Hello everybody,
I'm going to buy a Moto X because I really like it, but I noticed that it has two problems.
1. The camera quality is good (if it could be improved, it'll be better), but in low light the video has a bad focus but above all a low frame rate.
2. The audio recorded has a nice quality; however, with loud volumes like concert or wind, it has distorsion.
Are these problems solvable in some ways or is the Moto X hardware limitated?
Thanks. Bye!
I guess we'll have to live with this camera. (Indoor mode is not great).
And audio I'm not sure!

Okay; I'm waiting for other replies before deciding to buy a Nokia Lumia...
Lumia? It's just a camera with calling feature

I know, but I need a good camera with good audio quality.
Moto X isn't bad at all, but I can't buy it if I couldn't solve that problems!

Are you in a hurry to buy a phone? If not, I'd suggest waiting it out until the X+1 comes out later this summer/early fall. From what I've read, it sounds like a beast of a phone. If it lives up to the hype, I'll be getting one when my contract expires in November. Otherwise, you really can't go wrong with the usability of the X. The camera could use improving, but don't let that sway you from buying this device. I had my reservations about it as well when I first got mine, but I have no regrets.
Yes, I need a phone now!
If Moto X's video with low light and audio recording at a concert or disco could be improved, I'll buy it surely.
most def get the moto x u won't be disappointed the camera isn't that bad n u can install different camera apps to adjust setting also I find the audio on this phone to be great compared to other android other than HTC one'

It sounds to me like you need a new camera more so than a new phone... Lol.
Uhm... yeah... plus or minus... lol
But I use phone for call, browse, music and camera... Call, browse and music are common in all smartphones, camera not. I like Moto X camera, but it has the two issues I wrote, so I'd like to know if they are hardware limits or software solvable limits.

Nah I totally hear ya I was just picking on you. Not everyone carries around a DSLR for the hell of it, most people just have their phone. With the advancements Moto has made with the camera software, I honestly think the hardware is in the right place. From what I understand 4.4.4 is supposed to bring even better camera improvements over 4.4.2. Just pull the trigger and get one!
Yeah, but I tried a Moto X; in disco the audio is crappy (so at a concert I think it'll be even worse), and if there isn't a lot of light, the frame rate slows (for example, at night in a road or in a house with low lights).
4.4.4 solves this problems? If not, are they solvable with mod, tweaks, etc.?

No mod or tweaks can help it. If camera is a priority for you then you might wanna stay away from Moto X. Also 4.4.4 might bring some colour accuracy, but there will not be any significant changes. Go for XZ1C, again, if camera is the priority. The main problem with X's camera is it's inconsistency, you need to depend on your luck with it. Also there is slight purple hazing on low light shots, the sensor is far from being good, along with the optics.
Then buy a nice camera. Phones are phones with cheap cameras thrown in for kicks and giggles. ?

Nope. Anyone.
Every phone "camera" is terrible compared to even my $99 Kodak camera. Which is tiny and quite easy to carry around....especially if I know I'm gonna want to take pics where I'm going.
Phones are nice for those "crap...I don't have my camera" moments....but they are just never going to replace an actual camera...not if you want consistently decent pics. Yet people seem to expect phones to make "better" cameras all the time. Or are disappointed by the "cameras" their new phone has. Phone cameras will never be great.....not when the "real estate" for camera hardware is miniscule compared to an actual camera.
Just my 2 cents.
Opinions will vary, and to each their own. ?
---------- Post added at 08:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:56 PM ----------
BTW....if phone cameras were sold separately... With no phone, they'd be worth about $25. That should put the phone camera quality discussions in perspective.
Any news or other comments? Are there some camera or audio recording improvements for this phone?
Are camera's problems like low frame-rate and bad focus in low light and audio distorsion with high volume like concerts solvable in some way?
I'm planning to get a Sony Z3 C.
But after seen some 1080p and Picture samples on the web and Youtube i'm very worried about quality.
The Z3C have more redness when recording video and pictures...why's that ?
Is it a software fault or is the just the phone ?
The samples from iPhone 6 is much better than Z3C. I cant believe that Sony have placed a better camera in iPhone 6 and keeping a bad camera for their own. As i know Sony deliver cameras for Apple.
Also the Audio is really bad when recording videos. Its very thin. As i know theres 2 microphones for recording audio....so why bad audio then ?
Also some people Complains about broken front & back. Thats also seem to bad for Sony. The phones have never dropped. My friend have a Z3C numbered 14W37. He was charging the phone overnight. And in the morning the back was broken. He got the phone repaired by Sony without any costs.
Some people means that the Z3C produced before week 38 are all faulty. So if you want a good one the find a phone where the date is 14W38 or later. And that date you CANT se on the boxes. The date is on the sim card flap.
The main problem for me is i had iPhone's since 2007. So i really need a change. Things is just got boring with iPhones- Its just the same phone just BIGGER AND BIGGER
I hope someone can answer my questions here

The camera isn't bad.
At least the hardware is, Sony really wont give a better camera to it's concurrent, it's just the software that's bad in my opinion. Also note that Apple could perfect their software since they only had to worry about 1 phone over almost a decade.
I'm not sure if you seen the topic I made solely to show what the camera can do, if not I'd say check it out, you'll find some samples there. (Link in signature)

I haven't tried it out myself, but if I'm correct there are 3 volume options when it comes to recording. 1 for when you're at a concert the other one for normal situations and the last one for quiet situations.
I've seen a video recording made by the Z3C at a concert and the sound was quite perfect in my opinion (will see if I can find the vid)

People claim all kinds of things on the internet, in the end only Sony will be able to say something about wrong batches, but they won't of course.
Hello,
Is there some way for better picture qualitty took by z3compact?
I tried many photo apps (mx camera, open camera, a better camera, google camera, camera fv5) but photoes sucks still.
I have got fw.291 with locked bootloader
thank you
you can flash camera mod (cyberian for example) or google about photography on internet, z3c photos are far from suck

Aside from better software you mean? I refuse to believe that the physical cameras themselves in Sony phones aren't capable of taking the same kind of pictures that Samsungs, Apples do etc.!

It's probably possible, if you can reverse engineer all the firmware and camera related libs yourself.
@OP, I don't think there's a magical way to make the photo quality as good as any Samsung's or iPhone's photos.

As you have now undoubtedly discovered, the best way to get decent photos out of this device is to use the stock Sony software. You'll have to learn to play with manual mode because auto-mode on this devices consistently yields over-exposed, soft, and/or noisy images. But to be clear, it's not a bad camera, it just doesn't excel in the point and shoot category in the same way that nearly every other flagship does.

Camera sucks, even a mid range phone takes better pictures. The only advantage of this phone, its size, design and of course battery life.
Btw no nougat support, low custom rom activity, camera sucks, low performance according to price (laggy and freeze sometimes), low internal storage, non removable battery, headphone jack sucks i think all of z3 compact have this problem, some software problems such as wifi, gps etc.
I am not happy with this phone, i miss my note 4.

Yes Sony has been screwing it up lately. I don’t know why are they launching so many different phone models when they are all basically the same since the first Xperia Z.
I think Sony should focus on only offering one device that excels in every aspect, otherwise I think they are going down.

Sony just produces bunch of similar mid range phones and sells them with high price. Samsung phones are crappy too, but at least deserve that money.
Hey guys,
I'm planning to purchase Nokia 8 copper colour now. I googled about it, quality and features seems good. But when I saw the development in xda, I was little shocked. So, just wanted to know if it's worthy to be purchased. I'm open to suggestion and kindly share your experience with the phone... Thanks in advance...

I have purchased my Nokia 8 this March. Other than the camera, the phone has a superb quality and performance. I have found that the noise on the photo taken from Nokia 8 is rather high, and focusing on images take a little bit longer, so it is quite hard to take a quick snap if you wish to. However, such weakness can be recovered if you have installed the Google camera from Pixel. Other than that, it is a superb phone with good quality and fast update.

IT depends on the country where you live, but in most places you can get a Sony Xperia xz1 or honor v10 for the same price. Both with better standby battery life and unlockable bootloaders. The cameras of those phones are also a bit better.
Everything is great here , even the camera if you use google camera you will get very nice pictures , but the only thing i dont like on this device is the design, I like the new screen aspect ratio

To be honest, the camera is not as good as the flagship phone available in nowadays (or even at the time it released). The noise on the photo is visible at night time (sometimes even in day time). I can only say that the camera is just about average compare with the mid-tier phone.
The battery life is okay to me, but I always turn on the battery saved mode and turn off the Glance.
I hope this answers might help you to make up your decision.
I bought mine a few weeks ago and have been loving it since. I came froma Moto Z Play so I had a lot to consider before buying. First, battery life, no Snapdragon 8xx can come close to the Snapdragon 6xx series. And also stock Android experience is the best experience for me. So I'm left with Honor View 10, Nokia 8, or wait for Nokia 7 Plus.
Nokia 7 Plus will have a great battery life nut has gorilla glass 3 and no OIS.
Honor View 10 has better camera and battery life but has EMUI and a Kirin processor (even though it's a at Snapdragon 8xx level). However it does support project Treble, so if you wanna root around it should be easier.
The Nokia 8, which is good but has subpar camera and subpar battery life. But considering how small the battery is and how powerful the processor is, it does have a better battery life but would've been better if Nokia added more. And camera is fine at least better than my previous phone as I just needed some decent photo. Google Pixel camera app made it waaaaaayyyyy better.
I hope it helps you decide.
I find the battery life superb, most days i have over 70% left with moderate use or 40%'ish with heavy use without WiFi using data only.
Here in Chile it's price is way affordable than other flagships from Samsung, Sony, Motorola, LG, etc. So, having that in consideration, plus it's hardware and software is the best deal for what you get.
Battery life is great
Screen quality and brightness in sunlight also great
Sound i find it really good
Camera is good too, maybe it isn't way good at night as other flagships with lower apertures, but it gives really decent pictures. Video is good also, very good quality and stabilization is decent enough. And it's surround recording sistem is really nice.
So hardware wise is one of the best options you can get here for it's price. It's a Nokia so you would expect a sturdy phone, almost unbreakable lol.
In software you get the latest updates really quickly.
Maybe it doesn't have unlockable bootloader easily as other phones with Snapdragon SoCs, but having cutting edge updates almost same as Google pixel devices I would say maybe it's not necessary to have much development. Things I've noticed over the years is that most developments that triumphs are those that make ROMs as stock as possible.
So if you like stock Android go for it I don't thing you'll get disappointed. But if you are a camera maniatic , maybe you should consider some other device
Hi!
Anyone have a worse camera quality after bootloader unlocking?
I don't tested camera before bootloader unlock, and in my opinion camera is not good, but i haven't comparision.
That's the prize of bootloader unlock, you also lost hdr and and more, I think info is on Sony www where you got the code
