I am downloading the TWRP backup right now :good:
But one question. Do I have to reinstall the recovery after installing the TWRP backup?
Thanks!

Thank you for the reply.
I am asking this because I flashed the TWRP backup of the 5.0.1 brazilian soak test and I had many bootloops (due to SuperSU which is now fixed) and also, I had no recovery (Android robot with warning when I tried to access it). So as SuperSU is now fixed I would like to give it another try.

Autorec doesn't use a zip, it just does the behind the scene things needed to flash TWRP then flashes it. Can you clarify what you're trying to do?

As far as I could see that latest AUTORec.apk installation is now included with TWRP already. After rooted my phone, installed AUTOREC, grant root and flashing customer recovery image straight aways, I could flash some ZIP file but not those ROM such VS98011A, VS98024A, VS98026A, etc all return FAIL - Can't Read Zip file. But I from AutoREC recovery menu, I could install Spirit ROM.zip and others.
Why only those stock ROM in zip format are FAIL to be flashed from within AUTOREC/TWRP ????

Autorec flashes TWRP, that's it, once in recovery you're just using TWRP. You can delete Autorec from your phone after you're done flashing TWRP. Anyway, you can't install stock releases via TWRP unless a dev modifies one to be flashed. Care to point to one of the zip's you're trying to flash?

If I recall correctly, AutoRec doesn't have the most up-to-date recovery built-in. I just flashed the latest afterward.

Correct, AutoRec comes with 2.7.0.0. I tried upgrading Twrp by flashing the latest Twrp zip and it failed. I guess it's just my device. I looked for the 2.8.1.0. Img file but couldn't find it.

Thanks but that's not the most current. 2.8.0.1 is in the bootstack.. i don't get why the 2.8.1.0 zip fails when I flash.. I guess I might have to try the bumped one.
Hi Everyone, I am Pushkar Dua just wanted to share a rooting guide for Nexus 5 Android 5.0.1
As many people Reported that Root has stopped working after the 5.0.1 Update or previous Binaries lead device to Boot Loop,
Please Download Latest Binaries That i am providing here: http://download.chainfire.eu/641/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip
And flash it with TWRP recovery..
Please Use TWRP Version 2.8.1.0 as people reported some problems in latest 2.8.2.0 version.
Downlaload TWRP 2.8.1.0
Please note: if you're having a problem with twrp 2.8.1.0 asking for password..
Please use twrp 2.0.4.5
just reboot to system and you will have root access..

Thanks a lot. Really helped solve my problem!
No problem
This doesn't belong in Development.
Actually i am not sure where should this be.. I'd request modders to please move it to the correct board!
Thanks man!

Since you've probably lost your custom recovery upgrading to 5.0.1, you can grab the TWRP images for Nexus 5 here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hammerhead
I believe you need to use 2.8.1.0 since 2.8.2.0 either doesn't work or is causing problems for many users.

Isn't CF-Auto root adding files from the 5.0 release over the 5.0.1 ? Isn't it safer to wait for a 5.0.1 autoroot?

How did you update from a rooted (with CF-Auto Root) 5.0 to 5.0.1 you just received the OTA and installed it without any problems ?
I like to know because i am on 5.0 stock just rooted with CF_Auto root.
So no more need for CF-Auto?
Just flashing SuperSU zip with TWRP is enough?
I flashed a Custom Rom Using TWRP which doesn't have any root permission...

Guys, i installed the 5.0.1 update by fastboot flashing system, boot and radio. I lost my custom recovery tho (CWR). I now tried to install TWRP, but after flashing the recovery image, the recovery still hasnt changed. Could i just flash CRW or should i use TWRP for this version?

This. I flash with it here since 4.4.4 and it did everything just fine. Not only it is an app to automatically root, but it gives very good hints, and provides lots of others features like installing Apks, getting a adb prompt, and so much more. Greatest third party Android app I have tried. Highly recommended, didn't even had to wait they update it for 5.0.1, as soon I got the 5.0.1 OTA notification, Nexus Root Toolkit was already ready for it.

This is lollipop security, custom recover wouldn't stick, after each reboot it will replaced with stock one, of course there is a way to make it sticky just search the forum.

That's always been enough. You can use Cf's auto root if you don't want to use a custom recovery.

Using PRFCreator, I've just created a flashable zip for the latest stock ROM 5.1.1 (C5503) 10.7.A.0.222 & 10.7.A.0.222 Nordic Combined.
The flashable zip will install the followings:
1. C5503 Generic NCB firmware
2. Pre-rooted using SuperSU 2.49 Beta
3. XZDualRecovery 2.8.23
I've tested it on my ZR originally running 5.02 rooted stock LB ROM. I used TWRP 2.8.7.0 to flash it and I just wiped Dalvik and cache so data partition is untouched.
If you're also using Xposed, boot your phone for the first time, then reboot your phone into TWRP again to flash the official Xposed framework (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811, sdk22). For unknown reason, I need to uninstall and re-install the Xposed Installer to run it successfully.

If you upgrade from 5.02 using this flashable zip, then you don't need to wipe data so your save games can be retained.

Hi already have. Look at his site under dual recovery and beta.
I have stock 5.1.1 (10.7.A.0.222) installed, and the phone is in its original condition after a factory reset, with no root, no unlocked bootloader, etc. What should I do if I want to have root? So far I could only find complicated instructions involving downgrading to older android, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
Is it possible to flash this with flashtool?
I am unable to install it through TWRP, it finishes installing very quickly without any error, but apparently does nothing.

What's your version of TWRP? I'm using the latest version of XZDualRecovery and TWRP should be 2.8.7.0.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606
TWRP is from XZDualRecovery 2.8.21.
Its version is 2.8.6.0.
Will try to find a newer TWRP for Xperia ZR.
Actually, the recovery was installed with the whole system image, and I am unable to update it to 2.8.7.0 yet.
I finally managed to update to 5.1.1 with this package by updating the kernel image with TWRP.
Still TWRP version 2.8.6.0 was sufficient.
I try Your zip and not working for my ZR. In CWM i got error with UUIDs ("uuid link to system partition does not exist"). Then I create zip by myself with PRFCreator and all is working fine.

I have no idea why the zip file doesn't work for you guys. But I'm glad you work it out yourself.
I'm on stock 4.4.4, UB, with xzdualrecovery 2.7.... Is it safe to flash this 5.1.1 rom? Or do I need to update the recovery first? Or should I upgrade first to 5.0, then this? Thanks for the help!
I flashed TWRP and rooted because I wanted to use xposed and eui moder to give it a stock android look and feel, but I didn't realize that it doesn't work on the x522 right now, so I want to unroot. Before I flashed the SuperSU.zip, I made a backup of the system partition in TWRP. I didn't check the box that said "system image" though. I have done a full unroot through the supersu app, restored my system partition backup, which also replaced twrp with stock recovery, and done a factory reset. I seem to be completely unrooted with stock recovery, my OTA install keeps failing. I don't know what else I can do at this point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know why OTAs are not working, if you try and flash the OTA update zip with TWRP it will say that the update is for the S2_na and that the device is the S2.
in other words, the unrooting and stocking process stated here for our S3 converts our phones in S2s, which means, OTAs will never install.
Solution here is, wait for a Stock S3 Rom.
I am going to make a complete backup for my Moto X4 before flashing TWRP and Magisk, that can help me to restore my Moto X4 to the stock and get OTA updates easily.

Someone reported booting into TWRP without installing TWRP will break OTA.
Is this real?
If yes, does that mean I can't get the OTA updates if I restore the backup made by booted TWRP?
Thank you so much
