .383.
Thank you for the help
I'm trying to flash firmware on my P9, now I have EVA-L09C40B181, but it stuck on 5% and HiSuite shows Recovery failed! I tried custom firmware, same problem. What can I do ?
Dfani511 - just follow the instructions in the thread provided by Xtcislove, it works but took me a long time.
I found the steps concerning the update to be added in dload was a little not clear, in the update zip that's downloaded, you need to open it until you get the dload folder, extract that and copy to the SD card.
Throughout my updating, o never ended up on the firmware you have
This N seems to be working fine, nicer looking.
I do have 1 issue, no matter what I do I can not get root to work. I'm on .383, can this one be rooted or not currently? If it can, how do I root .383? I have TWRP 3.1.0.3 as current recovery..
Or, is that ok to flash on my current P9 L09C432B383 ? from this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/root-pre-rooted-boot-img-p9-nougat-b378-t3574548
The stock and pre-rooted boot.img states its form .378 but would it be ok on .383?
I dont know how to get root on it currently...

This is what I did to root my Huawei P9 on Nougat L09C432B383:
Use the SuperSU-v.27.9-201612051815EMUI5.0.zip file flash via custom recovery and it should root your device no problem.

Hey xtcislove - is there a preferred version? 1, 2 or 3 do you recommend? Thanks mate
--------------
EDIT - Nevermind, Xtcislove, your the best man, appreciate your help with your guides etc. I went with option 1 and the handset is now rooted on Nougat. Thanks so much

3 is the version i preffer, you cant freeze apps with v1 but most things should work fine.
btw you can flash v3 over v1.
Ive flashed v3 over 1 and all appears good, root working fine. Thanks again.
Though I have noticed on both v1 and v3 that SuperSU binary needs to be updated, ob both v1 and v3. The phone fails to update both, states unsuccessful and to reboot, which also does not update the binary.
Only other thing I have done is to get BusyBox.
What can be done about the failing binary update? Will it be fine to leave as is, just getting rid of the prompt when it appears, or does it really need to have the update done sometime?

I am not getting the G950USQU2CRB9 OTA update on beta G950USQU2CRA5

Why am I not getting it? I checked for system updates and it says I am already up to date, but everyone is saying Oreo is out now.
I have crc5. So, somehow I have an even newer version. I would guess we need to go back to the last Verizon Android v7 to have the OTA work.
Good to know. Guess I need to find a firmware download for it and flash it manually with odin

I could not find an OTA to go from CRA5 to the official CRB9. However, above is a link to the official firmware from verizon.

I can't update my phone once reverted back to stock firmware after rooting.

Here's the problem. I rooted my Note 9 a while back. I wanted to try ASOP roms, while I like the experience in general, there was just a lot I was giving up such as camera performance and samsung features. I decided to go back to stock firmware. I precisely remember I was on the august security patch before I rooted. So, I flash the stock firmware, Australian version, through odin and I checked I was on the July security patch. Now, I realized that September patch is also rolling out yet I am still stuck on July patch. There is just no update showing. It says its already update. I have already certified my device by play protect again, if some of you think that may be the problem. So, now what do I do?

But then I'll lose all my data again. I am tired of going back and forth. Is there any way I can update through odin without losing my data?

Yes. You can download any firmware. As long as it is the same as your device. Oh, and if you went back to an old version and it is rooted, it will not appear any updates.
