Is anyone using a DayDream alternative that both works with Lollipop and makes use of the AMOLED panel. I love DayDream. I've missed being able to see the time at night at my bed side (My Nexus 5 has LCD and lights up the room).
The problem with DayDream is though, you set it to work when on charge, but if you use a wireless charger, the phone goes off charge part way through the night and DayDream Stops. Day dream only kicks in again if the screen is on, so I lose the time.
I suppose I could set with Tasker to turn the screen on when it starts charging again, but this isn't a good solution really.
what is anyone else using?
Edit: This seems to work ok:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brianco.daydreamlauncher&hl=en
BUT, screen times out and I dont really want to enable screen ion whilst charging.
I have used Tasker on Power (Wireless) to:
code: svc power stayon true
app: daydream
and
06:45am : svc power stayon false
Not exactly an elegant solution.

Both with the default ATT ROM as well as with the TILT AKU.0.7.0 ROM my phone will not turn the screen off when docked.
I have the backlight and power settings adjusted to allow the phone to turn off the screen after 1 minute and turn off after 5 minutes.
When docked, instead of going dark and powering off per my settings, the screen drops to about a 20-30% brightness level and the phone never turns off.
I supsect some app may be keeping the phone awake, but disabling my plugins did not make a difference.
Anyone else experience this behavior?
I have an unlocked TyTN II, with stock HTC ROM, and thats how it's always been out of the box.
Maybe I'm just used to how my old Hermes behaved.
I noticed this too. Now if someone knew how this could be deactivated so the screen was completely off, that would be nice.

The Kaiser's screen, unlike Hermes, is not transreflective and if the backlight is off, the display is completely blank. HTC elected to have the display stay ON at a minimal brightness when the timer runs out.
At first I wasn't happy but at night, navigating, I like the fact that it auto-dims while attached to a charge cord.
anyone else having this issue and/or know of a fix?
I know that's a setting.. at least in the cm10 roms
Look in settings then developer settings and have a look if you turned it on by accident

its not the "keep screen on while charging" option you guys are thinking of. for some reason the screen just stays on while charging. the asus charger it came with does not cause the problem though.
when i first plugged mine in to a charger that wasnt the one shipped with it, it'd keep thinking i was plugging/unplugging it and so the screen would always be on.
Does it alternate between Charging and battery level on the lock screen?
Screen is on when charging, but once it's plugged in and charging, can you turn the screen off by pressing power button while it's charging?
That's how my NC works.
Has anyone figured out how to make the phone stay in dock mode when the wireless charging hits 100%? I am getting tired of my phone pulsating throughout the night as it turns off at 100% and turns back on at 98%. My clock app goes away when the charging turns off and lights up my room like daylight. I have tried using tasker and the magnetic field sensor, but that is not very reliable. I have tried other tasker profiles but can't seem to figure out a good mix of variables. I also tried using an NFC tag on the dock and the app Trigger to start the app, but that only works when I first put it on the charger. It doesn't have an Exit Task like Tasker does.
This is really annoying and a pretty crappy "feature". Anyone?

works great for me make sure you get this one:
Night Clock by
Gubbel
Can I ask why you suggest that one? I have a couple alarm apps that I could probably just open myself, but I'd like to be able to put my phone on the charger and have it open automatically and stay open until I take it off the charger. Does Night Clock have settings for this kind of situation?

a few reasons:
1: first it works with wireless charging on my nigntstand
2: turns off hard buttons
3: dims to my liking per settings
4: moves as a screensvaer
5 most important stays on after charger is full
I suppose a round-about way of solving this problem is to just use a wired charger, and save the wireless one for your desk or something, so that you don't have to worry about it acting up in the middle of the night. There's no terrific advantage to having wireless charging, IMO, so just be practical and use the wire.

I would do that if they made a dock for the Turbo. Unfortunately, Motorola doesn't put out docks for their phones like they used to. Now you have to buy a generic one that doesn't fit properly. I ended up creating a Tasker task that opens my clock app and doesn't allow it to close, so I have to close the app manually every morning but that's just being picky. It works pretty well, so I'm happy now.

I'm having trouble getting tasker to see my dock. What settings you have the mag sensor set to. And are you able to get the clock to go into night mode?

I just set Tasker to launch my clock app (Dock Clock Plus) when it detects wireless charging. I tried to use the mag sensor, but I could never get consistent results. The Dock Clock Plus app has a setting to go to night mode automatically at certain times. So I have it set for night mode from 9pm to 8am. So if I dock my phone outside those times, it stays bright.
When I put my phone on the wireless charger at night, the screen turns on. Its like a beacon in my bedroom.
Anyone know how to disable this? I found the xposed module to turn off the sound, but that's just half of the problem.

Mine only makes a chime. Does yours stay on?
Do you have 'Stay awake' enabled in Developer options (see attached)?
Is the wireless charger magnetized?
Well, it doesn't stay on for long, but its bright enough to cast a light on the celing for a few seconds before turning off.
I dont want it to light up at all.
Its not a magnetic charger, just the little Nokia puck. Worked well withy Nexus 5.
Use a dark black background and the pixels will be off. You could even set it up so it switches to that wallpaper around your bed time or when it gets plugged in.
Just take the battery out.

You can't do that actually. One thing you do is to turn on the adaptive brightness and then put the brightness to lowest, now put it into charging. brightness is too much low with this
What's the trick to allow the Note 9 apps to function while it's wirelessly charging? Currently, the phone won't even charge when wirelessly docked unless I lock the screen or enable Daydream.
Is there a hack that can fix this arbitrary limitation?
There's no hack. The Note 9 functions just fine while wirelessly charging. You have a bug.
Thanks for the quick reply. So, you can have an app like YouTube running on the foreground full screen while your phone is fast wireless charging?
Mine DOES show that it's charging in the notification bar, but the red led on the phone doesn't turn on unless the phone screen is locked. So, it looks like it's charging, but it doesn't actually charge the battery. When doing searches on this issue, I just see others asking the same question without a solution.. even for other Android phones.

Mine charges just fine while using it. I often put it on the wireless charger and watch Netflix. Of course using it will slow the charge rate, but it should at least keep up with the use.
Does your red led for charging stay on for wireless charging while watching Netflix, etc? Mine turns off unless the screen is off.

No that light only stays on while the screen is off.
Your get the same thing when using wall charger, indicator only turns on when screen is off since it's a notification LED. It isn't meant for it to stay on while screen is on since you can see battery icon showing its charging.
From what I've experienced, the phone will charge wirelessly, with screen on (about 800mAh) and wirelessly fast charge (I cannot get a mAh measurement, because the screen has to be off to get the "fast charging" toast message seen on the lock screen) with the screen off.
This seems like an odd limitation to purposely install, but there it is.
