Hi all, I'm back with another proplem!
Around a month ago I was running AICP and KMA Kernel and just randomly one day I couldn't connect to any WiFi networks at all, I've tried a whole combination of ROMs and Kernels and the only thing that seems to work is having a ROM with the kernel it comes with, Meow, KMA, Hodor are the Kernels I've tried so far on various different ROMs but none work at all, it just says "error connecting" or something similar, I can't connect to WiFi networks on ANY Lollipop ROMs either!
I have already had a look through the forums for a fix but so far haven't found anything, I've trued flashing nandroid backups and re-flashing stock .283 but still haven't had any luck, I'll try and pull a logcat in a little while!
Has anyone else encountered this and if so do you know the cause/solution? I'd be very grateful indeed if someone would be able to help me out!

Bump, I really need help here guys!

Has your wifi mac address changed? If so add it to your router configuration

After a few days running Dlev's 4.2 ROM, my wifi stopped working suddenly. When I try to turn it on it says error or unable to start wifi. I've exhausted several initial options I began walking myself back through various ROM's back to the original 2.1 stock ROM. Without success I even performed a master clear and several reflashes of the orininal stock ROM, nothing is working. I tried FXR Wifi fix and rescue. Does anybody have any ideas on what I should do?
Thanks,

Kernel?
What kernel were you running with the custom ROM? Talon's being updated really frequently, so if it's Talon, you might try the latest version of that (0.4.4.22, as of this writing)

Did you try rebooting your router or device that gives you wireless signal? also see if other devices can connect.
It was Talon 0.4.4, but I've gone all the way back to stock ROM/kernel etc and that makes me think that this is a HW malfunction.
AT&T had me reboot the router too, my laptops are able to connect just fine. It's not really a connection problem either, Wifi will not turn on at all.
I called Samsung and they want me to ship them the phone, still debating that one since I will have to go without a phone.

Hey folks. I'm running on a stock UXKH2, flashed through Odin. I'm not rooted because it seemed like a lot of doing, but everything else is working perfectly except for my wifi.
I'm able to see networks but I can't connect to them. I've tried a few open networks as well as a few secured ones, including my home network. All the security was checked and double checked and I still can't seem to get a lock. I'm wondering if I should be flashing a custom modem?
Quite interesting post actually..I would love to see how people response to this..
no such thing as a custom modem, they're all stock modems just different releases...
have you tried forgetting networks turning off wifi, clearing cache and dalvik cache and trying to connect again?
you may have to reflash, i posted a zip in the kj2 thread for rooting, you just flash boog's kernel with odin and then flash that zip i posted in cwm. not all that difficult. so that you can backup your stuff before you reflash and restore after..
I know some of these older GB ROMs had wifi issues. I'm more familiar with the US distros but I'm sure the same was /is true for Rogers' too.
I have this issue all the time. One day the phone connects to the access point with no problems. The next day it refuses to connect and "disables" the connection. The only thing that seems to fix it is reflashing. And that's such a pain!

Hi folks,
I can't post in the dev section so I'm hoping someone can answer here instead. Searched imilka's thread but couldn't find anything that helped me. Wipe & reflash has worked for others but not me.
Wifi doesn't work for me. It worked when I activated it in the setup wizard after flashing the rom but after the first reboot it doesn't present me with any networks and it doesn't connect to the one I configured. I know the wifi device works because the mac address is identified in the status menu.
Also, battery time isn't very good. Less than half remains after being fully charged then left alone over night.
I have tried a full wipe & re-flash and also flashed the last version released yesterday. Does anyone have any tips or do I just wait for a new version? Seems weird that it works for everyone else.

Indeed, I didn't come accross any of these problems... I don't know what to say mate, might have something to do from whatever ROM you came from, some kernel remnants...but again, that's just guessing...
What I'd do in a situation like this would be to revert to a stock GB, use jBroid's kernel cleaner, and then try to reflash Chainfire's repack and back to CM. That's just what I'd do...
I'd try to do a factory reset first. That way you'll get another chance to setup your WiFi from scratch and see what transpires. If it fails, it's back to basics, most probably. Rooted GB --> ICS Repack --> CM9.
It's such a hassle to reinstall everything again.
I'm downloading a stock rom now and I'm going to try flashing the modem partition. Perhaps the modem in the chainfire repack I flashed before is not 100% compatible with my phone... Otherwise I'll just have to stick to mobile data.
Flashing modem made no difference so it's something with the ROM. Luckily I have a good data plan so I'll just leave it and see what happens in the versions to come. If anyone has an idea, feel free to let me know.
And thanks for your answers guys.
Suddenly it all works. Thank you Google. You're swell!
Hey guys
Not sure if this issue is only with my phone or others have it too.
The issue is that on any kernel that is not stock, such as doomkernel, xzk and cm/aosp, the WiFi likes to disconnect after a while of sleep then refuse to find most networks again. This issue persists even after restarting WiFi. The only way to fix it is reboot the device.
My question is, in your custom kernels, is there something different in terms of WiFi compared to original stock kernel? If so, could you help me diagnose the issue?
I ran a logcat and it said something about an error with wpa2 psk

Post your logcat.
Yes, the WiFi modules in the custom kernels are different from Sony's. And we don't have access to Sony's source code for this.
okay I don't know if this was talked about here before but this is my first post and im wondering is anyone has an problem flashing the elementalx kernel everything seems to work fine but my lte won't send data back or forth and it takes way longer to even pick up a signal on restart of the phone seems like it's also slowed down 3g. thanks any help will be appreciated.
It only happens after installing ElementalX or any custom? Try Kangaroo, TeamSeven kernels - if they have the same issue, there is something with them, if not, it's only EX.
What type is your M7 by the way? - info can be found in bootloader (M7_UL is mine)
