Is there anyway to have transparent Navigation Key background across apps in Nexus 6?
The home screen has transparent nav keys. But when in any app, the navbar has an ugly black background. Is it customizable by any apps?
I am on rooted b3.94 pure shamu with Material Dark theme.
I would check around to see if there are any transparent navigation bar stuff for the N6. Used to be Xposed could take care of most of that, but with ART in 5.0, it'll be a while before that happens. I would check around and link here for you, but this is my lazy answer night.

Is there an official way to have the top bar with the Wifi/3G/H/Bluetooth/Clock/Etc become fully transparent? Just an edit in the framework?
I'm on FF 2.3.
Thanks
Wouldnt think so, apps are desinged not to use that space anyway so it would stay black
sent from my rooted captivate
Would be nice if it was easier to get a transparent notification bar. Black in apps is ok with me, I personally want my background to be visible under the bar. I'm also on FF.
Hmn, I wonder how people implement a transparent top notification bar on certain ROMs.
I've noticed on Lollipop that some devs are actually implementing material design and the tinted status bar looks great coupled with this. But why aren't apps tinting the navbar? This is possible, but I don't have any apps that do it (but plenty tint the status bar). Why is that? What apps do you use that have the tinted navbar? Would love to try it out. Thanks!
Only one I can think of is the beta version Franco Kernel Updater app.
Reddit Sync also does this. Its a possibility that we can see this done in a custom ROM feature, there was Dynamic Status Bars. It can be adapted for the navigation bar probably.
I'm looking for a way to make the nav bar/soft keys at the bottom of the display transparent everywhere, like it is on the homescreen on GEL
Anyone know of a method for doing this? I'm on the M preview.
I know it's possible with Xposed but I'm looking other ways.
Bump...anyone?
Bump....
It would be really easy to do if you decompile and recompile your systemui.apk but, it will not look like how you think it will look. Your nav bar will end up white or grey, because it will be transparent and behind the navbar will be dead space that is white or grey. All your full screen apps (Except launcher) do not sit behind the navbar.
I think what you actually want is a dynamic navbar that changes colour to match the primary colour of the app you are using, which is much more difficult.
Or... maybe you want an expanded desktop which allows the app to be true full screen, and you swipe up to bring the navbar up transparently over the app. Though this would cut any buttons or text fields off in the app when the navbar is up.
I see what you mean... Damn well that sucks.
Thanks for the reply.

Hello,
I noticed that the Notification and Navigation Bar doesn't get transparent with some Launchers like Action Launcher3 Pro, Arrow Launcher etc. Do somebody have the same issues?
Im running Stock 5.1.1 with custom Material Design Theme.
if anyone has some Information, that would be cool.
greetings

On Android 7 and below, a couple screen dimmer apps, like Darker, were able to dim the nav bar and status bar. Seems Android 8 kills that. Any workarounds or apps updated to d the nav bar?
Was wondering about that as well.
My main problem is the notification drawer, which burns my retinas at night.
Currently using Twilight.

I also use Twilight (have done for years) and have the same issue. It's disappointing that Sony removed the standard Night Mode from Oreo, because I've seen it on a mate's Pixel and it works very well - like Twilight did on previous versions.
I use the xBlack - Red Theme where the buttons are just grey dots and it's ok for my eyes. So maybe that's a solution.

There are ways to mod the looks of your phone without having to root Andromeda can be set up with a couple of ADB commands, this then gives you access to Substratum.
The modules that I use most are SX DarkRes, Swift Black and Spectrum.
Spectrum is probably the best place to start for custom dark nav bar.
