Hi everyone
I have an Asus laptop and I would like to reset it to factory settings (like wipe data in android) so all programs and settings I have made will be deleted. I dont want to reinstall windows I just want to delete all programs and reset settings so the computer will be like when I bought it Is there anyway to do this on windows7 and if its possible - how to do it?
Lol that doesn't exist really in Windows itself. Or you need to go back to state it was in when you bought it by using the recovery.
i agree with tomsteel1, the only way is to reinstall windows, i did this and backed up everything before i reinstalled windows.
Tap f9 during startup. That should load the recovery partition.

I've owned many laptops over the years, and have yet to come across a laptop that will not do what is called "Full Destructive Factory Reset."
All user added software and files are whipped clean, and the system reverts back to the way it was shipped from the factory.
For HP it's under all programs>system recovery>PC Recovery and then follow instructions.
For Lenovo there is a special "Think Vantage" blue button that you press during boot-up, AND you can also access the recovery program from "all programs." Every manufacture offers these Factory recovery programs, and sometimes they vary slightly as to how they're implemented, but they all do the same thing. (don't confuse Microsoft Windows Restore operations with Full Factory restore operations)
If you no longer have the owners manual for your laptop, which will tell you how to perform a Full Factory Restore Operation, just google your Asus model # and Full Factory Restore, or go to the Asus Support Website, and you shall prevail.
Edit: If this was not the type of restore operation you were looking for, the previous outlined steps will also list all available options.

Looks like you didn't own enough lol. I've seen many laptops without it.
As to how to do it, when the computer turns on, and you get the first screen and look at the bottom. It might say something along the lines of "Press F# for system recovery". If it doesn't boot into windows, and check if you have a recovery partition. Right click My Computer->Manage->Disk Management, and check if you have a partition called recovery.

Must have been before my time. Unless his Asus is ancient, their support website and/or his owners manual will give explicit step by step instructions for performing all restore operations.
I dont have the recovery partition. I only have system reserved, C:, and two unnamed partitions (70 and 4 GB) I think they are for ubuntu since I also have ubuntu installed so I dont even have normal startup but only asus screen then OS select and then "starting windows" screen. The manual says that there should be a recovery partition but probably previous owner deleted it (I am 2nd owner). s there any hope for me to get computer back in original state? And if I reinstall windows will I still be able to get programs that were originally installed on it (turbo33, fingerprint unlock, power4gear hybrid...)?

Ahhh, then they removed the recovery partition. You will need to use a windows CD (download it, it's legal) and use the key from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. Than download all the drivers from Asus support website, and the might have all the programs (bloatware) there to download as well. If you don't have another computer, download the drivers before doing anything and keep them on a flash drive. Once you reinstall you might not have the LAN/WiFi drivers installed.
There may still be hope, try bashing "F11" on startup and see if you get to a recovery console, your 4gb partition could still be the recovery partition, if you want to explore it you can right click on my computer -> manage -> disk management -> click on the partition and click change drive letters and paths -> add a drive letter.
If this is completely useless then as the person above said (However the legality of obtaining an installation disk is questionable, also be careful with whether you are downloading an OEM version or RETAIL version, as your key is specific!) you can simply re-install windows and visit the asus site, punching in your model number from the bottom of the laptop !
The other 2 partitions are ext4 and are for linux so no recovery partition If I decide to format and install windows I download from somwhere will I be able to use original serial for activation? Because I see a lot of people have troubles activating (illegal) windows...

Hi all,
I hope you can help as something very strange and unusual has happened to my Galaxy S3 LTE i9305 (on Orange in UK). Samsung technical support tell me they've not heard of the issue before as do the official repair shop. I have never installed any unusual software or tried to access the internals etc.
On Sat 26th Oct, in the evening, the phone was connected via USB to my laptop charging. There was no data transfer taking place, and the laptop was idle. The phone was not in use, nor was I nearby but randomly it showed the Samsung splash screen logo - it looked a little weird as it was pure black but with random speckles of coloured dots (which made it look like a Galaxy - I thought perhaps I hadn't noticed it before). I was unable to reset so took the battery out and replaced. It did the same thing and then on the second time of removing hte battery the screen became completely white with black marks generating a fuzzy effect - it's been like this ever since.
I get the white fuzzy screen if attempting to turn the phone on, or attempting to recovery mode, however if going to the install option (which I assume happens before Android boots), the screen is absolutely fine and proves not to be at fault. I should add the screen is cracked slightly, it has been since April and is not the cause of this random error.
Tech support tell me that they'll happily accept it back but ultimately, they will wipe the phone and send back as reconditioned. I've tried to connect via Kies, device not found - nor is it when connected to a computer - infact the computer tries to 'install device drivers'.
I'm sure everyone says this however I am an organiser of a large local festival in the UK and the phone has some very important detail storesd in the ColourNote app which I need to access - also the contacts appear not to have synced with GMail since May.... I'm desperate to access these files, for money too potentially, but cannot afford to go down the simple, wipe and reformat easy option. Can you help? Do you know any software that can access data from the internal memory card (note I've removed the external card which contained the photos) How about once the phone has been wiped, to try and see if anything can be recovered then.
Would really appreciate your support, this developer community is my last option and you're normally so awesome, as can't find any reference to the problem online.
Is your colour note app not synced ??
You can try RECUVA data recover.
You need to read the faqs and guides first .
Including the one that covers storage and recovery ..
Samsung reject warranty on phones that have damaged screen .

Hi,
....no I had never set it up. So ironic that was on the to do list in the app.
I'll look into Recuva, is that for before or after I send it off. Is there much chance do you think?
Yes, sorry. I meant to say I also have phone insurance which covers the screen so will have it off to them first, and then onto Samsung - ie 2 places of data wiping!
Thanks for your reply though,
Kind of hoping I may just be able to fix the problem, even if only temporary, but realise it's unlikely

Hi mate,
You can try flashing just the system (and boot) images if you think it's a software issue.
That way your data partition will be intact.
Instructions:
Step 1) Download the Stock ROM you want to use
Step 2) Rename the file from .tar.md5 to just .tar
Step 3) Open the .tar with WinRAR or something similar
Step 4) Extract: system.img (and boot.img if you want the Kernel)
Step 5) Create ODIN file from .img files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484304
Step 6) Flash the new ODIN file to restore your firmware to Stock!
On Windows you can use Cygwin to run these commands if you don't have access to Linux.
NOTE 1: That guide uses recovery.img as an example but you can replace that text with system.img on the first line.
NOTE 2: If you are adding more than one file (eg. system.img & boot.img) simply list them one after the other with a space between each file.
NOTE 3: Do not include data.img, it WILL wipe your data! Do not include cache.img, hidden.img, these MAY wipe your data!
Best of luck, I hope this helps you out :fingers-crossed:
Have a great day!

So, here’s how you can recover data from a Soft-Bricked Android smartphone:
1. Once you’ve installed a custom recovery on your device, open it using the specific method for your device. E.g for Samsung you can turn off the device completely, then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power Key and you will be able to access the recovery. These methods vary for different devices.
2. Once in CWM or TWRP Recovery you will find a number of options.
For CWM Recovery, select “Mounts & Storage > Yes”.
In Mounts and Storage menu you will find some more options, from the list select “Mount USB Storage or the option depending upon your choice.”.
Now connect your phone to your PC using the data cable.
As soon as you connect your phone to your PC, the USB Storage / Internal Storage will open up in folder view.
You can copy all of your files to your PC now.
3. For TWRP Recovery, Select “Mount > USB Storage”.
Connect your phone to your PC and it will open up the USB / Internal Storage.
3. Copy your desired files.
That’s all! You can easily recovery all of your data stored on the internal storage of your Android device.
Hey guys. Sorry to bother you in the X98 section, but since there's no section for the X80 yet and maybe the devices have some similarities, I hope it's ok.
The tablet worked fine, but to remove any possible bloatware under Windows or Android, I reset Windows. Somehow the device must have crashed (low battery?) and now I can't boot to Windows anymore (black screen and / or boot loop). Of course I made no backup / recovery disk. Android still works fine and I still get into BIOS / UEFI.
I tried reinstalling Windows via OTG with USB stick. I got to the point where I can choose a partition. Problem is, there are lots of partitions (Android, recovery, System and so on). I located the Windows partition, formatted / deleted it and tried to reinstall Windows on this partition. Just the exact way I would do it on a PC. Somehow it won't install on this partition. The error message says something about "the partitions are not in the recommended order. Further information for installation on GPT-volumes..." (I don't know the exact English phrasing because everything is in German). I chose "continue anyway". Then I get the message that "the EFI-system is not formatted in NTFS. Format the partition to FAT32 and start install procedure again". I press ok and get back to Windows Setup (Install now).
I also tried different repair and recovery options. One time I got error code 0xC0000034. Funny thing is, Windows still seems to be there because while trying to repair / recover I tried to load some drivers and could see the hard drives and folders under Windows.
I tried downloading the original roms here: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1qYEa8gc
You need a Baidu account for the larger files and after days and days I gave up to create such an account as it seems to work only with a mainland China number. There's an option for oversea mobiles but that's not working. I tried a QQ-account, but Baidu wants to link with it and you need that telephone number again. So apparently there's no way to get the original files that way.
I found some stuff here: http://www.needrom.com/download/teclast-x80-pro-dualboot/ but that's only a tutorial file in Chinese and some flash programms / drivers (also got them from Baidu - smaller files are possible to download without an account).
Long story short: I guess recovering Windows 10 is too much effort, so I want to make the tablet Android only and of course want to use the whole capacity for Android. I found a thread on reddit about removing Windows on the X98: https://www.reddit.com/r/teclast/comments/479eua/teclast_x89_how_to_remove_windows_10/
But I have no idea which partitions are definitely needed for Android and which ones I can safely delete. I found a partition map here: http://wheresmykeyboard.com/2015/08/teclast-x98-air-64gb-dual-boot-default-partition-map/ but that doesn't help me that much because they look different.
Attached you will find a photo of all the partitions on my device. I guess there are some which were created during the failed Windows installation because I had about 20 GB free space and now only 17.7 GB.
So is there anybody out there who knows if it's possible to remove Windows completely and which partitions I have to delete?
Did you ever figure this out? I just bought an X80 Pro and was thinking of doing something similar since I plan on making it an android-only tablet.

Yes please tell us how metalaxi , it'll be much appreciated.:good:
Ok, guys. Since some of you are asking how I did it, I'm going to try to explain it. It's kinda embarrassing that I don't remember the exact way but I hope it helps somehow. I used the tutorial from this site: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/x80-plus-android-os-only/#login
Even though it's supposed to be for the Plus model, it also worked on the Pro. Btw, the guy Alex in that thread is me .
You can download all the files from my Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxEFqy4Rt9w_cnh3VG9ySk5sOHM
You need
- Android5.1 Upgrade Tool.rar
- X80 Pro (E3E6)- Dual OS - Android5.1-V1.04 Firmware.rar
- gpt.rar (Credit goes to Allember @techtablets-forum; hope it's ok to spread the file)
First you have to install the flash tool. Unrar the firmware and replace the gpt.bin. Then flash the firmware by checking BLANK.
Problem is that when I did all that, my Windows was already crushed and wasn't working anymore. I can't remember anymore if I erased the Windows partitions or any others beforehand. If you're not interested in Windows anymore, just flash it without changing or erasing any of the partitions. I guess by replacing the gpt-file, you do all that automatically.
I hope this somehow helps you. Feel free to ask for more help.
Have a good night!

Hi @metalaxi. Do you think its possible to like "reverse" and use the same files to remove Android instead and maintain the Windows 10? Appreciate to hear from you. Thanks!
Do we have to change the gpt before doing what you said in your PDF? Or I have just to follow your PDF?

Sorry, I can't answer that sufficent enough. As far as I know, you can just delete all partitions except the ones from Windows. Then format the unallocated space and merge it with the one from Windows. No guarantee!

It is not so hard. By mine it was only trial and error. Installiert all drivers an go in the bootloader with three Finger method. Go two levels up and go into bootloader. Then connect to PC and look in Intel flashing tool if connection is reconiced correctly. Select the downloaded file and select flash. Thats it. Device will reboot and you are ready to go.

Straightforward if you can obtain a USB stick capable of storing over 7GB (some 8GB sticks may not); USB hub (ideally a powered hub); USB keyboard; OTG cable.
1) Obtain the Windows files of the correct firmware. The procedure outlined here is for E6E9 firmware, but other firmware will be similar. Download the circa 6.5GB E6E9 firmware Windows files from https://yadi.sk/d/XEvRsoiD3Q4vKX or https://mega.nz/#F!I0AXGR5C!YiNFkZL9DIvzepH28qAjEQ (or from appropriate source for your firmware version).
Decompress the downloads as required to obtain six folders and two files.
2) Format the stick to FAT32.
3) Name the stick WINPE (five uppercase characters).
4) Copy the previously mentioned folders and files to the USB stick.
5) Plug USB stick and USB keyboard into hub; plug hub into OTG cable; plug OTG cable into tablet whilst the tablet is off.
6) Turn on tablet and immediately start tapping << Delete >> key on USB keyboard. This should open the UEFI config section prior to Android boot option. If the tablet displays the Android boot option, turn off the tablet, wait a few seconds, then turn on and start tapping << Delete >> key on USB keyboard again.
7) When in UEFI, touch the title menu option of << Save and Exit >> and look in the << Boot Override >> section for the name of your USB stick, then touch the name of your USB stick. The screen will immediately go blank as the tablet starts to boot from the USB stick.
8) After a few minutes, a numerically display of progress will be displayed in a CMD window.
9) After reaching 100% and nearing completion of the overall installation, the tablet will prompt for acceptance, so accept that prompt.
10) The setup will run a few final operations for a few seconds, then automatically reboot.
11) Done.
You will be prompted to complete the OOBE on each Windows boot until you complete OOBE.
Hi!
Yesterday I rooted (interop tools) my Lumia 640 with WM10 onboard, get full FS access and delete folder DPP (and some others) from my Phone.
After restart phone won't booted:crying:
After that I flash my phone with stock WP8.1 (lumiafirmware.com) using WPID (WDRT is not recognized my phone).
WM8.1 started successfully but 1) my SIM card is not working (present but unavailable), 2) I cant login in Microsoft account - phone want to be activated (see screenshots).
As I can guess in deleted DPP folder there were some original keys and model values. Without them my phone is not activated and I have two problems 1) and 2).
I have files from DPP folder stored on my laptop.
Please help me to restore my phone!!!
I thought to do another root and copy DPP folder back but I can't do root in WM8.1 because I have no one application that need for CustomWPSystem to make root (MixRadio is absent in stock my rom, WPD and others I can't install from Store because of problem entering in Microsoft account - see 2) ).
So I'm completely disappointed :crying::crying::crying:
Can't attach screenshot don't understand how to. May be it's limited because I'm new here.
I took another ffu with MixRadio in it and successfully rooted WM8.1.
Thank copy back DPP folder. Than reflash my phone with stock image.
But all this didn't help(((
The problem of activation and not working SIM still present.
I call to service center and thay told me to completely reflash bootloader with special equipment.
Now my question is will it solve my problems? And can I reflash bootloader myself with simple USB cable and a laptop?
Dpp contain unique key for windows activation, ssd key hash and some another's. Sometimes device flash with specific device certs.
If you have backup dpp.bin its good but may be you have to write it correctly as gpt partition.
I think this step would be good. First flash dpp or restor its stuff.
Then put phone on emergency download mode. Then flash all bootloaders then flash ffu.
I don't think it will be get re-provision or what.

Yeah..i got your point....
You have to do this.
Anyhow you need to install wm10 ...and interope it interop tool ..and apply full fs access...
Now, you need to create a simple folder with "DPP" Name and put content onside it ..reboot....gotcha you have done.
Problem
As per my knowledge...you deleted the DPP .so your phone doesn't have any connectivity...
No wifi
No cellular
No activation
So, need to install wm10 anyhow..is the only one solution
DPP partition files?

I think I also deleted the DPP too. But somehow, I accidentally put T-Mobile ffu instead of att. Now, whenever I try to put att ffu it says thor2 invalid platform ID. I also tried booting to emergency download mode. Windows device recovery tool detects it as a 635, and downloads the wrong ede's and edp's. So I had to go to lumiafirmware.com and download them myself. However, when I try to use it in thor2, I get an error when it sends the ed signature. As a last resort, I used the current T-Mobile software and then used vcREG on the phone to get full fs access via MTP. But also that doesn't work the DPP folder has the exact same contents as the EFIESP folder.... I tired to also do FS access over SFTP - I can't even connect to the phone... so I'm kind of screwed...
[UPDATE]
After practically trying every single thing ever possible, and nothing working, phone seems to be bricked in QHUSUB_BULK.
Hello!
2 pcs P20 Pro (now servicing). Tested 10 and 9 version, not read OTG (in system or in recovery).
Now offline (not PC) update from SD available only... this phone not support SD-Card! Only OTG-SD.
-Attached 3 other USB-OTG converter cable (1pcs new, 1pcs 20x used)
-Attached pendrive (exFAT, FAT32, NTFS)
-Attached SD (exFAT, FAT32) in Kingston USB-SD converter
Pendrive LED not on: not readed.
Tested OTG cable to other USB device, 5V ok, Data line voltage ok: USB all 4 pin ok!
Tested OTG cables other older droid 5.1 phone, all working, SD readed with converter, pendrive readed correctly.
One P20 Pro bricked. Bootloader locked, fastboot mode available only (screen blank), Multi-Tool flasher/unbricker "stock service flash" downloaded to phone and failed (no write permission). Hisuite not support this phone recovery. No other method to unbrick, only SD-update. How to working this port?
Live system not read OTG and bricked system not read OTG.
Live system developer mode settings (*#*#2846579#*#*) changed to default, Manufactture, Hisuite, same. Developer software upgrade: 1. Memory card, 2. APK standalone, not available OTG/USB. Connected to PC: Photo mode, File mode and Charging mode available only (not available reverse charge).
USB port measurement: not powered live system, booting, recovery "update OTG mode" not powered the USB port!
1 phone= inside cable USB to mainboard bad? 2 phone= 2 cable bad??? Not real!
Charging ok. PC connection ok.
What is a problem???
Hey Looking Forward To Help You..
1.Go To "SETTINGS"
2.Search For "OTG"
3.Some Phones Like Eg.Oneplus Have OTG Option In the Status Bar Customisation Tab..
4.Use An Prober Cable [OR] See If It Works On The Other Phone..
5.Important The Drive/SD You're Using Doesn't Have Any Hardware Issues!
6.Best Thing Is Two Option.
A.Software Update.
B.Factory Reset - Data Loss [Not Recommended]
7.Or It Must Be an Hardware Issue Please Reach Out To The Nearest Mobile Service Centre.

6: not available
7. Display changed, back changed, not original phone, not free (guarantee) service. Service + old unrooted, locked bootloader phone, ... too
I'm used IDT to flash. Only have CLT-AL00A-BD_1.0.0.46 Board Software firmware. Flashed in testpoint mode. All upload ok. After power on:
Imei: 000000000000...
Model: unknown
EMUI: 3.1

Only have test softwares this firmware. No browser, etc.
How to update normal version?

What is a good version for SD update? First 8.1 or latest 10?
HiSuite searching update, no update!
Restored phone with PC and USB.
Problem: The TWRP version.
Changed TWRP version to 3.3, OTG working, newer version (3,4, 3.5) unsupported OTG.
More function not work in old version (restore backed up system partition: error, etc.).

Hi there, can you please help me out ?I have one Huawei P20 pro, that had a fall and the back was smashed in to pieces, also glass on the back that's covering the camera was broken.I have cleaned it up and replaced the back on it ,now it was really temperamental,as of you tap on it it will just restat itself, apart from that wa ok,soo I was thinking maybe software error, soo done a factory reset and now is stuck in boot loop.Is not powering on the android operating system.I have tried all the restoration methods that you had tried upper but can't make it load the android operating system....I even bought that small and card reader that you can plug in the charger port to try and install the operating system again ,but even of the led light on the card reader is on , doesn't do anything...any guidance?
Thank you!

If not rooted, use PC with Hisuite official software.
If not communicated to phone, need to reflash manually. This is not free.
In DC-Unlocker site download 2 software + pay 3 day license for this softwares and use.
Bootloop and cracking not related!
Cleared chaches??? Not solve?
Done factory erase, done cache memory erase, done restart and just staying on the Huawei screen where is saying down at the bottom Powered by Android for few minutes and after that goes in to the white meniu where you can select factory reset, updates (tried the WiFi update is not connecting),now I got the firmware and Kiwibird 4 in 1 card reader that you can plug up the "ass " of the phone usingOTG hopefully I can install the firmware from there...I have downloaded the firmware and just putting it on the SD card...have you tried that way?
Firmware install not working "offline" mode.
TWRP and any other not read OTG, only live system.
Another problem: OTG only support FAT/FAT32, not supported NTFS, ExFAT (Live system: need Paragon software). The firmware file more than FAT32 filesize limit (2GB), only stored NTFS or ExFAT = FW file too large for FAT.
Your FW upload only 3 method.
1. Boot to recovery, and set ADB mode, download the FW zip to DLOAD dir (from PC with USB cable + ADB), and install. (NOT TESTED!)
2. Boot to recovery, and set wifi recovery. Connect to wifi AP, download latest downloadable FW and install. (NOT TESTED)
3. Paid method: DC-Unlocker & DC-Phoenix work with standard recovery (limited access) and work own uploaded recovery (self opened bootloader/virtual testpoint).
OTG/SD not option for FW update!
Thanks you for your time, and writing back to me,yes, good point with different types of partitions,I forgot about it...I did try the nr.2 method and is not working,it can't download anything,I have trying different wiFi points, not starting any download,it does connect to the WiFi but can't find anything to be downloaded.
First method is not going to work as I have no access to set ADB mode, only fastboot mode, and is displayed that phone is locked soo, bootloader is locked and can't open it...soo only method to try is theast one...but don't know how much will that cost me.
Also I am thinking of other people said that the battery can have a problem too as my battery is getting empty fast...also something strange maybe..but if you tap the phone on the upper side on the edge it's restarting itself...I am thinking to open it up and try like that as in the past had been dropped soo back glass and camera glass have been replaced, but was working, until I have done factory reset and the process got interrupted in the middle of it and that was it...since.then..Inhave tried reset, factory reset, wipe cache, nothing working.
The softwares for 3 day ~20$. The DC-unlocker site write correct actual price.
If bootloader not opened, only available FW-update in Hisuite Huawei official software.
Test in recovery mode or bootloader mode.
(My recovery is TWRP, not available recovery method. Your available.)
Test connect to phone this software! If yes, but not available firmware, need to use special VPN software. Download offline your phone firmware to PC, or set specified link to VPN soft and Hisuite: update available! (Need Hisuite downgrade for this VPN method.)
If this update not working, purchase 3day license.
Need offline firmware file for your phone.
Soft-bootloader open if not working, use testpoint. (The DC-Phoenix manual write the testpoint position.)
Start the process in PC, Short testpoint to GND and plug USB. (If need, install drivers.)
Started upload unlocked bootloader and unlocked old recovery. After finished, reboot to recovery. (Without accu, work end... after reboot only work with plugged accu.) (Not need unplug accu!)
After booted recovery, wait PC to identify recovery mode, and started download.
The download 2 part! 1= firmware, 2=cust file. Need all selecting!
The download automated. Please wait for 100%. After end, rebooted to system.
Check IMEI, phone signal, MAC numbers. All ok? End flashing.
Wrong or no IMEI, bad MAC? Need the second software.
The second software unlock bootloader, FRP lock, all lock.
Unlocking bootloader (not need): software say the unlocking number, phone boot bootloader, PC USB ADB (Fastboot) command need to write the code, phone question: yes? Is yes, rebooted to recovery and CLEAR ALL DATA! After cleraing, boot system.
All phone start displayed "Phone untrusted".
Unlocked bootloder = uploadable TWRP or any recovery, after not need testpoint to flash.
Root: only rootable 8.1 system. (Not tested 8.1+, bootloader code not readable.)
Hi there mate,I have manage.to fix my phone, just following an old post here, with one russian website, where I got the firmware, put it on the SD card ,by the way you can make it eXFat ,will work for larger sizes, mine was 128 GB,and had to reboot the phone in update mode but selecting OTG/SD and it worked first time!I manage to update it with Android 10.After that all good, done the updates up to 12.
Thank you for your support and time!
Have a great week!
8.1 (stock) System and recovery not compatibilie / not read ExFat.
