[Q] Link2SD on Lollipop 5.0.2

Dear All ,
I have searched XDA , there is some information on Link2SD here and there , but no specific thread about Link2Sd and Lollipop 5.0.2 on Xperia Z/ZR/ZL , so decided to open one.
I have Xperia ZR (C5502) , Stock Lollipop 5.0.2 rooted with Locked Bootloader.
Busybox Installed , SuperSU installed and everything works fine. But unable to use Link2SD , the same issue ..........bootloop after creating a double partion in SD Card (1st ----- exfat 2nd------ext4) then creation of Link2SD script , then reboot , then bootloop.
Also tried initd , univarsal initd , but problem remains.
Before that I have successfully installed and used Link2SD on stock Kitkat 4.4.4 rooted.
So if anyone can give some guidance, I think same will be applied on Z/ZL also
I have same problem, same configuration.
In my case the bootloop apears when a had made the second partition with ext4 (2GB) and I try to reboot. Only without this partition my XZR boots normaly.
Nut is making a dualrecovery with a remount bootfix included. But its not finished right now. Maybe this could be a solution.
Lp has move to SD.....no need for L2SD, plus that app destroys cards
With Move to SD I have only 600 MB spare space on internal memory. Need more, cause I need the apps.
thanks to all
i am waiting for nut dual recovery then
and yes Lollipop has native App2SD , but that does not as complete as Link2SD
Native App2SD can not move an application completely (incl dex file , obb , cache etc) External SD which Link2SD can
Stock Lollipop Have App2SD Feature But I Cant See It In My Phone How Can I Do That
Tried the old remount reboot fix, but it seems not to work on lollipop.
I am now on about 600 MB free space in internal and after a while my XZR warns me of low memory. But need the apps I have installed.
Everything is transfert to sd with app2sd thats integrated, but it is not enough. With Kitkat I dont had this problems, but wont go back.

Anyone knows NUT latest news about dual recovery and remountrebootfix for Lollipop 5.0.2 ?
Thanks
New version of NUT dual recovery has been released , any chance to get a new version of Remountrebootfix so that we can use Link2SD again on XZR Lollipop 5.0.2
thanks.

In the patchenotes stay something about that. Normally it should work now. Maybe you can try it and post success here
The fix should be integrated in the new version I think.

How big is your partition for link2sd?
Mine is actually 2 GB but thinking about making it bigger. Hope it will work.

Link2SD

Hello!
On lollipop i could use link2sd, but on marshmallow when i try create script i get message "mount: no such file or directory". How I can repair this?
My phone is Karbonn Sparkle V
Use memory card as internal memory in Marshmallow (warning: it will format your memory card so prepare a backup of your data). Better than link2sd but a drawback that you cannot remove sd card and use it on another mobile and also custom recovery cannot mount your memory card
I don't want to use a internal memory in Marshmallow (apps dont have access to sdcard and it can't download files for example games).

I don't think it is better. Link2SD moves more files to SD card.

Use apps2sd to create mount script and then install link2sd and remove apps2sd. Voila! You're set!

Hello, please can you share link to Apps2SD, what you mean? There are many on Play Store and mostly useless. Thanks a lot.
This is the one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd
Is it also not working on CM13 or CM13 supports move app to ext sd.
I tried different mount scripts/command with no luck. It looks like during start Android is trying to mount sdext as FAT and is blocking Link2SD.

best needed app is not working in android 6
I have the very same issue on cm13 where link2sd is telling me that mount script cannot be created due to non existing file or directory.
I wrote a mail to the dev two weeks ago but did not get any response which is utterly painful since I bought the pro version like two months ago. Just two weeks before upgrading to marshmallow...

I found a workaround to make link2sd work on android 6.
The first time I installed and ran link2sd, during the creation of the boot script an error was raised about a missing /dev/block/vold/179:18 device.
So I logged in with a terminal and discover that the device in vold is no longer called 179:18 but public:179_18.
I created a symbolic link with the 179:18 name that points to the new device name, recreated the mount scripts and I have now the second SD partition automatically mounted and working to move apps with link2sd.
I sent an email to the app creator, I hope he can fix the issue now.
Below how I did:
- Write down the name of missing device from the error raised by link2SD when the mount script creation fails (eg. for me: /dev/block/vold/179:18)
- Open a terminal to open a local shell.
- Log in as the root user ("su" command)
- Change to the device dir and list the present devices.
Example for me (/dev/block/vold/179:18):
Code:
[email protected]: / # [B]cd /dev/block/vold[/B]
[email protected]: /dev/block/vold # [B]ls[/B]
disk:179_16 public:179_17 [B]public:179_18[/B]
[email protected]: /dev/block/vold #
- Identify the new device name: if for example the device name was "179:18", now the new one is "public:179_18"
- create a symbolic link named as the missing device that point to the new device name (replace the name with your device):
Code:
[email protected]: /dev/block/vold # [B]ln -s "public:179_18" "179:18"[/B]
- DO NOT REBOOT YET
- if you list files you should see the new link:
Code:
[email protected]: /dev/block/vold # [B]ls -l "179:18"[/B]
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Feb 19 11:11 [B]179:18 -> public:179_18[/B]
- Open the link2SD app and from the menu choose "Recreate mount script" and accept to reboot when the script has been created.
link2SD should now be able to create the mount script.
When you reboot your device, the symbolic link that you created is deleted, but in my case the app created a mount script with 2 mounts:
- The first with the device using the symbolic link (that will fail because the link is gone)
- The second with the physical device (/dev/block/mmcblk1p2) that will successfully mount the 2nd sd partition
So, if it's the same for you, you will not need to modify the mount script.
The only issue (but not that annoying) now is that at every reboot android see the 2nd SD partition as corrupted and ask you to format it: I simply ignore it and dismiss the notification (If someone knows a way to make android ignore a specific disk device, let me know)
I don't know if this can work on all devices, I only could test with my galaxy tab 3.8 with A Bliss ROM.
Let me know if it works.
Manu
Will try it asap and report back, @wmanux! Did almost the same already but with a hard link (ln ... without the -s option) but it didn't work. Can you elaborate the difference a symbolic link makes?
Thx ahead bro!

Best way/ROM to save space?

I'm looking to help my mum's moto g 2014, she can't install any app updates and is having constant problems because their Moto G 2014 is out of available space, and none of the apps which are using the most amount of space will move to an SD card.
To help fix this I was looking at installing a Marshmallow based ROM that could use an SD card as internal storage, however having read on here for a little bit it seems like they're all a bit too experimental to expose to a non-geek. Does anyone have any specific suggestions before I just start trying different stuff? If it helps at all it was bought unlocked in the UK, I don't have anymore details right now as I live in the US and won't be over till next week.
1.If it is rooted, use link2sd to move all the internal apps (even the ones occupying large space) to ur sd card, the app will move everything including app data and obb to the sd card
... 2.The aosp build of marshmallow is said to be working in single sim moto g2 devices (I have a dual sim and so ril doesn't work) , take a nandroid backup and flash aosp m and check it, or if you want to be on the safer side use link2sd app
3. Use system App remover to remove unwanted system Apps which are not used eg Google Books, google music player (use another player that use lesser space) etc .. /requires Root /

Storage Issues on 5th Gen 7in Kindle Fire Running CM 12.1

Hi everyone,
I'm having an odd issue with my Kindle Fire. Just some quick background, I was running 5.1.2.1 so I flashed the firmware for 5.1.2 and then used Kingsroot to root. I then used Flashfire to flash my ROM. I'm currently using CM 12.1 that's found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/orig-development/rom-cm-12-1-2015-11-15-t3249416
So now on to my issue. I set up two users on my tablet, one for my son and one for me. I downloaded a bunch of games for my son including large titles such as Minecraft Story Mode (which is over 1gb). I started to run out of space so I decided to delete some apps. And despite deleting nearly every game on the device, it says I only have about ~500 mb of space left. It barely lets me install new apps (only if they're really small). It's almost as if the apps I deleted never actually got deleted. I went from having like 10 games installed, to not even having the space to download one game. I'm not recovering any of that free space when I delete apps.
I also tried moving some apps to the SD card using the "Apps" menu in settings. It appears that the apps are not moving over to the SD card. I'm just using the native features so I may give an app like Link2SD a try.
So does anyone have any ideas why my storage space just seems to get smaller and smaller? Is there some type of permission that's not letting me fully delete apps? Any help would be appreciated!
I have no idea why your storage space is getting smaller, but I had problems moving apps to the SD card as well. I use Link2SD and that works perfectly. You have to wipe your SD card and then set up a primary FAT32 partition and then a primary Ext4 partition for it to work.

- Space does not just disappear; use one of the umpteen disk space managers in the Play Store to see what's happening and remediate
- Link2SD or similar utility for moving apps to SD card (see previous post)

Old SM-235 not mounting ext2

Hallo everyone,
I hope for help here for my rather old device. It is dear to me as navi, and the app is no longer available for new installation.
I have searched for an answer here and elsewhere, but with no success. And furthermore, it seem I am messing it up even more...
The tab is rooted since years, Link2sd has been working fine till today.
I always get confused with what filesystem I had been using, but MiniTool on my PC says it is Ext 4.
After deinstalling and new installation of Total Commander, the second partition would not mount anymore.
Link2sd prompts again and again for recreating the mountscript
Can anyone help ...please... ?
